Chapter 3: Initiation

Author's Note: Third installment in the Fenris' Inferno series. This, like the previous chapter, was written in one writer's crunch session and is just one chunk of the huge block I produced. I will separate and edit chapters as time goes by. Only one or two more chapters remain until the long awaited sexy time; meaning this is more character development.

Legal Notes: Do not steal this story. This and other works by me are mine and mine alone to use unless given permission from me. All characters belong to their respective players. And as always, be on the lookout for my lawyer, the ghost of Johnny Cochran, for he will always be looking for you. >:3

Adrian and Stephen were led to a white van by the mysterious man that showed up in front of their dorm room earlier. Once they reached the van they were cuffed and blindfolded by other shadowy figures. The only things they know of next are sounds and feelings as the van goes on a bumpy path and around many corners. It feels like hours, but after only a few minutes they arrive at their destination. The door opens and hands pull them from the van. The men who bound them lead them into a stone crypt. Adrian feels a sense of dread and foreboding wash over him; while Stephen feels a rush of excitement. Once in the upper level of the crypt the two were released from their cuffs and blindfolds. The first thing Adrian noticed was the dank room and the stale, musky air that made him cough.

"Put these on." Adrian looks behind to the tall guy who came to their room and looked at the two packs of robes he had. Adrian took one and looked around.

"There's nowhere to change." The guys just stared at him. "You mean we have to strip here?" They continue to stare and Stephen comes up to him.

"Aww don't be a big baby. We're all going to be naked when we get down there, plus you're so dark that you'll just blend in. Haha."

Adrian just pushed him off with a grumble and walked to a corner with his back turned. He removed his shirt and pants with ease, but it took some mental preparation to remove his underwear. Slowly, the shy boy hooked his underwear with his thumbs and pulled them down, unaware of the fascinated, and naked but robed, Stephen staring at him from behind. Before he removed the garments completely he "Ah ha-ed" and pulled on his robe much to the disappointment of Stephen. With a sigh of relief at his ingenious decision, Adrian pulled off the underwear and dropped them on his clothes.

"Your clothes will remain here with us until after the ritual," said a monotone voice from behind him. "Now turn and proceed down with your fellow pledges."

Adrian turned and walked to the sets of spiral stone stairs, Stephen still behind him, and took a deep breath as he looked down into the deep, candle lit cavern. "No turning back now." Slowly he plodded down the stairs and into the den of light. As he drew closer he could hear voices of fellow pledges. As he rounded the corner of the stairs he saw about 20 other maroon robed pledges, even a few he recognized; his heart soared. With friends, he knew he could make it through this.

Quickly he and Stephen made their way over to two other friends that were pledging. They only had time to greet one another, though, before the president of the club descended the stairs and stood upon an altar next to the stone casket of the fraternity and university founder, Jessy Mercer. He was clad in maroon robes also, but his was covered in ornate, gold stitching and had a large hood attached to it. With flourish the leader of the group threw back his hood and smiled down at the pledges.

"My friends! My future brothers! We are here tonight to initiate you into our family; a family of honor, tradition, and success. We have watched you intently over the past months and came to a consensus that you shall make up the next generation of Kappa Sigmas. You, shall be the next leaders of America. You, will be agents that will change the world! You, will be Kappa Sigs!!!!!" A loud and raucous cheer erupted inside of the underground grave, one loud enough to dislodge a few loose stones in the ceiling. When met with a rain of dust and rocks the joy in the room calmed down a little.

Adrian joined in the jovial celebration, but lost track of the leader's continuing message; only catching bits and pieces as he senses something in the room. He cannot tell what it was or where it is coming from, but he knows that it isn't anything good. He shakes his head and puts his silly fears to the side; instead, deciding to take note of the room they were in wile the leader rattled off some profound secret order crap speech at the altar. "...Feared...," Adrian heard the leader say through is pensive state. The crypt they were in was not as small as Adrian thought it was, it was actually a nice sized room that allowed for enough space to laze around, sneak off, and even separate into different cliques of friends. "...Special..." Vines had grown through the ancient rock and now hang from the ceilings and splinter out over the walls. "...Powerful..." The walls were lined with detailed depictions of heads of what one would assume are the relatives of Jessy Mercer; and upon further inspection you can see indentations in the walls where the depictions are, leading you to believe that there are coffins housed behind those stone squares. "...300 years..." In each of the four corners there were stone coffins like Jessy Mercer's in the center, but not as grand as his. "...Anniversary..." Whereas Jessy's coffin had a large gem in his family crest and a short biography on it, the others just had the family crest and a name. "...Dark Arts..." The last words he heard turned Adrian's attention back to the leader with the rest of the crowd, but his speech was over and another round of joyous applause filled the room. Adrian looked over at Stephen, who was the embodiment of hope and inspiration as he clapped for the man that stood above them.

"Hey, man. What did I miss? Did he say anything important?"

"What?" Stephen sighs. "You were standing right here, how could you not hear what he was saying," he asks with an exacerbated look on his face.

"I was...preoccupied. Now what did he say?"

Stephen just smiles and shakes his head. "No, nothing important, just the history of the fraternity, how it was founded along with the college, how the college was originally a non-religious school, oh, and Jessy Mercer being a big practitioner of demonology."

"Mmhmm...and did he give you a crash course in sarcasm too," was Adrian's sarcastically rhetorical reply. To which the Brit replies by bonking him on the head.

"Ow!"

"Now shut up and pay attention, he's speaking again."

The robed figure spreads his arms wide and smiles down at the lesser members. "Now, future brothers, remove your cloaks and embrace your fellow man!"

All of the pledges looked at each other for a minute, hesitating in revealing themselves in front of another male, let alone hugging them. It wasn't until a basketball player and a few of his fellow teammates dropped their robes and pulled each other into a man hug.

"See that? That is what you're going to be in for everyday if you join the new football team in a few years, except for your men will be bigger and harrier." Stephen laughs as he plants suggestive thoughts into his roomies head.

"Ugh, don't even joke around about that. They're only doing that because they have to shower together; and I'm only going to do this because I have to." Adrian shakes his head, clearing out bad images.

By now the majority of the room had stripped and hugged at least one other guy, so it was about time for Adrian and Stephen to join them. Stephen shed his cloak with no problem while Adrian was a little more nervous. He had to look and check for something first, an irrational sense of modesty in a room of naked men, before he could actually pull it off; but once he was comfortable he slowly opened the cloak and let it drop to the ground with a deep sigh. Before the cloak could hit the ground, though, he was embraced by his roommate, and before he could protest, three or four of his friends had also pinned him in a group hug. His arms were pinned to his side so he feels some things that he shouldn't. After a minute of hugging the group dispersed, leaving Adrian with a look of 'Death to you all!" on his face. Before he could deliver a series of complaints and insults to the perpetrators of the crime the robed leader ascended the altar once again.

"Now that you have embraced your fellow Kappa you have but one final test to pass. You must append the night in here with the corpse of our illustrious founder. Anyone who can't take it is allowed to leave at anytime. The doors are open and there will be brothers stationed to keep an eye on you. I must depart now, but before I do we must recite the chant of initiation that you were required to learn. Let's begin ..."

The crowd stirred as everyone faced the brother and dug into their memories to recollect the pledge. Some sly people wrote the pledge on the inside of their hands or even on the back of fellow pledges. Adrian and Stephen preferred to go the old fashion way and memorize it. The sound level of the crypt rose once more each voice recited the pledge in unison, led by the president.

"Oh powerful forces beyond my comprehend, I open my heart to let you in. I ask for your endless power to harden me from a delicate flower. To you I will sacrifice my only friend and serve you forever with no end. I will change the world in your image and establish a powerful lineage. Take me and mold me into a body of success, use me and change me for the best. Your design is also mine; I hold close in heart, body, and mind. I now plan to improve who I am. This I solemnly swear, ___ (your name here) ___"

"Stephen Baker." His face curls in displeasure at the non-rhyme line.

"Adrian Graham." A dark shiver runs down Adrian's back.

"Well done my future brothers. You have completed the next to last step into joining the rich life of Kappa Sig. I wish you luck tonight and hope to watch you emerge tomorrow as a fellow brother." With a smile the ornately robed brother stepped down from the altar, allowing a beam of moonlight to land on the coffin of Jessy Mercer. He and his maroon robed envoy made their way up the stairs and out of the crypt, leaving the men alone and naked down below.
