The Darkness

By: Blahman919

Death, Death is only the begging. This is true for many in the empire, those who believe in the angles are protected by them, and when one dies they are taken to become angles themselves. Those who do not believe are hunted down and killed by the assassins of the empire, then fed to the demons waiting at the gates of hell for new soles to consume. The empire is now leaving the third Aeon of Ruins and is now moving on toward a new age, in the past three hundred years the empire moved out into space, conquering planets in the name of the angel Azura. Azura is the leader of the angles and the closest thing to a god in the religion of the empire. In the past one hundred years, the past three ages, a disease showed up, killing billions. No one knows where it came from only that it had a fatality rating of one hundred percent. It takes months for someone stricken with the disease, known as the PT102, better known as the Plague. There are still hundreds who have the plague but even seine the scientists of the empire created a vaccine no one new can become infected. Now, the empire slowly returning to normal, a new darkness is approaching. This darkness will be far more deadly than the Plague was, it has been delivered straight from the gates of hell. Not even the most powerful angles can stop this threat, it is up to the empire's most powerful warriors to save it. They are called the Guardians of Azura, they are taken from the parents at birth and trained to fight. If they fail at any part of the training they are killed, only the best of the best are allowed through. Only five out of fifty make it all the way through training. They are the last hope for the empire in this dark time, the last defenses from the forces of the darkness which is soon to befall the empire. No one has any idea what is soon to meet them, the evils they will face, the terrors they will see, and most of all the beasts they will fight. But even as this darkness approaches the farthest empire planet, the Guardians are on the move, the first to know of the darkness straight from the head priests. Soon the best of the best from the empire will clash with this great darkness. Our story begins with a young Guardian named Kazgor. He has just passed the training, along with his best friends Kelly and Jacob. Kazgor is different from most Guardians, most of the Guardians are human but Kazgor is a anthro. The anthros were first found on a planet in what is not called system thirty five. They accepted the empire's rule and religion. Now, enough with the intro let get to the story, I will be here to help you along the way, helping you understand something's and such. Until the next time I get to speak.

Kazgor is a six and a half foot tall anthro fox. His fur is light orange with red streaks in them, his tail though is blood red. He is covered in scares from the Guardian training but he is very strong, that is visible even through his fur. Next to him stands a five foot nine human female known as Kelly. Her hair is copper and her eyes deep blue. She has a long scare on her left arm, running from her shoulder down to her wrist. Next to her stands a man, Jacob, six foot three. His hair is dirty blond and his eyes are pitch black. He too has many scars on his body, his most telling scare is over his right eye. It goes from his temple to the bridge of his nose. Next to them stand the rest of their class, thirty seven humans and three anthros counting Kazgor Kelly and Jacob. They are all that remain from the starting class of twenty five hundred. They are the newest Guardians, the best of the empire and they are to uphold the laws and religion of the empire at all costs.

"This is your greatest day, when you go from trainee to Guardian. You will serve Azura and his angles with the best of your ability. I want you to meet your new leader, Blake. He is a priest, not form the counsel but from the warriors guild. You will not question his orders you will only follow them out. You will stay in your squads, but report only to Blake, his orders come first then other orders. Do you understand me?" A man standing atop a ten fifteen foot tall tower said.

"Yes sir, High priest Link sir!" The fifty men and woman said in unison.

"Good, now we have word of a new darkness, one far greater than that of the Plague. Blake will inform you of the rest." Link said.

"Good morning my new Guardians. As you may know there have been rumors going around that we have lost the planet Aldor, these rumors are true. A great darkness, a test from Azura himself, have showed up on our door step. It has broken a door and already killed millions. A group of Guardians were sent to dispose of the threat, we lost contact with them after three days. We are now forming the best armies we can, the Guardians will be leading us into battle. But we have a different mission, we are to go to Aldor and seek out what happened. Any questions?" Blake said. Blake is a six foot three human, his hair is long and brown. He has little scares unlike most warriors the Guardians knew of. But he was a Priest and they were never on the front lines. After a moment when no one spoke up Blake continued. "Ok, we ship out tomorrow, get your gear ready and be at dock three at oh-four-hundred."

"Yes sir, priest Blake sir." They all yelled then turned and ran off toward their barracks.

Kazgor Kelly and Jacob all ran into their small barracks, all the teams had their own barracks. Without a word they began to pack everything they needed. They packed their weapons, Kazgor packed a standard assault rifle a standard long sword and a shotgun, he was the close quarters expert. Kelly got a standard pistol and short sword along with her sniper rifle, she being the sniper. Jacob grabbed an assault rifle, short sword and SAW, he being the support. They finished packing and put the gun cases down under their bunks. All three of them sat down on their beds and looked from one another.

"Looks as if we have a fight ahead of us in the next week or so." Kelly said in her stern but soft voice.

"I would say so, it would be best if we are ready for it but seeing how there is little to no Intel on this new 'darkness' we will be going in blind into one of our own colonies." Kazgor said in his deep voice, to some he seemed like a demon. A deep voice, fur which made some think of fire, and a tail of blood.

"Well as our leader, it is your job to make sure we get our jobs done." Kelly said with a small smirk. It was a good thing to know that even after their life of training they could keep some humor.

"And as the support I am the one who will kill as many of these son of bitches as I can. They took a colony form us which was given to us by Azura himself." Jacob said in his soft voice, for such a small man he was very caring but also ruthless in a fight.

"I will make sure you get your chance Jacob. Now, seeing how we have been going through final testing for the past week and have not gotten much sleep, I say we sleep the most we can until it is time to ship out." Kazgor said. Final testing was a phase of the Guarding training in which they go through a series of tests that push both their physical and mental abilities.

"I agree, catch some shut eye then catch some enemy in my scopes." Kelly said. "Night you two, don't kill anything while I'm out."

"No promises." Kazgor said with a small chuckle.

With that they all laid down on their bunks as one, pulling the covers over them and after just moments they fell asleep. The past week had taken its toll on the Guardians, many tests which made them alert. The same could be said about their training. The fought since they could walk, and went over military tactics and team work since they could understand it. The Guardians were in for one hell of a fight.

Hello, I'm back to tell you more while Kazgor and his team sleeps. First off, I am Balagor the guardian angel for Kazgor. And yes everyone gets their own angel that guards over them, but we are only allowed to help A three times in their life and B only if they believe in us. I am an angle of peace, ironic that my sole that I have to guard is one destined for war. I will guide him the best I can through these coming days. First he will have to go to the planet called Aldor, which means 'Son of Azura'. There he will fight the darkness and, hopefully, win. Kazgor is destined for greatness, but that will change if he dies before he can become what he is meant to be. But I am getting ahead of myself again, back to the story with you.

Kazgor woke, as if a alarm clock had gone off in his head, just at 2:50 A.M. Ten minutes before he needed to be awake, he always woke up earlier than he needed, ever since he could remember. He swung his legs off the bed and slowly stood up, stretching out all the mussels in his body reading himself for the fights ahead of him. He grabbed a towel from his closet and walked to the showers that were only for his team. He walked in, there were three shower heads in a smallish box room. He walked over to the on the right, pulled off his cloths and laid them on a rack next to the entrance along with his towel. He turned on the cold water and shivered slightly as the cold water hit him. He picked up the bottle of 'special' soap, it was made for the anthros because of all their fur. He rubbed the soap all over his body getting himself clean. He had just began to rinse himself off when Kelly walked in. She nodded at him then went to her own shower spot and began to undress. Kazgor couldn't help himself but to watch Kelly undress, he had almost always had a crush on her, ever since he was nine when they were first put on the same team. He watched her, making it so that it looked as if he were not, he looked over the curves of her perfect build from the years of training. Too bad us anthros can't get with the humans he thought to himself. She turned the water on, he could tell it was hot from the steam that came off of the cold ground. He felt his member start to come out of his sheath so he turned around and stopped watching her and just let the cold water run over his body.

"Hey guys, couldn't wait and wake me up eh?" Jacob said as he walked into the shower room.

"I wouldn't want to disturbed your beauty sleep." Kelly said.

"Yeah, looks like you could use some more Kel." Jacob said.

"Shut your mouth Jacob before I have to shut it for you." Kelly said.

"Shut it both of you." I said. "Now get washed up and get ready to move out at oh-four-hundred."

"Yes sir, Captain Kazgor sir." Kelly said in a mocking tone.

"Just do as I say." Kazgor replied with a sigh.

Kazgor walked out of the showers, leaving Jacob and Kelly to themselves. He walked back into their barracks, and pulled on his uniform bottoms, leaving the top on his bunk. It was all he had to wear until he got his battle armor later today. He heard Kelly walk in behind him and he turned. She was still nude and had her cloths hanging from her arm.

"You know, Kel." Kazgor started watching her enter the room. "You really need to take my command seriously."

"Kazgor, you know I do." She said laying her clothes down on her bunk and picking up her clean uniform. "It's only when it's just you and Jacob that I act that way, you know that."

"Yeah, I guess so." Kazgor said, he could feel himself getting a boner from looking at Kelly's nude body so he sat on his bunk and looked at the ground.

"You guess so? We have only known each other for eleven years."She said as she pulled on her pants.

"Well, yeah I know what you mean." He said still looking at the ground.

"Well, you better get used to me, you're stuck with me for life now that your our commander." She said sitting down next to him, still half nude.

"That is true, as long as you or I don't end up dead." Kazgor said, putting his right leg up over his left to hide his boner.

"Well I'm not planning to die anything soon." She said.

"Well then I guess it's up to me to die then." Kazgor said with a small chuckle.

"Well, bye the looks of it." Kelly started as he rubbed his abs."You are not going to die anytime soon."

"I guess we will see." Kazgor said feeling somewhat uncomfortable.

"You sound nervous, are you ok?" Kelly asked.

"I'm just fin-" Kazgor started.

"Ok sons of bitches, I'm back." Jacob said as he walked into the room. "Did you miss me? Good."

"Yes of cores we missed you Jacob, who could go without your smart ass mouth for ten minutes?" Kelly said standing up. She grabbed her shirt and pulled it on.

"Well, I think I will head on to the ship." Kazgor said putting his shirt on and smoothing it out making sure everything was in place. "Get their as soon as you can, don't want to be late to the party on Aldor."

With that Kazgor stood up, holding his case in his right hand, and walked off toward the landing zones, about two miles away. It took him only fifty minuets to get there, would have been faster if it were not for all the other people walking around. The ship was a Z-349 Saber class frigate, around three hundred meters long and had ten Phoenix missile launchers, each with twenty five hundred pound missiles in them. It is also equipped with fifty 120mm. auto cannons and one ship to ship cannon. Kazgor entered threw one of the airlocks on the starboard side. He entered into one of the ships two cargo bays, it was full of three LRV's, a Shade class drop ship, and ever a Dreadnaught class tank. He walked up to one of the navy crewmen, he saw that they were Defenders, the navy equivalent to the Guardians.

"Where do are the Guardian's bunks?" Kazgor asked the man.

"Down the main hall, threw the other hanger, enter the elevator there, go up to deck five, and look for your teams number." The man said.

"Thank you sir." Kazgor said and started on his way.

He walked up to one of the doors, a beam of light ran over his body to make sure he was one of the crew or passengers and then the door slid open. He walked through it and it closed behind him. He then walked through the second hanger which opened up to the left. In there were anther drop ship and a bunch of supply crates. There were also a bunch of Defenders doing stuff in that cargo hold. Kazgor wondered if the whole ship was crewed by the Defenders. He walked up to the elevator, the same light came out and scanned his body, the door opened and he stepped in. He pressed a button for deck five and the elevator jumped to life taking him up through the guts of the ship. There was a ding, the elevator stopped and the doors opened. Kazgor stepped off the elevator and the doors closed behind him, he then walked down the hall looking for the room numbered four four seven. He found it just down the hall, walked up to and let the ship scan him then went in as the doors opened up. He sat his gear down on the bunk he was claiming, the middle of the three wall bunks. He then turned and sat at the small table, pulling out the small book called 'War tactics". He began to read it, waiting on the rest of his team to arrive.

It was about 4:15 A.M when his team finally showed up. Both Kelly and Jacob walked in at the same time, both careering their gear. Kazgor put up his book and turned to them.

"What took you so long?" He asked them.

"Security on this dam ship." Jacob said. "I call top!"

"Yeah, every door we were stopped to get scanned, took a long time with all the people that were coming through. " Kelly said as she put her stuff on the bottom bunk.

"Well anyways, we should be launching soo-" Kazgor started.

"This is Defender Captain Luke speaking." Someone over the intercom said. "Everyone, stay in your rooms we are about to launch in a few moments, it would be best if you laid down in your bunks."

"Ok, you heard the captain, get in your bunks and hold onto your asses." Kazgor said as he slid into his bunk.

It was a tight fit, his muzzle is almost touching the bottom of the top bunk. He watched a Jacob climbed up and slid into his bunk and then as Kelly slid into the bottom one. A few moments later he felt the ship start to shake as the lift off thrusters came online. A minute later he felt the ship shoot forward as it reached an optimal altitude to start their accent. He then felt the ship start to shake more, much more, violently as it started to pass through the atmosphere of the planet. The planet was called Naaloth, it is home to the Guardians. The ships slowly started to calm down then all at once stopped shaking.

"Well, that was fun." Jacob said from his bunk.

"Please remain where you are until we are in Phase space." The captain said.

"Great, more waiting." Kelly said.

"Stop your bitching." Jacob said.

"Don't make me come up there." Kelly replied.

"Could you two try to get along?" Kazgor said. "I know Jacob was just put on the team two years ago but what can you do?"

"I know, Kazgor, I just miss Ash." Kelly said with a sigh.

"As do I but that won't bring him back now will it?" Kazgor replied softly.

"No, No it will not sir."

"All this drama bull shit." Jacob said, mostly to himself.

"Stow it Guardian." Kazgor said, almost a yell.

"Yes sir." Jacob said mockingly.

"You better respect me, I am your supe-"Kazgor started when the ship lurched, and jumped into Phase space causing him to slide and hit his head on the side of the bunk, knocking him out.

So far Kazgor is not showing much promise to becoming great. I know. During this story you will only see me once but you will get to hear from me plenty. I, as I said before, can only help Kazgor and his team out so much. This will be the last time you hear from me in a while so next time it is me talking I will place a *** in front of it. Now before I allow you to continue Kazgor's story I must say something. Kazgor, if you cannot tell already, is quiet in love with Kelly. But the humans have deemed anthros unfit to be with a human in any form other than a friend. They believe this is Azura's will but this is not true, humans tend to take our signs for something they are not. We have been trying to fix this for many years now but it does not seem that it will be easy. I must go now, my time is short, Azura is making the angles prepare for the coming Darkness that he set out on the universe, he cannot defeat it only the Guardians can, this will prove that they are strong enough to deserve our religion. Until next time.

Kazgor woke to a thud, when he opened his eyes he was laying on his side on the floor of the small cabin room. He winced as a sharp pain went through his side then he banished the feeling from his mind. He slowly got to his knees and saw Kelly kneel down next to him.

"Are you ok?" She asked him.

"I'm fine, what the hell happened?" Kazgor asked in return.

"Well, let start with this, You were K.Oed when the ship jumped into Phase space, then we were called up to meet with Blake, which you missed." Jacob said. "And now we have a shitty ass job, we get to go in first. Just now, I pulled you fox ass out of your bunk to wake you up."

"Dimmit, Jacob next time you do that I will demote you." Kazgor said slowly getting to his feet. "And at least with the recon job you will get first hit on the baddies."

"Good point, now get ready we leave in an hour." Jacob said has he grabbed his pack and walked out the door.

"What's his problem?" Kazgor asked, looking at Kelly.

"Nothing....I mean, I don't know." She stammered. "Let's just get ready."

"Uh, right." Kazgor said turning around to his bunk.

He pulled his pack out from a small slit under the bed of his bunk. He opened the metal case and looked over his weapons. He still needed the combat armor, but that should be given in the next few minutes. He closed the heavy metal lid and locked it in place. He made sure his uniform was right and that everything on it was in place. He then turned to say something to Kelly. He was not ready for what happened, Kelly was already standing right behind him. She grabbed his shirt and pulled him down, kissing him. He kissed back, the kiss held for a few moments then Kelly pulled back breaking it.

"W-what was that for?" Kazgor stammered, blushing.

"I have seen you watching me, I know you have feelings for me." Kelly said with a grin.

"I-I uh" He said, not knowing what to say.

"You are so cute when you are nervous, now come on we don't want to be late now do we lover boy?" She said and opened the door.

"N-no I guess not." He said following her, case in hand.

"And remember, this never happened." She said walking down the hall.

"I-I know." Kazgor said following her.

They walked out into the hall, to the elevator and took it back down to the cargo level. Kazgor followed Kelly as she walked into cargo bay one, the one with all the supply crates. She walked around the corner of what looked like a small building, when Kazgor followed her around it he saw that it was an armor supply and equip station. Jacob stood there, already in his heavy battle armor. Kelly went into the station and moments later came out in her light battle armor. Kazgor walked in. As soon as he stepped in a light scanned his body then the station went to work placing all the parts of the armor on him. He had the special CQC armor. A helmet made to fit his head and over his muzzle came out of a slot and he grabbed it walking out of the station, now dressed in his battle armor.

"Ok, five min till we exit phase space, I will be your drop ship pilot, the names Baron." A man standing near the drop ship. "Now, I will get my drop ship out."

The man pressed a few buttons on a pad next to the drop ship and it lowered into the floor, some machinery can be heard moving the drop ship away then moving another one to the spot. A new drop ship, a type J-17 Shade class, it was fast, powerful but best of all sneaky. The thing was pitch black other than the war stripes painted onto the sides. The six forward 50mm auto cannons made the ship look like a beast from hell, the four missile launchers, two under both wings, made it look even more terrifying. The rear ramp lowered and the Baron stepped inside. Jacob followed him then Kelly, and after a moment more of looking over the ship Kazgor walked in as well.

"Ok, it is going to be one hell of a ride, so sit down and strap in." Baron said as he sat at the pilot's chair at the front of the ship.

Kazgor took a seat next to Kelly, Jacob sitting in front of them, and buckled in. He held onto the straps that held him down onto the seat. The ship started to shake some, then all at once the ship jolted to a stop as the frigate left phase space. The drop ship lifted off the ground and shot out of the bay, the passenger cabin of the ship shook violently as it entered Aldor's atmosphere. They were going to touch down near the planet's capitol, Aldor city, and make sure the area was clear for the rest of the Guardians to come in, there were going to be five hundred Guardians coming in and setting up 'Alpha base' in the city's square, a one mile by one mile flat concrete area in front of the capitol building.

"Hold on, we have some kind of interference." Barons said over the ships intercom. "Wait, HOLD ON! Incoming! Brace for impact."

The ship shook again and started to flip end over end toward the ground. Kazgor could see Baron trying his best to regain control of his ship to no avail. The ship continued toward the ground, Kazgor could see outside the window, saw in glimpses that the ground was moving up to greet them much faster than it should be. There was a ear popping nose the darkness as the ship crashed into the ground, bounced once then came to rest on its side.

_

_

Kazgor woke to a alarm bleeping and a searing pain in his leg. He looked up, the alarm was coming from the drop ship, or what was left of it. It lay on its side, fifteen meters away from him, he must have been launched from the ship in the crash. The pain was coming from a large dent in his armor which was cutting off blood flow to his leg. He reached down and lessened the straps and blots that held the leg piece on and he felt a wave of relief as the blood could once again flow freely. He slowly, very slowly, stood up looking around where he was. The area no longer looked like a planet but a waste land. Visibility was only around half a mile, fog like dust was everywhere and the ground which had once been green and alive was nothing but dirt, dead and barren. Kazgor slowly made his way over to the downed drop ship and pulled the ramp open. He gazed inside, what had once been a nice drop ship was now nothing more than a hunk of dead weight. He saw Kelly and Jacob, Baron was nowhere to been seen. Kazgor lowered himself into the drop ship and looked at his two team mates. The both seemed fine just unconscious. With great care he picked up Kelly and moved her out of the drop ship, laying her down next to its dead hulk. He then climbed back in and grabbed Jacob, being careful but not as much so as he had been with Kelly. He laid Jacob next to Kelly and climbed back in one last time to get all of their gear he could. He grabbed all three of their cases which had made it through the crash, Jacob and Kelly's helmets had made it but Kazgor's helm's muzzle slot was bent in, making it imposable for him to use it. He threw the gear out of the ramp door way and then climbed out. He jumped down and sat, leaning his back on the drop ship.

"Wh-What the hell happened?"Jacob said as he began to rise off the ground.

"We were hit by something then crashed. I landed about twenty meters that way and came over here and saved your asses." Kazgor said.

"Uh, for all its worth, thanks." Jacob said as he slowly sat up.

"Are you hurt?"

"Don't think so, just sore as hell. How did we not blow up form that crash?"

"I, I have no idea. I think I head the forward thrusters come on at the last second and that could have slowed us down, but I have no idea."

"What about Baron?"

"Not in the ship, must have flown out like me, but I did not see him anywhere near by."

"Damn, what happened?" Kelly said as she woke up.

"Why can't you two ever wake up at the same time?" Kazgor asked. "The ship crashed, pilot is missing and we are on what is left of Aldor."

"Son of a bitch, my back." Kelly said sitting up.

"What is wrong with it?" Kazgor asked.

"I don't know, just hurts." Kelly said rubbing her back. "I think it's just sore, not hurt."

"If you say so, if it starts to bother you let me know."

"Will do."

"Ok, we have a mission to do even though we have no way off this rock ATM, so lock and load and get ready to move into the city." Kazgor said standing.

"Yes sir." Both Kelly and Jacob said as they stood.

Kazgor slowly stood, wincing from a pain in his leg, and walked over to where his case had landed. He kneeled down and opened it reveling all of his weapons, unaffected by the crash. He grabbed the long sword and placed it in a sheath that hung on his leg, shouldered the shotgun, letting it hand off his back by its strap, and held the rifle in hand. He stood back up and turned to Kelly and Jacob. They stood next to each other looking at him, he knew that he was their only way out.

"Ok, the city was North of here." Jacob said as he looked around. He pointed. "And that's North."

"Ok, team let's get moving." Kazgor said as he started to walk. "I wonder how far off we landed."

"About three miles north of the LZ." Kelly said.

"How do you" Kazgor started.

"Because I can see the city up ahead in the clouds." She replied before he could finish.

"Oh, I see." Kazgor said trying to see the city.

"What the hell happened to this place? It's so barren." Jacob said.

"It's a desert planet, AKA barren....dumbass." Kelly said.

"You two cut it out, that's an order." Kazgor yelled back to them.

The walk took a little over an hour, they were ahead of schedule, they were not supposed to arrive in the city for another hour at least. Now it's just a small ten minute walk to the city square. That's when they first heard them. It was a screech, followed by many more. Even though dread filled the air, the team continued to walk forward. around five minutes later is when they first saw them, The Darkness. The things were bipedal, pitch black skin all over, four eyes that literally glowed and the eyes were not human like they were pure blood red, no white or black just red. They were between five and six foot tall, almost seemed human. There was a ground of them, over fifty of them, they all turned and looked at the team of three as one. They opened their mouths and roared, their mouths had rows of sharp teeth, so white they almost glowed. One raised its arms up and from its forearm, or at least where a forearm would be on a human, grew a giant blade at least three feet long. The rest did the same, then all at once they charged, howling as they came towards the team.

"Oh shit!" Jacob yelled.

"Aim, but hold your fire Jacob, Kelly snipe some of them, see if they die like a human can." Kazgor ordered as he leveled his rifle at the charging wave of blackness. "Hold!"

"I'm holding dammit but they are not1" Jacob yelled.

"Wait." Kazgor said as twin cracks can be heard from Kelly's sniper rifle. When the creatures were around fifty meters he yelled. "Open fire!"

The assault rifle in Kazgor's hands shook as it spat bullets at the charging wave. They fell under the hail of fire from both Kazgor and Jacob but there were just too many. Kazgor pulled out his long sword and charged into the wave. One of the beasts fell to the blade, it sliced right through its skin. Another fell before the long sword. One of them took a stab at Kazgor but its head blew to pieces from a sniper round. Kazgor swung again, taking off one of their heads, another swing and another dead. There were, by now, only three left. I swing of Kazgor's long sword took one, Kelly's sniper took another. The last on the other hand was able to get a clean hit on Kazgor, stabbing into the arm of his armor, and stabbing into his arm. He let out a small yell and slashed threw the opposing creature, cutting it clean in half.

"Kazgor, are you ok man?" Jacob said running up to Kazgor, placing his gun on the ground.

"I'm fine, just a scratch." Kazgor said pulling the claw out of his armor, the tip of the claw was covered in blood.

"Even though we need to clean it." Jacob replied.

"No, we finish the mission then get the medics to take a look at it." Kazgor said, wincing a bit.

"But sir." Jacob started.

"That's an order Guardian." Kazgor said.

"Ye-Yes sir." Jacob stammered.

"Let's get moving." Kazgor said as he sheathed his sword and began to walk toward the center of the city where the city square is located.

"We're right behind you sir." Kelly said from behind him.

The rest of the walk went without problems, the walk was only five more minutes, the square was not in the direct center but near the southern edge. Kazgor looked at the one square mile sized clearing, soon it would be a war zone. In the center will be the HQ, a three story building that will be deployed by the frigate along with a armory, five hundred Guardians, four or five tanks, and two dozen LRV's. Also in the deployment there will be four Stampede class drop ships, made for quick drops, in and out kind of ship.

"Kelly, mark out the spot for the HQ, in the center most part of the square. just lay out two beacons." Kazgor said. "We will keep watch.

Kazgor and Jacob stood near the center of the square, about a hundred meters from where Kelly was setting up the beacons. Kazgor looked around the opening, it did not seem like the best place to try and defend, he counted seven entrances. well seven major entrances, all the smaller ones would be hard to count. The larger ones, streets, would still be hard to defend, even with five hundred men and enough supplies to level the city. Kazgor looked over at Kelly, she had whistled, she gave him a thumbs up signaling that the beacons were set. Kazgor pulled out a small trigger and pressed the button to activate the beacons. Now they just had to wait. Ten minutes passed before it showed up. The three story building fell out of the sky, when it was about a thousand meters up it activated its shoots and bottom thrusters. By this time the team had gotten far away from the LZ and were watching the HQ land. The HQ took another two minutes to land after it came into view, it hit the ground with a loud thud. The HQ would be empty as entry into the atmosphere would be too great for anyone to survive. Kazgor Kelly and Jacob all walked up to the structure and stood waiting for the drop ships to land. The first of the four drop ships landed, each carrying 61 men, almost half of the five hundred. Along with the men each one had a LRV strapped to the bottom of the ship. They landed forming a square around the ship and unloaded all the men, it took less than a minute then they were back into the air heading up for the next group. The men on the ground went straight to work, the first group consisted of only units with defense missions, the next drop would have the command unit, the attack unit, and the last of the defense unit.

Kazgor watched the other Guardians moving to their positions, already setting up road blocks on the streets. Command must want the area secure before they got here, setting up road blocks at all the seven streets, they must be planning to stay here quiet a long time. The drop ships broke through the clouds and lowered onto the square, the rest of the company unloaded along with two of the tanks and two more LRV's. Then a supply ship broke through the clouds, the supply ships were not ships that frigates carried, they were almost as long as the ship they had came in on, the supply ship landed in the square next to the HQ. Men and women, engineers, started to pull supply creates out of the ship along with driving out 4 tanks and eighteen LRVs. It had took the last of the vehicles off the frigate and brought them down to the ground, along with hundreds of supply creates. The engineers finished unloading and the ship took off again, leaving a few of the engineers behind. More bodies for the Guardians to have to defend, great. The highest ranking Guardian walked over to the three story HQ, on either side of him were Guardians. As he walked up Kazgor Kelly and Jacob all saluted as one. The Guardian returned the salute then walked inside. One of the guards walked up to Kazgor.

"Sir, you are to report for debriefing in ten minutes, your team is to come as well." The Guardian said.

"Under stood, we will be there." Kazgor said to the man."Ok you two, you heard what the man said we have a debriefing in ten. Make sure to be on your best behavior."

"Yes sir." Jacob said in an annoyed tone.

As one the step into the HQ building, on the inside the walls are littered with monitors and there are tables all over the room, each displaying tactical data on the area. The command offices and debriefing area were up stairs. After climbing a flight of stairs and waiting ten minutes they were called into the room, then after another ten or fifteen minutes the high ranking Guardian walked in. Kazgor Kelly and Jacob all stood and saluted, the Guardian returned the salute then took a seat in front of the others. They took their seat.

"First of all, what happened during entry of the atmosphere of Aldor?" The Guardian asked.

"Sir, we do not know, the pilot yelled incoming, then we crashed." Kazgor said.

"And where is this pilot?" The Guardian asked.

"When I woke, he was not there, and I was the first to wake."

"Ok, when you entered the city, what was it that you encountered?"

"I...I have no idea sir, but whatever it was it is dangerous. One of them were able to stab into my armor."

"I can see, we will have to get that patched up, in the mean time I want you to go to the medical wing of the HQ and get your arm patched up and make sure you and your team are ok."

"Sir, yes sir." Kazgor said.

"You are dismissed Kazgor, your team will remain to answer some questions, first Jacob. Kelly you may wait outside." The Guardian said.

"Yes sir." Kazgor and Kelly said as they stood and walked out of the room.

"What do you think is going on?"Kelly asked Kazgor.

"I have no clue, but if I did you know I would let you know." Kazgor replied.

"I know, I guess you need to be heading to the medical wing, I will meet you there when he gets done with me." Kelly said sitting next to the debriefing room.

Kazgor nodded to Kelly then walked down the hall and up another flight of stairs. The medical wing was on the top of the HQ in the center of the building, on the edges of the third story were machinegun positions. He walked into the medical wing and was greeted by some Defender medics, they moved him into a room, made him strip his armor and uniform and put on one of the medical aprons. They did several tests on him to make sure he was ok, and was not injured to bad. They patched up his stab wound, it was nothing to bad and need no more than some cleaning and dressing to keep it in order. His leg was another thing, the presser his armor had put on his leg while he was out had damaged some muscle tissue and they were going to have to put him in the regeneration unit, a small tube just large enough for him to enter. He would be out cold, literally seeing how it froze parts of him while it healed the damaged tissue, for around three hours. But this would make is so that he would not be out because of surgery or anything like that which would keep him out for a few days at the least. Kazgor slowly climbed into the chamber, the lid sliding closed over his head. He felt a chill for a moment before the drugs kicked in and he slipped into unconsciousness.

*** Hello, I am back to explain a few things that is all. The creatures Kazgor and his team encountered where only infantry in the Darkness, they use numbers not strength to win their battles. Unknown to Kazgor or the Guardians, the city is over flowing with them, same as the planet. The 'smart' forms of the Darkness have yet to show themselves, most likely waiting to get their hands on the ship in orbit. Now, I would love to keep talking but it is time for Kazgor's rise to greatness, or at least the start to it. Until next time.

_

Kazgor opened his eyes, the lid of the regeneration unit he was in opened slowly with a hiss. A technician was standing over him looking at a clip board. When the door completely opened she looked down at Kazgor.

"You are wanted out side, your team is in trouble from what they say." The girl said.

At those words Kazgor jumped into a sitting position, fought out a wave of distortion then stood up. The world spun for a few seconds then came to a stop, a side effect from the freezing. He looked to his left and saw his uniform and armor, he slowly pulled them on. Still a little disoriented, he walked down the tow flights of stairs, almost falling once, and made it outside where a veteran Guardian was waiting for him. Kazgor managed a salute, the Guardian returned it.

"I am Alexis, a High Guardian." The man said.

"A High Guardian, here?" Kazgor asked.

"Yes, I came from the counsel to see if it were true, I am a afraid it is. The Darkness is upon us, the last stage of testing from Azura." Alexis said.

"I never thought I would get to meet a High Guardian, there are only three at a time, and me being nothing but an anthro."Kazgor started.

"Nothing but an anthro? My Guardian, no one is nothing but one thing, even though you may be an anthro and looked down upon by most of us humans, to Azura you are just as us." He said.

"Thank you sir." Kazgor said.

"Now, about your team. Kelly 125.164 and Jacob 125.634 correct?"

"Yes, I have not heard them called by their number in so long, what is wrong?"

"They were sent out on a recon mission, we lost contact with them after an hour, gunshots have been heard from that side of town by our patrols, but they stopped a while ago."

"They sent my men on a mission without me?"

"Yes, they volunteered, the mission was more of a retrieval than recon, they were sent to get an alter of Azura, one of the smaller ones. It is the only one like it and was made from the same metal that Azura gave to the first rulers of the empire."

"I see, I will go get my team and the alter."

"Yes you will, there is a LRV waiting for you along with another squad, I believe it is delta squad from your class."

"I'm on it sir, we will return with the alter or not return at all." Kazgor said then turned and walked off.

Delta squad, James, John and Luke. They were all assault specialist, standard gear. Kazgor walked up to the LRV, a Ghost class light reconnaissance vehicle, as to the name LRV. It has six wheels all evenly spaced apart, a mounted duel chain gun, a mounted passenger machinegun, and forward chain guns mounted in the bumper, one hell of a car. And with space for six people, including the driver. The three men were already getting the vehicle in gear, loading it with ammo for both the mounted and non mounted guns. Kazgor stopped and looked over the car.

"Who is the driver?" Kazgor asked.

"I am, Guardian John reporting." John said jumping down off the LRV.

"Good, I will take the passenger side gun." Kazgor said. "Who is the main gunner?"

"That would be me sir, Guardian Luke reporting." Luke said walking around from behind the vehicle.

"And that leaves me to assist in reloading and keeping those damned things off the car, Guardian James reporting." James said from inside the car.

"Good, how long until we leave?" Kazgor asked.

"Three min, at the latest, go ahead and take your seat sir." John said and went back to work along with the others.

Kazgor walked around to the other side of the car and stepped up and through the passenger side door, taking a seat. The machinegun was mounted on a hinge which allowed it to cover in front of the car and to the right of it, the gunner would have to protect the left and the rear. Kazgor looked at the gun, it was loaded, a thousand shot box clipped to the side. John jumped into the driver's seat and started up the car, the engine rumbling to life, Luke climber into the gunners position and James sat in the open back of the LRV.

"Everyone ready?"John asked.

"Lets get going." Kazgor said.

"Yes sir."

The LRV lurched forward toward one of the seven street blockades, heading north. The car stopped as the makeshift gate slowly opened up. John hit down on the gas and the car lurched forward, out of the safety of the square. They drove forward, it was slow going because of all the empty civilian cars that littered the streets. Soon, after they had gotten about ten miles downtown and after about an hour of driving, they arrived at what looked like a poorly build barricade, made out of cars lined up bumper to bumper fashion all the way across the street. The LRV would not be able to make it over those cars.

"Ok, whose going to go push?" John asked.

"Me and James will, you two keep ready in case anything attacks." Kazgor said.

"Hey I don't like being volunteered for missions, but alright." James said and jumped out of the back of the vehicle.

"Watch our backs." Kazgor said and climbed out of the seat and onto the ground.

Kazgor and James slowly walked over to the line of cars, they were all dented, none of them had any windows, and most of them had blood splatters and stains on them. They would need to move two of them out of the way to be able to fit the LRV through. James vaulted over one of the cars and opened the driver's side door. He shifted it into neutral so that it would roll freely. Kazgor grabbed onto the car's window frame and began to pull it out of the way, with James's help he was able to move it off to the side. James put it into park so that it would not roll anywhere. They walked back into position to move the next car. James had just put the car un neutral when a group of the Darkness creatures appeared down the street and began to charge. Kazgor pulled his assault rifle out and began to fire into the crowd along with the chain gun form the LRV. While they fired James continued to push the car out of the way, getting it next to the other one and putting it in park. But with everyone else busy with the new threat they did not see the new, blue eyed, Darkness come up to James, and stab through his armor and piercing his heart. He let out a muffled grunt as the bone blade passed through his body. The Darkness pulled out the claw and James's body slumped to the ground, dead. Kazgor turned, just in time to see the new Darkness form run off into a building leaving James's dead body lying on the ground. Kazgor turned and ran into the LRV, jumping into the passenger seat and grabbing the machinegun. He pulled the charging lever back and it slapped forward locking a round in the chamber. With that he motioned for John to move the LRV forward.

"What about James?" John yelled over the gunfire.

"He's dead, now move it or we will be too." Kazgor replied.

John nodded, they had all been prepared to lose comrades in battle, but even though it was still hard on someone. Kazgor waited until the creatures were less than fifty meters from the LRV, and opened fire. The high caliber rounds tore through their ranks, cutting down line after line of enemies. Kazgor heard the chain guns in the front of the LRV start to spin, then after a heartbeat they started to spit out bullets like a hose spits out water. After no more than a minute all the Darkness were either dead or immobile. They drove on, the pickup point was still a few miles away.

They came across another group of Darkness, about three hundred in all. Some fire from the LRV's main turret cut them all down in a matter of minutes. After all the Darkness laid dead, they moved forward, now only half a mile away from their target and Kazgor's team. Upon arrival they were greeted with several hundred dead Darkness, and one of the churches of the Empire. They parked right outside the entrance.

"Ok, Luke you stay here, John you are with me." Kazgor said as he stepped out of the LRV>

"Um, are you sure? Maybe Luke should go." John said.

"There needs to be a gunner on there, and you are not the gunner you are the driver, so you are coming with me. Luke if you see anything non human or anthro, blow it away."

"Yes sir." They both said, John a lot quieter than Luke.

Kazgor turned and walked up to the door. He pushed on it, it did not budge. He pulled a small pack of C4 out of his pocket and placed it on the door. He then turned and ran, moving behind the LRV for cover, John at his side.

"Fire in the hole!" Kazgor yelled then pulled the trigger, blowing the C4 and the door to hell.

Kazgor ran up to the still smoking door way, moved to the right side, John on the left and used the hand motion which meant to move in. John nodded and as one they turned and walked into the church, covering all the sides, and checking all the corners for anything that my lay hidden. Kazgor saw it, the alter of Azura, sitting upon a column at the front of the church. He made a hand motion telling John to cover him as he started toward the alter. Step by step he made his way toward the alter when he was grabbed from behind, a pistol pointed at his head.

"Kazgor! Oh thank Azura it's you." Kazgor head the man said.

"Jacob, are you ok?" Kazgor asked, turning around.

"I'm fine, and so is Kelly." Jacob said.

"Great, now we need to hurry up, grab the alter and Kelly so we can get moving." Kazgor said.

"Alright, I'll go get Kelly now, you wait here." Jacob said and ran off down a hall.

Kazgor turned and walked up to the column that the alter stood on. He picked up the alter with extreme carefulness. He pulled out the case he had been given to put it in and opened it. The inside was a perfect match for the shape of the alter, he placed it inside the clipped the case closed and placed the case back on its resting spot, hanging from his armor. Not really knowing why, Kazgor pulled his shotgun from his back and held it in his hands. He heard someone, no two sets of feet walking down the hall, he turned to face them.

Jacob walked up, holding Kelly in front of him arm around her throat and pistol against her head. He walked until he was three meters away from Kazgor and stopped. Kazgor aimed his shotgun at Jacob's head.

"What are you doing Jacob? Put the gun down now!" Kazgor yelled.

"Oh please, ever since I was put into the Guardians I wanted out." Jacob said. "Now I can get out, seeing how this world is over run by the Darkness, I am free at last, and I won't let you take that away from me Kazgor, your kind are a disgrace to Azura."

"Now, you have threatened my men, me and insulted my people Jacob." Kazgor said, a look of hatred in his eyes. "I never liked you before, but now I hate you. I going to have fun killing you."

"Please, try anything and I will blow her head off, and we both know how much you wouldn't like that."

"Ok, ok don't shoot." Kazgor said putting his gun down.

"Good, now your sword." Jacob said

"Ok, I'll do as you say." Kazgor said as he slowly pulled out his sword." I'm just going to put it on the ground....Now Kelly!"

Kelly, who Jacob had somewhat forgotten about, hit Jacob in the stomach with her elbow and jumped out of the way. Kazgor, who was already in a kneeling position, jumped at Jacob sword in hand. The blade plunged into Jacob's armor, through his stomach, and out the back of his armor. He spit up blood which landed on Kazgor's armor.

"I'm not sorry." Kazgor said as he pulled the blade out and placed it back in its sheath.

"Thank you." Kelly said hugging Kazgor, she was stripped of her armor.

"Are you ok Kelly?" Kazgor asked her.

"I'm fine, or at least I will be. Now can we please just get out of here?" She asked him.

"Yes we can." Kazgor said. "John...."

Kazgor turned to look at John, who was nowhere to be found. He motioned Kelly to follow him and the slowly walked outside. Luke was still standing behind the turret of the LRV, looking around.

"Hey Luke, did John walk out here?" Kazgor asked.

"Not that I know of, why?" Luke asked in reply.

"He's not in the church."

"Damn it." Luke said. "Ok lets go, I will drive I know..."

A Darkness jumped up on top of the LRV, the same blue eyed one that killed James. Luke turned just in time for the thing to plunge its claw into Luke's face, going all the way through. Kazgor pulled out his assault rifle and fired but by the time he got the gun out the Darkness was already running off, he missed. Just then someone burst through the church doors, Kazgor turned with the rifle leveled. It was John.

"Damn it John, where were you?" Kazgor asked him.

"I got lost, sorry...Luke, what happened t Luke?" John asked.

"He is dead, now get in I will man the turret, Kelly you get in the passenger seat and man the gun there. " Kazgor said.

"Yes sir." They both replied.

Kazgor climbed into the back of the LRV and pulled Luke's dead body off of the turret mount and laid it gently down on the ground. He then climbed into position behind the turret and checked the ammo counter. It was at three hundred fifty five. Not much ammo left for it he thought to himself. The LRV's engine rumbled to life and John hit the gas, making the vehicle lurched forward and then shot back down the street the way they had came from, back toward the base. Kazgor looked up at the sky, it was a blue-grey color, the star was setting, night was coming. Great he thought to himself, these things are pitch black and here comes night time. The hit little resistance on their way back and Kazgor only had to fire about a hundred rounds from the turret. They rolled up to the gate and it slowly rolled open. They drove through it and parked the LRV next to the rest. Kazgor sat and leaned his back against the railing of the LRV. He was tired, they had only been out for about an hour and a half but all the fighting had done a toll on his already tired body. Kelly climbed back there with him, John got out of the LRV and walked off.

"Looks like we have a few moments of alone time." Kelly said smiling.

"Uh, it looks that way." Kazgor said.

"You know, you didn't really need to kill Jacob back there, you could have let him live. "Kelly said sitting next to Kazgor.

"I know, but he..." Kazgor started.

"He threatened my life, that's what made you kill him." Kelly said.

"Yeah, I guess so." Kazgor said looking up at the sky. "Sunset here is so much better than at home."

"Yes I agree, I like blue much more than red." Kelly said, laying her head on Kazgor's chest. "I think I will take a nap now."

"Go ahead, I'm not going anywhere." Kazgor said putting his arm around Kelly's shoulder.

Kazgor sat there looking up at the sky, Kelly soon fell asleep leaving Kazgor to his thoughts. He was thankful that no one came to bother him about the mission, he guessed that John told them everything. After a few minutes, the sky getting darker and darker, Kazgor fell into a gentle sleep.

_

_

Kazgor woke to someone yelling his name. Kelly was still laying asleep on his chest, the sky was still dark so it was either late at night or early in the morning. Kazgor gently moved Kelly to where she was laying on the floor of the LRV. Kazgor moved over to the edge of the railing and looked toward the person calling his name, it was John he was running over to the LRV.

"Hey Kazgor, get Kelly the High Guardian wants to speak to you two." John said as he stopped in front of the LRV. "Also, now that Jacob died and so did the rest of my team, I'm with you guys now."

"Ok, We'll be there in a minute, I have to wake Kelly." Kazgor said. "Also, how long have we been back?"

"About an hour." John said, and with that he turned around and ran off.

Kazgor turned to Kelly, she was still fast asleep. He grabbed her shoulder and shook it a little, gently. She opened her eyes slowly and looked up at him. This was the first time he had really gotten to see her eyes and think about them. He thought they were beautiful.

"Come on sleepy head, we have to go talk to the High Guardian." Kazgor told her softly.

"Ok, wait there's a High Guardian here?" Kelly said confused.

"Yeah, he came in on that Supply ship that was here I guess." Kazgor said. "Now come on lets go."

Kazgor jumped out of the LRV, and stopped to help Kelly out. Then they made their way around two hundred meters to the HQ. The High Guardian, now in his battle armor which had a golden sheen to it, was standing outside of the HQ building. Kazgor and Kelly walked up to him and saluted. He returned the salute.

"Good to see you two are ok, and I am sorry to hear what happened to Jacob, but I would like to know how he died, John left that out." Alexis said.

"He, well he snapped sir." Kazgor told him. "He put us all in risk so I had to deal with the threat."

"I see, it's a terrible loss. a good man." Alexis said.

"He was sir." Kazgor replied.

"Now for the new mission...Kelly where is your armor?" Alexis asked.

"Jacob took it and that was the last I saw of it." Kelly said.

"I see, we will have to call up to the ship and order a new set for you." Alexis said. "This next mission will be dangerous, I would hate to have to send you out without any armor. Guard, call the ship, tell them Alexis said to send down armor for Kelly 125.164."

"On is sir." One of the four holy Guardians said.

"Good." Alexis said." Now, I wish to tell you two what is going on here. These things we call Darkness are spawns straight from Azura himself. This is our final test, if we pass it we are deemed worthy of inheriting the laws of the universe and the secrets of space travel. We will become to official guardians of the universe and will be more powerful than any other human or anthro empire out there. Even the mighty UPA empire will be forced to do as we say."

"But what if we fail?" John asked walking up from behind. "Tell them the consciences."

"If we fail, the universe is doomed as we know it. Once unleashed the Darkness can't be stopped, not by Azura at least, only by his followers." Alexis said.

"I understand, I will do my best to..."Kazgor started.

"Sir! We need you inside now." The holy Guardian that had went in to get on the radio.

"Why? What's wrong." Alexis asked.

"I'm not sure, just please come in here and listen to this." He said.

"Fine, Fine Kazgor Kelly and John, wait here for me." Alexis said and walked into the HQ along with the four guards.

They stood and watched as Alexis went in. Kazgor turned to Kelly and was about to say something when a laud boom sounded off, echoing throughout the square. The sound came from above them, Kazgor looked up and saw what it had came from. The once orbiting frigate was now plummeting through the atmosphere. The ship bled flames all over its hull and in many parts the hull was missing. It was tumbling out of control, the ship was not meant to enter an atmosphere. From it several pod ejected out and flew toward the ground, some went up back towards space and some went flying out towards other parts of the planet. One really large one, the command pod ejected and, Kazgor guessed by its trajectory, it was going to land just outside of the city in the desert area.

"What the hell? What could take out that ship like that?" John asked.

"I have no idea but whatever it is I do not want to find out." Kazgor said.

They stood there, along with several other Guardians watching the frigate fall. It took only seconds for the ship to plummet from the sky and fall behind the buildings of the downtown area of the city, the command pod flew over the square and landed a few miles off the city. Only moments later they heard another large explosion, this time from behind the city's skyscrapers, a bright light cut through the darkness of night, the ship had crashed into the ground. Kazgor felt someone take his paw, he looked and it was Kelly, she was standing next to him, her hand holding onto his paw.

"That was our only way off this rock." John said. "Now what do we do?"

"We fight, what we were raised to do Guardian." Kazgor said.

"How do we fight whatever brought that down?" John asked.

"I don't know, we call in for reinforcements."

"That ship had the only long range coms, other than the station that orbits the planet, but its probably already done for." Alexis said walking up from behind.

"Doesn't the command pod have some?" Kazgor asked.

"Yes but, wait did it launch?" Alexis asked.

"Yes it landed outside of the city, to the south." Kazgor replied. He felt Kelly let go of his paw as Alexis walked up.

"Ok, we have to go get it. Guard muster Alpha platoon tell them to take four LRV's and recover any and all that they can from the command pod." Alexis said to the guard behind him, the guard ran off to do what he asked.

"Sir, my team would like to go along as well." Kazgor said, speaking for his team.

"As you wish, take the LRV you took out earlier and refuel and reload it. You will be at the back of the convoy of LRVs." Alexis said, then turned and walked back into the HQ.

"You heard him, let's move." Kazgor said. "Kelly, you can stay here, you have no armor.

"I want to go Kazgor." Kelly said.

"If you wish, John go get the LRV ready." Kazgor said turning to John.

"Yes sir, but if I may say something." John started, Kazgor nodded for him to continue." I would like it if maybe you asked your team if they want to before you say they do."

"Noted, now get to work. ME and Kelly will get the guns for the op." Kazgor said.

Kazgor and Kelly walked toward one of the armories as John went to the LRV. Kazgor stepped inside the armory, the walls were covered in guns, the floor with crates and tables both covered with more guns and ammo. Kazgor still had his Long sword and assault rifle, he just needed another shotgun. He walked over and picked up a shotgun and slug it around his neck letting it hand off his back. Then he grabbed a duffle bag and all the ammo it could carry for both his shotgun and rifle. Kelly was doing the same. Kazgor also grabbed two extra duffle bags, one filled with extra ammo, the other with grandees, C4, a foldable rocket launched and three rockets.

Kazgor then walked over the exit, and was about to open the door when Kelly walked up to him. She stood there looking at him, then after a moment she kissed his cheek.

"Maybe, one day we can be together." Kelly said. "I...I really like you."

"Thanks, I would like that but you know the rules, I'm not worthy of having a human for a mate." Kazgor replied.

"Yes you are, our leaders just can't see it." Kelly replied.

"We need to go now." Kazgor said, looking down at the floor then opening the door and walking out leaving Kelly standing there by herself.

Kazgor walked up to the LRV, John was already sitting in the driver's seat waiting on them. Kazgor threw the bags he had into the back of the LRV and then jumped up into the back. He got on the turret and looked at the ammo counter, five thousand rounds. Kelly walked up a few moments later and clambered into the passenger side seat. Kazgor thought he saw what looked like tears in her eyes, but denied the thought. Feelings would only get in the way of the mission he told himself, but really he was just afraid to show his feelings. The LRV lurched forward and moved into position behind the last LRV in the convoy of now five LRVs. The vehicles set out on their journey, slowly at first waiting on the gates to open, then the sped out of the square and toward the landing site of the command pod.

_

_

It only took them around ten minutes to make it out into the desert on the out skirts of the city. Another five and they could see the command pod's lights. They were just minutes away when it happened. Out of nowhere hundreds of Darkness swarmed the road in front and behind them, blocking their way. The convoy was forced to stop, and that's when things went to hell, from both sides of the road Darkness flowed in, too many to count, too many to want to count. All the LRVs in front of Kazgor's had a full company of six, Kazgor's only had three, Kelly himself and John.

As soon as the Darkness had shown themselves from the sides Kazgor had opened fire with the duel barreled chain gun turret, cutting down most of anything that got near the LRV from the left. Kelly and the machinegun mount helped to keep them off their left. But soon they were coming in from behind, the front, all directions. The reinforced windows and walls of the LRV would only last so long.

"This is alpha platoon, we need evac ASAP, under heavy attack, and can't move." One of the Guardians said over the radio.

"Copy that alpha, drop ship inbound, ETA one minute. " Someone from the HQ said.

Kazgor continued to fire into the mobs of Darkness until the ammo counter on the turret reached zero. He dropped the turret and pulled up his assault rifle and fired into them. More and more fell before the convoy's fire, more and more showed up. Kazgor was in the middle of reloading when he noticed that the two huge swarms in front and behind the convoy were moving in, the problem is that they were in the back.

"John! Either move us up or turn us around and fire into that crowd!" Kazgor yelled over the gun fire.

"On it sir, going to be hard though, so many bodies." John yelled back in reply.

Kazgor dropped into the back of the LRV. His ammo for his assault rifle was already at two clips compared to the ten he had on him. He grabbed some clips out of the duffle bag along with three grandees. He popped back up, after just a few seconds the Darkness seemed to have doubled. He primed one of the grandees and threw it into a large group of Darkness, a small smile came to his as the thud of the grandee sounded off. Several Darkness bodies, gnarled from the blast, flew by him and landed on the ground. Kazgor leveled his assault rifle and fired, sending a hail of bullets into the Darkness forms.

Moments later, after three clips of ammo, the drop ship's flood lights were visible, then a second later the roar of the engines was right over Kazgor's head, the large chain gun tore through the Darkness forms, ripping almost all the ones to the LRV's left to shreds, then it moved to the ones behind them. Kazgor stopped firing, the Darkness no long right on top of them gave him a moment to think. He looked forward toward the command pod.

"Hey John, want to go and finish this mission?" Kazgor called down to John.

"Not really sir." John called back.

"Good!" Kazgor said with a small laugh. "Now drive off to the left and up towards the Command pod."

"I said I didn't want to sir, but ok." John said and drove the LRV off the path and towards the command pod.

"You told me to ask, so I did, never said I needed to do what my men told me." Kazgor said with another chuckle.

"Kazgor, what are you doing?" The lead Guardian from alpha said over the radio.

"Finishing the mission, sir." Kazgor said back.

"Fine, hurry up and when you get what you can call for an evac, we'll sent a drop ship to pick you guys up."

"Can do, Kazgor over and out."Kazgor said."Now let's get this shit party started and over with."

"Yes sir." Both Kelly and John said.

It took the LRV only two minutes to get to the command pod, all the external lights were on but there were no signs of life. John parked the LRV and Kazgor jumped out and walked around front. He looked over the command pod, a large oval shaped ejection pod. It was small, only a few square meters.

"You two wait here, I'll be back in a moment." Kazgor said to Kelly and John.

"Yes sir." John said, Kelly did not reply.

Kazgor walked up to the door of the pod, pressed the button to open it and waited. A series of small thuds sounded and the door slid open. Kazgor, assault rifle in hand leveled, walked in. It was pitch black inside, no lights shown other than the lights from outside. He turned on the small flash light connected to his rifle, the one on his armor shoulder and the one on his wrist. As he made his way down the entrance hall way the door to the outside silently closed, making it dark other than the few lights Kazgor had on himself.

Kazgor reached the end of the small hallway and pressed the button to open in, after a moment it slid open. He stepped in, covering the whole room the best he could. It seemed empty, he was in the command room where the controls were, there were only two sections of the pod. like most pods, the command room and passenger room. He walked over to some of the controls, found the one for the power and hit it, the lights streamed on, they allowed him to see he was not alone in the room. Hidden by the shadows of the dark room stood at least thirty Darkness forms.

Kazgor aimed and fired, the first clip took out five of them, he started to reload and realized there was no time as all the Darkness moved as one and charged him. HE grabbed his long sword and swung, the blade went deep into one of the Darkness forms, another swing and another dead. He swung, the blade went in, and got stuck on bone, the sword was ripped from Kazgor's hands as the Darkness form fell to the ground. Kazgor grabbed from his shotgun as the rest of the forms rushed him. He aimed and fired, each shot brought down a Darkness, ten shots. There were still about ten left.

One of the forms stabbed at Kazgor, he grabbed the thing's arm and pulled it in close, making sure the blade missed him. He grabbed it's head and twisted, luckily it died from its neck being snapped. Kazgor then grabbed the thing's claw and ripped it from its resting place, stabbed it into another Darkness form's face and repeated this once more. Now there were only two left. One swung he grabbed the arm and twisted it , shoving the blade into the other form's gut. Kazgor then grabbed the first one's head and twisted, snapping it's neck.

Kazgor was just about to leave when something hit the back of his head, him still not having a helmet allowed the object to hit his head. If it were one of the Darkness's blades he would have been dead on the spot. But instead of the feeling of being taken by his angel he felt the cold grip of unconsciousness.

Kazgor woke to find himself immobile, something was holding him down, his arms and legs. It was dark, so dark he could make out nothing in front of him. After a few moments of just laying there Kazgor tried to move again, when he did this he was greeted with a bright light right over him. Then as his eyes adjusted to the lights he saw he was still in the command pod, strapped down to a chair bolted to the floor. He looked around and saw it, the Darkness with the blue eyes.

"Hello, Guardian." It said.

"What do you want from me?" Kazgor asked.

"Nothing much, but to help me."

"Why would I help you?"

"You are destined to do so. Kazgor."

"What...what do you mean?"

"You will help us in more ways than you think. You are destined for great things, have you not met your angle yet?"

"No, I have not. Guardians are not allowed to meet their angles until twenty five years of age."

"Ah, I see. Looks like you will have to meet yours early."

"What do you.." Kazgor started when the Darkness grabbed his throat and started to choke him.

Kazgor couldn't do anything to stop it, he slipped back into unconsciousness. A few moments later he was woken, but not awake. He was in a place, it was dark but he could see. It was as if here were floating in space, there was nothing there. Then a bright white light shown through the place of which he was in. He saw him, the angle, his angle. It took the form of an anthro fox, it had wings just as angles were thought to have.

"Hello Kazgor, I am Balagor, an angle of peace, and your guardian and helper." The angle said.

"What was the Darkness talking about?" Kazgor asked him.

"You are part of a larger plan, I cannot tell you much but what I can tell you is that you are destined for greatness. When you return you will find yourself no longer in the presence of the Darkness but with Kelly, she has came into the pod to find you. I want you to then go outside and call in for the drop ship, tell them to send a small squad of Guardians with it. Then you must go back into the city, not in the drop ship and not from the south. You must go to the tallest building, it is the military building on the planet. It has what you need. That is all I can tell you."

"How do I talk to you again?"

"When the time is right my child, until then and until next time we meet good luck."

Kazgor felt the dream like state started to fade, Balagor faded from view then the world and Kazgor was just in darkness, then he heard Kelly's voice. He woke to Kelly standing over him, she looked more beautiful to him than she had ever before.

"Come on get up you dumb fox." Kelly said glancing over her shoulder.

"I'm up, what are you doing in here?" Kazgor asked.

"I heard gunshots, then nothing, I had to come in and check and make sure you were ok. John stayed in the LRV."

"Of course he did." Kazgor said standing up. "Let's go, I know what we need to do now."

"Yes sir." Kelly said.

Kazgor nodded to Kelly and was about to walk out, but something told him to do this. He lifted his paw up and used it to lift Kelly's chin. He leaned over and kissed her, softly and broke the kiss and walked off. He walks to the door to the outside and opens it, the LRV was still sitting in the same spot, John was standing outside of it with his assault rifle in his hands. Kazgor walked over to the LRV.

"John hand me the radio, I hope you don't mind another mission, do you?" Kazgor asked him.

"I guess not, I don't have much of a chose do I?" John replied.

"This time, yes you do, I will not force you to join me on this mission." Kazgor said, then turned to Kelly. "That goes for you too, Kelly, I will not make you follow me."

"I will follow you to the end sir." Kelly said, walking past Kazgor and climbing into the LRV.

"And, I will choose to follow you as well Kazgor." John said. "Even though, I may not like it."

"Good, now the radio." Kazgor said.

"Here it is." John said and handed Kazgor a small radio box.

"HQ, this is Kazgor, requesting pick up at the command pod, and send a small group of Guardians, and a medic." Kazgor said over the radio.

"What's the plan?" John asked.

"We are going to the tallest building in the city, and that's all I know for now." Kazgor said.

"Ah, great. And who gave the orders?"

"My angle."

"Wait, what?"

"When that Darkness chocked me out, my angle appeared to me."

"Strange, but I will follow, well drive but the same difference." John said climbing back into the driver's seat of the LRV. "So let's get a move on shall we?"

"Yeah, but go to the eastern most entrance of the city, I believe it is a high way." Kazgor said climbing into the back with Kelly.

John started up the LRV and turned it toward the east, they drove in darkness other than the one headlight that still worked on the LRV. Kazgor looked up at the sky, the clouds had parted and it showed the red nebula that was visible from the planet as well as the uncountable number of stars in the sky, and the planet that was only a few thousand miles away from the one they were on. It was a beautiful sight. Kazgor felt Kelly crawl over to him and sit by his side.

"Kazgor, if I may speak freely." Kelly started.

"Of course you can." Kazgor said.

"When this is all over, we should leave the empire, go to the UPA, there human-anthro relations are legal." Kelly said looking up at Kazgor.

"I....I don't know about that, I'll think about it." Kazgor said looking down at Kelly.

"First, you have to promise not to die, or to let me die." Kelly said.

"I promise, but only to the second one." Kazgor said.

"What do you mean?"

"I will not allow you to die, but myself I do not know."

"I see." Kelly said, her face showed that she was saddened by this.

"Kelly, no matter what happens I want you to be safe." Kazgor said.

Kelly nodded and looked away. Kazgor looked at her for a moment then looked back up at the sky. He thought for a few moments then stood up, holding onto the turret for support. The wind whipped against his fur and tried it's best to throw him from the LRV. In the little light from the stars Kazgor could make out the looming stretcher of the highway ahead of them, only another minute and they would be on it, back into hell known as Aldor city.

"Ok, hold on you two were getting on the highway, get ready I don't know what may lie in wait for us." John yelled back to them.

Kazgor ducked back down and picked up his assault rifle, looking out over the right side of the LRV, Kelly was doing the same over the left side. The LRV drove up the entrance ramp and onto the highway. Kazgor turned on all the lights on his armor and guns so that he could see better. He also turned on the small flood lights on the side of the LRV lighting up everything for about ten meters.

They drove on into the city, they got several miles easily but then found traffic, for miles there were crashed or empty cars, no way of getting through in the LRV, and the road lead right to the building they were looking for. They parked the LRV on the side of the road and got out.

"Ok, looks like a fun hike right?" John said.

"As long as you don't mind your hikes including two miles of car clogged highway and most likely swarming with Darkness." Kelly said.

"Let's just get this over with." Kazgor said.

They began to walk, it was slow going, it took them about an hour to get by the first mile, they had just started on the second mile when they got the first radio transmission from HQ.

"The is High Guardian Alexis, the square has been over run, all units move to fall back positions alpha or beta ASAP. All but one drop ship has already left, three of our five tanks are destroyed, the other two are out and most of the LRVs have made it out. If you have made it out, over half of our numbers are gone, I am going to get onto the last of the drop ships here and head to alpha, this is Alexis, out." Alexis said over the radio. Just before the radio cut off gun fire could be heard in the back ground.

"No, how could this have happened?" John said slumping against a car.

"I don't know, we need to hurry." Kazgor said.

"What about the rest of us?" John asked.

"We will meet up with the survivors later, right now we need to get to that tower."

"Right, Azura protect us." John said then moved forward once again.

"This is foxtrot one twelve, we were sent out to get Kazgor and his team, command do you read? We do not have to locations for the fall back points." A drop ship pilot said over the radio.

"Foxtrot, this is Kazgor, we are going to need a pick up, ETA one hour on top of the tallest building in the city, I want you on standby for when we need that, land nearby and be ready." Kazgor said over the radio.

"Yes sir." The pilot said. "Good luck."

The rest of the walk to the building was mostly in eventful, a few scattered reports sent over the radio of units being pinned down by the Darkness, and a report that the High Guardian had been lost. Kazgor and his team continued on, Kazgor new if he did not do what he needed to do the whole mission that had taken place here would have been for nothing.

"Ok Kazgor, here we are." John said looking up at the tall building before them. "Now what?"

"I don't know, let's head inside." Kazgor said.

"Sounds fine to me." John said.

Luckily there was an entrance to the parking lot of the building from the high way. The building was some sort of military office building. They walked over to a set of elevators and pressed the up button. Nothing happened.

"No power, buildings like this have generators." John said.

"I'll go turn them on." Kazgor said.

"No you two stay here, I want a chance to be the hero for once." John said with a smirk. "Plus who here knows how to work a generator? No one but me, so I'll be back in a few minutes."

"Fine, just be careful." Kazgor said as John walked off into the darkness.

"I will be, don't worry about me." John called back.

Kazgor and Kelly stood alone in the dark room, the only lights came from their guns and Kazgor's armor. They stood in silence for a long time waiting. Kazgor looked over at Kelly, she was looking back out towards the highway.

"Are you ok Kelly?" Kazgor asked.

"I'm fine, are you ok?" She replied.

"I...I don't know to tell you the truth but soon this will all be over." He said putting his hand on her shoulder.

"I hope that you are right, because then we can go and be happy, right?"

"Yes." Kazgor said, unsure of his answer.

A few moments later the lights popped on, and Kazgor heard a humming sound from the elevator. Another moment later the door to the elevator opened with a ding. Kazgor looked inside, making sure there were no Darkness waiting on them.

"Clear." Kazgor said.

"Come on John, hurry up." Kelly said.

"Hey guys, there's another elevator here, I'll take it and meet you up there." John said over the radio.

"Copy that John, watch yourself." Kazgor said. "Ready?"

"As I'll ever be." Kelly said and walked into the elevator.

Kazgor gave one last sweep of the room and then backed into the elevator and watched as the doors slid closed. He looked for the highest number on the pad, he found it, two hundred thirty five. He pressed the button and the elevator started to rise, at the rate it was going it was going to take a few minutes.

"Kazgor, I'm tired, I have not slept since we got onto the ship a few days ago." Kelly said.

"Why not?" Kazgor asked her.

"Because...I'm afraid."

"Afraid of what?"

"I'm afraid because....well I don't really want to say." Kelly said looking down at the ground.

"You can tell me anything Kelly." Kazgor said putting his paw on her shoulder.

"I know....I just don't want to talk about it right now."

"That's fine, I understand." Kazgor said and looked at the control pad. "We're almost there, get ready."

The elevator stopped and the doors slid open with a ding. Kazgor stepped out first, covering both sides with his gun then motioned for Kelly to come out. They were standing in a long hallway on the top floor of the building, it was full of computer screens and displays, all showing different points of the city. One showed the transit station which would take someone to the orbiting space station, one was on some random street, and another was on what the Guardians had called alpha base. One of the drop ships still remained, a couple of LRVs and a few hundred dead Guardians, along with thousands of dead Darkness.

"Damn, one hell of a fight." Kazgor said.

"Yeah, too bad we were not there." Kelly said walking over to the monitors.

"Yeah and if we were there we could be among all those dead bodies." Kazgor said looking around the room. "Now where is John?"

"Guys, I'm in trouble, the Darkness got into the building, don't come for me just get out of here, call the drop ship, I'll hold off these SOBs as long as I can." John said over the radio.

"No, we are not leaving without you John." Kazgor said over the radio.

"Listen, just go I will be fine, I'll meet you up top, I have a little present for the Darkness, now go and call the Drop ship, make sure it's not late." John said, then there come some gunshots over the radio then the radio feed died.

"Ok, you heard him let's move." Kazgor said to Kelly.

Kazgor burst through the door to the roof, he had just got done telling the drop ship to move in to pick them up. He looked around the roof, it was a large square like most roofs, there were some satellites and large machinery on the roof, perfect hiding spots Kazgor thought to himself. He didn't have enough time to check them all, he motioned Kelly to come on through. She came through, scanning the roof as he had.

"Hold on, time to end this party....with a bang." John said over the radio.

There was a loud explosion and the whole building shook as it blew through it. Kazgor moved Kelly out of the way of a large satellite. She was about to say something to him when John burst through the doorway, followed by some Darkness. Kazgor opened fire on them, killing three of the five that came through. Kelly and John finished off the other two with bursts from their guns.

"The drop ship will be here in two minutes." Kazgor told John

"I hope we have two minutes." John said. "Those charges did a number on the superstructure of the building."

"It will hold." Kazgor said.

Kazgor walked over to the entrance to the building and was about to close the door when a group of Darkness flowed out. They grabbed him and threw him to the ground. Kelly and John got off a few shots before they were taken down as well. Kazgor tried to fight them off but there were at least ten of them holding him down.

"Good job my minions." Someone said. "Bring Kazgor to me."

Kazgor felt himself being lifted and moved over to the side of the building. The Darkness forms stood him up and held him in place. The Darkness with the blue eyes stood in front of him.

"Nice to see you again." It said.

"Fuck you." Kazgor spat.

"Now is that a way to treat a direct creation of you god?" It asked.

"What do you mean?"

"Azura himself made me special, to test the will of his son."

"Azura has a"

"Yes he has a son, for twenty years now. The Darkness is a test for the Empire, I am a test for Azura's son, and one of his best angles."

"Then what do you need me for?"

"Are you so foolish?" It said laughing. "You, Kazgor, are"

A bright light shone from above. At first Kazgor thought it was the Drop ship, the blue eyed Darkness looked up at the sky then ran, leaving Kazgor held by the other Darkness forms. The bright light slowly fell down to the roof, Kazgor saw that it was Balagor, his angle.

"Kazgor, I have used one of my three visits to help you now." Balagor said.

The Darkness forms swarmed at Balagor. He drew a sword, it seemed to be made out of pure light, and slashed through five Darkness with one swing. Another swing and another five dead. The rest of the Darkness turned to run, and were cut down by what looked like lighting coming from the end of Balagor's sword.

"Kazgor, I must tell you the next step you must take." Balagor said stepping over to Kazgor.

"I am ready and willing to do anything." Kazgor said.

"I hope so." Balagor said and leaned over and began to whisper in Kazgor's ear. "You must detonate this buildings generators, doing that will destroy this whole planet, the generators are connected to the core of the world, and ever building on the planet is as well. This building's generators are just large enough to make a large enough explosion that will start a chain reaction throughout the planet. "

"I understand, just let me get my team and we will get on it." Kazgor replied

"Your team cannot go, they must leave the planet if they are to live, and they have to leave as soon as the drop ship gets here." Balagor said.

"So, if I do this I will die?" Kazgor asked.

"Sadly, yes it will." Balagor said. "But this is the only way to beat the Darkness."

"I understand, I will do it." Kazgor said.

"Good, now I have to leave, Good luck." Balagor said, then vanished in a brilliant white light.

Kazgor turned to face Kelly and John, they were still on the ground from the Darkness attack. He walked over to them and helped Kelly up. By then he could hear the roar of the drop ship engines. He helped John up and looked at them.

"Ok, when this drop ship gets here, you two jump on and leave the atmosphere." Kazgor said. "I have something I have to do."

"I will not leave you Kazgor." Kelly said.

"And neither will I." John said.

"Listen that was an order, not follow it." Kazgor said with a sigh. "I must be going, it has been great serving with you both."

"Kazgor, please." Kelly pleaded.

"I'm sorry Kelly, I have to do this." Kazgor said, turning around.

Kazgor started to walk back toward the entrance when Kelly ran over and turned him back around. She pulled his head down and kissed him. Kazgor kissed back, John turned and looked the other way. The kiss held for a few seconds, then Kazgor pulled back, breaking the kiss. Kelly looked up into Kazgor's emerald green eyes, her eyes were tearing up. Kazgor smiled at her, then turned and walked away without a word. He saw the flood lights from the drop ship cover the roof just as he went back down into the building.

There was a series of explosions as the building was starting to fall apart. Kazgor grabbed onto a wall when the building lurched to the side, he continued forward walking at an angle. The building was still shaking, it would soon fall apart but luckily the power was still on. Kazgor reached the control room and saw the drop ship rising through the air on one of the screens. He looked around on the consoles, looking for the right panel. He found it, the controls for the generators. There were four extra large fusion generators. Just those going critical could level the whole city, but in this case it would level the whole planet. He keyed in the commands to make the generators got to two hundred percent output. They would go critical in less than five minutes, then explode. He saw the other drop ships rising toward the skies on one of the external camera views. The rest of the guardians must have gotten the message, Kazgor thought to himself.

He turned and was going to head back up to the roof to watch the fireworks from there when he spotted him. How was he alive? It was Jacob, standing in the corner of the room, he had his short sword in hand. Jacob charged at Kazgor before he could react, his short sword stabbed into his shoulder armor, and went into the base of Kazgor's neck. He then pulled the sword down, cutting through Kazgor's left shoulder and out of the armor.

"Next time, Kazgor, you should make sure your kill is dead." Jacob said.

"Why Jacob?" Kazgor said, falling onto his knees.

"Why?" Jacob yelled. "Because I'm tired of being a military lap dog, Kazgor, I'm tired of fighting."

"No, I mean why" Kazgor started, and shot Jacob in the leg with his shotgun." Why didn't you take my gun?"

"Damn you Kazgor!" Jacob yelled and fell onto one knee. "I will kill you!"

"Next time, don't stop to talk." Kazgor said, before blowing Jacob's head off his shoulders. "Never mind there won't be a next time."

Kazgor slumped over onto the floor, his shoulder gushing out blood. Another explosion shook the building, and it began to fall, sending Kazgor sliding toward a window. He grabbed for anything he could but could not get a handhold and fell, hitting the glass and breaking through. He closed his eyes as he started to fall. HE felt something grab him and pull him up. He opened his eyes and saw Kelly and John pulling him into the drop ship. They pulled him in and he felt the ship accelerate towards space, the ground below them shook as if there were an earth quake. The ramp of the drop ship closed just as a blinding white light blew out from under ground. The generators had gone off.

Kazgor looked up at the Guardian taking his armor off, it was the medic he had said to put on the drop ship. Kelly was hanging over him, he just now noticed that she was holding his paw in her hand. He tried to say something but found that he could not so he just lightly squeezed her hand. He laid his head back, and passed out from blood loss just as the medic started to patch him up. He heard Kelly say "Don't die, I love you." just before he passed out. Blackness overtook him.

Epilogue

Aboard the battle ship Azura's Son the High Guardian Alexis stands with the priest in command of the ship. He had gotten off the planet at the last second, getting out with just one of his guards who stood next to him.

"So, High Guardian Alexis, what happened here?" The priest asked Alexis.

"The Darkness, happened." Alexis said.

"Were you able to stop it?" The priest asked.

"I believe so, Kazgor and his team were able to activate and destroy the generators in Aldor city's military base."

"I see, and what happened to this team?"

"They disappeared during the explosion, they are believed to be KIA, but we marked them as MIA."

"Good, so we have passed the test of the Darkness, so it looks as if" The priest started.

"You have not stopped us yet." Something said from behind them, they turned and looked.

"How did you get on this ship?" The priest asked.

"Oh, thanks to Alexis here there were two drop ships at their alpha fall back point, we took the liberty to 'borrow them'." The blue eyed Darkness said.

"We?" Alexis asked.

"Yes we, get them." The blue eyed Darkness said as a few hundred other Darkness forms charged out of the corners of the cargo bay and swarmed over the two men, killing them. "Now, to take the rest of this great battle ship."
