#1 of After the war

Hey there, Draco978 here

This is a complete random story i thought of just so i can get back into thinking of stories, i do not expect this to get many views or good reviews. So if you deciede to be picky and point out the multiple mistakes i probably made then you can do that, but i'm not changing this. This is a raw idea which came from my head, and i honestly do not care about precise reveiws.

*I'm not saying don't vote or leave a comment, I'm saying don't write extensive in depth studies of this. I like people commenting and good votes make me feel good about myself, just don't go over the top. *

**EDIT, AND A IMPORTANT ONE AT THAT!!!!* This is now part of my new series i'm experimenting with, "After the war". READ IT!!! *

*EDIT 2* I decieded to put this in a group, (spyro and cynder to be precise) I thought it was appropriate, but if it causes confusion, i'll take off the group.

All i ask is that you enjoy reading this, because that's the only reason why i'm here. Enough from me, have fun!

******************

The salty sea are was gently blowing over the ridge, only the sound of the slowly crashing waves on the rocks below filled the air. The slowly setting sun cast a warm red glow over the scene and the sea sparkled in a crimson light.

Two lone figures stood next to each other, there draconian features apparent from far away. They stood next to a small little slab, crudely crafted from rock. The inscription read:

R.I.P Ignitus,

May your passion forever burn in our hearts

May we never forget your sacrifice for us all

The dragons stood vigilant, watching over this solemn scene. Eventually, the black scaled dragon turned to the purple one and whispered.

"Come on Spyro.... Lets go"

The purple one didn't move, his head just dropped and he said in a voice full of hurt.

"I... I can't believe he's gone"

The black dragoness rubbed her head along his in a way to comfort him. She whispered gently.

"We can't stay Spyro... it's getting dark and we have been here for hours now. You've made the tombstone in the most beautiful place we could find. You've done more than enough to honour him"

"But... he did so much for me, he sacrificed himself so we could live"

Spyro a solitary tear fell from him, it hit the ground with a silent thud.

"He was like a father to me"

Cynder slowly wrapped a wing around him. They held each other tightly and Cynder felt a surge of emotion. She said through a shaky voice.

"I feel the same way. But we have to go, or we'll never be able to leave"

"I know..."

The weary reply came from Spyro.

"Come on..." Cynder said tenderly and guided Spyro away from the grave, they gently released each other and took off into the the slowly darkening sky.

*********

The two dragons rested in a small cave, the stars shone brightly and Cynder was star gazing, wrapped in her own thoughts. Spyro lay on the ground, he shivered as he thought about the day passed.

The night was pleasant but inside Spyro felt so cold, he had never felt so alone. Only dragon he cared about apart from Cynder was gone forever. Spyro looked up at the dragoness near him, she was his only friend. It had been a mere few days since the defeat of the dark one, but the feelings Spyro had for her had been cooking up for years.

The moonlight reflected gently off her scales, she looked like a goddess. Spyro reached out with his tail and tapped her softly. She looked back at him, her delicate face shone in the pale light and she looked so beautiful.

"What is it?"

She asked softly, her voice was sweet and smooth. Her emerald green eyes were enchanting as she stared. Spyro stared into her eyes and he felt a surge of passion for her.

"Thank you... for being here with me. Thank you for just staying with me through everything"

Cynder smiled gently down at him. She giggled a bit and said jokily back.

"Well I didn't have a choice for most of it, I was chained to you until a few day ago. But your welcome"

Spyro smiled softly back and Cynder laid backwards her eyes fluttering slightly. Spyro admired her thin and curvy form, she was perfect. Anyone who saw her now could never guess about her past, about the torture she went through.

She shivered a little and Spyro instinctively stretched a wing out, wrapping her in a soft embrace. Cynder snuggled up to Spyro a bit, Spyro asked softly.

"Are you still cold?"

She shook her head and said back.

"Not any more... thank you"

Spyro relished every moment they spent next each other, her soft scent was so pleasing and her scales were soft to touch. He felt a spark in his heart and he thought.

"I love you Cynder... I wish I could tell you"

But out loud Spyro simply said.

"Goodnight Cynder"

Cynder shuffled slightly and said back.

"Goodnight Spyro, you've got to get back to Warfang"

Spyro noted the you and not we, but he didn't think to long about it, it was probably just a slip of the tongue. He was too tired to care anyway, he quietly slipped of into a sleep, filled with dreams of the dragoness lying next to him.

*****

Cynder waited a while until she was sure Spyro was asleep, slowly she detached herself from his embrace and got up. She looked down at the dragon on the ground and she welled up inside. She cared about him, she loved him so much. That day when they had defeated Malefor, she had tried to tell him but he hadn't even heard, If they had died he wouldn't have known. Now it was too late for her.

Cynder bent down and rested her head on Spyro's chest. His heart beat strongly and she whimpered slightly. She stayed there for a minute as she came to terms with what she was going to do. She whispered gently.

"I love you Spyro... I have ever since you saved me. I don't deserve your friendship, I... I don't deserve this life. Everyone hates me... everyone wants me to die. The cheetahs, the moles the other dragons... No-one cares about me. I have hurt too many people, I've destroyed so much, I don't deserve to ever be with you"

A tear seeped onto his chest and she continued to speak, her voice trembled as she cried as she spoke.

"I so long to be your mate, to grow old with you... but that's not my fate, it never was. I'm going to return to were I belong, my body will help nurture this world for you. By the time you wake I will no longer be in this realm, please find love and live a good life"

She slowly lifted her head and kissed him, she felt another surge of tears come over her and she pulled her head away. All her built up emotions flooded out of her and she could no longer control the tears. All her passion and love poured out of her through the tears.

She began to walk the edge of the cave, her sobs echoed through the still night air. She took off into the black sky, slowly disappearing into the distance.

********

Spyro woke to the sound of distant sobs, he groped around with his wing but all he felt was cold dirt. Spyro's eyes shot open and he jumped to his feet.

"Cynder!?"

He called out, gripped with fear, he dashed out the cave and looked around madly.

"No! CYNDER!!!"

He yelled but no reply came. His heart screamed in fear and he felt a a numbing sensation wash over him.

Spyro leapt into the air and scanned the skies. He was so wrought with worry he felt like his wings might fail. But something caught his eyes, he noticed a small and distant shape, only visible by the faintest reflection of the moonlight.

"Oh ancestors.... CYNDER!!!"

He yelled once more as he sped after the shape, he wasn't going to let her go, he cared about her too much to let her slip away like this.

"I'm not letting you go! I'm not letting you get away! Not this time!"

He said though gritted teeth as he flew as fast as he could, franticly chasing after the small figure in the distance.

******

Cynder landed by a steep cliff edge, it was so reminiscent of the place where she and Spyro had made Ignitus's grave.

She queitly sat down and stared over the edge, the water was sparkling gently.

"Like his eyes..."

Cynder muttered, she began to curl up into a ball. All her fears and pains filled her up until she simply couldn't take any more. She looked towards the edge yet again, the fall was big enough to kill any creature, let alone a small dragoness.

She gulped slightly and rested her head back down on the ground. She could see all the faces of the families she destroyed, the dragons she killed. The guilt seared her heart until she cried out in pain.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!"

She begged as the faces as they stared accusingly at her. But her mind wouldn't let go of the images, the dead eyes bored into her until she trembled and wept with fear.

Her darkest thoughts spoke to her, they whispered to her.

"Do it... finish yourself"

She shook her head violently as she felt the voices grow louder and louder. The chorus of commanding her to commit the act.

She slowly got to her feet and took a step towards the edge, the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks below was brutal.

"A fitting tomb for the black serpent"

Cynder thought, she let her head drop once more and whispered.

"I love you Spyro... please forgive me"

"Don't Cynder..."

A faint voice called out, Cynder ignored it, it was just her mind playing tricks on her again. The one persistent part which still tried to cling to life.

"Cynder!!"

The voice was louder now, it wasn't coming from her head. She looked around as slowly the sound of flapping wings filled the air.

Cynder looked around as the flapping grew louder and louder. She looked up and saw Spyro diving towards her. She had no time to react before to strong arms grabbed her and took her away from the edge. They tumbled over each other but Spyro was in control.

She didn't put up a fight as Spyro pinned her to the ground. He stood above her panting heavily, his teeth bared.

"What the hell do you think you are doing?!!!"

Spyro yelled, his voice was full of anger and hurt. Cynder whimpered in fear as Spyro bared down on her.

"I... I just wanted to die..."

She said quietly, Spyro replied in a cutting tone.

"Why would you want that?! Why would you be stupid enough to do that?!!"

Spyro's angry tone just pushed Cynder to tears again, her voice was bitter as she spat out her words.

"No-one cares about me! Everyone in Warfang hates me and even the guardians were glad when I ran away!"

Spyro just watched her cry, his vice like grip slackened a bit but he still held strong. Cynder spoke up again but this time her voice was full of emotion.

"You don't care... you are just like the rest of them. You stop me from doing the things which will make the world better for everyone, just let me die... Without you I'm less than nothing..."

She trailed off and Spyro stared blankly at her until he quietly said.

"That's it? You wanted to kill yourself over the opinions of a few stupid moles and cheetahs? You wanted to end it all because you thought I didn't care for you!!?"

His voice built up and until the mix of compassion, fear and anger overwhelmed him.

"WELL I DO CARE!! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH IT HURT'S ME!! I can't live without you! When you ran away I was so scared! I CROSSED MY OWN BROTHER TO LOOK FOR YOU!! I didn't know what it was then but now I do!! I'VE ALREADY LOST IGNITUS, IF I LOST YOU TOO I-I-I-I...."

Spyro voice slowly began to crack and he grip slackened even more, he gently pulled her into a tight embrace. Hot tears trickled down Cynders back as Spyro wept. His voice was hoarse and he could barely speak.

"If I lost you... I'd kill myself... I'd follow you into the abyss, you mean so much to me"

Spyro stopped speaking and held the hug. Cynder clutched Spyro close to her and for what seemed like an age they just held each other, comforting the other with their contact. Cynder shuddered slightly and whispered.

"Spyro... i'm so sorry... how could you love me now after what I've done?"

Spyro pulled his head away slowly and said in a tender tone.

"Like this"

He leant in, there maws connected slowly and with such love that Cynder forgot everything else. She just felt a paw gently slide to her head and it stroked her gently. Cynder melted into the kiss and her heart swelled. There tongues slowly worked there ways into each others mouth, before slowly finding each other, they slowly wrapped around each other before settling.

Spyro pulled her in, making the kiss deeper as his tail wrapped around hers. They rested like that for an age, the emotion they both felt for each other flowing freely. Neither of them wanted the kiss to end.

Eventually Spyro pulled his head away and gently nuzzled her, he whispered to her with such passion.

"I love you Cynder... promise me you will never think like this again, promise you'll always be beside me."

Cynder said back, her voice equally full of love.

"I promise... I love you Spyro. I want to grow old with you and stay by you, forever"

Spyro smiled softly and licked Cynder cheek, she giggled a bit and she rubbed her head along Spyro's.

"Thank you for saving me... my purple hero"
