Journey to Another World 6 Ch. 7

The day had turned slightly warm, but not enough to hamper our training session. Both Jenavee and Rena were drinking from either a soda pop or a lemonade that I'd purchased for them from the money that I'd earned the night prior, and while they did that I worked with Undine to buff out her scales to a high shine in the noon sun.

"That should do for a while Undine," I told her as I rubbed another spot that I'd missed earlier (To which she was very adamant about reminding me that I'd missed) with the cloth coated in the special wax that was specifically designed for water Pokemon to bring their scales to a high shine.

"That may be it for the wax, but I sill need to work out a routine for the contest. One that will make the judges mouth's drop open in surprise and aw at my beauty/goddessness." She said as she brought around her tail to fan herself or maybe it was to hide that very large grin that she was sporting underneath the fan.

I gave her a nice rub on her cheek then walked over to lift both my kids up in my arms and swing them about, (Which caused them both to let out squeals/giggles of glee) before depositing them back onto the blanket that Rena and Jenavee were laying/sitting on. The kids were still a little to young to be able to talk yet, but I was sure that that day wasn't that far off, especially when they were already mimicking the sounds of the words. "What do you think their first words will be?" I asked as Jenavee handed me a bottle of lemonade and from Rena a sandwich.

"It will probably be something in Poke-tongue before they are actually able to use human words." Jenavee said as she pulled her son onto her lap and hugged him tightly to her chest as he murmured something in a happy tone.

" That may be true, but I think that they will start to speak human a lot sooner than either one of us." Rena said as she picked up her daughter and rocked her in the crook of one of her arms. " After all, they have so many of us to learn and imitate." Jenavee could only nod as she pulled a small light green blanket over herself, to hide her son from the world as he began to nurse from her. I looked on over to Rena and could see that she too had on her golden baby blanket to do the same. I couldn't help but smile at the two of them as I watched them for a few moments, but that was quickly interrupted as I felt something lay in my lap.

I looked down and saw that Kit had come on over and had lay her long head onto my lap. I smiled down to her as I began to stroke her silkily furry head. "It would seem that Kit has finally calmed down quite a bit." Jenavee said as I looked up to her. "Were you able to find another Ninetails to help her." I couldn't see it but Kit looked up at me, while keeping her head in my lap, and she was now sporting a very nice/mischievous smile on her muzzle.

A small bead of sweat trickled down the side of my face and I quickly reached on up to wipe it away. "Um...ya. Something like that." I laughed nervously but was quickly interrupted by Kit as she stood up and gave me a lick to the side of my face. Once the side of my face was fully covered in Ninetails slobber/drool did she turn and give the girls a very...intimidating smirk.

"_ Well ," Rena started as she too smiled at Kit " **_It would seem that whatever happened, that Kit is thankful that you helped**."

'Helped in more ways than one.' I thought but my eyes went wide as I felt Jenavee probe into my head. I slowly turned to look at her and could see that she had a bit of a concentrating/piercing look on her face, as if trying to discern the meaning behind the thought that she seemed to have picked up on. Before she could try and pull the images/memories from my head, I quickly threw up a mental barrier to block her from looking any further. Throwing up the mental block only seemed to interest her more as she tried a little harder to push through my fairly weak mental block. It was a loosing battle, as I knew that I really didn't stand a chance against a mental/psychic Pokemon who could literally throw a small Pokemon several miles into the distance with just the power of her mind.

Even more sweat was dripping down my face and back as I strained against her mental probe that was slowly but surely making headway through my now much weaker/cracking defenses. It was Kit who proved to be my savior as she let out a loud bark at Jenavee and the mental probe was quickly gone. Kit walked over to Jenavee and the two began to speak in their own language.

*I do not know what you are trying to do to our master, but what happened between the two of us if of none of your concern. My heat is over and I am grateful to our master that he was able to help me get through it.* Kit said in her own tongue as she added a bit of a bite to her voice to emphasize the point.

*Now do not think for a second that I am going to let him get away with trying to hide something like this from me Kit. He is both Rena and my mate. So it is only right to know how...*

*IT IS A PRIVATE MATTER JENAVEE,* Kit interrupted Jenavee as her hackles raised. *What happened between me and him is between us. You do not need to know!* Her voice was a bit louder than she'd intended and the kiddies were beginning to fuss a bit.

*That may be true, Kit. Though there are other ways to get the information that I seek.* A smirk appeared on her face. *Donovin can not keep his mind shut to me forever. As soon as he falls asleep, his mind is totally open.* She laughed a little bit but knew that the last time that she tried it, had produced unexpected results. 'I may be able to speak with Donovin's sister again. Now that would be an added bonus.' She thought to herself in glee.

*I may not be a psychic type like you are Jenavee, but if you continue to push the issue...I promise that there will be a fight between you and I.* She finished it all off by solidifying her tails into one silver mass and slammed the Iron Tail onto the ground which left a decent size impression in the ground that was sporting large cracks that branched off around the edges.

Much of this was lost on me however and I inwardly cursed not being able to understand Poke-speech any better than any other person in this world. Though that part of when Kit had slammed her solidified tails down to leave that small indent in the ground showed that the conversation wasn't going well. Though before I could go over there and inquire as to what the problem was, a large fan like tail came around and was pressed against my chest. "And just where do you think that you are going?" Undine asked as I stopped in my tracks to turn and look up at her. "You still have not finished polishing my scales, Donovin. So I recommend that you finish what you have started."

'Still a pain as always,' I thought as I nodded to her. 'And just as stuck up too.' I grabbed up the wax and cloth again and polished over one other spot that I'd neglected/forgotten to cover. 'I thought that this contest thing would be a great idea for the bunch of us, but if things like this continue, I just might call the whole thing off.' I thought as I thought about what was going on with Kit and Jenavee, as well as how pushy Undine was being right now.

Once I was finished with Undine's scales, I screwed on the lid to the wax and had her go over her routine a few more times before she'd gotten it down nearly perfectly. "That's enough Undine. We don't need the routine to be down perfect yet and you look like you could use the rest." She protested a bit, but with a stern look from me, she gave a huff then went over to one of the trees to lye down underneath it's shady leaves to rest. I went over to the others and placed a hand down upon both Jenavee and Rena's shoulders and nodded to them. "I've finished today's scheduled routine with Undine and now I think we should work on our own for the contest."

This seemed to put all their troubles aside as smiles quickly popped onto their faces and both nodded up to me. "Could you watch over the kiddies there Kit while we practice our routine?" I asked her. She looked up to me and gave me a nod as I saw her tails turn back into their fluffy appendages. I sighed inwardly to myself as I knew that I'd probably defused a fight right then before it'd even gotten started. "Thanks Kit. Now lets go on over our own routine girls."

We practiced our routines for an hour or two and by the end of it, we were all sweating as well as a bit dirty from the dust that we'd kicked up that was sticking to our bodies now. All in all, it'd been a great day for our practicing and the cool weather was definitely a factor to how long we'd practiced. Now that all of us were breathing quite heavily, I decided to that we'd best be heading back to the Pokemon center and get a good nights sleep. "Before we leave though Donovin," Undine interrupted my moment of peace as she slithered over and stopped in front of me. "I think that you should fulfill your promise to me about those Poffins."

Giving her a nod I looked over to the others and smiled. Both Jenavee and Rena were practicing a few moves of our routine still, but doing so at a much slower pace. "Sorry to interrupt your moment there, but do you think you could head back to the center without me?" I asked them as I walked up to them and saw them both stop to look at me. "I've got to run some errands in town and shouldn't be long."

"_ Poffins, right Donovin _?" Rena asked as I could see her fur slightly shimmer in the weakening light as the last of the rays of the suns light danced off the slight sweat that was in her fur. Her part in the routine was a bit harder and faster paced than Jenavee's, so she'd had to practice a lot harder than her, which meant that the sheen that she was now sporting meant that she'd put a lot into it.

I gave her a nod as Jenavee pranced over to us and tapped me on the shoulder. "If you are going to get some of those Poffins for Undine, do you think you could pick up a few for us and the kids as well?" I looked at her for a moment in confusion, then looked down at the kids as they were both happily riding astride Kit's back like she was a horse as she walked around the area. "I think that Rena can agree to the fact that the kids are getting a bit closer to handling more...solid foods now," I turned and looked at her as she reached up to rub at a breast and looked over to Rena to see that she was doing the same.

'Teething.' I thought as I looked back at the kids as one of them gave off a squeal of glee as Kit jumped up a bit then went back to prancing around. "I guess that'd be alright," I nodded to them as I looked back to see a contented smile on Jenavee's face. "I'll just make sure that they are extra soft, so they can actually eat them if they hungry enough."

Both Rena and Jenavee came up to me and gave me a kiss to either side of my face, went over to Kit to collect their own child, then they all waved to me as they turned and headed off together in their small group for our room at the Pokemon center. I waved back to them all as they disappeared from sight, then thought. "How lucky am I to have such an...interesting assortment of Pokemon." A smile spread across my face as I slowly lowered my hand that I'd been waving at them, turned to head West, and then proceeded to go find some berry trees/bushes at the berry mans house.

A good hour or two later, I left the overly large grove of berry trees and bushes with a large paper sack full of all different kinds of berries. The man had been incredibly nice about it all as he'd even given me a few rare ones to use in the mix of my Poffins. Though I'd thought about using them in the mix, it didn't seem right to, and planted those rare ones in the grove. As I exited the way-station to Hearthome city, I saw that many of the street lights in the city were beginning to come on and watched as the first set of stars started to come into view. 'I wonder what kind of constellation they have here in this world and the stories behind them?' But laughed to myself as they were most likely those of Pokemon from one region or another.

After another two or three hours working over a hot stove and oven, I emerged from the Poffin house there at Hearthome with three overly large paper bags full of the Poffins that I'd baked from the berries that I'd picked earlier. The first bag was full of the berries that I'd be giving to Undine so that she'd stop bugging me about the promise, the second was full of the soft ones for the kids to eat which had a large selection due to the fact that I didn't know what kind they'd like, and finally the last one was of general ones for everyone else. "All in all, a good haul." I said in a bit of a sing/song voice as I started to whistle a happy tune to a song that I'd bet that nobody knew in this world.

I'd made it almost all the way to the center before my instincts started to tingle. There was someone out there who was watching me. I slowed to a slower walk and eased my steps to make sure that I didn't make much noise when I stepped. Sure enough, not far behind me I could hear the sound of heavier foot falls as well as the sound of deep breathing. I tilted the bag a little to one side and one of the Poffins from the bag fell out. I leaned down to pick it up, but all the while I was looking out of the corner of my eye at the sound of the approaching person.

I couldn't make out much in the dimming light and the person that seemed to be behind me was bathed in shadow as he/she didn't step into any of the lamp lights. 'That confirms it.' I thought as I placed the Poffin back into the bag and started walking towards the center again. The closer I got to the center, the closer the sounds were, but I knew that I couldn't act with all the Poffins in my arms so had to think of another way to deal with this person. Finally the center came into view and I saw what looked like a perfect place to retaliate from my would-be follower.

I stopped about a hundred yards from the center as I placed the bags down upon a bench and began to stretch out my arms, acting as if glad to be rid of the weight. It was then that I heard the sound of the footsteps stop a few feet from me. It seemed that the person was waiting for me to do something and I wasn't one to disappoint. I stretched out my legs a bit then with a quick flurry of motion I quickly dropped down to the ground, placed both my hands on the ground for balance, then kicked out behind me which caught the persons foot and made them tumble forwards.

"What the...?" The person didn't have a chance to finish what they were saying as they went down face first and down hard.

Looking out of the corner of my eye, I saw the person catch themselves on their hands (Which looked like they were about to do some pushups), then with the same foot that I'd kicked out, I swept my foot around to catch the person in the upper arm making them flop onto their back with a small yell of pain. Not giving the person a chance again I rolled backwards in a reverse summersault and ended up sitting on top of their stomach with either of my legs pinning the persons arms to the ground under my weight.

"Not the smartest thief." I said as I smiled down to the person. It took me a minute for my eyes to readjust to the vertigo effect that I felt when doing that reverse summersault, but when my eyes finally came back into focus I looked down at the person. "Wait a minute...Dawn?" I asked in confusion as I looked down at the girl in a confused/shocked way. The girl had a striking resemblance to the girl from the region/Saturday morning cartoon. 'Could this girl really be the one from the show?' I asked myself then shook myself again as I knew that that was impossible.

"No..." The girl said as she tried to move her arms but was pinned underneath my much heavier form. "My name isn't Dawn, it's Kristy."

My eyes went wide and my mouth fell open in shock. "Twinkle Toes?"
