THE GUARDIANS SHADOW CH 15

"As you said," Youkomon said as she spread her feet wide and a growl escaped from somewhere deep in her throat. "The Real Fight begins now." She then closed her eyes, bowed her head, her tails began to fan out, and finally all the light around her seemed to be sucked into darkness as her tails produced small Black/Blue balls of flame that had what looked like Fox like faces within them.

Remembering the last time that I'd dealt with a Kyubimon, I quickly leapt away from my position behind her and watched as she completed the ritual to perform her attack.

Just then her tails went rigid and she shouted out, "Dark Fox Inferno!" And with that she flung her tails towards the still bewildered Beelzemon and engulfed him in a ball of Black and Blue flame. Not knowing much about Digimon, I couldn't gauge how powerful her attacks had now become, but if the color of the flames were any indication then that flame would've been much hotter and fiercer than any blue flame.

'Just how strong has her corruption made her?' I wondered as I looked from her on over to the Beelzemon who was now cringing in pain of the flames. Just then he leapt to his feet, thrust out his arms to the fullest with a pop like motion which banished all the flames on his body.

His nice and clean leather jacket and pants now had many scald marks over them which several of which were smoldered with small wisps of white smoke rising from them, his mask looked slightly misshapen in certain places as if the flames had melted part of his mask, and his hair and fur of his jacket were either totally gone or curled up in black crinkled masses. With the scrutinizing of his attire I realized that even after her attack that he was standing and that meant trouble if he could endure that. Though that didn't seem to be the case as without warning he fell to his knees, lifted his head to the sky, opened his mouth as if he was about to let out his final scream of pain before he de-materialized. But instead of a scream of pain, a large puff of black smoke popped out of his mouth and was shortly followed by a trail of white wisp. He knelt there for a little while before he fell to his side to remain still and confirm that he no longer had the will/ability to continue the fight.

Slowly Ren...Youkomon slowly turned to me and I saw her muzzle turn up in a smirk. "He's not to much of a fighter when dealing with me in my Champion form." She said, then began to chuckle which turned into a decent laugh. "I guess it's true, some Digimon are all Bark and No Bite. Pun intended..." She added which got us both to laugh quite a bit at her little geek/computer joke.

A little while later found me checking over my bike while Youkomon stood watch over the two unconscious/tied-up opponents of ours (The rope was just a little something extra that I carried in one of my saddle bags. Never know when you might need a good piece of rope to tie up something or make a decent cloths line to catch the neck of a opponent that's chasing you). "How does it look?" She asked as I turned and saw that she was looking at me out of the corner of her left eye.

Standing up I pointed my hand at the bike in the shape of a gun, fired off a round at the engine, then returned my hand to my pocket. "Dead." I said simply with a sad sigh as I walked back over to stand beside Youkomon. "That Beelzemon must've done something to it when I wasn't looking. I'll be lucky if the things even going to turn over, much less idle."

"You could always just take their bike." She said as she jerked her head to the side, indicating the other bike that stood upright on it's kickstand.

Wondering if it would be worth it, I slowly walked over to the bike and started checking it over. The bike was like nothing really I'd ever seen before, the design of it made the thing look almost...alive. What creped me out the most was the headlights, as they would continuously turn to watch me as I walked around the bike. 'With those headlights like that, one would almost think that this thing really is alive.' I took a closer look at the headlights and could almost visualize them as eyes. "For some reason I just can't shake the feeling like this bike...is watching me or something." I paused a bit as I took a few steps away from it then shook my head. "No, I don't think that I'll take his bike. I'm happy with the one..."

Without warning the bike quickly kicked over, revved it's engine once, then sped forward and ran over my bike. I was so stunned by the fact that the bike had just moved on it's own, that I almost missed seeing my bike explode into digital bits and be absorbed by the thing.

Youkomon jumped in front of me and took on her fighting stance. "Get back. That thing is no bike, it's a Digimon."

I looked on over at her for a moment, back to the bike, then finally back to her. "You've got to be kidding me. A Digimon that looks like a bike. Is that even possible?"

Youkomon's tails began to flame up again and her hackles raised up to show off her pearly white teeth that looked itching to tare into something. "Have you ever seen a bike that's lights track movement, go after another bike that it sees as inferior, and that once the thing explodes into digital bits, (Which is impossible if done by a normal bike she said under her breath) then absorbs the data from whatever it's run over?"

"Damn," I said as I pulled out both the guns and aimed them both at the bike. "And I really liked that bike too."

After running over my bike, the Digimon bike fishtailed around and stopped to face us both. It was like the showdown at the OK corral. Neither one of us making a sudden move that would prompt the other to do something stupid. We both waited for a few moments until the bike's headlight started to swivel a bit and blink on and off again.

"What the...what's going on here? Is it trying to communicate with us or something?" I asked out loud, but didn't want to blink or take my eyes off the bike in case it decided that it was still hungry for more data and would want to get it out of our hides. Continuing to look at the bike I thought that it was trying to use Morris-code but that proved to not be the case as it's blinks/shakes of it's headlight were totally off.

"It's binary." Youkomon said as if reading my mind. She slowly began to relax but stiffened at the end of whatever it was trying to say.

"Well then...what's it saying?"

"It says that it wants to be your new bike." I slowly looked down at Youkomon but I quickly jerked my head back up to the bike when I saw the scruff of fur around her neck quickly rise. "It says that since you defeated it's last master that it wants you to be it's new master. It doesn't want to be the horse of a weak fighter like Beelzemon, rather to be the horse to a strong and mighty fighter. And seeing as how you defeated it's last master..." I didn't need to hear any more as I knew what was about to happen. The bike fishtailed again, aimed right for the Beelzemon and his tamer, and started to rev it's engine.

To say the least I was a bit torn between what I wanted to do and what I should do. On one hand I had these two waste of space that attacked us, nearly killed the two of us, and my bike was now digital dust with this Digimon bike now wanting me to be it's new handler/rider. On the other, I had the Hunters code that dictated that we only hunted Digimon and were sworn to protect civilians. Though could this girl be considered a civilian since she was a Digimon tamer which negated the code all together?

With little warning the bike quickly let off it's forward break, kicked into gear, and shot forward towards the Beelzemon and his tamer. The girl had awoken to the sound of the bike speeding towards her, let out a loud/earsplitting screech which awoke the Beelzemon that was tied up next to her back.

With little thought to the contrary of letting the bike do as it willed, I raised up my pistol and shot the thing in the face, effectively cracking it's visor over it's eyes/headlights, effectively rendering the thing blind. Youkomon took up the hint and quickly ran forward to perform her Dragon Wheel attack that covered the bike in her black flame dragon which ended up destroying/digitizing the bike.

After all this was said and done the two of us walked over to the two who were now trying in vain to escape the rope, but having little success. Once we were standing over the two, both stopped struggling with the ropes and looked up at us. "What...why, why did you save us?" The girl asked as she still seemed quite shaken up over the fact that the bike had nearly turned her into street pizza.

Quickly reaching down I grabbed her by the leather of her pink biker suit, just under her chin, then lifted her up so that we were seeing eye to eye. "Don't get it in your head that I did that out of the kindness of my heart. I want answers...and if I don't get answers...well..." An evil smirk slowly came to my face as I leaned on over to her head and whispered something into her ears.

Her eyes went wide and a little color seemed to drain from her face after I pulled away from her to se her reaction to what I'd just told her. "OH GOD, YOU WOULDN'T." She said but when she saw the evil look that I was giving her, her eyes went a bit wider and she began to shake. "You would..."

"You bet your sweat ass that I would." I looked her up and down in her tight fitting biker leathers. "Life as a Hunter gets a bit, lonely, from time to time and we need to get a little...sexual healing." An evil chuckle escaped my lips as I looked over her body and nodded to her as if approving of how her body looked and the fun things that I could get out of her.

"ALRIGHT, alright. I'll tell you everything." She said in a rush which honestly was a bit disappointing to myself as I was hoping to that she'd resist.

"Do not tell him anything!" The Beelzemon yelled as he strained the ropes to their breaking points but was unable to push them beyond that point since he was still weak from the previous battle.

Dropping the girl so that she was sitting again, I walked over to the Beelzemon and kicked him in the gut. He spat out some of his green blood then fell into a coughing fit as if some of his own blood had seeped down into his lungs. "Looks like your still recovering from that broken rib that you've got. I'd recommend that you don't try anything further or that rib just might puncture something vital, not that I really care that much about it at this point, because after I'm finished getting what I need out of your tamer I'm going to delete your sorry ass."

Turning back to the girl I picked her up again and gave her a nice good shake to bring her back to at least a fraction of the scare point that she was at earlier. "Now, where were we? Ah yes, you were just about to tell me the reason why you told Beelzemon to attack us."

The girl looked on over to the Beelzemon for a little while as if he were the one to give her permission to tell us, but when I gave her a shake she quickly snapped her head back and looked me dead in the eye. "You'll never get anything out of me." She said in a very defiant/strong tone which made it seem that she'd just grown a really strong backbone, then spat into my face.

Dropping the girl onto her posterior, I reached into my jacket pocket and retrieved a small handkerchief, which I used to wipe away the spit. "I guess I really shouldn't be surprised. A tamer thinks they are so strong with their Digimon partner near them that they think that they're untouchable." I pulled out a gun, walked over to the Beelzemon, and pointed the barrel to his head, but then thought the better of it and took aim at her instead. "Though, in truth, they just need a little reminder from time to time of the reality of the real world. Tamers are human and nothing more." A single shot echoed out through the surrounding woods to make it seem as if the shot were more like that of a cannon in the quiet air than just a single bullet leaving a gun.
