Legend of the Guardians;

Nyra's Revenge.

(this takes place directly after the end of the First movie; Owl's of Ga'Hoole. My knowledge beyond that movie is extremely limited. Forgive me. This is only a mild fanfic I wrote. Enjoy.)

All was silent on the starry night at the Ga'Hoole tree. Three figures stood atop the highest point in the tree; the Summit of Glaux.

One could almost swear that an owl could merely jump an inch or so off the branch and touch the Eye of Glaux; the constellation of stars that hovered high in the air.

Hence the name; Summit of Glaux.

Boron, the leader of the Ga'Hoole tree; a rather large white snow owl, was standing on that very perch with his mate and wife; Barran; who was also a white snow owl, was right beside him.

Three or so branches below, was Soren; a Tyto barn owl who was formerly of Tyto Forest, one of the youngest Guardians of the tree. His gizzard was strong.

"Good evening, Soren." Boron rumbled in his throat.

Soren bowed politely in return; his Guardian helmet gleaming in the vibrant moonlight.

"It is always a pleasure to greet you, Boron." Soren returned the greeting.

Barran looked around and said in her soft screeching voice; "Where is Ezylryb?"

Soren paused and looked around and then said; "I am afraid I do not see him tonight."

Boron was just about to go into a small rant about how Ezylryb (formerly Lyze of Kiel) was always late to their meetings.

Just then, a familiar old, and tired, screech came from a small shape in the distance.

The old, and small, bird landed semi gracefully onto a branch next to Soren.

"Sorry I am late; going out this late is tiring for my wings. You summon us here almost every night now; surely the darkness that has yet to grow is worth us not getting proper sleep?"

Ezylryb said sarcastically, noisily and rudely grooming himself.

Ignoring Ezylryb's rude comment, Boron continued; "You know the darkness has been spreading, Ezylryb, as do we all. But I feel it closer than ever tonight under the full moon. And Soren has also expressed a concern for this.... This troubling time we are about to face. His atrocious brother, Kludd, has now pared up with the former mate to Metal Beak; Nyra."

Soren interjected defensively; "My brother, Kludd, is not atrocious. He lost his hope and gave into the evil of the Pure Ones. He was basically brainwashed!"

Barran also stated her opinion, rather fiercely too; "Whatever the case may be, young Guardian Soren; Kludd is, nevertheless, on the side of the enemy. And you must treat him as such, my dear boy. You are a trained Guardian of the Tree now; and you must act as such."

Soren dropped his head and said; "I understand, Barran and Boron. Now; what are we going to do tonight?"

Boron looked around and Ezylryb interjected; "Well; knowing Boron, our leader, he will have us flying around and looking for anything that may help us understand what we will probably not be up against again."

Soren chuckled at his former mentor's comment and Boron gave them both a hard stare.

"Maybe I am just paranoid." He said to himself quietly; not exactly caring much anymore that everyone there heard him.

"Forgive my old age and it comes with a sense of paranoia. Retire. Retire everybody; go to your beds and please accept the apologies of your leader."

Soren and Ezylryb dipped their heads and Soren said; "As you wish."

While Ezylryb said; "Understood." In a slightly grumpy tone and they both flew back to their respective dens.

Boron sighed and said; "Barran; I am sorry for the trouble I am causing. I am getting too old for this sort of thing anymore. And I have no successor."

Barran dipped her head and said; "Blame not yourself, nor I, for the disability we both carry. You cannot father a child; and I cannot give birth. It was said so by the Ancestors before us. And it must have been for a reason. Perhaps our bloodline must end soon. And it will be able to give new blood the chance to reign in the tree. Perhaps Soren is the one to lead now, my love."

Boron thought about it and grunted slightly; "perhaps; but Soren is young and not yet ready for the impossible weight that prepares to drop on him from us. And nor can we continue our doing much longer; we can only hope that Soren will be ready for the weight that threatens to crash upon us all. He defeated Metal Beak and saved us all; but I am not quite so sure that he will be able to handle this from the way he has described the battle with his brother. I and I alone know where Kludd's true purpose lies; but the question is; will he fulfill his?"

...........................

"Wake up!"

a voice called to him; but it was very distant and sounded almost cruel.

"C'mon; wake up."

It was a girl's voice from the sound of it. It was a bit closer, but still had a strange echoing affect. And it was not very polite.

"I said wake up; solder."

Kludd opened his eyes and found himself staring at Nyra's unwelcoming face.

"I said get up solder." The voice and image were very clear now and Kludd groaned.

"Where, where am I?"

Kludd looked around and found that he was in the same place that he had fallen.

"Soren!" he shouted, and then he narrowed his eyes as he looked at the tree that he had fallen from.

"Soren." Kludd repeated again; this time much colder.

Nyra looked at him and said; "Yes. I too have a quarrel with that pesky rat; he killed my husband, Kludd. And I know you wish revenge on him too. But for now; we need to rebuild the Pure Ones."

Kludd smiled and said; "Gladly; my Queen."

Nyra caught the smile and said; "your wing may be broken; but no doubt you would still make a fine leader and a great warrior. I will keep you around, my dear Kludd."

And then; they decided to marry eachother and become Nyra and Shattered Wing.

The warrior Kludd was no more. Kludd had chosen a name for himself in Metal Beak's honor; Shattered Wing.

...............................

"Soren; wake up." A young feminine voice called to Soren from his sleep and he groaned as he saw his younger sister's face; Eglantine.

"Uhhh, Eg; what's up?"

Eglantine, also known as Eg sometimes, was always waking Soren up from a well-needed rest.

"It's midafternoon; they missed you at breakfast. And Lyze, I mean, Ezylryb asked me to leave you alone. But it is past sunpoint."

Sunpoint was a word for noon.

Soren was instantly awake; but he hit his head on something hard.

"Ow!"

Soren exclaimed as he felt something hard against his head. A face looked down at him.

"Hello, Soren. Betchya didn't expect that eh? Well; get on up now. Time to go."

It was Digger; one of the newer Guardians alongside Soren.

"Uh; lemme shake off the fatigue." Soren said to them both.

Just then, a large bird named Twilight came up from behind Soren and said; "Perhaps he would wake up better with music."

Soren smiled as his 'Warrior Poet' begun to play his lute and sang a song.

"When the morning is bright; Soren spends the night,

sleeping and gathering his thoughts."

Digger broke in and said; "That doesn't really rhyme you know."

Then Twilight lifted a wing and said; "Patience, my fine friend Digger. I have only just begun."

This made Soren and Eglantine chuckle a little bit.

"Eh, where was I?" Twilight asked himself, then promptly plucked a string on his lute once more and began to sing again.

"thought the Nightmares are bleak, the day he is ever so eager to meet.

He comes and goes as Leader and Faith holder, and Soren is his name."

Soren smiled and then stretched himself while yawning and said with a slight smile; "well, thanks to all who tried to wake me up. But I think an early morning flight and a good breakfast will clear my gizzard."

Twilight bowed elegantly and said; "Understood."

Then he looked to the rest of the owls and said; "Well; what are you all doing? Standing around and Loitering. I will not have it. Shoo, shoo!"

And a giggling Eglantine and Digger were pushed out by Twilight.

Soren blinked a few times and then yawned.

"May as well take a morning flight." Soren said to himself.

Soren gave his feathers a shake and went to his back porch and then leapt off of it; enjoying the morning breeze catching his feathers and washing over him.

Soren gave a slight owl purr as the wind picked up and the sun hit his face; shining brightly.
