Royal Guardian Chapter 2: The Kingdom of Eldin?
#2 of Royal Guardian
Well here's chapter 2, I finally had time to work on it thank God, if you haven't read the first chapter then go back and read it, if you have then let's get on with the story...
Legal things: I own all the rights to my original characters which include, Jared, Kody, Katey, Kaelyn, Dawn and more to come in later chapters, I do not own pokemon so any pokemon characters I use belong to their rightful owners
Chapter 2
I walked into my house to hear my mom screaming, "Jared?! What happened, who hurt you?" I raised an eyebrow knowing that I had received no injuries from Katey but I remembered all the blood on my shirt.
"No mom I'm not injured, Kody is and he needs your help now." I set him down as my mom looked at the three claws sticking out of his chest, she was shocked by this but even more shocked when she saw the pendant. Did she somehow know Kody? I pushed the thought out of my mind as my mom said, "Jared, grab a bucket of hot and cold water, my first aid kit, my purse and three wash cloths. NOW!!!"
I ran to grab the stuff my mom told me to get as Kody started to wake up.
Kody's POV
I woke up exhausted and with serious pain in the right side of my chest, "W-Where am I?" I tried to sit up but a woman gently pushed me back down, "Don't move, we need to get those claws out of you. Jared hurry up!!!!!" He screamed back at her, "I'm trying!!!"
I looked back at the woman and said, "Dawn?" she nodded as Jared came back with some medical stuff, "Here bite this?" She handed me a hard leather wallet, "Uhhh... why?"
"Because we don't have anything to put you under with and this is going to hurt like hell." I gave her a weird look and bit the leather wallet as she got a grip on the claws, "Ready?" I gave her a less than confident nod and closed my eyes bracing myself, "Okay I'm ready."
She started pulling the claws out and I screamed out in pain, I arched my back and tried to make her stop, "Jared hold him down!!!" Jared got on top of me pinning my arms and legs down. All I could do was bite down hard on the leather, but that only distracted me from the pain.
When she got the claws halfway out the pain became too much for me and I passed out. I woke up to find myself on a soft bed in an unknown room, I tried to sit up but I felt a sharp pain in my chest that made me stop. I looked at my chest and saw that I was wrapped in gauze and bandages.
"I'm okay?"
"Yeah, my mom said I made it in time, she told me if I was any later there wouldn't have been enough time to get the claws out and you would have bled to death." I looked up to see Jared leaning up against the door frame with my pendant in his hand.
I looked back at myself again to see I was a lucario, he walked over to the bed and said, "Alright, I want some answers. Why the hell was I almost killed? Why is everyone calling me king? Who and what are you, and how do you know my mom's name?"
I sat up, rubbed my eyes and said, "The first and second question are tied, you're the descendent of the great king Bowen, and Katey was one Gerudo's assassins sent to kill you so you couldn't take the throne that is rightfully yours. As for who I am, I'm your guardian as you already know, I was sent to protect you after we finally found you, after word got out that Katey was sent to kill you, I came over as fast as I could but we hadn't known she had been there for two years already and that you were her boyfriend. As to what I am, I'm a lucario and that pendant you're holding is what helps me change back to my human form, and your final question that Dawn is your caretaker not your mother, I met her when I was still a pup and she helped take care of me."
He had this shocked look on his face, I could tell he was shattered as he said, "W-What do you mean, of coarse she's my mom." I shook my head, "No she isn't. You were given to her before your real parents were killed." He sat down on the bed side with this devastated look, "I'm really confused here," he held his head, "Dawn isn't my real mom, and my real parents were killed?"
I sighed, "Yeah but to clear things up I'll start from the beginning. Like I said you are the last descendant of King Bowen, he is king of Eldin. He ruled the kingdom with his brother, Gerudo, but he was always second in command and was always jealous of Bowen. Until one day Bowen came down with a fatal illness, then Gerudo took charge. All the residents and followers of the king had high hopes for Gerudo. But... we had no idea of his evil intentions. He ruled as a dictator and went to war with the neighboring lands for control and power."
I sighed and continued, "He was a cruel king and the kingdom was soon over run by darkness and Gerudo was the cause of it. All hope was lost until word got out that Bowen had a son who was married. Word got to Gerudo about it and he felt his son could be a threat if they ever tried to take back the kingdom so he sent assassins to kill them. I was just a newborn pup when all this was happening so I don't know anything except for what my mother told me. She told me that the son's wife had a newborn son but they had to give him to the caretaker, Dawn, she used to be my caretaker until you were born. After she accepted the task, Bowen's son and daughter in law ran off but... Gerudo's assassins got to them and they were immediately disposed of. Then fifteen years later I became guardian, and was sent to find you, and the rest you already know."
He shook his head, "That's not my problem, and you've got the wrong guy." I blinked and said, "Jared, your kingdoms falling apart.", "I SAID NO!!! I'm not destined to be king or anything. I'm just an ordinary teenager." I sighed and answered in a neutral tone, "Could an ordinary teenager create a ball of pure light or a destructive magic fire ball?"
He looked at me surprised, "How did you know?" I grinned and said, "I can read aura, I may have been unconscious but my senses still worked. I sensed powerful magic from you and a few seconds later, Katey's aura disappeared. So you're not ordinary in the least Jared."
Jared's POV
He's right I guess that was magic but... does that mean I really could be king? "Okay I guess I'll believe you." Kody's tail started to wag as he sat beside me, "Great so you'll save Eldin?", "Slow down Kody, I didn't say that. I said I believe you and even if I wanted to I couldn't, I don't know how I used magic or how to fight."
"I can teach you how to fight and how to use aura, but magic we'll need to find someone else for." I nodded as he stood up and took his pendent back, "So where are my clothes?" I looked back at him and said, "They were ripped beyond repair and covered in blood but don't worry, we have some clothes that will fit you."
He raised an eyebrow, "This isn't some kind of joke is it?" I laughed saying, "No, but they're a little different from your old ones, and I have one more question. Let's say I say yes to save Eldin, then how would we get there?"
He rubbed the back of his neck saying, "Well, we were supposed to get called back when I found you but I don't know what's going on."
"Called back? You mean we can't fly there or anything."
He chuckled and shook his head, "Not that simple, it's kind of in an alternate dimension, but I don't expect you to understand." I opened my mouth to ask another question about it but I decided not to, "So what, do we wait until we get called back?"
He stretched and yawned loudly, "I guess so but if we weren't called back already then something must have happened, we might have to wait a few days. So we just go along with our normal routines, including school."
I groaned and said, "But school sucks, and there's not much for you there anyways." He shrugged and answered, "There's you and who else is going to watch over you and keep you out of trouble?" We both chuckled at that, "I guess no one, and you better turn human before my little sister s..." I was interrupted by a loud shriek, "Too late.", "Aww he's so cute." A five year old girl wearing a purple dress walked in, "Cute? I'm not cute."
She smiled and walked over to Kody, "Of course you are, you're just like a puppy." She grabbed his ear and pulled him down so he was on the floor, he yelped when she pulled his ear and he started growling, "I'm not cute girlie, I'm a highly trained fighter and," She started scratching behind his ear and he calmed down.
"Ahh that feels soooo good." His tail started wagging as she said, "See, you are cute.", "Careful Kody, you're a highly trained fighter remember?" I told him in a mocking tone, "Ah screw that, she can call me cute as much as she wants, as long as she keeps doing this."
I laughed and said, "Okay Kaelyn, he's had enough, and he's not your dog." She made a pouty face and stopped scratching Kody's ear, "Can't I play with him some more?", "No, now leave Kaelyn." She walked out of the room hanging her head as Kody got to his feet, "Thanks, I don't know what I would have promised her if she kept that up."
We looked at each other and burst out laughing at how funny that could have been. Kody calmed down a little, "Well I should get going, I don't want to suffocate you or anything if I'm around you this much."
He headed downstairs and was almost out the door when I stopped him, "Wait. Do you have a place to stay?" He stopped in midstep and answered, "Not really but I'm sure I'll find a place.", "Well you're more than welcome to stay here if you want." His ears perked up, "Really?", "Sure, I don't see why not. My mom knows you're my guardian and Kaelyn seems to like you. Besides you're not well enough to leave anyways."
He walked back in smiling, "Thanks Jared." I shrugged it off saying, "No problem bro, I'd get into too much trouble without my guardian anyways." We both laughed as I showed him the guest room, "This is where you're staying, sorry it's not much but at least there's a bed and there's your new clothes."
I pointed to a pair of jeans, a blue button shirt and a white t-shirt folded on the bed, "Hmm... not bad." He looked at the clock and continued, "We better get to bed, night Jared and umm... thanks for saving my life and everything."
I smiled at him, "No prob, you did the same for me." I walked into my room, changed into more comfortable clothes, and crawled into bed. I fell asleep faster than I thought I would, I must have been more tired than I thought.
I opened my eyes to find that I was in a castle that was in ruin, walls were cracked and crumbling, there were plants and vines growing on and up the few remaining pillars and walls and there was a throne on the other side of the room. A man was sitting in it, he stood up and started walking towards me, "Hello Jared."
His voice was dark and cold, "H-How do you know my name?" The man laughed and his body became covered in pure darkness, "I'm surprised you don't know your great uncle Gerudo." My eyes grew wide in fear as he came closer, "Y-You're Gerudo? No, stay away from me, I could never be related to someone as evil as you."
I backed away and tried to run but he snapped his fingers and I was suddenly binded by heavy chains, "You'll fail boy, you're not fit to be king." My fear was replaced by anger that came out of nowhere, "Oh, like you are? You're destroying Eldin and ruling it with darkness. Besides, I have Kody to help me stop you."
He laughed at me mockingly, "You mean that weak guardian? You and him are powerless against me. I'm the most powerful being to exist, you don't even know how to use magic or fight." I glared at him and clenched my fists, "He's not weak, and I'll learn, I'll become stronger than you and kick your sorry ass."
He no longer looked amused as he stood face to face with me but I held my ground, "Big talk for such a young boy." I glared at him and shot back, "Oh you want me to back it up? I would if you got these damn chains off me." He chuckled, "Why would I do that? You've got courage kid, I like that and I must say I'm impressed but maybe I should just end that courage right now." He summoned a sword and drew it back, all that courage that was in me just left as fast as it came in, 'No, this is Katey all over again, but Kody isn't here this time.'
"Such a shame to waist someone with as much potential power as yourself, but I must kill you now. Goodbye boy." He thrust his sword as I screamed, "NOOOOO!!!!!"
Well thats the end of chapter 2 and I don't know when the next chapter will be up, I'm going through a shit ton of stuff that I'm not handling so well, so it might be awhile before I can get chapter 3 up. I'm open for character ideas if anyone wants to be a character, just pm me the ideas and we'll go from there, I can only take so much so if yours isn't in it's because I couldn't fit him/her in and if it's not in the next chapter that doesn't mean it won't be in it either, it might be the chapter after that one or later, so please be patient.
