Jace was sitting on the steps. "You two are great dancers." He said. "Anyway, I'm cool about, you know." He gestured in our direction. "I've suspected you two were gay for a while now." "Really?" I asked. "It was just a feeling, but now my suspicions are confirmed. But don't worry, I wont tell anyone." Jace reasured. "Wow, you've got good gaydar." Max said. We all laughed. "I hope no one heard us." I said, looking towards the door. "I doubt it." Jace said. "Most people have moved to unocupied parts of the house. C'mon, lets go upstairs." We all walked upstairs. The rest of the party was great. Me and Max danced more, seperately this time. Jace joined in too. It was a blast. Afterwards we thanked Jace and left. We ran into Haru on the way out. "I havent forgotten what you said, Skye." He sneered. "Leave him alone." Max snarled. "Oh, going to defend your boyfriend. How cute." He said in a mocking tone. "That's it, you asked for it." I snapped a high kick to his face." His nose gushed blood. My anger shattered and was instantly replaced with guilt. "I'll get some tissues!" I ran inside and grabbed a box of tissues. I ran back out and handed the tissues to Max. "Is he okay?" I asked him as he gave Haru tissues to hold to his nose. "He's gonna be fine. You didn't break anything." I heaved a sigh of releif. "It's just a minor bruise. Say, that was a pretty good kick there." I blushed. "Thanks, I took karate for a while. I was a brown belt." "We should get going." Max said after we had taken Haru inside and left him in Jace's care. We walked home in silence. When we got home I wrote Haru an email saying how bad I felt about kicking him. I went to bed feeling like I had an elephant on my chest. The next morning Max and I caught the bus to school. Once there I saw Haru coming towards me. Oh no. Here it comes. I looked to my side and saw Max with his fists balled up, looking ready to fight. I felt a surge of gratitude for Max. He was willing to defend me even at the cost of suspension. Haru walked up and said. "I accept your apology, Skye. I shouldn't have made fun of you or Max. I guess I deserved to be kicked in the face. I think I should thank you for it. It snapped me into focus." "Thank you." I said stunned. "And I guess, you're welcome." Haru walked to his locker. I turned to Max. "Well that was unexpected." "Pinch me, I must be dreaming." He responded. I pinched him and we both started laughing as we walked to class. In biology we talked about genetics and DNA. I didn't really pay attention, I was holding hands with Max under the table we shared. Max loved me! I loved him! We were a couple! I could hardly beleive it. After school we walked home. "This has been the most eventful week ever. I found out my best friend was gay, my mom died, I kissed you, I finaly got a date to a party, I fell in love, You loved me back, Jace found out we were gay, and I kicked Haru in the face." "Speaking of dates," Max said. "Wanna go out for dinner tonight?" "Sure." I replied. "Where do you want to go?" "How about Red Garden?" Max suggested. "That sounds nice." I replied. Do you want to invite Jace?" "Sure." Max replied. "Let's get home and finish that Geometry homework." I said. Max smiled. "That's what I like about you. You're smart and you've got your priorities sorted out." "Is that all?" I asked, teasingly. "No, not even close. There is so much more. You're beautiful, you're kind..." I blushed. "Awww! You're so cute when you blush." We walked up to the door. "Well, that's the last question." I said after we had finished our homework. " Let's get dressed for dinner." I got dressed in a red shirt with a black tie. I wore a black suit coat on top. I opened the door and Max was standing there, already dressed. He was wearing a crisp white shirt and a blue tie. "You look really handsome." I said, admiring him. "Thanks, You look great too." "We're meeting Jace there, right?" I asked. "Yeah." Max confirmed. At the car, Max opened the door for me. "After you, sir." I smiled as I got in. "Thank you." He winked at me and went around to get in. When we got there we saw Jace waiting. I waved to him and he walked over. He was wearing all black. "You two look so great together." He said. Max put his arm around me and I hugged him. Jace whipped his camera out and took a few pictures. Jace carries a camera everywhere he goes. Photography is his hobby. "Let's eat, I'm starved!" Max exclaimed. I slapped him playfully. "Be polite. We have a guest!" We took a minute to stop laughing and went inside. "Hi. We have a reservation under the name Max." Max told the server. "Come with me." The server said as she led us to a booth in the back. I sat across from Max and Jace. Max told me to close my eyes. "No peeking!" I covered my eyes. "You can open your eyes now!" Max told me. I opened them and Max was standing, holding a single red rose out to me. "It's so beautiful!" I exlaimed standing up. "Thank you." I kissed him gently on the cheek. "I love it. And you." "I love you too." He replied. I noticed few people staring at us. "Don't worry about them." Max whispered. We sat back down. The server came back and gave us our food. I took a bite of my grilled chicken. "Mmm. This is really good." I said. Max dove hungrily into his steak, juices dribbling down his chin. I took a napkin and wiped them off. We exchainged a kiss, quickly so no one noticed. Jace just watched. "Wow, you sure love each other." "Heck yes!" Max exclaimed. He pulled me close and our muzzles met in a kiss. "I love you." I whispered. I didn't care if people were staring. "I love you too, Skye." He whispered back. We finished our food and Max and I pulled out our wallets at the same time. "No, it's on me." Jace said as he paid the waitress. "Thank you" Max and I said in unison. We all burst out laughing. "You two are so alike! You're perfect for each other!" Jace exclaimed as we left. "I've got to take some more pictures!" Max grabbed me in his arms and twirled me around as Jace snapped pictures. People were staring but I was so happy to be with Max that I didn't care. I had forgotten how strong he was. I hugged him and we kissed, the camera flashing all the while. We walked to the parking lot. "You're going to have to give us some of those pictures." Max said to Jace. "Yeah, we're thinking of starting a srapbook." I told him. "Aww! That's so cute!" Jace exclaimed as we got in the car. "What will you title it?" I put my arm around Max "What do you think of 'Our Beautiful Journey'?" "Well, I for one love it." Max interjected. "Me too." Jace agreed. "After all, It has been a beautiful journey." It just seemed like the perfect moment so I pulled Max towards me and pressed my muzzle against his, my tounge exploring the expanse of his mouth. Max's tounge did the same. It was inexplainable. I didn't ever want to break from him but, after all, I had to breathe sometime. Reluctantly, breathlessly, I broke from Max's muzzle. "That was amazing." I gasped. I looked over at Jace. I swear his jaw was literally touching the ground! "Wow. Just wow." He exclaimed. "There is no other way to describe that. That's why I took pictures!" We crowded around Jace's camera. I burst out laughing when I saw the people staring in the background. "Look at that guy." I said, pointing to a man in the background who had dropped his groceries. "I think I'll help him with that." I walked across the street to where the man was picking up the last of his groceries. I picked up a loaf of bread. "Here, you dropped this." I smiled blindingly. My smile was always getting called that. What can I say? I'm just a naturally happy fur! Maybe it's the Golden Retreiver in me. He took it from me quickly, thanked me, and hurried away nervously. I walked back to my friends. "We should get going." Jace said. "Yeah" I agreed looking at the darkening sky. "It's getting late." We dropped Jace off at his house and drove home. Max had started sleeping at my house. We shared my bed because I had a queen size. A few hours later, I lay in bed listening to the sound of Max's breathing. I never got tired of that sound. "I will always love you." I whispered in his ear. "Never forget that."
