"Moss wants her. Alex ordered the go ahead." Teya heard one of the soldiers say.

Teya was chained to a wall and she was being interrogated by a couple soldiers who seemed to be unhappy with the task of asking the Charmander simple questions. They beat her during the interrogations for her lack of compliance. Several marks are visible on her body, and her eyes are wet with tears. The humans did not show remorse.

"Fine. The bitch isn't telling us anything anyway." Another replied, keying the locks on the Charmander. She struggled slightly, the human growled as he smacked her face.

"You will stay still, if you try to escape I'll kill you." He said with cold sincerity.

Teya shivered at the statement. When she was free of the wall another human behind her pulled on plastic cuffs around her wrists and shoved her forward. She followed the human in front of her with her head hanging low.

They led her down many lengthy hallways. Teya wondered how large this complex is, but she dare not look around. She may be hit again. Silence had taken hold since the trek had started. No one had walked by them in the hall either. Suddenly the small group came to a stop and pounded on a door. The numbers 513 hung on it.

"Gimme a sec!" A voice called out.

One of the soldiers sighed with annoyance. "Asshole." He muttered.

The door slid open and a tall man stepped out. His eyes landed on the little fire lizard being held by the humans.

"Was beating her necessary?" He asked in a modest tone.

One of the soldiers gave a deep frown. "She wasn't telling us anything. So yes, it was necessary, Sir." The soldier snapped.

Moss raised an eyebrow. "I'll make a note of it. Release her, please." He stated.

One of the soldiers knelt down and cut the plastic cuffs off her. He stood up and gave her a kick to get her moving through the door. Moss shot him an angry look. The soldier rolled his eyes.

"If I see something like this again..." Moss paused.

"You'll what?" The soldier challenged. Moss stared him down.

"Report back to your regular duties. I'll deal with you guys later." Moss said in a foreboding tone. He pressed the button on the wall and his door slid shut. He turned and looked down on the Charmander that had entered. Her head still hung low as if expecting another beating. Moss knelt down to her level and gripped her claw in his palm. "Are you alright?" He asked kindly. She looked into his eyes, they were deep blue and inviting.

"I... I'm fine" She managed to say. Moss gave her a warm smile.

"I Promise I won't hurt you." He said reassuringly. "I just want to ask you some questions. But before all that, you must be hungry." He stood and walked her to a chair. Teya didn't know what to make of this Human. The others were just as she expected, cruel and ill-mannered. This one seemed to treat her as if she were a human guest. The chair sat in front a table with a plate of steaming food. Her stomach yearned for the sustenance the fragrance promised. Cooked meat with a side of steamed vegetables!

Moss lifted her into her chair which had books stacked in it so she could reach the food with minimal effort. Her tail worked through a space out the back and hung carefully over the carpet. Moss walked to the other side of the table and sat at his meal.

"Go ahead and chow down!" Moss chimed. "You must be hungry." He lifted his utensils and began with his steak, Teya eyed the utensils curiously. Moss gave a smile. "You don't have to use them if you don't know how." He said with a chuckle.

Teya grabbed the steak between her claws and began to gnaw on the cut of beef. Moss turned back to his plate and worked with his food before eating it. It was odd to Teya to see food eaten in that fashion. She chewed on the meat slowly savoring it's flavor, she hadn't eaten meat like this before. It was sweet and juicy. She let loose a satisfied smile.

This Human seemed very kind to her. She wasn't aware that any Human was capable of kindness. This week she had met two. Still, there were the others that had intended to kill her at any sign of defiance. Would this Human kill her given a reason? She watched the human across the table as she chewed on her food. The Human was looking at her also. His eyes weren't filled with violent intent as the others were, but it seemed his eyes held her with curiosity instead. She felt that this human would not hurt her, or at least she hoped.

"May I have your name?" He asked.

Teya finished with a bite she took and eyed the human with suspicion. "Teya." She said simply. Moss gave her a curious look.

"You mean your the daughter of the chieftain..." Moss trailed off. "You already know what happened then."

Teya nodded with sadness in her eyes. "Yes..." She stifled a sob.

"We aren't exactly sure what happened either, Teya." Moss sympathized. "But we will find out."

Teya let out a sad sigh. She already knew what happened, mostly. Moss resumed eating with quiet regret of bringing up the subject. Teya noticed his regret and moved to change the subject.

"Your name's Moss?" Teya queried.

Moss looked back to her. "Indeed. How'd you figure that?" He asked.

"One of the soldiers said that I was to be moved to your care." She replied. "For which I am becoming grateful."

Moss smiled once again. "How observant. I know how the others ask questions to their guests. I try to take as many as I can from their care." Moss explained. "I tend to be more understanding to the victims."

Teya nodded and returned to her meal as Moss did. The rest of the meal was spent in silence as the two tended to their bodies energy demands.

Moss finished his meal before the small Pokemon did. He sat and relaxed as his body digested the meal he thoroughly enjoyed. Teya finished her meal shortly after the Human did, she also sat back and enjoyed the feeling of her stomach being full. Moss spoke first.

"Alright." He started. "I need to ask you some questions about what happened in the crater."

Teya thought about it for a moment. She couldn't remember much about the crater when Qagan had fought her father, most of it was a blur. The humans that asked her before didn't like that too much.

"I'll try." She replied, unsure of herself. "I can only recall a small amount of it. When I left weeks ago... I didn't expect... so much change."

Moss saw that she was getting nervous. "Take your time, Teya. Start from the beginning. Why did you leave the crater in the first place?"

Teya thought back to the day when she left, the last straw that pushed her from the crater to get help for the Char.

"My father killed my older brother, for disobeying an order... I wasn't told what that order was. My brother was always sent on little quests for father, but my brother had refused him his last order. I still don't know why. I left to seek help to talk sense into my father. I hoped he would listen to outside input, but I should have realized if he wouldn't listen to us..." She explained.

Moss wrote some notes down in a small composition book.

"How long did it take to find help after you left the crater?" Moss continued.

Teya thought for a second. "A couple weeks." She said. "I talked to many Pokemon but had none of them help me. The farther from the crater I got the easier it was to find food and water. Some of them were even nice enough to supply me."

Moss nodded as he was continuing to write more notes.

"When did you meet Qagan?" Moss asked.

Teya smiled at the memory of it. "That's when the real story begins I think. It's a long one."

Moss laughed. "Any story Qagan is involved in usually is." He stated, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Luckily we have lots of time for you to finish your story in the 'morrow. I've been awake about 53 hours."

Teya nodded in understanding. "Where do you want me to sleep?" She asked.

Moss stood, walked over to a closet and dug through it for a minute. He pulled out a silvery blanket and draped it over a couch in the living area.

"Flame-retardant." Moss said simply. "A bit bulky but it'll keep your life-flame from burning down the building."

Teya hopped onto the couch and let down her tail on it, no fire.

Moss smiled and gave her a small wave goodnight as he lumbered off to his bedroom. "See you in the morning." He mumbled.

"Goodnight." Teya replied as she laid down to relax. She moved her head to look at a clock on the wall. 2:55am. The Human didn't seem worried that she would attempt to run. Likely because she had nowhere to run to, and because he had fed her. She wondered if Qagan was alright, the humans before said that he was in a medical wing of the complex. Teya let her mind wander through her memories of the crater. The darkness that hovered during the night, the mists during the day. What could cause such a change in a couple weeks? Her fathers madness is what concerns her the most. He babbled like his mind had been taken, nearly killed her and Qagan. Apparently these humans had intervened in the battle. Teya had to wonder why before the warm arms of sleep embraced her, letting this night of darkness be peaceful for her.

Moss was making a racket in the small kitchen behind the couch Teya was curled up on. Her eyes opened slowly as a variety of smells assaulted her nose. One of them was the most prominent and made her drool a little. She sat up and looked over the back of the couch. She smiled as the Human worked on all the food he had cooking. Moss looked back to the couch and gave a toothy grin.

"Good morning, Miss Teya!" He exclaimed with a cheerful tone.

"What is that smell?" She asked, licking her lips hungrily.

Moss chuckled as he grabbed a frying pan and held it up slightly showing the thin strips of meat that bubbled in their juices, their smell was heavenly.

"An old human recipe..." Moss explained. "We call it Bacon." He set it back on the stove and turned his attention to some of the other foods that were being cooked. He was preparing quite a few dishes.

Teya eyed them curiously. "Expecting company?" She queried.

Moss gave her a nod. "Indeed." He said simply. "He just called. Told me he was famished."

Teya shrugged. "Need any help?" She offered.

Moss smiled at her. Teya found herself wondering if that smile ever died. "Nah, I'll have my friend help when he arrives. He won't mind." He said.

Teya sat patiently watching the Human work, wishing she could help him somehow. She felt useless. He was finishing up with breakfast and setting up the table for three people. Moss looked at the clock, nearly 11 o'clock in the morning.

"Would you look at that. Seems he'll be late." Moss chuckled. "Must be some stubborn doctors working today." He helped Teya into her chair. The food teased her nose as she waited for Moss to take his seat.

"Qagan's awake?" She asked as he sat down and started to eat hungrily. Moss gave her a nod. "How bad was he when he got there?"

"He was near death." He replied with an air of nonchalance. "He heals incredibly quickly, but I have never seen him beat as badly as he was in the crater. I'm surprised he's able to move already. Though I suppose Qagan shouldn't be able to surprise me anymore." He paused for a second. "Another tidbit you picked up from your Torturers?" Teya gave him a sly smile.

The meal was being eaten incredibly slowly as talk was giving less time for chewing. Moss gave Teya some instructions on how to eat with utensils and Teya told Moss about her experience with Qagan and their trek to the crater. He listened intently to every detail and took more notes. Once the meal was finished Moss began to set plates into a sink filled with steaming water. Moss looked to the clock. 3:12pm, still no sign of Qagan. Moss flipped on the Television in the living room and changed the channel to the news.

"I'm going to go pick Qagan up in the medical wing... You can watch the T.V. If you want to. Will you be alright by yourself for a little bit?" He asked.

Teya nodded. "I'll be fine."

Moss walked to the door and slapped the button on the wall. "I'll be back in a jif." The door closed behind him. Teya sat on the couch and listened to the human on the television drone on about taxes, but her mind was set on seeing Qagan again. A smile spread on her lips.

Moss walked down the hallway at a slow pace. He knew Qagan would be angry for taking so long to meet with him. Hopefully Qagan would be inclined to forgive him once he ate some good food. From what Teya told him it seemed that Qagan often put himself in serious danger to protect her. Landed him near death twice in the last week. "Maybe Qagan has his eye on her..." Moss thought to himself. It didn't seem likely.
