I had no idea what I was going to do, which way to pick. To the left the fire suppression systems were keeping the fire to a minimal but who knows how long they could last before they collapsed and ran out of reserve power. To my right panels and I-Beams were moaning falling to pieces. For the first time in my life I was think not only of someone else, but my own well being as well.

I heard a loud Moan to my left and as I turned my head I saw part of the fire suppression system burst and spray white non-conductive foam and gel everywhere along the entrance way of the hall, pouring out of the broken pipe with no mercy. It was running at full blast which meant it would not last much longer. As I watched the foam spray out of the pipe like a broken sprinkler head I heard another noise above me, it was staticy and grainy. I looked at the source of the noise which was a speak and focused my ears as best as I could at it, and what I heard scared me more then I could have imagined.

"Warning! Structural collapse immanent. Fire Suppression systems at 10% capacity. Reserve power depletion in 45 seconds. Critical..."

Right then something had and metal swung from the ceiling and hit me in the back with such force I was knocked to the ground without time to catch myself. As I tried to make my body respond of move to my commands it would not. I was stuck under an I-Beam that had fallen down over me but not crushed me.

My body was out of power and my vision started to black out. The smell of smoke and building materials aflame was making me sick, and the lack of oxygen making me tired. Right as I put my head down to sleep to my apparent death the entire wall in the right hallway gave way and fell outside letting in a rush of air with fresh oxygen. I couldn't help but take a deep breath of the super heated air and while it burned my throat I had enough energy to think and move.

As I crawled my way out from under the beam I could see more and more of the right hallway falling about and the walls collapsing outward. The Econ room was about 4 doors down either hallway in the middle of the building. I looked behind me to discover the left hallway was no longer an option by any means as the oxygenated air gave rise to more fire and the suppression system was spent.

I knew I didn't have much time and I had to move and as quick as I could. I knew I was bleeding somewhere on my back from where I was hit but I was blocking out the pain as much as I could. I made my way over parts of the building and through mazes of pipes and wires as I approached the door marked 25-107. The door was clear of major debris so I turned to handle and to my surprise opened effortlessly.

As I entered the room I was surprised what I saw, and horrified. The room was only held up by its side walls and some integrity given by the roof. The back and front walls were completely crumbled and offering peaks of the room in front and behind it. Two Massive I-Beams had also fallen from the roof and landed diagonally in the room, crushing everything. The ceiling was only being held up by what seemed to be nothing as far as I could see.

"Serail!" I heard a voice call from the inside rear corner of the room. I looked to that direction to find only a handful of student huddled together, and Alki trying to make them remain calm.

"Alki!" I screamed not being able to hold my excitement that he was alive... even if that meant that we were going to die together. I ran over and hugged him as hard as my injured and bleeding body could. He felt so good, so stable, so dependable. If we were going to die I wanted to be holding him, and him holding me.

Returning the hug he asked me if there was a way out. Knowing there was I nodded but warned him that there was a good chance that not everyone would make it. I didn't bother buttering up the truth, after all what was left of the class which was about less than half just saw all their friends die by crushed to death not all that long ago. I also felt that they needed to know the truth. I told them the only possible route, told them that there was barely enough oxygen to breath, and about the building imminent collapse. Bravely each one nodded and stood up, and even though they seemed brave and ready on the outside, I saw in their eyes that they were in pain and scared.

Leading the way I led them out of the class into the hallway where more of the building had fallen. I looked up into the ceiling and saw the last 3 I-Beam still well in place but failing. I motioned for them to follow me and quickly. Alki volunteered to stay in the back regardless of my pleas so he could assist any stragglers. It was at that moment I realized Alki had a gift I never had, caring about others more than yourself.

As we crouched and weaved our ways to the front entrance of the building, more small bits of material landed on us. Some were hot and singed peoples fur causing them to yelp but they didn't dare to stop to examine that damage. I looked up at the ceiling again at the beams and they still looked stable, however the fire from the left side of the building was spreading causing stuff above us to catch fire.

We were still a good 40 seconds from the entrance when all the sudden a loud moan overcame every other noise. We all looked up to see one of the beams twist and bend inwards on itself. We quickened our pace to as quick as we could not caring about having to run into electrical wires or through small splotches of fire. They had seen what an I-Beam could do and nothing compared to its ability to kill you in a quick hurry.

As we reached the entrance the I-Beam became unseated behind Alki and swung towards us smashing everything that stood in its way. One by one we cleared the entrance and watched in horror as the I-beam came closer and closer to Alki and the stragglers.

The stragglers made it out of the entrance one by one followed by Alki who was running as fast as he could but not fast enough to outmatch the closing beam. All of the sudden he lifted one of the sleeves up on his shirt and punched some buttons on a metallic device I had never seen before. After he was done punching the buttons an electrical burst came up around is body forming interlaced diamonds that flared and then faded.

Alki realizing he wasn't going to make it pushed a few more buttons causing another burst and the interlaced diamonds along his backside moved their way to his front and linked in a double layer. Alki stopped and turned around to face the beam crossing his arms in front of him in an "X" and let the beam ram him head on.

As the beam rammed him the diamonds flared and with a loud deep reverb shattered while repealing him backwards at no less than 20 MPH. He flew out of the entrance as graceful as a fish out of water and landed on the ground 30 yards behind us with the last bit of the shield absorbing the brunt of the impact. As he lay motionless on the ground I heard more high pitch whines from above. A ship I have never seen before in my life was approaching us at an unspeakable speed. It was the size of the standard assault cruisers but it looked... modular. Like its parts could be removed and exchanged for other parts depending on combat and need. It wasn't like normal ship which seemed to be a solid chunk of metal and alloys, this one had viable seems and latches.

As it approached our location it slowed down and evened its ascent much like a plane did. I was to scared and interested to run, plus Alki was unconscious and I wasn't just about to leave him here alone with an unknown ship that was almost 5 football fields long. All I could do is watch as it maneuvered itself over the tree tops and stop right over us activating its anti-gravity generator. It then continued to lower itself down to about 5 meters from the ground and stop as if hitting an invisible barrier.

I kept my eyes on the hatch waiting for whatever it was to come out. I couldn't think it would be an enemy since that kind of thing was unheard of, and the fact that the ship was made out of the same materials and all of the other ship I have seen. It did however seem, as I have said before, different and a bit off normal. The design of the ship didn't make much sense when you looked at it, it wasn't sleek or nifty looking, nor was it something a child would consider having a toy of. It had a small centrally located thruster apparatus in the rear, a long straight center with two wing like fins coming out either side on the bottom edge which was beveled, and a bow which sloped down a good 3 or 4 meters and then went back to horizontal for an additional 10 meters or so and had 2 fins on either side that were shorter than the main body's.

The Main hatched hissed open will with lightning speed and unexpectancy and out jumped a figure that was pitched black with bright glowing orange eyes. He didn't even wait for the ramp to extend and the 5 meter jump barely seemed to faze him. It took my brain a few seconds to recognize the figure as a 6 foot 7 inch panther with midnight black fur. He was also huge, weighing well over 300 pounds, all muscle.

As he came out of his half crouch he eyed his Alki and walked right passed me as if I didn't exist. It was at the point that I realized that everyone that we had saved left and I was by myself. He bent over and looked at Alki closely and poked around to feel for broken bones. After he was done probing my mate he turned to me and simply asked with no emotion or hint of care who I was "What happened to him?" His voice was deep and bassful, and filled every particle of air with sound.
