Pokémon Short Story 1) Absol's wish...

A lone creature was running through the forest at full speed. It was near pitch black to any normal Pokémon, but not to her. The only light source was the full moon that night. "Damn", she thought, "I know I heard the cry for help somewhere around here..." At that precise moment, she heard the scream again. "Help! Help me! Anyone!" She tried to increase her speed, but that resulted her in stumbling and eventually, falling over. "Damn it" she thought. She took off again in the direction of the scream.

"Anyone, anyone at all, please help me!" The Pokémon was in trouble. He was being chased by two evil Pokémon, only wanting to take advantage of his special power. "I'm going to try hit him again", one of the two yelled out to the other one. The Raichu charged up his electrical power, and let it loose in a powerful Thunderbolt. It hit the Pokémon right on its back, and it fell from the air, paralysed. "Got you now", declared a smug voice. The Raichu grabbed the paralysed Pokémon and held him up against the tree.

"This is the deal, you grant us one wish each, and we'll let you go, agreed? After all you are Jirachi, the wish-granter, correct?", asked the Raichu.

Jirachi was struggling to move against the Raichu's strength. And the paralysis didn't help him either. He could only watch the Luxray pace impatiently behind his companion. "No, i would never grant anything to evil Pokémon such as you!"

"Well then", replied the Luxray, "perhaps you will need a bit of... convincing". The Luxray gave the Raichu a grin. His teeth started to spark violently. "Let's see how you feel after this!" exclaimed the blue-furred canine, as he advanced towards the Wish-Granter, his teeth still sparking. Jirachi braced for the blow...

BAM!!!!!!!!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Well, it seems like I arrived here just in time". The white furred barghest declared. Apparently, she had stomped on the Luxray's head to nullify the Thunder Fang, and to cause quite a bit of damage towards his face. His face was up to his ear in the ground. This was no ordinary Pokémon...
After recovering from the shock, the Luxray, with some struggle, pulled his half-buried head out of the ground. He looked around for his attacker, and his eyes came to rest on an Absol.
"What were you trying to do, kill me?", he spat at the Absol's feet; his spit mixed with blood," You FREAK!".
The Absol recoiled from the outburst of rage from the electric type. She expected him to be angry, but nevertheless, he took it too far. "I'm the freak? Who's the Pokémon who just chased down a poor, helpless Pokémon? You! And you! HAVE! THE NERVE! TO CALL ME! A FREAK!?!?"
The Luxray smiled evilly at her. "You don't realise who this is, do you? This is Jirachi, the one and only." he claimed proudly. "And we captured him".
"Jirachi huh... Never heard of him..."
Both the Luxray's and Raichu's jaws dropped. Jirachi opened his eyes in confusion.
"Never heard of Jira- well I never-, began Raichu.
"What's the big deal? From the sound of it, you act like he is really special..."
"He is special, very special. He's-"
BOOM!!
The Absol had fired a Shadow Ball at the Luxray's feet. The Luxray, after being blasted a metre into the air, was crumpled on the broken ground, where he was previously standing. He was barely conscious, with blood dripping down his face. "What -huff- was that for?" he groaned out. "You let your guard down; I saw my chance and took it." The Luxray finally gave up his strength, and passed out.
"YOU BASTARD!" exclaimed the Raichu. He releases his grip on Jirachi, making him fall to the ground; sparks still shocking his body. Regardless, Raichu got down on all fours, and started to start a run at his friend's attacker. At the same time, his body building up electricity. By the time he got to full speed, his body was completely covered in an electrical aura.
"So, Volt Tackle ay? I know just how to deal with that".
The Raichu knew he had her; Volt Tackle was practically a one-hit kill for any of the unfortunate souls that ever got hit by his. Although, using it had a pretty big price...
She raised her hoof out in front of her body. He was going to collide with her foot, not her body. Not a problem, the important thing was getting the electrical current into her body. Besides, his speed would surely knock her back...
But then, something he didn't consciously notice her body sort of... twinkled... The Raichu's forehead made contact with her foot. However, instead of knocking her back, as he planned for it to happen, she was like an unmoveable object. Because of this, not only did his back have to bend at an impossible angle to get his body through the space between her leg and the ground, the pain of your forehead meeting an immoveable, practically unbreakable object, along with the recoil of using Volt Tackle, that's a lot of pain for one Pokémon to handle.
"Man, don't you love Detect, my dear Raichu?" She enjoyed teasing her opponents after defeating them all. She turned to face the Raichu, but found him unconscious. "And what an exhilarating crunch that was", she continued, as if he could still hear her. "Was that your back? I sure hope not. If that was as bad as it sounded, you will definitely need help".
She turned to face the captured Pokémon she had defended. "Are you ok?" she calmly asked the Jirachi.
"Yeah, I should be fine. Let me see if I can get up". He floated about 4 centimetres into the air, then fell back down due to paralysis. "Damn it, you will need to wait a sec".
The Jirachi got into a sitting position and closed his eyes. His yellow body began to glow green. His blue headbands glowed in the eerie night darkness. When he opened his eyes again, he had no problem moving around at all.
"Ahh, good as new".
"What was that?"
"That was Refresh. It heals any status problems I have".
Absol shot him a quizzical look. "If you could use that move, why not use it first then defeat them yourself?"
Jirachi narrowed his eyes at the Absol. "Because shut up", was all he said.
After a few seconds of silence, the Legendary spoke up again. "My apologies, I haven't introduced myself properly yet. I, am Jirachi, also known as the Wish-Granter. Thank you for saving me. In return, I will grant you any wish you want. You can make it now, or take as long as you want."
"I hope I don't seem rude or anything, but no thanks. It's widely known that I do this for no personal gain at all. I do not want anything from you." She walked away with a yawn. "Bed time", she thought.
"Ok Mrs Absol, but I'm not taking no for an answer. Just say the magic words whenever you want, and your wish will be granted". The Wish-Granter floated away, presumingly to his secret cave.
"Well I'm sorry Jirachi, but right now my life is as perfect as it gets".
Three Years Later
The old Absol was now sitting in her cave, watching the pups of other Pokémon play happily in the sun. While in her cave, she was unnoticed by them, which was a good thing.
In her prime, she patrolled the forest at night for Pokémon in trouble. Being a dark type, she never had a problem with any trouble makers, most of them being ghosts. Nowadays, she had nothing to do but to keep herself warm, eat, sleep, watch the young pups play and wait for death to come for her. She had chosen a very good spot to live in during her old age; there was a lake about half a kilometre from her home, and whenever she needed to eat, all she had to do was trek up the mountain for a while, and she would come across a batch of Oran and Sitrus berries. Her favourite berries, Pechas, were a bit more up the mountain; they seemed to flourish in higher altitudes. She often thought about planting a Pecha bush outside her cave, but they were sweet and fattening; besides, she needed the exercise.
However, in the past three years, Absols had become feared. All of the dark types had; with the exception of Umbreons. Whenever she went for a drink, the path was always clear for her. No-one dared to cross her path. If someone was eating a berry when she went up the mountains, they would, upon seeing her, immediately scamper away before she could say a word. As a result of this, she always felt alone. She found that this was mostly a good thing. That way she would no emotional ties keeping her to this place.
She continues watching the pups. The only ones left were an Eevee, a Growlithe and a Vulpix. The original group comprised of two more: a Buizel and a Sandshrew, but they had been playing for a couple of hours and many had been called home for dinner, even though the sun still had an hour until it set. The pups were playing "Bite the Tail". The general goal was to bite for 'it' to bit another Pokémon's tail, then they would become 'it'. The teenage Pokémon played a rougher version, where they had to bite the tails until they were dragged to the ground. Obviously, none tailed Pokémon couldn't play; they played "Ear Tag" instead, which had the same general idea.
"Haha, you're 'it' Growlithe", the Eevee cheerfully stated while skilfully dodged a lunge from Growlithe.
The Absol sighed. She always envied the young ones. Always full of life, eager to learn and play around with their friends. The Absol's eyes drooped down. The last thing she said before she fell asleep was "I wish I was young again".
Meanwhile, Thousands of Miles away
Jirachi woke up with a start. "Hmm? Did someone make a wish? Oh... I see! Young? Interesting..."
The legendary floated a meter into the air and twirled around for a few seconds. He started to glow blue. As quick as it started, he stopped. He stopped glowing too."It is done; my debt has been repaid. Now I can rest again". He yawned; and in a matter of seconds fell back into a deep slumber once again...
Meanwhile, Thousands of Miles away
It was morning. The Absol woke up and started stretching. She was no longer old. In fact, she was no older then the pups that were playing yesterday. Unaware of any changes, she went outside to think about what she should do today. Well, it seems her stomach had an idea because at that moment it rumbled quite loudly. Giving herself a small grin, she started the hike up the mountain. Today, it took her less than half the time it usually took her to walk up the mountain. "Strange, I must have gotten a really good rest last night". Although, this thought was pushed out of her mind when she saw someone at the berry bushes. "Oh great, another person that'll be scared of me".
She walked up to a bush bearing a massive Sitrus berry, picked it, and took a small bite out of it. It was Sitrus season, and the berry was just right. A small groan of pleasure to her taste buds escaped her lips."Good eh?" asked a deep voice, she knew it was male.
She turned around quickly, surprised someone was actually speaking to her. "Never liked the berries myself, personally". The abrupt conversation was ended by the male Pidgeot spreading its wings and flying of somewhere, possibly to find a mate. The Absol, however, was dumbfounded. "U-Umm... Arr-". No-one had said a single word to her in over a year. "That was weird..."
After a good Sitrus berry breakfast, Absol sat back down in her cave to try get some more sleep... But she couldn't. She was just bursting with energy. Eventually, she just gave up and went outside. As soon as she reached the outside world, she could hear the pups playing their little game. From the sounds of it, she assumed it was "Hide and Seek". "Why not go see them, got nothing better to do..."
She reached the clearing where the Eevee was counting. She frowned. The Eevee looked a lot bigger since yesterday... Nothing could grow that fast...
"97... 98... 99... 100... Ok, ready or not, here I come". The Eevee shouted out the overused line
"Oh, hello there. What's your name?" Absol was expecting this, and quickly responded with "Morning, my name is Absol, do you mind if I play with you?"
The Eevee, taken back from the introduction to sudden request, quickly changed his expression from surprise, to a big, cheesy grin. "Of course you can. I hope you don't mind if you wait here while i find them".
"Of course not".
5-10 minutes later
"Ok everyone, I hope you will like this new friend I made".
"Friend? I've never had a friend before..."
Absol knew that they were all the same Pokémon as yesterday: Eevee, Vulpix, Growlithe, Buizel and Sandshrew...
Eevee seemed to be like a leader to the group; always near the front with a friendly face on. He gave the aura of an upbeat Pokémon.
Vulpix (Absol easily observed) had a crush on the Eevee, her eyes constantly darting over to Eevee.
Growlithe was easily the aggressive one in the group. Baring his teeth to look ferocious, just daring for Absol to make a move.
The Buizel seemed hypo and unusually happy. He just couldn't stand still without twitching.
The Sandshrew was standing a bit back from the rest... She was staring at the ground she was standing on, twiddling her thumbs. Absol guessed this was due to timidness...
"Well now that we all know each-other, let's continue playing!"
A reasonable amount of hours later
"Man that was a fun day"
"Yeah" was all the Absol replied with.
The rest of the group had long gone. Only Eevee and Absol were left, and they were just pointlessly wondering around the forest.
"I truly can't thank you enough for dealing with that bully, Gengar. "
The Absol had been wearing a smile nearly the whole day. Hearing this made her feel even happier. "It was really nothing, he just chose the wrong Pokémon to pick on".
"Yeah, but it doesn't mean i can't thank you. By the way, why are you still out? It's about 9:30 and you don't seem very worried at all..."
"My parents died a long time ago..." the Absol was still completely oblivious to the changes that had happened to her... "I should be asking you that question..."
"My mother is a Vapoureon; she can't come out during the winter. My father is an Umbreon, and is nocturnal. Did you feel that? I think it's raining..."
Raining was a huge understatement... In ten seconds flat, the rain was near torrential...
"Quickly, my home is near here". Absol had to scream at the top of her lungs just so she could hear her own voice.
After two or three minutes of careful running, both Eevee and Absol arrived safely in the cave. "I-Isnn-Isn't this the c-c-c-cave where th-t-the monster lives?" He was stuttering and shivering due to the cold. They were both drenched to their skin.
"No, I've lived here for two years now; I've never seen a monstrous being in here..." She walked over to the spot where she usually slept. It was like a little ditch where her back could fit in comfortably. Unfortunately, the rain had flooded this small ditch and formed a big puddle. "What's this, this can't be right..."
She stared long and hard into the puddle. Without the access to a good source of light, it was hard for her to make sure... But no, impossible, she had to be seeing things...
"My scythe is smaller! Not only that, but my eyes... My eyes! They're brown, not green! I look like a pup! No wonder no-one is afraid of me!"
"Eevee?"
"Ye-Yeahh? He was still cold.
"How old would you say I am"?
"Hmmm... When I saw you, I figured you would only have a couple of weeks on me... Why?"
"Oh, no reason..." She stretched and laid down over next to Eevee for heat. "G'night Eevee".
"Night".
The Next Morning
The Absol woke up in th early hours of the morning. The sun was barely visible along the horizon, but still had a long way to go until would be high up...
-Yawn- "It's still early... The rain has stopped but outside it is still really wet. Nothing to do but get more sleep". She walked away from the exit of the cave and back to the Eevee. The young fox was mumbiling in his sleep. He had fallen asleep with three legs curled underneath his body, with the fourth (back left leg) strectched out behind him; occasionally twitching. The Barghest had to admit, he did look kinda cute...
Curling up next to him, her face next to his, she stared at his face. "What is this feeling? I've never felt this before... No... It can't be... I've just met him! Anyway, he's just a pu-"
She stood up, accidently knocking Eevee. She heard him mumur "Not now, just give me five more minutes". She ignored this and walked over and looked into the puddle. Like last night, she was staring back at an Absol pup. This time, however, she had the added light of the sun, so she could look for more features.
"Well, my eyes have changed colours... My skin isn't fully white like an adult, but has that pupish grey tinge to it... My scar above my left eyes is gone, and my scythe is much smaller... There's no denying it; i'm a pup again."
She didn't know how to feel; all she had to do before yesterday was wait for the last thing to come, death. Now, she had another whole life ahead of her; she would have to experience the hardships of life all over again... At this thought, she turned to the sleeping Eevee and gave a little smile. "If i can possibly find my true love, maybe this second life will be worth it..."
Finally deciding to get some sleep, she crawled next to Eevee, and using his fluffy, warm tail as a cushion, she closed her eyes to drift of to sleep.
Her final thoughts before she fell asleep: "This time, i'll make the most of life; I promise myself that".
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ok, done a new ending. When i get the chance, i'm going to add an epilogue of her (second) life, leaving many holes that i will fill in by submitting other stories...

To put it simply, i'll give the ending of her life; you already know the start. Then, i'll submit extra stories to fill in those parts when i can.

Well, what do you think? After i do the epilogue, i'm going back to my "The Games" series. I think i've left them in enough suspense...
