#1 of Ethereal Plane

As a quick disclaimer, I do not own anything besides the OOC's and a few locations, such as the Ethereal Dimension. ON with the story.

What if you found out that everything you had ever imagined, or had ever been thought of, was real? The ancient city of Atlantis, the Gods of Olympus. All of it existed, somewhere, somehow. I was one of the elusive few who came upon this secret.

It started out a normal day. At the time, I was 23, and rather normal. I had short, brown hair and I was rather tall. But my eyes were strange. My irises were the color of rich, pure gold.

I woke in my bedroom, groggily. I lived in a 13 story apartment building. Slowly, I made my way into the kitchen and poured myself some tea with an extra spoon of sugar. Brit to the bone. I can't stand coffee. I made my way to the bathroom and showered, now fully awake. Soon, I was on my way to work.

The streets in Old City, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, were busy as usual. I walked to down the block, and waited for the light to turn green. I walked across, uninterrupted, but not for long. As I passed an alleyway, something caught my eye. I turned to see something blue dart behind a dumpster. Although everything I knew about New York told me not to investigate, I slowly walked over to it. Silently, I peeked around the side. Nothing. Just a faint smell of chocolate, strange for an alley.

Shaking my head, I stepped out of the alley, and walked the rest of the way to the office. I clocked in and sat in my chair. The computer booted slowly, but strangely, I had a message. It read:

Dear Mr. Steel,

Allow me to introduce myself. I go by the name Magnus. I have a proposal for you. Meet me outside your apartment building at five.

My regards,

Dr. Helen Magnus

'Helen Magnus,' I thought. 'where have I heard that before?' The day went by slowly, I configured a new permissions file for the company. Suddenly, it was over. At the moment, it was 4:00.

I hurried home, oddly anxious to meet this woman. How she got my e-mail, I didn't know. I was soon home, and I ate a small snack. Before I knew it, the clock rung five. I hurried downstairs, and walked outside. Surely enough, a black Dodge Viper pulled up in front of me. The passenger door opened seemingly by itself. A woman's voice came from inside.

"Get in."

For the second time today, I went against my nature and stepped inside. The streets were surprisingly empty as we shot down them. It was silent for the longest time. Then she spoke.

"Hello, Mr. Steel."

"Umm, hello. Dr. Magnus, correct?"

"Yes. Are you willing to hear my proposal?"

"Yes."

"I work for an organization that deals with everything strange. Things that would blow your mind.Things that if revealed to the natural world would result in chaos. As it is, we discovered something incredibly special recently, and we believe you are the perfect person to use it. Have you heard of the Atlantic Prophecy?"

"I can't say I have."

"No, of course you haven't. It was forgotten by history hundreds of years ago. The Prophecy states, 'When the boundary between worlds wears thin and the swords are discovered by the one who does not die, the man of the golden eyes will wield the blades of life and death and he will create the boundary anew.'."

"The man of the golden eyes. It can't mean me, can it?"

"We are hoping it does mean you."

"This is a lot to take in. Your telling me you found these blades that it speaks of?"

"Yes, personally. I found them hidden in an ancient Aztec temple."

"But... The one who does not die? You can't mean..."

"Yes. I am 160 years old."

"Wha- how?"

"Yes. But more on that later." Suddenly, we turned into a driveway that looked upon a old stone mansion. Dr. Magnus rolled down the window and said apparently to the wall, "Henry, open the front gates. And to be on the safe side, temporarily shut down the EM Shield. Oh, and open the garage."

"On it Doc." A voice came from a hidden mic. The gate slowly swung open. We drove inside, and into the garage. I was stunned at what I found. Dozens of cars from every era were parked inside. She parked the car, then tossed me the keys.

"What's this for?"

"The car's yours. Not like we need it." My jaw dropped. She got out, then finally I regained my wits and followed. She was waiting by the entrance. Suddenly, I remembered where I heard the name before. Helen Magnus ran a private research facility on the edge of town. Little was known about her other than that she was immensely wealthy and didn't appear to age.

"Follow. There is much to show you." She said. We made our way to the house and she pushed the doorbell. Instead of ringing, the door swung open. "By the way, don't hit that button unless you want to die." I decided quickly that it wasn't a very good day to die, and I followed her into the mansion. Inside it was immense, there was a huge crystal chandelier and staircases on either side. The walls were decorated with eloquent tapestries and paintings, all depicting strange beasts. A man walked down the steps, then noticed Dr. Magnus.

"Magnus, your back. Everything go all right?"

"Everything worked out fine, Will. If you don't mind, would you give Mr. Steel here a tour?"

"Why do you make it a question when you'd make me do it anyway?"

She laughed and said, "Just get to it. Afterwords, bring him to my office. Also, introduce him to Kate, Henry and the Big Guy."

"On it." She walked up the steps while Will led me into the center. After travelling down a long hallway, we came upon a very old looking elevator. "Hello, the name is Dr. Will Zimmerman, but call me Will. I've been working for Magnus for almost two years now." He said, holding out his hand.

I shook it and said, "Aaron Steel, I work for Nintendo. One year. Call me Aaron if you don't mind." The elevator screeched to a stop, and opened to reveal what this place was truly built for.

There we go, first chapter done. No furry yet, but it will be in chapter two or three. Feel free to rate, comment, favorite or watch, thanks for reading. By the way, if your confused: It's a fan fiction of the SyFy show Sanctuary at the moment, which will transgress into holding more.
