To Break A Dragon's Heart
After hours at the skate park trixie and spud decided to call it a night and head home. Jake and fido soon did the same. Fido was so tired that Jake decided to put her on his back and fly themselves home. Fido fell asleep on Jake's back on the way there so he carried her in and laid her down on his bed.
Not quit feeling tired yet Jake decided to go and watch TV.
He went downstairs and plopped down on the couch and flicked on the TV with his tail. As he sat there he thought, being the American dragon he was going to have to fight a lot of magical creatures and he thought that maybe fido could be his backup. (Knowing that this would not sit well with gramps because he would think that Jake would get too distracted fighting alongside his girlfriend.) He knew that she could hold her own in a fight, but he still made the decision to train her in helping him.
He thought about it for some time before falling asleep in front of the TV.
Jake was the first one up again that morning so he started breakfast. He was midway through cracking the eggs when he felt something brush across his leg when he bent his head down to look he was pushed flat on his back. And before he could get a word out, his mouth was clogged with his lover's tongue as fido silenced him.
Jake laughed "good morning to you too!"
Fido just laughed as well.
After they finished breakfast Jake relayed the idea over to fido.
Fido was a bit stunned.
"Jake are you sure?" she asked.
"Absolutely" he replied.
Later that day Jake decided to start her training. He flew the two of them to the roof of gramp's shop.
(So as to not wake fu dog, who was probably still asleep.)
"Okay let's start with the basics." he started all the normal stuff combat moves, blocking, and kicking. The training was rigorous as Jake was a hard instructor fido soon found out.
"Is that the beast you've got Fi? Common!"
As they moved up to sparing with each other.
"I'm trying Jake, it's just really hard."
"Well I'm holding back, and you still can't beat me and I guarantee that the opponents that we will face won't. Now get up and try again!"
Jake sounded angry for some reason.
But he was lying about holding back, fido was actually giving him a good run for his money on numerous occasions.
Fido on the other hand was sad, she had never seen this side of Jake before and was scared.
"Why is he acting like this?"
She thought to herself.
"This isn't like him at all."
Both Jake and fido were riddled scratches, burses, bite marks and were bleeding quit a lot.
"Alright that's enough for today" Jake said breathing heavily.
"Good" fido said panting.
The two headed to the door on the roof that led down to the shop. When they went into the shop they no sooner got in and they were greeted by Fu.
"Kid I'm glad you came. I just heard word that a giant is terrorizing the magaus bizarre you need to get over there ASAP!!"
"No problem fu.
They got to the bizarre and found it in total ruin.
"Who would do this?" fido said.
Just as she said it the 50ft tall rampaging giant charged out of nowhere strait towards them. They both managed to get out of the way before he crushed them.
Jake attacked first. He tackled the giant right to the ground and began slicing at his with his claws.
But he was soon thrown off and onto the ground.
Then the giant stood up, put his foot down and stomped hard onto Jake.
Jake screamed in pain as he was being crushed, he managed to hold up giant's foot up a bit to keep his ribs from being crushed.
Fido saw what was happening and acted quickly. She jumped onto a tent, putting herself at about the same level as the giant. Positing her to jump strait onto his back.
Jake saw what she was about to do and shouted,
"Fido, don't it's too dangerous!!!"
but it was too late she leapt from off of the tent right onto the giant's back and sunk her teeth deep into his neck.
The giant screamed, let up on Jake enough for him to let him escape.
But then he swung one of his arms around and grabbed fido. He held her in his hand as she growled and bared her teeth. Then he began to squeeze, trying to crush her in his grip. Then he threw her hard agent a wall. She was knocked out instantly.
Jake just looked in terror,
"NO!!!"
Fearing the worst he ran to her unconscious body. To his relief she was still breathing. But just then he noticed the giant standing over the two of them with his arms held high over his head ready to slam them down. And he did he hurled his fist down at them with all his strength, but just before they hit the ground they were stopped. The giant looked down and saw Jake holding his fists.
"You won't hurt her!!"
Jake's eyes were glowing red.
Just then he threw off the giant's arms and flew straight up to his face and with one hand he dug his claws deep into his jaw and ripped it clean off. The giant fell straight back and soon bleed to death.
Jake soon turned to fido just as she came to.
"Jake-"she started.
"I told you not to do it!"
"What?" she said still dazed.
"I told you not to jump onto him."
"But Jake he was going to kill you."
"That shouldn't matter I can't stand to see you hurt! What do you think we were training for!?! Have you forgotten everything that I thought you!!"
There was much anger in his voice, she could tell.
She said teary eyed,
"Jake, I'm sorry."
But Jake just stood there.
"Jake-"she began again.
"SHUT UP!" Jake yelled.
Fido began to cry. As the rage from the battle cooled, Jake saw what he had done and felt terrible. He went to caress her face and tell her he was sorry, but just as he did fido bit his hand.
"Keep away!"
And she took off running in the other direction.
Jake just stared at her as she ran away.
Then he realized what he had just done he flew off after her.
He searched everywhere looking for her but couldn't find her just as he was about to give up something caught his eye. He quickly flew down to it but when he found out what it was his heart sank.
It was the blue hourglass necklace that Jake gave her the first time they met.
Attached to it was a note, it read,
I'm sorry Jake, i'm sorry I couldn't be strong enough. Now I see that I'm not needed I'm leaving the city.
.fido.
Jake was stunned, the note brought him to his knees. He just sat there with the necklace in his hand.
"Fido... I'm so sorry, I didn't mean it."
After a while he took off again looking for her calling her name. Nightfall soon came and with no sign of her, he went to the top of the tallest building he could find and sat there perched on top of the antenna of the building. Looking down at the necklace wondering to himself.
"What if I never see her again?"
The thought hurt. He looked down and he saw something fall from him. It was a tear.
"Dragons don't cry."
He thought to himself.
He was thought by gramps that dragons never cry.
But just then his chest ached and he knew it was his heart that hurt.
"They do if their heart is broken."
Then he bent his head back and let out a loud roar that could be heard all around the city.
It was the roar of a heartbroken dragon.
Far on the other side of the city fido heard the roar when she did she just cried and walked away.
Jake soon went home, he was tired but he could not sleep. He wasn't surprised
The next morning he went to the shop when he went in he saw that fu, trixie and spud were all there.
"Hi guys" Jake said.
"Hey Jake" spud said back.
"Jake you look terrible!"
"Yea I didn't get to sleep last night."
"Why" trixie asked.
"Fido left."
"What, why?!?" all three of them asked.
"I was terrible to her when we stopped the giant at the magus bizarre. I got this,"
he showed them the hourglass necklace and the note she left.
All of them sat there wondering what they were going to do. Just then Jake said,
"I've got an idea."
"What?" they all asked.
"Fu help me get the amplifiers from the shop to the magus bizarre."
