Chapter 3: The school trip.

So...chapter two ended with everyone going to bed, I wonder what will happen in the night...will everything be ok? Will both Boltwire and Hypter be all right with sleeping in Spyro and Cynder's house? Don't ask me because I don't know yet either.

In the middle of the night there was loud crackling sounds followed by a flashing light, bright enough to wake the sleeping dragons up. "What was that?" Cynder yawned sleepily, just receiving a grunt from Spyro. "Nothing can wake you up huh?" Cynder asked, as she sighed at the fact that her purple boyfriend could sleep through almost anything.

Hypter had already made his way to the room Boltwire was sleeping in. "Boltwire, what is going on?" Hypter asked as he stepped into the room.

"I don't know, I must have dreamt about using an attack and accidentally made it in my sleep." Boltwire replied, as puzzled as Hypter. Cynder who now also had walked into the room had heard the answer so she didn't have to ask what happened. "I'm sorry if I woke you guys up, I didn't mean to." Boltwire said as he yawned.

"Well, I'll...get my sleeping bag in here, so that I can keep an eye on you..." Hypter said as he walked away to get his sleeping bag. "Ok, then I'll go back up again, just like...call if it is something ok?" Cynder said, making sure Boltwire didn't feel uncomfortable.

"Sure, and again, I'm sorry for disturbing you." Boltwire replied.

"Don't worry, it's ok...but now I'm going up and try to get some more sleep." Cynder said, as she walked out from the room. Then Hypter came with his sleeping bag and putting it beside the bed Boltwire was sleeping in. "You really don't have to do this Hypter." Boltwire said as Hypter crept down in his sleeping bag. "I know but just in case something happens I rather be right here to deal with it immediately." Hypter replied.

The rest of the night passes by with no further complications, and when the morning came they all woke up rested. Hypter woke up first because he liked to take a morning flight before breakfast. When he came back the others where already eating. "Oh, hi Hypter, where have you been?" Cynder asked with a sleepy smile.

"I was just out on a little morning flight, I always does that." Hypter replied, as he took a seat at the table.

When they got to the school Cyril stood at the entrance and told everyone that they should assemble in the auditorium for information. So the four friends went to the auditorium and took a seat. Terrador cleared his throat and began to speak. "Today I will start with introducing two new students." Terrador said as two dragons stepped up behind him. "They have moved here to Warfang recently and will be your new classmates, I hope you all will treat them properly. Now I will let them introduce themselves." Terrador ended.

"Well then I will start." The slightly bigger and black furred dragon said. "My name is Zepher and I am the older brother of Terran, who is standing beside me. If you have any questions...don't bother me with them, my brother can surely answer them better than I can." Zepher said, as he felt slightly uncomfortable with having all dragons looking at him. "Oh, my turn, my turn." Terran almost yelled as he bounced on the spot. "My name is Terran, I'm Zepher's younger brother and I'm pleased to meet you all. The green lines you can see on Zepher's side are somewhat connected with his second element, which is earth. His primary is shadow as you might have guessed. Oh and before I forget it, he is a weirdo so don't piss him of or he'll kick your ass." Terran was interrupted when Zepher grabbed his muzzle.

"Shut up you chatterbox, I told you to not talk about me...you are supposed to introduce yourself." Zepher said as he let go of Terran's muzzle. "Sorry Zepher, I forgot. So, my element is earth and as you see my belly is white. And I have this funny egg shaped tail-blade with spikes, I love to make new friends and I'm very friendly and if you have any questions I would love to answer them." Terran said with a smile.

"And he just loooves to talk!" Zepher added snappy.

"Anyway...we teachers have planned a school trip to the dragon temple as a part of the historical class. We shall fly there and sleep over, we will be back here tomorrow at afternoon. I know it is sudden but we have informed your parents about it. We will bring food and tents with us but that is nothing you students have to worry about. All you have to do is to stay close to another and keep together with the group. Now if you all go out Cyril and Volteer will be waiting for you and they will make sure you will get pared up with someone." Terrador explained.

So all the students went outside and as normal students...they started to chitchat. "Ok, listen up you younglings!" Cyril said with raised and annoyed voice. "Ok, a third of the class will go with me, the other third with Volteer and the last third with Terrador." Cyril explained.

"Of course...I was lucky enough to come with my friends and the new and quiet guy...but also with his always talking little brother...not to mention that I also came in Volteer's group." Hypter stated. "Oh come on, it isn't that bad, and besides...when Spyro and I first met you, you too was the 'new and quiet guy' and you still are...well not new but quiet." Cynder said, trying to calm her irritated friend.

"She is right Hypter, it isn't that bad. And after all it's just for two days." Spyro said. "And besides, you have stood out with Boltwire. Now you just have to handle two more." Spyro said and smiled. "I guess you two have right...I just hope it will be a nice and quiet flight there and...that the rest of this boring trip is quiet as well." Hypter said with a sigh. Just then he saw a green figure slide up next to him. "What's your name? And why are you so cold? How old are you? Don't you think this is exiting?" Terran asked while he bounced beside of Hypter. "My name is Hypter, I'm cold because I am an ice dragon, I'm old enough to think you are irritating and I do not think this will be exiting...can you please leave me alone now?" Hypter said, trying to ignore the green dragon the best he could. "Lil bro, what did I say about annoying others?" Zepher asked as he grabbed his little brother and pulled him back from Hypter. "That I shouldn't do it..." Terran answered. "But I just wanted to know something about him, and besides I'm only a little younger than you are!" Terran protested.

"I know but you still act like a hatchling!" Zepher complained. "Sorry for that...he can be quite annoying some times..." Zepher apologised to Hypter.

"No worries, I would just have frozen his jaw shut after a few more questions." Hypter replied coldly. "I actually likes your style, maybe we could talk a little on the way, I bet we have more in common that just wanting to shut up my lil bro's talking." Zepher laughed

"I suppose...but just so you know, I'm not the most talkative dragon here..." Hypter replied.

"Neither am I...seems like my brother and Volteer have something in common too." Zepher said and laughed as he noticed how Terran and Volteer talked like there was no tomorrow. "Except both are on my list of; Dragons that must be silenced?" Hypter asked with a short laugh. "Oh, you have that list too?" Zepher asked with a chuckle.

"Yes...after the war I switched to that list from my; Going to kill." Hypter said with a laugh.

"Ehm...ok, I'm glad you are not having it now." Zepher said with an uncertain laugh.

"You wouldn't have to be frightened anyway, you seem far too...like me, to kill. But I'm uncertain about that brother of yours and Volteer though..." Hypter said with a chuckle.

"Ok, then you can start using it again." Zepher said with a grin.

"Don't encourage him with those things...you never now if he takes it seriously or not." Cynder said with a laugh. "Oh come on Cynder, so far I haven't killed anyone." Hypter said, as he let out a loud laugh. "True, and we'd rather keep it that way, wouldn't we?" Cynder asked.

"I guess you have right...but it would sure be pleasant to silence those two..." Hypter said, as he raised his tail towards Terran and Volteer. "I just want to let you know one thing, if you touch my brother, you are dead." Zepher said, as he pulled Hypter's tail away from the direction of Terran and Volteer.

"Oh, you don't have to worry, I wasn't going to even get in range of that chatterbox but if he annoys me...well, let's just say I don't like annoying people." Hypter replied with a smile.

When Hypter and Terran were done talking, the group took of. They were quite far behind because of Volteer's chitchat with Terran but that was suspected since Volteer actually never had done anything on time.

They had gotten to the outskirts of the swamp that surrounded the dragon temple. When suddenly Terran darted towards the ground, to end in an almost gracious landing. Most of the group followed, except Hypter and Volteer. "Hey wait, come back here!" Volteer tried to demand...but no one listened. "It's ok Volteer, I'll get them." Hypter said, as he followed the others. "Look what I found! It looks like a piece of armour or something!" Terran exclaimed as he bounced on the spot like a hatchling that got to know about its element. "It looks old...do you want to put it on?" Zepher asked.

"...Can I? Can I really try it on?" Terran was surprised about what Zepher just said.

"Sure, I don't think anyone is missing it anyway..." Zepher answered. So Terran put the breastplate on, it seemed to fit him quite good...in body at least, since it made him act like a hatchling running around, pouncing on flies and other small bugs. Pretending he was an adult dragon attacking enemies. "Have you played enough yet?" Hypter asked as he descended in front of Terran. "I'm sorry...I got carried away it's just that..." Terran halted and then ran into the swamp, the others following behind. "I think I can see something shiny over there!" Terran yelled in excitement. "Wait it can be a..." Hypter didn't get to finish his sentence before apes surrounded them. "Trap... why did you just have to run in here? Anyway just stand still and don't get in the way, I'm taking them out now." Hypter said, as he launched a couple of small ice needles in the throat of every ape that surrounded them. The apes died immediately and fell to the ground. "Grab that thing and lets get out of here..." Hypter said with a sigh.

"Wow, did you see that Zepher?! He kicked all their arses at the same time! Could you do that?" Terran asked as he looked at Hypter in awe, as he at the same time tried to get to the shiny object. "Just get that...whatever it is and let's get out of here." Zepher answered sharply.

When they got back out Volteer stood and waited for them. "Where did you go? I was worried to death! Do you know there are said to be apes still living in the swamp?" Volteer asked, almost skipping a few heartbeats. "Calm down Volteer, we engaged a few apes so that Terran could...what was that other shiny thing you found?" Hypter asked.

"It's a helmet, I think it was almost golden coloured when it was new." Terran answered.

"A helmet? Most interesting, let me have a look." Volteer said, getting more exited when he saw it. He even forgot that the students had been fighting just moments ago. "Volteer, can we take that later...when we have reached the dragon temple for example?" Hypter asked since they still had about an hours flight left and it was beginning to get dark. "Oh right, I'm sorry, yes let's take off." Volteer said as they all took wings and headed to the dragon temple.

"Thanks...Hypter, was it?" Zepher said, as he flew beside Hypter.

"Yes, and no problem...I take care of those I consider friends, even if your brother isn't directly my friend. But you are and he is your brother so...but I don't know so much about you two. Do you mind telling me a little about yourself?" Hypter asked.

"Nice of you to consider me as a friend, and sure I can tell you some more about me and my brother. We moved to Warfang just some days ago, we live in the east part of the city in an apartment. The fur is a special family treat, so is the shadow element. Not the element itself but after some time the dragons in our clan gets an individual change in their element. Everyone get a specific ability, I think I will get mine soon. I don't know how it comes my brother don't have either of it... But I guess it's better that way, he is too kind to get bullied." Zepher said.

"Did you get bullied where you lived before?" Hypter asked.

"Yea, it's because I have fur and not scales. For some reason they don't think I'm 'pure blood' but I just have family members from far away, where almost every dragon has fur. But I'm just glad Terran didn't get it, he would probably not be able to handle it if anyone would bully him." Zepher said.

"Well, as long as you two are with me, no one at the school will bully you. I solved that problem the first day, they all know I was unbeaten in practice during war, and also out in the field...as you might noticed." Hypter said with a smile.

"Yeah...I'm glad I don't have you as an enemy." Zepher replied with a laugh.

When Volteer's group finally arrived at the dragon temple, he was bombarded with questions from Cyril and Terrador. Most of the students just laughed but then a harsh cold wind silenced everyone, even the two guardians. "Silence, don't mock Volteer. If your mocking him, your mocking me, so...does anyone have anything to add?" Hypter asked. There was complete silence, even among the guardians. "Now then, should we get the tents up before it gets completely dark?" Hypter suggested.

"Good idea Hypter." Cyril said as he, Terrador and Volteer started to get the tents up.

After they had got the tents up the made up three campfires to grill some sausages, and after that they went into their respective tents. The tents where quite big, enough for six adult dragons, so there was a lot of place for the group. Spyro and Cynder laid curled up together in one sleeping spot instead of two and cuddled furthest inside the tent. Then Hypter and Zepher laid and faced each other as they talked, in the middle of the tent. Then closest to the exit Boltwire, Volteer and Terran laid, chatting wildly about the breastplate and the helmet. They had laid themselves so that Volteer lay over two spots against the side of the tent and Boltwire and Terran lay beside each other.

It was not so awfully late so the group decided to just lie there and talk. "How come you are so respected around here Hypter?" Zepher asked. "Mostly because I was a general during the war, the same ranks as the guardians have. But the difference was that I killed anyone without remorse. Even if I was general for the medic team I still engaged in combat and one time I took on about hundred apes alone. The guardians know I'm more skilled than them that's why they don't like when I get upset." Hypter replied, making Zepher back up a little. "Don't worry, I don't kill anyone just like that. They really have to piss me of quite good before I go to killing them. Happened once actually, it was during the war. I had a dragon with fire as element; he betrayed the medics and tried to kill one of them when she tried to heal him. Luckily I was there and stopped him but those who saw it didn't notice his attempt to attack and said I was a murderer. I used it to keep all the others in my group under control. Later when I returned to Warfang I used the rumour to keep the criminality under control in the eastern part of the city." Hypter told Zepher.

"So you are 'Coldheart' I thought I recognised the name but I never thought it was you, you seem like such a nice guy" Zepher said.

"Thanks and 'Coldheart' was the name my allies gave me during the war. Mostly because of the seemingly harsh decisions I took. I often had to take decisions that involved leaving someone behind, often the one I left wouldn't have survived but the rest didn't care about that. But I had to do it to save as many as possible." Hypter explained. "And my enemies called me 'Hypter the horrible' because of my psychological abilities but my 'real' name is Winter." Hypter continued.

"You seem to be loved by both sides." Zepher laughed.

"Yea...well at least no one argues long enough to get me in a bad mood." Hypter replied with a grin. "Ok, I'm going to bed now anyway...Boltwire, make sure you won't lit your flash light to early will you?" Hypter asked with a grin.

"And make sure you don't turn me into an ice cube." Boltwire replied with a short laugh.

The next morning Hypter woke...as early as usually. So as usual he decided to take a little short flight before breakfast. When he left the tent he walked into what seemed like a wall of impenetrable fog. "Curse this fog...I suppose it's because of the swamp..." Hypter sighed. But when he was a few meters above the ground he noticed the fog was clearing slightly. After he had circled around the temple a few times he decided to go back.

When he got back, Hypter noticed that Flame was hovering above the tent Volteer and the rest of Hypter's group slept in. And Flame had a bucket of water in his paws; Hypter understood what Flame was planning to do so he hovered a little bit from Flame. Then Volteer came out of the tent, then Boltwire, Spyro, Cynder, Terran and when Zepher came out Flame tilted the bucket with water. Flame was surprised when he didn't here a "splash" sound and when he looked down the water was levitating in the air. Flame had just time to think "Aw crap..." Before he heard Hypter's voice.

"Heads up Flame!" And then the water splashed into Flame's face.

"Damn, I thought you was out on a flight." Flame said as he turned around in midair to face Hypter. "Sorry but I decided I had flew long enough, so I headed back, just in time to save Zepher from getting soaked in water it seems." Hypter said. "But you should now it have consequences to bully my friends." Hypter continued, as Flame began to feel cold.

"Wait, what are you doing? You can't freeze me when I'm still up in the air!" Flame yelled, as he tried to get closer to the ground but he barely was able to keep flapping. "Oh, I sure can Flame but don't worry it wont feel a thing...on me." Hypter replied as he froze Flame into a solid block of ice and let him fall to the ground.

The ice block shattered when it hit the ground, leaving Flame in pain among the shards. "Hypter what are you doing? Stop it immediately!" Terrador yelled as he ran out from his tent when he heard the crash from the ice block. "Stay out of this Terrador, this is between me and Flame." Hypter replied coldly.

"I wish I could but we guardians have the responsibility to take care of all the students." Terrador said. "...Very well. I just hope you take care of Zepher next time as well." Hypter said as he turned away from Flame.

"Ugh...you just had to take that half blood under protection too, didn't you?" Flame said quietly, almost inaudible. "What did you call Zepher?" Hypter asked as he had dashed down on Flame with his claws on Flame's throat. "Half blood." Flame squeaked.

"What did you say? I didn't hear you; you better speak up so everyone can hear Flame. What did you call Zepher?" Hypter said, as he pushed his claws harder on Flame's throat, making Flame squeal. "I called Zepher a half blood!" Flame almost yelled, except that the guardians had began to react about what Hypter just had done they where shocked about hearing Flame say something like that. Hypter's eyes had turned ice blue and he had no emotion showing at all in them. He raised his tail and put it on Flame's stomach. Flame began to twitch a little when he felt the cold almost pulsating from Hypter's tail-blade. "So, tough guy, what are you planning to do? You can't do anything while the guardians are here." Flame grinned.

"You wanna bet, hotshot?" Hypter asked, getting an insane smile on his face. Making Flame begin to twitch a little. "Come on, show me." Flame said but he soon wished he hadn't. Hypter created a bubble of ice around them before the three guardians had any time to stop Hypter.

"SHAZZAM!!! Zephyr yelled." Zephyr, get your paws off of my story! "Sorry I gotta have my fun too." Zepher this is my story I am the only one who can throw random stuff in like that. "Oh, me next, me next, me next, I want to say something too." "No way bro! I'm the one trying to be funny here!" Gaah! Get away from my keyboard! And besides, you are with me not against me, so this is the wrong point to have a random SHAZZAM!!! On...this was just a random point Zepher and I decided to bring into the story. Anyway lets continue...

"Now Flame, I don't have to worry about the guardians disturbing me." Hypter said, grinning psychotic. "You, you will not touch me before the guardians break through your barrier." Flame said with a shaky voice.

"Oh...do you think, that I would put up a barrier that is easy to break through? All three of them is already attacking, you are just not noticing it. That is how strong the barrier is." Hypter said, still wearing the psychotic grin. "What...are you planning to do?" Flame asked, shaking, not only because of the cold but also of fear. "Do you really want to know that?" Hypter asked, his face became deadly serious. "Yes, come on, tell me, I can handle it." Flame answered. "Since you are so eager, I'm not going to kill you, I won't even harm you. I am going to let you go. But if you so much as look in the direction of Zepher, Terran or Boltwire. I will bring so much pain to you, that if you will survive half of it...I would be surprised." Hypter said as his eyes turned back to the normal green. And the barrier of ice slowly disappeared.

The three guardians stopped attacking when the ice barrier began to melt. Volteer and Cyril didn't say anything when Hypter and Flame was revealed; Terrador was the first one to speak. "Hypter, you said you could handle it." Terrador said as he walked towards Hypter and Flame. "I know, I'm just so damn tired about his continually bullying." Hypter replied.

"If you feel that way you should talk to us not take it on your own paws." Terrador said.

"We both know you guardians won't do anything, I'm so sick of it. All these rules, but some seem to stand above them, the richer families for example and the royal." Hypter said. "And I'm so sick of if...but sure, go ahead, punish me. But remember...I would down at least one of you before you get close to me." Hypter said, getting into an offensive position. "Are you threatening us Hypter?" Cyril asked, getting more serious then he already was. "Depends on how you see it, I never hurt Flame, just shock him up a little." Hypter replied.

"Guys, just drop it...I'm fine after all." Flame said with a sigh, making the guardians go from an offensive stance to a defensive to no stance at all. "I think we all need some breakfast, lets forget about this little accident and get some food." Volteer said.

"Best idea in the entire time." Flame said and got up and brushed of the dirt.

After the breakfast everyone went into the tents again to chitchat before the guardians should guide them in the dragon temple. "Thanks for preventing Flame for dropping the water on me but you really shouldn't got into a fight with him." Zepher said.

"Don't mention it, he really needed a good shake, at some point he must understand that he can't treat everyone like he wants without consequences." Hypter answered. "And besides...I did it so your fur wouldn't get wet, what I know, fur stinks when it gets wet." Hypter continued. "It does but after a bath it stops smelling again." Zepher replied.

"Wait...how can a bath stop the smell? That would only make it more wet." Hypter said, a bit confused. "Yes but I dry it off after the bath of course, I don't stand around wet all day." Zepher said with a laugh. "Who knows? Maybe you like walking around with your fur soaked in water...if you get wet and shakes it of on me, I'll kill you, just so you know." Hypter said.

"Ok, now it's time for the sightseeing." Volteer said, breaking all the conversation. "That's right, rise and shine everyone, let's go." He continued.

"Please tell me I'm allowed to water levitate inside the temple." Hypter said to Volteer.

"Nope, you will walk just as the rest of us." Volteer answered.

"Lovely...I just hope it's not taking so long then." Hypter said.

"It will, I have been here before...and this place is huge." Spyro said, butting into the conversation.

After some organisation and countless rules with "don'ts" and "must's" the guiding could proceed. Each group going in it's own direction. After some time with Volteer's never ending talking, the only one that still listened was Terran. "Come on, let's take a pause." Spyro said as he suddenly took a turn, and the rest followed him, except Terran. Volteer didn't notice anything of course; he was too distracted with babbling all that had happened in the temple. He talked about both historical facts and own experiences. After some time the five dragons got to a closed door. "I don't remembered any closed doors here..." Spyro said a little confused. "Boltwire, could you use you electricity to open it?" Hypter asked.

"Well, I can try." Boltwire answered, as he fired a small lightning on it but nothing happened. "Maybe I have to use a little more power." Boltwire said as he used a more powerful attack.

"That did the trick." Boltwire said as the door slowly began to open and the five dragons went inside the room. All they could do was stare with their jaws wide open as they saw what the room contained and probably the reason the door was locked...
