Life Here After - Prologue
Prologue
The conflict had started as a small dispute over the governments policy on genetic research. From that dispute arose a group calling themselves The Aeons of Humanity. Although small at the time, the group specialized in rallies that protested anything that would result in the taint that would come from combining the DNA of humans and animals. As time went on and the protests grew, a scientist who was sympathetic to the Aeons of Humanity leaked information that the government was going to be using the research for militaristic purposes. Learning the news, then creating a story that bathed the research in bad light, the Aeons of Humanity spread their propaganda to the public. Upon hearing of their fate, many soldiers within the branches of military and other armed forces laid down their arms and went on strike, many eventually joining The Aeons of Humanity to protest the next generation soldiers.
With much of its forces diminished the United States government initiated its phase one plan, the program to create the next generation soldier. With the programs start came more supporters for the Aeons of Humanity, soon having large enough numbers under their belt The Aeons of Humanity became a political and military power. The new found power was soon used to take over several of the states within America. Finding little resistance the Aeons continued their campaign and began to attack neighboring countries. Allies soon became enemies. Once the world turned to chaos a new world war began. The Dawn of Rift . During the war there were no allies. The weak became extinct while the strong rose to power.
Greed, hate, selfishness and all other manner of corruption spread through the world. When the dust finally settled almost nothing remained. Those that rose from the ashes became even stronger and formed goverments. Among them rose the Aeons of Humanity, the Freedom States, and a small rogue faction known only as ESOE {Enlightened Souls Of Humanity}, or E-soul as they had become nicknamed after the Freedom States and Aeons learned of their strong religious affinity.
Uncertainty arose in the world and for years after the war everything stood still. Much of the land had either changed due to war or succumbed to natural disasters. Some land was too irradiated for humans while others became rampant and home to unknown beasts and plants that changed with the help of radiation and evolution. Deep in the wilds of one such forest came reports of animals that were similar to humans. It was theorized that the creatures had escaped from the labs that the old world left behind. Their evolution appeared to be backward but similar to that of the humans.
Fearing a rise in their power the Aeons released a airbourne virus into the forests were the creatures lived, hoping the creatures would die off. The virus made it impossible for humans to enter the areas, several fearing what the virus would do to them. Aeon soldiers were stationed on the borders of the viral areas and were given a simple order, Kill anything that tries to get in or out.
Thinking the animal problem was taken care of the Aeons turned their attention back to the Freedom States and the E-souls. One faction containing those responsible for creating the animal problem while the other compiled rumors of humans with abnormal abilities caused by irradiation or genetic manipulation.
