Part 1: A path narrowed

Here we are again in the world of Pokémon, a magnificent place of wonder and fantasy come to life. The region of this tale is the widely known, Russta. This time we follow a young man by the name of Seth Garretson on his journey to be a legendary Pokémon Guardian.

First off let's start off with, a Pokémon Guardian is a person who is completely tuned with the world around them. They only serve the greater good of Pokémon and Man-kind. A Guardian who has proven his or her impact is inducted into the "Garden of Guardians" A sacred place for all those who adorn the Title Guardian, keep the balance between Order and Chaos.

Once a Guardian had proved themselves they adorn an outfit much like an Aura Guardians, for the two share many qualities and aspects. Though one protects the aura of life, as the other protects the balance of life. Now lets watch as Seth's destiny unfolds.

"Why me, The day I turned sixteen was supposed to be joyous, not tedious." Said the young boy.

Seth strolled down the heavily beaten dirt path, in his brand new adepts gear. Since he had yet to prove himself as a Guardian, he wore the Adepts clothing, black baggy denim jeans, very dark grey dress shirt (not tucked in) and white dress jacket flaring out at the base. He was slowly making his way to Eterna City. A very lively metropolis set into a large crater.

Legend says that the crater was formed when the Pokégod Xiao and Pokégoddess Yuva clashed. The origin of their battle has yet to be determined. The legendary Guardian of the sea, Lugia was said to have been modeled from the Pokégoddess, Yuva. While the Legendary Keeper of the Shadows, Seni was thought to have been modeled from Xiao.

Seth had just turned sixteen that afternoon, but already his day was lower than he'd planned. When he had left his birthday party to go see Prof. Jenta, he found out that the three starters had already been picked. He had left the town of Yuvani to go a special place in order to obtain his first Pokémon. He wished he could have got Danta, the Fire bird. Or at least Kenga, the Water lizard. But no, he had to make a two day trip through a nasty old dark forest, without protection to get his Pokémon.

Although he felt relieved to hear that he was going to be surprised at what he would find, he was still upset. He had been traveling for so long that even his arms were tired, not to mention his feet and legs. Good thing for him he brought his moms new invention, "Poké-pack". A special little device that can be set to ten different items, and create it out of thin air. His mom never told him what made it tick, but she gave him a proto-type. Just so it got some field testing.

His eyes were baggy, his cloths were quite matted with the humidity of the wet forest. All in all, he felt like just jumping into a bottomless ravine. Seth gradually found a place in the forest where he wasn't to far from the road, and just close enough to a small pond, for a bath in the morning. Once he got a small fire going, he sat flat on the leafy forest floor and crossed his legs.

Moments after warming up a bit, he reached into and pulled from his pocket, the device and studied it. His mom had designed it to look much like an average wrist watch, though this one had a few more features. He looked it over and then sat it down on his lap as a ringing went off in his backpack. He went searching through it for the source, and came up with his Live Caster. He let it ring for a few minutes before actually answering. It was his mom, and she sounded like she was worried.

"Hun, I know you're a little afraid right now, and that's ok. Just know you'll always have a home to come back too. Also, if you are wondering how to operate the Poké-pack, just twist the dial on top to the desired item, point, and push the top down. A flat, spread out blue light should come out and construct the item. Nifty isn't it.

Your dad, Skitty, and Me all wish you the best of luck.

Oh Diana phoned, I told her what's happened and what your journey is, and she said good luck, and that she will be waiting for you in Jade Lake Town... Click,"

The call went silent and the video screen went black. Seth sighed some, he knew his journey was for the best, but he couldn't help but think about all that he left behind. Slowly the thought faded away and was replaced by some of the buzzing of overhead Yanma. He sighed some more, before strapping the device to his wrist, setting it to "tent" and pushed the top down. Nothing happened, no light, no tent, not even a shudder.

"Thanks mom, that was just..." His spiteful thought started to trail off as the light described by his mom appeared from the front of the device. It was amazing, such a dazzling blue light. It was like watching the moons glow reflect off a Metagross. Slowly, the form of a tent started to take shape. It was a nice sized tent too, one that seemed like you could fit two or three people in there.

Again he had made the mistake of underestimating his moms work. He had done so years ago when his mom asked him to drop by Jenta's lab and give her a proto-type of a portable recovery device, P.R.D. for short. It was supposed to give a Pokémon enough strength, so that the trainer could get it to any Pokémon Center for a full recovery.

But, on his way to the lab, a trainer that was passing through had a poisoned Bagon. The poor thing looked as if it was balancing on the edge of life itself. Seth had asked the trainer if he'd let him try something. At first the trainer was skeptical, but for the sake of his beloved Bagon, he would do anything. Seth asked him to call back Bagon into its Pokéball, the trainer complied and reluctantly handed over his Pokémon. Seth strapped the black, fanny pack shaped device around his waist, opened the side cover and slipped the Pokéball inside.

As soon as the cover was reclosed, the power light came on then shut off. Seth felt very disappointed. Not only with himself for letting down the trainer and wasting precious time, he was also upset that his moms invention didn't work. But, as he was about to open the cover and hand the Pokémon back, the power light came back on and hummed to life. A white light pulsed inside, and could be seen through the slight cracks of where the case and the cover met.

On the inside the Pokémon had its status removed and quarter strength given back. The trainer was so happy, they would have a lot more time to make it to the next Center, which turned out to be a mile down the road. The trainer quickly clipped the ball to the belt roster the gripped her hips nicely. Seth shyly asked for the trainers name. The trainer spoke softly at first, but then took a deep breath and said it aloud.

"M-my name is Diana, what's yours?"

Seth's eyes went wide, he couldn't believe it. He had actually gotten to know a girls name. He blushed deeply a few shades of red before calming down and uttering his name confidently.

"Seth's the name, Pokémon Guardians the game,"

He stood there with his hands on his hips, looking very proud of himself. It wasn't until she said, "Hee he, your cute," that he lost all focus and felt backwards all embarrassed. His smile had faded and was being replaced by a frown.

"Ha, and your funny. Well thank you Seth, you saved my Baggikins, and I can't thank you enough. So if your ever in Jade Lake Town come visit me. My house is the one that's a little out of place."

With that, she bent down, kissed his cheek and ran off towards the center. Again his cheeks were a flush with the color red. His eyes closed, and he envisioned her kissing his cheek over and over again. It wasn't until he felt a Pidgey come flying down and peck at his head that he remembered his current task. His eyes shot open, as the flat of his feet hit the ground at running speed.

Seth sighed as a rain drop in the present shook him out of his daydream, sending him back into his situation. It was beginning to rain, and there was Yanma over head. This couldn't have gotten any worse. He had spoken to soon, as a large gust of wind past through the forest.

He frowned heavily at the wind rustling through his hair, and blowing at his clothing. But somehow, this wind had swept away the rain. Above the treetops, its monstrous wings flapping taking it into new heights, was a marvelous white Pokémon. Blue sharps trailing off it's eyes like little bolts, as blue flaps lined its back in two rows of five. Its heavy looking tail was fierce looking with a separate blade of blue on either side of the tip.

Seth was not knowledgeable with such a god-like being, he only knew he wanted to meet it one day. He stood up and looked up into the clouds above. His hair was jostled with the up roaring wind. The gorgeous creature utterly stopped and hovered high above the trees, its massive wings flapping, causing many trees to creak, even some to fall. The Yanma that were once occupying the air above were now already in hiding. There were Caterpie, Wormies, and Gorlila's running for cover from the massive attacks of gusting wind.

The massive Pokémon above the trees suddenly held its wings straight out and let out its powerful cry. Its powerful jaws opening, revealing two large teeth-like spikes. Its cry echoed out from its large lungs and into the air and forest below. Seth just stared into the sky above, feel immense power course from the skies.

Suddenly from the path several meters away from him sprang to life as footsteps and shouting could be heard.

"Target zero has been located, send in the extraction team to Delta quadrant, location 504 east, 253 south!"

The sound of a reply coming from a radio rained out from the path and spilled into the now almost empty forest.

"Good work Zeta, your capture of Lugia will not go unnoticed with Lord Nage."

Seth spun around when he heard the name blare out from the radio. The name ringing in his ears was one he'd heard before. Suddenly he looked back up into the sky and directly stared at the steadily hovering Pokémon.

"So your name is Lugia... wait, LUGIA!" Seth was shocked by his own words. The legendary Pokémon said to have been modeled from the Goddess Yuva. Seth stammered back a bit, almost tripping over his own feet.

Suddenly Lugia's eyes shot down to meet Seth's. Their eyes becoming intertwined in an eternal glare. This lasted for a few minutes until a sharp thud hit Seth's back knocking him to the ground. Seth tried to push himself back up, off the ground but found himself being held down. He looked over his shoulder to find a Rougi on his back. The large steel type was pinning him to the ground.

Rougi's had a body like a human. It was very human-like in shape and size, though two defining facts separated them. A Rougi's skin was silver in color, and the only features about its face was two shimmering black neon eyes.

This Rougi just had to have been commanded to attack him, was the only thought rummaging around in Seth's head. He tried to get out from underneath the Pokémon's grip but it was futile. Seth looked up into the sky just in time to see Lugia zoom out of sight and 4-5 helicopters give chase to him.

"So, I see we have an uninvited guest with us. What should we do with him Zeta?" An unknown voice spoke up behind where Seth and the Rougi were at.

'So these guys are bad guys... but who are they?' Seth thought to himself, feeling the Rougi shift its weight to make itself comfortable.

"Meh, do what needs to be done Trey..." With that footsteps carried the speak away from the site and down the path further.

"Right away. Now time to say good bye little one... wait, what's with the cloths kid, your not a... Guardian!" Seth smiled at this comment. Apparently this shady character did not know much about guardians, seeing how he just called an adept a guardian.

"Yes, I am. If you do not let me up, I will have to teach you a lesson on not attacking a Guardian." The character did not even move a muscle in recalling his Rougi. Instead he laughed a hefty chuckle.

"I think not, the boss would pay a lot for a Guardian. Your gonna be my ticket to becoming Zeta's boss! Zipher... use Metal slash!" The Rougi, apparently named Zipher raised up one of its hands and it began glowing. A second later it turn into three dazzling, long metal claws. As it swung its arms down at Seth and bright light appeared to the side, and was launched at the Rougi.

The steel type Pokémon was sent flying off of the boy, and into a nearby tree. The man that had stepped up from the path was now quivering in fear, looking to the side of the boy. Not more the 2 meters away from Seth was a Riolu. Paws held straight out and cupped at the end. Its eyes were close and some leaves and twigs around it were hovering slightly off the ground.

Seth turned over and finally got a good look at the creep who had sent the Rougi after him.

"Who are you? Who do you work for?" Seth yelled out towards the man. For the first time, he could get a good look at the creepy guy.

Dressed in a black overcoat and a white dress suit, the man look to be about fresh out of the Pokémon Academy, a mere 19 years of age. A silver colored fabric crescent was stitched onto the chest of the guys top. A deliberate slash mark of black was stitched from one side to the other, width wise.

"Tut, you actually think I'm that stupid... as to give up my anonymous status. Think again..." This guy was super egotistic, someone who would say their super and actually believe it himself. Seth just smirked and looked up to the sky and then at the creepy teen.

"I believe your friend said your name was... I think it was Trey. What were you guys doing to Lugia?" Seth seemed very satisfied with himself. Having just divulged the guys name and now jumping right to what they were doing.

'I'm gonna become a Guardian in no time flat' Seth thought to himself. He slowly lifted himself off the ground and wiped the remaining leaves and dirt off of his jacket and pants.

"Gah! I can't believe a runt like you could even know such a creatures name. I'll teach you to mess with us. Zipher, use Zap Cannon!" He called out his next command for his precious Rougi.

Seth was about to call out a command, but forgot that he had actually not yet received his first Pokémon. Seth literally freaked-out. He had no protection, and for all he knew, that Riolu had taken off. Seth swung around to see no little blue and black Pokémon behind him, causing him to relive his worst fear... the end

Seth winced as the Rougi summoned up the large electric attack. Bringing his arms to his face to protect himself, Seth stood there ready to face his end. That was until from the trees came the same Riolu. From its hands came a shining blue ball, gleaming with the energy of aura.

"RIOLU!!!" Seth shouted happily as he saw the gleaming ball whiz by and slam into the steel type. Seth couldn't have been any happier to see the little Pokémon. Rougi was sent flying back into the base of the tree behind it, completely knocked out.

"Gah!... Zipher return. You and your Riolu haven't seen the last of us." With that being said, the strange guy, called back the steel type back into its ball and took off running, leaving Seth to think.

"My... Riolu?..." Seth whispered to himself as he turned around and looked at the grinning fighting type.

To be continued...
