"Alex! Open up!" As if the pounding on her door wasn't enough to identify him, Samuel had to shout at the top of his lungs as well.

Alex groaned and opened her sleep heavy eyes "WHAT?"

"I have something important to tell you. Really, really important!"

Alex sighed and pulled herself up. She looked around her dark bed room...gah! What time was it? She twisted around, and planted her feet on the cold stone floor. Suppressing a shiver, she hauled herself to her feet, stumbled over to the window and wrenched the shutters open. The lights in the town were darkened, the stars were still up in the sky, and only the faintest blushes of dawn lined the horizon. Alex gritted her teeth, and looked down at the young man banging on her door "What could be so important that you had to wake me up at this ungodly hour?"

Samuel jumped at her voice, and craned his neck up to see her "Oy! Good morning lass!" Alex stared down at the man below her with such intensity that he would be a a smoking crated if she wasn't so tired. The smile quickly faded from his face "I...umm...it's about the traveling mage...you know the one-"

Alex cut him off with a harsh "Shush", her fair skin turning a deep red. She held a finger to her lips and glared at her friend. "I'll be down in one second." she whispered, before glancing around and closing the shutters. Gah, he could be so stupid at times! she silently fumed, as she hurried down the stairs from her bedroom to the storefront, grabbing a robe along the way. She muttered a few words as she entered the front room, and the enspelled candles flickered to life. She took a second to check herself in the mirror. Her long, red tresses were in a terrible state of disarray, but there was nothing she could do about that. Her azure eyes were almost purple with lack of sleep, and her pale skin was flushed. Frankly, she looked horrible. Normally, she was rather attractive by human standards...tall, but not too tall, slim, but not sickly, well proportioned so that she could turn heads, though not to the point where men would drool over her. But now...now she would be lucky to woo an orc! Indeed, it would be-

"Alex! You there?"

Alex groaned...she just wanted to go back to sleep...but that mage...aargh! There was something so...so elusive about him. He moved with the grace of the fey, he had the face of a god, and the body of a hero...he was the ideal man! So then why hadn't she been able to work up the courage to talk to him! He had tried to talk to her twice, her being Hinton's resident wizard and all, but both times she had become so...so filibustered that she had to send him off to see Samuel, the town's priest, for his supplies. She sighed...relying on Samuel for romantic advancement...what next? Relying on a dwarf for arcane advice?

Alex walked over the door, nearly tripping on the sack of scroll parchment that she had left right next to it "Dammit!"

"What?"

Alex jerked the door open, and glowered at the young priest "Was this necessary?" She hissed, scanning the street for anyone who may be listening.

Samuel grinned and nodded nervously "Oh, absolutely. Definitely! Affirmative! Maybe...quite possibly...I don't know..." he finally admitted and sighed "But I think you needed to know that-"

Alex glared at the priest, grabbed his shoulder and pulled him inside. With one last glance around the the quite side street, she closed the door.

Samuel looked around nervously, before settling down in one of several dilapidated chairs "What was that all about?"

Alex scowled at the priest "What do you think!"

The priest shifted uncomfortably in his seat"This isn't about what happened four years ago, is it?"

Alex's scowl deepened "Of course it is. It was hard enough to get the town to accept a girl as their new mage, let alone a twenty year old girl! And lo, the moment she starts swooning over a guy, all hell breaks loose...I've built a reputation here, and I'm not about to destroy it again by falling in with some unguilded mage!"

"Erm...that's part of the problem. Irin...the mage...he's leaving. Today. He was called away-"

"WHAT?" Alex's voice cracked in surprise

"Hey...I didn't have anything to do with this!" Samuel backed up in his chair, moving away from the irritable mage

Alex paced back and forth across the floor for a few moments before turning to face Samuel"When did you find out?"

"And you came right here?"

"Ye-yes....I know that you wanted to get together with him. He came to the church because he needed some water for scrying, and I helped him out with the spell. Apparently, he has commitments in Stonard, and has been asked to be there as soon as possible."

Alex collapsed into a chair "So...he's leaving today"

Samuel nodded solemnly "Aye...noonish"

The mage rubbed her temples with her hands. It was now or never. She had to make her move now! "Alright. I'm ready"

Samuel jumped to his feet "Haha! Knew you could do it!" He walked over and caught Alex in a bear hug "I'm certain you won't let this fish get away"

Alex just rolled her eyes and sighed

***

Alex knocked timidly on the solid door. Why, why, why was she so nervous! She had faced down a dragon before...now that, that was scary. Meeting a man who she finds physically attractive...that should be no problem! She moved to knock again, but stopped her hand a bare finger width from the door. Gah! She can't do this!. Alex turned to leave, heading back down the hallway to the inn's common room, when she heard the door open behind her

"Hello?" Oh...his voice. A rich tenor, both young and mature simultaneously. Ahh...why did the gods torment her so!

Alex turned around "H...hi" She mentally slapped herself. STUPID! "Erm...Hello!"She tried to smile a friendly grin, but only ended up with a stupid grimace on a beet-red face. "I...I..." she was at a loss for words. Despite how she prided herself in her appearance, he was...a thousand times better looking then she was. Long, blonde hair, glacier blue eyes, a perfect smile...gah! She couldn't do this "I...I knocked on the wrong door...I'll, I'll just be-"

Her stammering was cut off by his rich, deep laughter "Nonsense."

"W...what?"

He came over to her, placed a hand lightly on her shoulder, and looked her strait in the eyes "I know you've been wanting to get to know me for a while now."

"Well, I....how?"

The wandering mage grinned "Some would call it intuition...but I would call it 'seeing a normally excellent mage confusing bat guano for enriched soil when I walked in the store'...though intuition is much shorter"

Alex didn't think she could blush any deeper. She was wrong "But...I....was I really that obvious"

His smile spread from ear to ear "Completely"

"Well...I head you were leaving today and..."

"Yes...I have to head off west. I have some friends out there who have requested my help, and I have overstayed my welcome a bit. I have the herbs I need for my research...your friend Samuel was most helpful in that"

Alex chuckled "He's good at that...sometimes he can loose track of time and have to spend the night out in the woods"

The mage nodded "He does seem like the type...I'm Irin Dyr'il by the way" he grinned as he held out his hand

Alex grabbed his hand hand shook it nervously"Alex....Alexandra Petrovich."

"Petrovich. That's a Hamergrad name, isn't it?"

Alex grinned "That it is. I was born in Yzni, however my family moved to Estillia when I was six."

"You barely have an accent...I wasn't able to place it until now"

Alex shrugged "Well, it's enough for most of the towns people to notice" Irin gave her a questioning look "Not important. Dyr'il...sounds elven...though you don't look the part"

A smirk crossed the wanderer's face "Not elven, nope. Let's just say, I have an interesting background, shall we?"

Alex smiled back "Sure, why not?"

Irin looked along the dark and dusty corridor "I'm starting to feel a little cramped here, are you?"

Alex looked around "Well, it is early morning in a mountain town...seems a waste to spend your last one inside"

Irin laughed "My thoughts exactly" he held his arm out "Care to show me around on this, my last morning in your town, Lady Mage?"

Alex gladly took it, looping her arm in with his "I accept your offer, good wanderer"

Irin looked down her and grinned "So, where's the best spot to view the sunrise here?"

***

Alex laughed and leaned into Irin, her eyes wandering over the pastel-colored ruins. She felt like she had known him for years, and yet she had only really met him four hours ago. "Well, you've lead a pretty interesting life, haven't you? I mean, I thought my dragon story was interesting, but it's but a footnote compared to your life"

Irin smiled down at her "It's the life of a wandering mage. No guild, no obligations, more excitement"

Alex sighed and shook her head "I couldn't live like that. I need my guild for support...I couldn't conduct the research I do here without their help...and there's no way the guild would permit me to go on any sort of adventure."

Irin frowned "Not true...I think you would do well as a wanderer."

"I don't think I could do that, even though..."

"Even though it is a dream for you. You dream to leave this little, bigoted village and have great adventures, see things you have only read about in the tomes your guild lets you borrow for study. You wish to change the world"

"Yes...I mean no...I don't think I could...even though"

"You want to" Irin grabbed Alex by the shoulders "I came to town to do some studies myself...however, I stayed for you. I felt something in you...a talent that is being wasted here. You are no simple hedge wizard, no. You are archmage material"

Alex was stunned "What? Me?"

"Yes, definitely you" Irin smiled and leaned in. Then he kissed her.

Alex jumped back in surprise. Irin's smile was replaced with concern 'What? Did I do something wrong"

"No...no. I...I'm just not certain" She was so torn right now. Here was the man of her dreams, offering her the opportunity of her lifetime. But the guild had done so much for her...it had taught her magic, given her a place in the world...ohh, what should she do?

"Come with me." Irin whispered in her ear "I will teach you all my secrets, I will share myself with you."

Alex took a deep breath. This was a dream come true, a once in a lifetime opportunity. "I will"

A huge grin spread across Irin's face. "I knew you would!" He then kissed her. Alex responded warmly, their tongues playing around inside each other's mouths. Just when she began to feel a little out of breath, Irin broke off the kiss and moved down, kissing her cheek, her neck, her shoulder.

Alex let out a little gasp, but that quickly became a chuckle. "Not one to wait, eh?"

Irin stopped his kisses for once second "Not really" He grinned, before returning to her mouth. His arms reached behind her as he began to undo take off her robe. Slowly, sensually, stroking her back as he freed her from the entrapping cloth. He broke off the kiss for just long enough that he could get her arms free and get a good look at her breasts. He grinned, and then returned to kissing her.

Alex was a bit perturbed, but it really didn't matter...his kissing was so hot! She too reached behind him, and started untying his robe. He chuckled, and slowly stood up, cloyingly breaking off the kiss. Alex finished untying his robe, and as it fell to the ground, he quickly slipped off his shirt as well, leaving his lithe and well muscled body free. She grinned at him "You are definitely more handsome without all that cloth.

Irin grinned and untied his his pants "I agree" he whispered as they too dropped to the earth and were kicked out of the way. His manhood stood proud and free, released from it's confinements. Alex grinned slyly, then kissed it on it's head. She took a deep breath in of it's musky sent...and it only turned her on more. Irin leaned against the shattered stone pillar behind him "Go ahead" he smirked

Alex only grinned back, before taking the head of his cock into her mouth. Oh, it tasted sooo good. She moved back and forth slowly, her tongue playing around with his stiffening penis. She reached down between her legs, and began fingering herself, as Irin groaned at the feeling of her slowly sucking on him. Alex just felt so...good. Sucking on Irin, it was better than the few times she had had actual sex before. She gasped and groaned around his cockhead, and slowly sped herself up. She wanted him to orgasm, bad. Every muscle in her body ached, groaned for his cum. She needed him!

His cock started feeling strange, but Alex was too lost in the act to really care. In fact, when her whole body stated spasming, like it was undergoing one huge, beautiful orgasm, she just intensified her sucking. She needed him to cum...ohh, her very soul needed his sweet cum in her stomach, rolling in her cmmouth.

Irin started grunting "Oh...uhh...I...uhh" Alex felt his penis tense in her mouthh. Yes! Once more, twice, three times! Then his load exploded into her mouth. Ahh! It tasted soooo good. Just like she had imagined it! Rich, powerful, musky. Just like him. She opened her eyes, and looked upon him.

Only...this wasn't the Irin she had began to suck off. This was a completely different being. For starters, he was covered in brilliant blue scales, fading to a pale yellow on his chest, with a draconic snout, which just happened to be grinning slyly at her. She felt something brush her cheek, and as she flinched and looked at it, she saw it was his tail...long, flexible, and spade tipped. "So...how do you like it?" The creature said...with Irin's voice. Indeed, his eyes were the exact same color as Irin's...even though his blonde hair was replaced with a dark, smoky grey.

"Ir...Irin?" She asked, her voice sounding a little husky...though it was probably with surprise.

The draconic creature grinned "The real Irin. Not some human costume"

"But...I don't understand"

His hand brushed her face, traveling along her snout...wait, snout? "You will" he said, and kissed her, long, forked tongue playing around in her muzzle

"Wait!" Alex cried, and fell back, landing on her... tail? She looked down. At her new body. Or make that...his new body. A very erect penis stood, jutting out from where her vagina was just minutes before. And her breasts were gone...instead she had a well muscled, pale-orange scaled chest, blending down to a deep, wine red color along her sides and arms. Her hands only had three fingers and one thumb, and her now digitigrade and clawed feet had a similar arrangement. A tail identical to Irin's in all but color ran down between her legs, and she noticed her hair was now a very vivid blue mane of hair "What...what did you do to me?"

"Nothing, really. You did it yourself. I was just a catalyst"

"What?"

Irin knelt down beside her "You aren't a human....not anymore at least. You are a Kiithkin."

Alex couldn't believe what she was hearing...no longer human? Kiithkin? Catalyst "What are you saying?"

Irin placed a claw on Alex's shoulder "You have an innate magical talent only a few in this world posses. However, most humanoid bodies cannot handle such power. Therefor, for you to harness this potential without you killing yourself, you had to change from human to kiith."

"But...then why am I a guy?"

A grin lit up Irin's face "'Cause you're hotter as a guy" however Alex's smoldering glare wiped the grin from his face, "To be fully truthful, the transformation into a kiith also turn you into a homosexual male"

"So I'm gay?" This couldn't be real...Alex was transformed not only into a male lizard...but into a gay male lizard?

Irin stroked her cheek once again "It's okay...I've seen this reaction several times. It's a big shock, I know, but you'll come to love it! The intimacy we kiith share cannot be matched by anything else"

Alex shook her head. No...she wouldn't come to love this...she was transformed against her will! "Get away from me, you sick bastard"

Irin winced "I deserved that...however if I hadn't changed you now, in a matter of years, that town down there would have been reduced to a smoking crater. You've heard cases where a talented young wizard spontaneously explodes in a mana storm that destroyed entire city blocks. Those youth had tapped into their inborn power, and since their human, or elven, or gnomish forms couldn't handle it, they died, and released all that power, all at once"

Alex was stunned. She had lost a friend, from her guild years, to an explosion like that. She had been called in to break up a mage duel taking place in the central marketplace of her village, when one of the dueling wizards seemed to loose control of his spell, and the witnesses said that he appeared to melt into a pool of pure white energy...the surviving townsmen couldn't describe it accurately, only saying that it was like a sun, or a grenade of light. Most of those who had survived had been irreversibly blinded, and a good deal were also deafened. And this power resided inside her? "How...how is that even possible?"

Irin just shrugged "We don't know why it happens. We just know that it happens, and that's reason enough to try and prevent this power from being unleashed recklessly. Seven hundred years ago, a group of young wizards, men and women, elf and human, discovered a way to detect the potential for this power. A crystal, found in the Firabar Mountains, between Gallia and Durral Krak, reacted strongly to those who possessed the potential." Irin reached over to his discarded and forgotten robe, and dug out a small, golden crystal. "The crystal, of which this is a shard, when touched by one with the potential, becomes active, and begins to glow on it's own accord" As he said this, the did indeed begin to glow, and rung with a low and delicate melody. Irin grinned and sighed at this sound "It becomes stronger when multiple persons with the potential are in the area...which is how I found you"

"So you found me, because the crystal indicated that there we two people in town with the potential?"

"Well, three actually. You know the blacksmith fellow, Aarith. He has the ability also"

"But he's a dwarf...he can't cast arcane magic to save his life!"

"Exactly why I didn't have to awaken him. If he doesn't know arcane magic, then there is no reason for worry. He can't tap into the power, therefor he cannot tap into the dragonblood...that's our term for it"

"Dragonblood?"

Irin smirked "Aye, apt name, isn't it?"

Alex shook her head "So this dragonblood thing...it's only dangerous when one casts arcane magic? So then why couldn't they stop using arcane magic?"

"You have the potential to shape mountains, and you're going to just lock it up and throw away the key? We are wizards, we aren't about to do that!"

Now it was Alex's time to smirk, a smile spreading along her snout "That sounds like the mages I know...so then why did they have to transform?"

"Well, see, they didn't know they were going to transform...in fact, all they wanted to do was rid themselves of the potential to loose control...to gain mastery over their dragonblood. The crystal was the only thing that really proved this power's existence, besides the meltdowns. So the mages gathered as many others like them they could find, and in all, there were twenty seven."

"Twenty seven the world over?"

"No. Twenty seven who could cast arcane magic, and were of true heart, so that they did not give control over dragonblood for those who would abuse it. This original twenty seven gathered all their years of research and study into dragonsblood, and devised a ritual that would grant them control over this power, as well and granting them the power to spread this control to others. The ritual took a full three days to cast...and when it was completed, the crystal transformed all those there into the first kiithkin"

"And they were all guys?"

Irin grinned "They all ended up as guys, and gay as well. It was needed...ability to transform people is passed by the male essence."

"You transform people with your cum?"

"That's a crude way of putting it, but yes." Irin frowned at Alex's disgust. "What? Many species transfer power via excretions. Lycanthropes with their saliva and essence, vampires with their saliva and blood, dragons with their essence-"

Alex waved her clawed hand "Okay, okay...but that still doesn't explain the gay part"

Irin brushed Alex's hair away from her face "Because, when we were first created, we realized that the only things that could ensure loyalty and dedication to our brothers were love and fear. We chose love...and so, when we all became male, we all became gay as well. Just so you know, before I became a kiith, I would never had considered guys attractive...but now, seven hundred years later...I wouldn't have it any other way"

Alex stared at Irin, stunned "You're seven hundred years old?"

A smile spread across Irin's face once again "That I am. Seven hundred thirty nine...and i don't look a day over twenty one"

"So you were one of the original kiith then?"

"Yep...I am one of the oldest kiith actually. I was thirty five when the spell was first cast."

"So...so you don't age?"

"We don't age, no. We're effectively immortal, as far as I know. Swords and slings can't kill us, we don't get sick, the deadliest of poisons only makes us dizzy. Only six of us have died, and that was to either powerful death magic, or to starvation."

"So then, how many of you...of us are there?"

"About five hundred now...we find about sixty new kiith every century."

"So then, if there's five hundred of a new species wandering around human lands, why aren't we at least hinted at in literature?"

Irin smirked "Full of questions, aren't you?"

"Well, I think I have a right-"

"No, no...no problem. What is a kiith if not curios? Most of us are very skilled with transformative magics. Shapeshipting. I'll teach you as we go along here. As for tomes and research papers and the such? There are kiith in all the major guilds, they help keep the lid on our secret. Because if the common people found out about a race of gay half-dragons with the power to turn their village into a smoking crater..." he just left in hanging there

The silence stretched on several long moments, before Irin looked around and took a long sniff of the air. Alex, too, decided to look around. The morning mist was quickly evaporating, leaving the ruins, and those within it, exposed to travelers along main road, and right now she really didn't want to be seen. Before she could say anything, Irin got to his feet. "Well, that's enough chit-chat for now. Weve got to get to Stonard by nightfall, and the sooner we start, the sooner we get there."

"Wait! We're leaving? What about my shop? What about your stuff in the inn?"

Irin shrugged "Not important/"

"Not important? I spent the past four years of my life on that store!"

Irin looked down at her and sighed "We'll come back for it in a few months, I promise. I left a note with Samuel telling him that you and I are going for a trip to see a mutual friend, and will be back by Havesttide."

"You what?"

Irin grinned, and pulled a piece of parchment from his cast-off robe "Did I say left? I meant leaving." The note burst into flame, a spell Alex identified as teleportation. "I knew you'd be alright with it, anyways"Alex glowered at him. "You know, you look cutter with a scowl then you do with a smile?"

Alex's red face became even redder. Irin chuckled mischievously as he gathered up his and Alex's clothing, and dumped them into a portal. "They're good there until tomorrow morning, when they'll be dumped at my side"

"Wait? You expect me to walk to Stonard? Naked?"

Irin looked aghast "You mean you wanted to walk there clothed? What are you, a human? Nope...you're going to travel like a kiith. Cloths just hide some of the cute bits, and slow us down when we're making out."

"What?"

Irin lent down and kissed her on her noose. "Trust me...better off without the cloths. I give you two hours, tops."

"But...but..."

"Hey, through out your old inhibitions. The kiith word for modesty and the kiith word for foolishness are the same thing."

"Really?"

"Aye...we call it 'foolishness'. Now come on. Let's get a move on...or do you want the next adventurer barreling down that road to get a good look at your cute ass?"

Alex's eyes opened wide in shock, and she quickly scrambled to her feet...only to fall flat on her face. Irin sighed, and helped her back up "You can't walk on your heels anymore. Walk on your toes...on the balls of your feet. Much easier that way. Use your tail for balance"

Alex followed his step-by-step guide...and was able to walk a few steps before stumbling. Irin reached out to catch her, but she waved him off...she was going to do this by herself. She straitened her back...it was much easier without breasts...and moved her tail slowly, first left, then right. Catching the rhythm it made, she took her first step, then second, then third. No problem. She grinned back over her shoulder Irin gave her a thumbs up "That is some fine tail you've got there."

Alex puffed out her chest at the compliment...he looked mighty fine this morning as well...his graceful form, cute snout, impressive sack...gah! No..not now! She mentally reprimanded herself. She was still a girl mentally, even though her slowly growing member protested otherwise. Instead, she turned to look back at him "Coming or what?"

Irin smiled from pointed ear to pointed ear, and hurried to catch up to her "We can take a nice rangers path I know of here. Not used much anymore, and the scenery is simply spectacular. It's about a quarter of a league that way" he pointed off to the southern end of the ruins. "It will get us to Stonard in only an hour longer then the main road" he took he hand in his "But that really doesn't matter now, does it?"

Alex shook her head. Why not roll with it? She was finally free from the town that mistrusted her, a guild that restrained her, and a life that didn't really suit her,. She was certain that in four months she could find a spell to reverse the change, so why not enjoy it while it lasted.

And thus thinking, the youngest kiith set off with the eldest, into whatever adventures yet await them.

((Yes, there is a sequel. Don't expect it for another two weeks at the latest. Again, this is my first story, so any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!)
