Two's Trial

Chapter 2

It was a long, quiet trip to Zaledrik's house. I didn't really want to talk about anything, my own thoughts starting to wear at my view of reality. Sun occasionally asked a question or two, but stayed to herself as well. Usually, I would be pretty pissed at myself for acting this way, but this was different.

These bastards had Ono.

As I finally pulled up to the side street near his house, we saw another car in the distance. I couldn't tell what it was at first, but my eyes calmed at the sight of a bright ass orange and yellow Jeep, that was no doubt my friend Amara.

We travelled about a half mile more before soon slowing to a stop, parking next to the Jeep. Before I even thought about getting out of the car, I looked out my window, hand ready next to a hidden handgun to use just in case. As I looked up and started lowering my window, I soon saw the dark Jeep windows roll down too, letting out a sigh of relief when I saw the purple and red hawk inside. "Amara, am I glad to see-"

"Who the hell is that Art? We thought you were commin'-"

"She's my pet, Amara and could be of use. She can use a sword and she knows the Sanctum like the back of her hand. Now if you please, we need to get moving before Ono gets raped in there!"

I cringed at my own words, knowing full well that I was yelling right beside a victim from that hell hole. I didn't turn to look at her, but somehow I could sense fear and anger coming from Sun where she sat.

"...Fine, but you're taking care of her."

I soon showed a smile, knowing I couldn't linger on Sun's feelings long with the current situation. "That's fine, because she's our ticket to getting in there without any struggle. I am too."

Amara clicked her beak once and looked at me funny, like she always did when she was confused. With a sigh, she then reached her talons forward and grabbed the wheel. "I hope you have a damn good plan, then. If Darkfire gets taken out, you're-"

"We'll get her back. I can't leave her behind." All I did was smile. Who the hell knows what could happen at this place, but a smile shown wide on my face, fully knowing that this was going to happen. If it didn't, we were all dead, and that's just not an option for me.

Cocking her neck a bit, Amara soon ruffled her feathers and changed gears to reverse. "We'll talk at Zale's. He's got a few guys there he wants ya to meet, and no doubt will want to hear this 'plan' of yours."

I only gave her a nod, which she took as an answer and began to turn her Jeep around. I sat parked there still a moment, taking a moment to calm myself.

"...Master-"

"Sun, me and you are going to be going inside with the intention of buying Ono. You are to act like an obedient slave to me while this entire mission is going. If I tell you to do something, don't think twice."

All she did was look at me and nod. I could see it in her lovely eyes that she understood completely. I could see a little fear in her eyes, but there was a shine of confidence and hope there. All my days fighting, I've known several soldiers and men in battle. Any with this look in their eye was deadly.

"Make sure your sword is well hidden. The leather should be able to cover it to line with your Kimono." God I hated talking like this... This wasn't me, I don't bark out orders. I used to do that, but I stopped doing that ages ago.

"Yes Master, I will make sure of that."

"Good. Now some of these guys could be a little... weird. Just stay quiet unless I ask you a question or tell you to do something."

"Yes Master."

I showed her a smile and turned my attention back to the road, driving down it about a half mile more before turning just before a left curve, well hidden in the thick trees of the forest around his property. His driveway alone is about a quarter mile, finally pulling up to his large two story house and parking just beside Amara, who was no doubt already inside.

Leaving all the weapons in the car, Sun and I soon climbed out and shut the doors, me letting out a heavy sigh before leading her to the door. I don't even knock, doing so would get you stabbed here at this house, and walked right down the hall. I knew what room they were at, it was no different than any other mission we had done before.

Sun did very well to keep up with my pace, soon noticing that I was pretty much running through the living room and up the stairway, ignoring the music in the background. After climbing the stairs, I went down another hall and turned to a solid black door, opening it wide and walking inside with Sun close behind.

There stood Amara next to my black and white Husky friend, a couple of different K-9's sitting at a table close to his side.

"Hey! There he is! Took ya long enough!"

I let out a sigh. "We have more important things to worry about. Do you have what I asked for?"

Zale let out a loud laugh. "Always right down to it. This time, I don't blame you, but still, lighten up, man." As he turned around and walked towards the bookcase, I saw him reach out and grab hold of two different books at each end, pulling what seemed to be the entire row of books itself, but I soon showed a smile when I noticed they weren't books at all, but it was a case that was cleverly disguised. "We all know that you want her back, Art. Hell, wouldn't be the same without her."

I walked up next to him, feeling Sun close at my side and hearing the two dogs from the table stand. I had no idea who these Rottweiler and German Sheppard were, but something about them didn't sit well with me.

As I turned to Sun, I soon saw behind her that they were pretty much hovering over the wolf, even staring right at her and ignoring me completely as I let out a small grunt. "If these 'friends' of yours have a problem with my pet, they can butt off."

Zale only let out a chuckle as he began to lift the top of the case. "Oh they have no problems, it looks like they enjoy what they-"

"Then they will know better not to even look at her without asking my permission first." With the snap in my voice, they both finally looked up at me. The German Sheppard backed away, but the Rottweiler did not. "Did I not make myself clear?"

The black and brown mutt just stared at me. "I don't see any collar on her, I just-"

Before he could say another word, I swiftly spun around and slapped the dog hard in his midsection with my tail, knocking him away from us. "Now listen here, pup! You are talking to Artomis Deathbringer, leader of the Crimson Corps. If you mess with me or anyone with me, you're only asking to die."

As he quickly rose back to his feet, I could hear him mumble something about me being an asshole. But he soon nodded and wiped the blood off his lip, sitting back in his seat.

"...Well, you're still quite the social one!" Zale laughed loudly, causing me to turn towards him.

My eyes went wide at the object in his hand, a smile soon spreading on my lips. "How the hell did you get one so fast, Zale?"

He showed a smile himself. "Thanks to the guys you just put in their place, I got this only a half hour before you got here. They said they wanted to help with the mission, and a set of rockets without anyone to man them is useless."

I gave him a confused look. "You and Amara will man them. Sunette and I are the only two going inside."

"You can't be serious!" Zale looked at me in shock, but I held my ground. "That's suicide! You can't-"

Holding up my hand to stop him, I glared at him a bit. "What's suicide is us all trying to make a mad dash inside to save her. I have a better idea."

He crossed his arms and looked at me with a sigh. "Let's here it then, leader. What's the game plan this time?"

I turned for a moment and looked at Sunette, who was looking down at the weapon crate and not saying a word. I knew I never had to worry about her loyalty with me, but I knew that this loyalty could bring us close to death. "...Sun here and I will go inside the Sanctum. Sun here is my slave, as you know... but you don't know that I bought her from the Sanctum."

Amara and Zaledrik looked at me in shock. The Husky was the first to let out a growl. "You BOUGHT her from them?!"

"...Look, it's a long story, and I have my reasons. Not only that, but without her, I go in blind. I only saw the outskirts and the courtyard of the place."

"That's not the point, you helped them, Art!" Zale yelled at me. I knew I had this coming, but at this point, all I could do was take the punishment and try to get them back on track. "Damnit! So what the hell do you propose?! They know who you are!"

I nodded, gripping Sun and pulling her close to me. "Sun and I will go inside and check out the selection of slaves up for sale. Since I am a former customer, they should welcome me back inside. We will find Ono and start placing bids on her, and once we get to a number they seem happy with, I will either pay it off and walk out with any of us unharmed, or snag her up and try to get out of there before they close the gates."

They both stared at me speechless at first, but Zale soon smiled and showed a nod. "Alright, so what are the rockets for then?"

I couldn't help but smile, my mind lingering to the reason. "Once you see Sun and I get out of that hell, if there seems to be anything aggressive behind, you two are going to blow that shit up."
