Walking down the sidewalk, I knew I liked him, but I wasn't sure how. Did I love him or just like him as a friend? My train of thought was broken when I was jerked to the side by a strong arm and a bike whizzed past me, just barely missing me. He was watching out for me when I wasn't and reacted before I even knew what happened; what a friend. I stopped for a minute on the path, letting it sink in, when I was interrupted by his voice. "Are you okay, Brandon? Did I hurt you? Oh, god, I made you bleed! I'm so sorry!" I looked at my arm and saw some blood run down it. It was then that I knew my answer...

He was just over six feet tall and had a well defined, muscular build from years of lifting weights. Except for white fur from his chin to the insides of his thighs, he was all light grey and had the signature crystal blue eyes that I often got lost staring into. They were deep, glistening pools of beauty, more so than any others I had seen. After all, he was named after his eyes-- Ole Blue Eyes, or OB for short. He was a pure breed Husky in his mid-twenties.

I was not covered all in fur; I was a male human in my early twenties and just under six feet tall. I wasn't very muscular. I had an athletic build, no excessive body fat, but not a six pack. I walked ever morning before my classes in college. That is where I made first my friend, OB, and my life changed.

We were in the same two classes in a row: Business Management before lunch and Photography after. We first met when we both walked in late to our first class of the year. We took the only two seats left, in the back of the room. There are ups and downs to being in the back of the room. You can get out fast after class, but sometimes hearing the teacher was hard for me, since I was only a human and didn't have the great precision hearing OB did.

When class ended, OB and I were the first out the door. We both stared to walk towards the café when I asked if he knew where the photo lab was. He didn't know, but he offered to help me find it after lunch, since it was his next class, too. I asked to join him for lunch and he agreed. We finished lunch together and went off to find the photo lab. We were the first ones there. Not wanting a repeat of the first class, we picked two seats in front beside each other. Having a few minutes to kill, I ask him some questions to get to know him better, only to find that we liked many of the same things. Country and Classic Rock, action movies, lifted trucks; hell, we drove almost the same thing: he had a lifted Suzuki Samurai, and I had a lifted Jeep Wrangler. We compared classes and found that the first class and this were all we had together.

When class ended, we parted ways and finished our classes for the day. My next surprise came when I was leaving my dorm. I was shutting my door and, when I turned around to walk away, I found him opening the dorm room door directly next to mine. We must have stood outside in the hall talking for ten minutes straight. I asked if he wanted to go have a drink, but he said, "No thanks," and that he had studying to do. So, we said good bye and went separate ways, him into his dorm, and I into the hall.

I was only walking for about ten minutes when I came across a club with a rainbow colored flag hanging above the door. It was only one block off the school's campus. I immediately knew it was the LGBT club I had heard about, so I went inside. It was rather dark in there with only a few black lights on. I found my way to the bar after bouncing off some people. I was just finishing my second beer when I heard some commotion over towards the door. A few seconds later, another guy sat down beside me. I could tell he was having a rough time. When he sat down, his wallet fell from his pocket and hit the floor. I tapped him on the shoulder, and he yelled, "Can I just sit and have a beer without getting hit on, god damn!"

"But your..."

I stopped and decided to just pick it up, setting it on the bar and sliding it over to him. He looked down and then said, "I'm sorry, it's just tha..." He stopped in the middle of his sentence as he looked over to me. When I looked over to see why he had stopped, I realized who it was. The black lights made his fur glow and his eyes appear a deeper blue, but I still knew who it was.

"OB!"

"Brandon!" We said in unison.

"I didn't know... How long have you... You are, aren't you?" Everything flooded out of my mouth as I tried to make a complete sentence.

He answered calmly, "I didn't know you were, either, about a year, and yes, I am gay."

We sat there for a few beers more, OB quickly catching up and passing me in the bottle count. We left there at about midnight and stumbled our way back to our dorms. OB invited me in, and we sat and talked there for about another hour.

I got up and said, "Time it is I think for bed." I was more drunk than I thought.

OB, who obviously handled alcohol better than I, offered to assist me. He helped me out the door and opened mine, escorting me to my bed and sitting me down. Next was the biggest surprise of the day. He planted a kiss right on my cheek. Instantly, the drunkenness disappeared and I felt my face turn red. My head was spinning. Did he just..? I started to analyze what had just happened when my train of thoughts were broken by him saying good night and shutting the door. I passed out backwards on my bed from so much thought and alcohol.

I woke up to some noise in the kitchen of my dorm and an aching in my head. I knew the second one was from the beer I had last night, but I didn't know where the first was coming from. Putting my headache aside, I grabbed my Louisville Slugger baseball bat that I kept beside my bed and braved my way towards my kitchen. As I rounded the corner of the kitchen, I saw an intruder. I raised the bat to my shoulder, freezing when I heard him say, "Good morning." I knew that voice.

"OB?" I asked then as he turned around the events of last night hit me

I used my free hand to feel my cheek, where the kiss was planted the night before, It was burning red. He embraced me in a hug, and it felt like everything just melted away.

"How did you get in here?" I questioned.

He reached into his pocket and dropped my keys into my hand.

"I used them to lock the door on the way out," he commented, going back to the stove. It was then that I realized what made the noise that woke me: he was cooking breakfast. "It will be ready in minute." I looked up, breaking my daydream-like gaze, and saw that he was standing by the stove, smiling ear to ear. "I was going to just drop the keys off to you, but when I saw you were still sleeping, I decided to make some breakfast for you, too," he remarked, walking over to the fridge and retrieving the orange juice.

Breakfast was on the table in another two minutes. Bacon, eggs, toast, sausage, and pancakes; it all looked so delicious. I usually don't eat breakfast because I sleep in late, but it was nice for a change. I didn't mind being woken up by this beautiful canine. He was a fabulous cook. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted as good as it looked.

We finished breakfast together and cleaned up the kitchen. He sure makes one hell of a mess when he cooks, but it was worth it for the end result. It was then that I realize I was only in a t-shirt and boxers.
