#1 of The Marked Ones

_ Hey There!_

If you're reading this, welcome to my first story!

Credit and thanks to Ausfur for the title

This story MIGHT have a gay relationship in later chapters but I'm still thinking about the details of each chapter, so they might come out slow.

There will definitely be death and violence (as in combat and fight scenes) later on too.

I think that's all I need to cover for now.

_Enjoy the start of "The Marked Ones"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------_

It was hot. Really, really hot, but it was the middle of July. I felt like shit and just didn't even try to get out of bed until about 3 PM. When I did, I just lazily walked over to the window, opened it, and welcomed the brief rush of air. "Ngh.... God it's hot today." I groaned. I decided to eat first before anything else.

As I started making lunch, I heard the most hated noise in my life. My home phone's lengthy and loud "BRRRRIIIINNNNGGGG!". I despised it so much. "Damn phone!" I growled before I rushed over to answer it. I realized too late I forgot to look at the caller ID. "Hello?" I asked the caller.

"Hey Kantano..." I knew that voice anywhere, but the attitude didn't match the voice. "Hey Tai. Is something wrong?" I responded to Taisuke's voice, genuinely concerned. It took him a while to respond, like if he was deciding to trust me or not. When he finally responded he just said "I found something weird. Can you meet me at Enigma Lake to see it?"

He sounded so different, so serious. That was so unlike Tai. "Alright." I answered, deciding to be serious as well. "I can go now, if you want. I don't really like the idea of my fur catching fire in my apartment." I joked as I tried to lighten the mood. It seemed to work since he chuckled slightly. "Alright, I need to find it though so I might be a bit late" Tai replied.

The walk was about 5 minutes from my apartment and it was on a beautiful trail. I always took a walk to Enigma Lake everyday in the spring and summer since thats when the trail is truly beautiful. The calm falling leaves, with the wind gently blowing them away just leaves you awestruck. Even in the winter, the snowfall is beautiful. I can't remember how many things happened on this trail since I was a pup. I met so many friends and enemies. I've been betrayed and I've forgiven so many. I came to a lot of resolutions as well. Who knows what else will happen.

I reached Enigma Lake later than the expected time since I wanted to enjoy the walk a little longer today. I looked around but didn't see Tai anywhere. I went to the tree to see if he was up there waiting to scare the living hell out of me. I looked up, but only saw the leaves. It was safe to sit and wait for him. "He'll probably be here in less than an hour " I said to myself. I was really wrong.

It seemed like 3 hours passed when it was just 30 minutes. They say when resting in a tranquil place, you become tired no matter the time or your condition. I soon found that true when I wanted to surrender to the awaiting slumber. I could only mutter out one thing before I closed my eyes. "Sorry Tai. I'm just so... tired"

Sorry if it seems short, but like I said I'm still thinking about the details of the chapters
