The Keeper and the Key
The Keeper...........that was the name the Ancestors called the being that took care of the dead. The story goes that no matter what you did in life he would give you eternal darkness ,whether you were a good person or a bad person, you were sent to the Void. They say that the dead had begged the Keeper to give them a more restful afterlife, he refused them, others asked that the souls of the wicked be damned, he refused them still, the had begged and asked for more than neverending darkness and he refused them all. Having tired of the Keeper ignoring their requests the dead began to call out to the living asking them to find away to bring them peace yet even the living refused them.........untill they too died. Now seeing the horror of the Void they began to call out to the living once again this time calling out to the night mother herself, the very sister of the Keeper, Nyx........She listened. Nyx was the goddess of night, change, life, and love, and so she could not help the dead dirrectly and so with Nyx on their side the living began to search for ways of helping the dead. After years of searching they found it........deep in a cave lies a giant crystal with the help of Nyx they found he could be bound for all time. And so they began to formulate a plan to find a way of luring the Keeper out of his Void.
The Keeper soon found a army of both soldiers and peasents gathering at a single spot. Curious as to what these amusing mortals were doing the Keeper moved closer to the land of the living. It came as a bit of a shock when his sister began to taunt him daring him to take the souls of all of the mortals in the army. Not used to being thought of as weak he tore open the gateway between worlds and quickly began to slaughter the mortals there his avatar being incredibly powerful against their weapons. Thats when Nyx revealed her own weapon, A golden dagger that was embedded with the very same crystal as the one they had found in the cave not too far away. While the Keeper was distracted with the bloodshed of those that called him weak Nyx quickly turned him around and buried the blade into his chest stunning him long enough for Nyx to bind him to the giant gem. Needless to say the Keeper was shocked as he found himself entombed in the crystal for all time. And so he waited for a chance to break free he waited for the Key, the one with the soul pure and a heart kind and strong, to release him.
