Chapter one.

The rain pattered on the roof of the science block. A young wolf sat alone in a class room idly running his claws through his grey tail. Kai was a typical grey wolf, apart from been a few inches short for his 16 years of age. His head fur is quite long and has a natural semi-spiked look. He wore just a pair of tan cargo pants and a black, un-tucked dress shirt.

The classroom door swung open, slamming into the wall. An assortment of furs tumbled into the classroom: coons, two lions, a tiger, and a few other odds. The classroom filled and the teacher arrived with a fur in tow, a wolf.

"Good morning class. Had a good weekend I suppose?"

A few grunts and groans was his only reply.

"Good! Now today we have a new student. This is Dustin. He's new to the country so make him feel welcome."

Dustin was a grey wolf, very much like Kai accept about four inches taller and more muscle-toned. His form was covered by a black tee-shirt and blue cargo shorts. He was looking down slightly, obviously nervous. The teacher ushered him to a seat, right next to the fellow wolf.

Kai looked over to the new fur, smiling and offering him a paw. "Hi. I'm Kai."

Dustin took the paw and shook it lightly. "Dustin. Guess you already know that..." He said, gesturing to the front of the class where he had stood only moments before.

Kai's eyes widened a wee bit, and he thought to himself, 'Hang on a moment. Thats an American accent... Dustin... Na couldn't be.' He opened his mouth to say something but was interrupted.

"Ok class. Open your workbooks to page 224"

Through out the period Kai shot glances at the wolf next to him. "I'll show ya 'round at lunch if ya like," He whispered. Dustin looked up. "Huh? Oh... Yeah. That would be great," he whispered back with a happy smile.

The period came to an end. Furs got up and scrambled for the door. Somehow in the confusion of two dozen furs trying to get through a door at the same time Dustin and Kai made it out into the stream of furs moving down the corridor.

"Meet me here at lunch, ok?" Kai called out.

Dustin smiled "Ok. Here at lunch."

They headed off in opposite directions to there next class.

Kai padded slowly down the corridor to his next class. It was english so there was no hurry. Five minutes later he arrived, took a seat and slumped onto his desk for his usual english period nap.

"Kai! Wake the hell up and do your bloody work!"

Kai jumped, falling out of his chair, getting laughs from the rest of the class. Picking himself up and brushing his shirt he smiled at the youngish otter looming over him. "Sorry Miss" he said forcing away the smile.

She looked over him, standing a few inches taller. Her eyes narrowed into a glare. "Sorry are you?" Her brown fur shaking as she spoke, anger spewing out with her words "That's the fourth time this week!"

Kai ducked his head, ears flattened against his skull. She'd never been this angry. "I'm sorry. It's just... Well I haven't been sleeping much. It won't happen again. I'm sorry." He put on a fake quiver in his voice. He really didn't give two hoots about her or the english period.

The teacher grumbled, turned and walked back to the board. Kai sat back down, straightening his shirt.

"Nice act."

Kai turned to his right, where Marc, a white tiger, sat next to him. A smile spread across the tiger's muzzle. Kai returned the smile. "Thanks."

The rest of the morning with by with out a hitch. Dustin had settled into his classes quite well and had even caught the attention of a couple of female furs.

He sat in his history class, waiting for the lunch bell to ring. He wanted - no he needed to see that cute wolf again. He was positive he knew him. The name he knew. A friend he'd met online. A friend he hadn't talked to in ages.

*BBRRIINNGG!!*

Lunch! Finally. Dustin jumped form his seat, and grabbed his bag, following the other furs out of the class. He walked quickly down the corridor to the meeting place. 'Hope he's there,' Dustin thought to himself. He stopped outside the classroom. No one else was around.

Kai ran/walked down the corridor to the meeting place; he rounded the bend and saw Dustin waiting for him. He bounced slightly and waved, yelling, "Hiya!" He stopped in front of the classroom door. "How's your morning been?"

Dustin eyes brightened as he smiled down at the little wolf. "Oh. It was good. I s'pose... Think some of the girls in my class like me... They wouldn't stop talking to me."

Kai leaned against the door. "That's cool. Let's go get something to eat. I'm starved."

The two wolves strolled down the corridor. Neither seemed to be in a hurry. The short silence was broken by Dustin.

"Hey, um... I was wondering... Do you have Yahoo? ... I mean... I think I know you..."

Kai stopped, looking at the wolf 'It is him!' His eyes widened. "Yea. I have Yahoo. And umm... I think you do know me.... cutelillwolf."

Dustin just about hugged the smaller wolf. "It is you! This is awesome!" He was bouncing on his toes, his heart leaping into his throat. Kai was smiling wide. His best friend was here. Right here in front of him. Miracles did happen. He lunged forward, pulling his friend into a hug 'Shit. I hope he doesn't mind,' as he nuzzled into his chest. "It's soo good to finally meet you in person."

Dustin almost pulled back from the hug but decided against it. He'd always wanted to cuddle up with his friend. He petted Kai's back lightly. "I know. It's great to see you too... but umm... Maybe we shouldn't hug in the corridor... someone might see."

Kai pulled back straight away. "Shit. I'm sorry... I... well I just thought you wouldn't mind... I'm sorry." He took a step back, the quiver in his voice not an act this time.

"Hey. I didn't say that you couldn't hug me. Just not here, ok?" Dustin smiled at his friend. "Come on. Let's get something to eat."

Kai nodded, smiling just a little. The two walked together down the corridor to the lunch room, slightly closer to each other this time. Kai leaned against Dustin, smiling up at him.

Dustin's smile turned to a grin, he slipped a paw around Kai's back to his side pulling him into a hug. "Wanna come over tomorrow after school?"

Kai acted dumb. "Sure! We could play video games or something." He smiled up at the bigger wolf, giving him a wink. Dustin smiled back. "Sure. Video games."

What did you think. Be honest. But not too harsh. I upset easy.
