Chapter 2

The next day, before Mark and Tom's first class in the morning, Mark noticed that Tom was nowhere to be found. He wondered if Tom was even at school. I hope he's alright, I hope I didn't upset him too badly.

Mark took out his phone and started to text Tom.

Hey, are you alright? How come you're not at school yet?

Mark pressed send and waited for a reply. They five minute bell rang; Mark sighed, giving up hope that Tom will ever show to class or school for that matter, and started to make his way towards his Sociology class.

7:30AM

Tom's alarm clock beeped again. He moaned and slapped the snooze button without lifting his head from the pillow to see what the time was. He yawned and rubbed his puffy, red eyes, he could barely open them. He raised his head and looked at the alarm clock. He shook his head. No, I can't go to school, he thought_. Not likes._ Tom spent most the night crying and waking up from nightmares-nightmares so bad that he woke up panting with sweet covering his whole body. Tom then laid his head back down on his pillow and closed his eyes. Maybe ten more minutes, then will see.

7:54AM

Tom woke up to the sound of his phone--a text. He gave off a loud, aching groan and reached to pick up his phone; he read the text. Now he's worried about me. Fuck him, I'm not replying. He then went back to a deep sleep.

Tom took off his shoes and socks and stepped onto the beach. The warm, sunny day proved to be too perfect for anything to go wrong. The sound of the waves and the warm, light breeze were like beautiful music begging him to stay forever. Strangely, there wasn't a single person on the beach. Tom shrugged it off and walked down to the edge of the tide and stood there.

He stood in peace, watching the birds sail across the water, dropping into it, and emerging with a fish in their mouths, for the most part nothing could bother him.

Tom felt something touch his shoulder; naturally he jumped and looked behind him. "M-mark?" Mark nodded. "What are you doing here; you're supposed to be in cl-" Tom caught himself.

"I was wondering the same of you. You didn't show up to school, it was pointless to be there when you're not." Mark said softly, looking past Tom at the ocean.

"Why do I stop you from going to class?"

"Because," Mark looked into Tom's eyes. "Because you're my friend and I was worried about you."

"That doesn't mean you can ditch school."

"Yeah, and it doesn't give you a right either." Tom grabbed his left arm. He looked down at ground and said.

"Yeah, I guess you're right." They stood there in silence for awhile, Tom still staring at the ground.

"I've been thinking," Mark spoke, breaking the silence. "And I've made a mistake. Tom, I realized that I love you. I was just worried that everything that I had, and worked so hard for, would just fall apart and leave me. But then I realized that you're everything to me. I don't care if I'm called gay, I want to be with you." Tom looked up at Mark with new life in his eyes.

"Really?"

"Yes," Mark took Tom's hands in his and grasped them. "And I'm sorry if I had ever made you upset in anyway. Will you forgive me?" Tears rolled down from Tom's eyes. He nodded and blinked though his tears.

"Yes," sadness lifted from Tom's shoulders as he said yes. His eyes still gleamed with new life and Mark smiled at him. Mark then placed a hand behind Tom's head and pulled him in slowly. Tom tilted his head to the left and
