Chapter Ten: Assassins

I woke up slowly. I felt groggy and everything was dark. At first I thought I had been drugged, but then I realized it was just from the first good night's sleep I have had in so long. I felt something on my abs, I looked down and saw that it was Serra's arm. It made my cheeks redden even though I knew she was sleeping. I started to move her arm some, and when I did she moved closer to me. He arm tightened around my abs and I could feel her body against my back. I started to move her arm again but then felt how good it was feeling to have her hold me like this. The realization made my cheeks burn more. I stopped moving and just laid there, listing to her soft breathing. After about thirty minutes Serra's arm jerked back from around me. She must have woken up.

"Morning Serra." I said rolling over to look at her.

"Um, I'm sorry about that." She said, her cheeks were bright red.

"It's fine, I don't mind." I said with a soft smile.

"Yeah, but still." She said. The first rays of morning light came in through the window hitting her scales causing them to shine slightly like the day we first met.

"Listen, it's fine." I said. "Come on, let's go exploring the town before to many people get up."

"Um, ok." She said with a bright smile.

"We should let Blake and Alexis sleep for now." I said getting up and walking to the door.

"So, it will just be you and me?" She asked.

"That and who ever might be up this early." I said looking back at her.

"That sounds good." She said getting up.

I stepped out of the room and down stairs, Serra following close behind. We went out the door and out into the town. We walked around for a while, we went in the local blacksmith's shop, the general store, and a armor store. Serra bought some throwing knives from the blacksmith's, some varied foods from the general store and a new helmet at the armor store.

"You seem to have a lot of money, Serra." I said.

"Yeah, well I was born into a rich family. I hate it though." She told me.

"Why do you hate it?" I asked.

"Because I want to work for my money, and stuff like that." She said.

"Well, why don't you just give away all your stuff?" I asked.

"I don't know." She said.

"I see, well I need a bath, I have not had one since we left." I said.

"Me either, I saw a river on our way in, we could go there." She told me.

"Sounds good to me." I said with a smile. "You lead the way."

She returned the smile then started to walk toward the gates of the town. We walked thought the town gates and past them. I followed behind her not next to her like I normally would. I looked over her body, mostly her scales and how they shone in the morning sunlight. She turned and walked into the bushes off of the main track, I followed close behind. When I broke through the foliage I saw a slow flowing river. It was a few feet long and stretched for quite a while by the looks of it.

"You can go first." I said.

"Ok, you wait over there behind those rocks, and no peaking." Serra said.

"I won't." I said walking behind the rock.

"Good boy, I'll be out in a moment." She called to me.

The 'good boy' comment made my cheeks redden some. I sat down leaning against the rock and listened to Serra move around in the river. I heard a twig snap and I sat up looking around. My eye darted around looking for any signs of trouble, but there did not seem to be any so I laid back down against the rock. Then I noticed that Serra had stopped moving.

" You almost done?" I called to her.

"Yeah almost." She called back.

"Ok just hur-" I started.

Something burst around the rock and grabbed me. I started to grab from my dagger when I realized it was Serra. She was a lot quieter than her size said. I was about to say something when she pressed her lips to mine. My cheeks felt like they were on fire, and I saw that Serra's cheeks were bright red. I slowly closed my eyes and leaned into the kiss. Serra slowly pulled out of the kiss. I opened my eyes and stared into her eyes. Then suddenly her eyes went wide, then she fell over. I looked and there was a dart sticking out of the side of her neck. Before I could react I felt a sharp pain in the side of my neck. Then everything went blurry, then black. I could still hear though, a little at least.

"Good job, Darko, you got them." I heard someone say.

"Thank you master." I heard the someone else say. I knew who it was, my old partner, Darko.
