#3 of After the war

Hey everyone

*Ok, let me start by saying this chapter is lazy. I am current working my ass off for so many other things right now it is difficult to write anything decent. *

But this one leads to the next chapter, and i promise that the next chapter will be more exciting.

But i think there are one or two decent parts in this so, enjoy

The couple had fallen asleep holding each other, clinging on, never wanting to release the other. But eventually the night rolled on and the sun began to peak over the distant horizon, casting a strong beam of light over the two.

There was a loud groan from Spyro as the light woke the dragon from his blissful sleep. His eyes flickered open as, slowly, more and more light spilled down on him. Slowly but surely he felt his wits return to him as the sleep wore off him.

He felt a slight tug from his tail, he looked down and seemed a little surprised to see a black tail gently curled around it. But the his features soften and he let out a small chuckle, he looked up to see the sleeping head of his loved gently resting against his chest.

There was a small groan and another squeeze from her tail. Spyro just kept beaming as he stared at her head and face. No matter how many times he looked at it, he was always surprised by the sheer wealthy of beauty coming from her. He let a small dazed grin grow on his face as thought to himself.

"I'm one lucky dragon, I guess saving the world does have its perks"

He mentally slapped himself at the vain thought but he still felt proud of what he and Cynder had done.

He looked at Cynder, feeling a surge of passion come over him. But again, he calmed himself down. He looked and Cynders sleek and curvy form and just felt so happy. He had the dragoness of his dreams.

Suddenly, Cynder shifted and Spyro heard a loud yawn. The tail around Spyros slackened and Spyro looked back to Cynder's face to see a pair of barely open emerald eyes looking at him.

"Morning my love"

Spyro said, Cynder shut her eyes again and said wearily.

"Good morning Spyro"

Her eyes peeped open again and she leaned towards Spyro, softly licking him on the cheek. As soon as she had, her face began to turn red and she gave a squeak of happiness.

"I love being able to do that"

Cynder's face had gone bright red and she stared adoringly at Spyro. Cynder's voice however became even quieter and she asked.

"Can I have one back?"

She begged with her eyes and Spyro was only too happy to oblige. He craned his head and his lips touched Cynder's gently. There was another squeak from Cynder and her tail squeezed Spyro's even tighter.

Spyro began to pull away but only to find Cynder pushing her head forward, desperate to keep the contact. But eventually her neck couldn't stretch far enough and they broke apart.

"You really like kissing don't you?"

Spyro chuckled, coaxing a small nervous grin out of Cynder.

"Only with you"

She replied quietly. Slowly both dragons got to their feet and looked at the expanse of land behind them, the ground seemed to go on and on apart from a few distant hills.

"So you want to get going? We need to get back to Warfang"

Spyro asked, There was a small sigh from Cynder and she replied in a sad tone

"Spyro... I'm scared, they hate me... what if they attack me?"

Spyro took a step towards her and rubbed his head along hers, she shut her eyes and gave a small cat-like purr as he did. Spyro whispered into her ear.

"I'll be with you, you know that I would always protect you and I wouldn't let anyone try to hurt you. You'll be ok, I'll make sure of it"

"Thank you Spyro"

She whispered back and Spyro drew his head away, Cynder gave him a small smile and he felt a small burn in his chest.

"Your beautiful when you smile, I'm really am the luckiest dragon in the world"

Spyro said softly and Cynder let out a tiny giggle. Cynder's smile grew and Spyro chuckled softly.

"You are so beautiful. Come on, let's get going"

**************

The couple travelled for hours, riding on air currents and just enjoying the others company. The world below slowly drifted by as they soared through the open sky. For the first time in years, Cynder felt totally care free. She had the one she loved and no-one was going to take that away, she felt truly happy and nothing in the world take that away.

The day went lazy on, the sun gradually reaching its peak then slowly beginning to sink. The distant coast was far behind them now and the landscape below was becoming more and more mountainous.

As the day went by, the just talked and played happily. The events of last night were completely forgotten and a happy state washed other them. Filling them both with joy and love.

But eventually, as the crimson glow of the sunset happiness and joy couldn't keep the pair going any longer.

"Spyro, I'm getting tired. Can't we find a place to stay?"

Cynder asked bleakly as her energy left her. Spyro glided next to her and said.

"Come on Cyn. It can't be that long to Warfang"

Cynder groaned slightly and said.

"Spyro, we've been flying for hours and I just want to sleep. Please just find a village or something, I'm sure they won't know us we're miles away from anywhere big or important."

Spyro's head dropped a bit, but Cynder said.

"It's only an extra day. Besides, Sparx is probably loving all this time without me."

Spyro laughed a little as he thought of his half-brother.

"I guess I could go another day without being called over-weight"

Cynder smiled and said cheerfully.

"Thank you Spyro"

She scanned the earth below, looking for any sign of life. Eventually she spotted a small village in the distance.

"I think I can see a settlement, come on! My wings feel like they could fail at any minute"

****************

The place they landed in was larger than expected, while it was still tiny in comparison to Warfang, it was more than a small village. Yet despite it's surprising size, the place seemed almost deserted. Only a few people were walking around and even then they seemed to melt away into the darkness whenever Spyro or Cynder even began to walk in their direction.

But the two were too exhausted to notice the strange actions of the locals. They just wanted a place to sleep. They began to explore the town, it was getting dark and long shadows were cast over the streets, the whole place felt like it had something to hide and Spyro didn't trust it one bit. They walked past an alleyway when they heard a female voice call out.

"You two! The purple and black dragons!"

They looked around to see an green dragoness stepping out of the shadows, she had a look of concern on her old face. Spyro could feel the set of bright blue eyes, boring into him. He shifted uncomfortably and said back.

"Who are you? What do you want with us?"

The green dragon ignored his questions, instead she just spoke in a hushed yet urgent voice.

"You two have to go! You have to get out of this place! You are in grave danger"

Spyro was taken completely by surprise. The dragoness glanced around the street and then turned back to them.

"Don't trust anyone! This place is evil!"

Spyro didn't know what to say, he just stared blankly at her. But suddenly there was a yell and they all looked down the street.

A large red dragon was stomring up to them and Spyro instantly went on guard. But the red dragon was looking at him, he was looking at the green dragoness.

"Clear off Terra! Go! Shoo!"

The green dragoness whimpered a little and scurried off into the alleyway again, Spyro watched her go in fasination but then the red dragon spoke again making Spyro look over to him.

"I'm sorry so you two had see that."

Cynder said quite bemused.

"Who was that?"

The red dragon gave a small sigh and said.

"That was Terra. She's a bit... delicate in the head, to put it as so. But anyway, I trust she didn't harm you?"

Spyro shook his head and said.

"No, we're fine thank you"

The red dragon let a broad grin spread across his face.

"That's wonderful to hear. Oh! Silly me, i forgot to introduce myself, Torch is my name"

He did a girly giggle and Spyro thought instantly.

"gay..."

Cynder however smiled back and said.

"It's nice to meet you Torch! I'm Cynder and this is Spyro"

There was a small moment when the red dragons eye's seemed to darken, it was just for a millisecond but Spyro still noticed something. But then Torch grinned and said in a rather over dramatised way.

"Oh you two are just adorable as a couple! I assume you're looking for a place to stay?"

Spyro nodded and said rather bluntly.

"Yeah. We've been flying all day, do you know a place where we could stay"

Spyro's tone made Cynder shoot him a look but Torch just chirped.

"I own a place! It has the best food in town, I assure you."

Spyro smiled a little and Cynder said.

"Could we stay for the night?"

Torch just gave another small giggle.

"Of course you can! We don't get many vistors, so don't worry about waking anyone up!"

He tittered again and Cynder flushed a little. Torch turned around quickly and beckoned with his tail.

"Come on then! I'll bet Armand has cooked something delicious!"

The red dragon began to strutt down the street, closely followed by Spyro and Cynder. Meanwhile in the alley, a set of bright blue eyes followed there every move. The dragoness quietly whispered.

"I've got to help them"

**********

The red dragon lead them down to small building, a low murmur of chatter coming from inside. Torch gave a happy sigh and said.

"Well, here it is, My own little palace. It's not much but there's rooms and hot food"

He opened the front door and ushered them in. As soon as he entered, Spyro could smell meat being cooked and a mix of other enticing things. He relaxed and all but forgot about the green dragoness's warnings. The smell made his stomach rumble and Cynder said smugly.

"I told you this was a good idea!"

Spyro gave a grin of defeat as he felt his stomach rumble again. Torch strutted of towards the kitchen door and called out.

"Armand! We have guests!"

Spyro watched as the large blue dragon stumbled out of the kitchen doorway. He bowed his head slightly and said.

"Ahh, monsieur et madame! eh.. welcome to moi et monsieur Torch's eh... inn"

The blue dragon spoke in a weird accent and occasionally had to pause and think of his next word. But he kept smiling and Torch beamed at the two.

"Now you two, your room is on the first floor, third on the left. I couldn't possible charge you right now, the meal will be up shortly, so don't do anything to crazy!"

Cynder flushed even brighter red and Torch scolded himself.

"Naughty Torch! Oh i'm sorry dear! I didn't mean to embarress you! You can have the meal for free, goodness I feel so guilty"

He hid his face and Spyro and Cynder thanked him, making his way up to there room. It was small but it had a large bed and Spyro spent no time in hurling himself on it. Cynder slowly climbed on it and snuggled up to Spyro.

"He was really gay, wasn't he?"

Spyro joked, but Cynder snaped a little at him.

"There was nothing wrong with him! He was friendly and kind, it doesn't matter what sort of people he finds attractive!"

Spyro was a little taken aback by this and he quickly said.

"I never meant that it was a bad thing!"

Cynder was still in a huff, Spyro slowly stretched out a wing and wrapped it around her. She shuffled a bit closer and let Spyro hug her.

"I'm sorry Cyn... look, you just get some rest and i'll wait for the food."

He softly kissed her forehead and she said quietly.

"Thank you Spyro"

Spyro just shused her gently and soon enough her breathing became deeper and slower as she fell asleep.

It was a long time before the meal arrived, Spyro brought it in with after a long aplogy from Torch.

He placed it on the side and gently nudged Cynder.

"Wake up... the food's here"

There was only a muffled groan in response. Spyro grabbed the massive chunk of meat they had been given, the smell was good enough to wake the sleepy dragoness.

"Come on, you can have the first bit"

Spyro said offering her the delicious looking meat despite his own hunger. Cynder rose slowly and took the food from Spyro.

"Thank you... you can have some too"

Spyro just shook his head however.

"No, I'll eat after your have. I'd hate to see you go hungry."

Cynder nodded slightly and dived in, ripping a huge chunk out of the steak. After she had her fill, Spyro finished the rest off. As soon as they had scoffed the food down, they relaxed on the bed.

"That was delicious... I wish i'd paid Torch now"

Cynder said quietly but Spyro wasn't paying much attention. His arms were so tired he could barely move them. He tired moving to embrace Cynder again but his arms just wouldn't respond.

"Cynder... can you move your arms? I'm to tired to move mine"

Spyro joked, Cynder tried to move but even she found difficulty in it. She said in a slightly panicked voice.

"Spyro! I can't move! I can't move anything!"

Spyro was slowly growing more concerned now, his entire body seemed to stop responding. His tail just lay limply beside him and when he tried to speak he could only speak in a slurred voice.

"I c.... can't mov...move"

Came his sloopy reply, suddenly he remembered the crazy dragon. She was right, something was terribly wrong and he and Cynder were no helpless. The paralyzing poison spreading through their body.

There was a click at the door, and a gruff voice called out.

"It's about fucking time that stuff worked. I was getting bored"

Horrah, a crappy and predicatebly plot twist.

Anyway i hope you found bits of this good. Next chapter WILL be better, i promise
