Hi, my name's Elizabeth. Well at least that is what people call me when I'm not 'working'. When I am working I've been called every name under the sun. But then again most criminals don't like me showing up. One name I'm not fond of is the one this guy is calling me.

"Hey! Boobzilla! You know what I don't like about ya? Your tits got small again! Looked much better when they were bigger!"

"Shut it Sean." I say, the guy is a pain, doesn't matter what I do he always finds me when I'm about to call it a night. He's a reporter, his current report is on the Kingdom, bunch of overly spliced and modded thugs. "It's been a long night." My tail twitched as I walked, three mods in one night is tough, three mods with a whole bunch of groupies is enough to even make me ready to collapse. I'm not quite normal, I've been spliced, splicing being having a mixture of animal DNA injected into your own, banned on some colonies because of the issues with criminals splicing up to get even stronger. I originally spliced up because I wanted a little lizard in me. Somethings happened. Things I'd rather not get into at the moment. Suffice it to say, things happened, and I turned into some kind of superhero who spends her nights in the Kingdom's turf rounding up the splicers and modders for the authorities.

"Oh come on Lizzy, I'm sorry about the whole boobzilla bit, I just want to know if you figured out who they are getting those military grade mods from." Sean said as he stayed behind me. His camera flashing as we walked by the thugs I had rounded up.

"Look, these guys are getting it through the same means most people get anything thats been banned for civilian use. Someone, somewhere is taking these mods from the shipments meant for the bases and selling them for a profit on the side, and these fools use too much and end up as these hulking dumbasses who I have to beat up. Now if you don't mind, I would like to get home, and get some sleep. I have plans in the morning." I say as I get on my bike, a custom built job, anyone without my reflexes would crash it in a heartbeat, turning on the powercell the bike floated off its skids, a quick twist of the throttle left Sean in the distance before he could even try to ask another question. Once well out of sight I hit a button on the handle bar the bike changes mid flight into a much less flashy moped, as the bike changes so do I, my slight muzzle disappearing back into my face, as the scales on my head recede, hair sprouting in their place, like my face the scales disappear from my front and my clawed hands softened as my legs and feet went from digitgrade to more human, my muscles went from bulging to just barely noticeable under my scales and skin. Back in my 'normal' form no one would ever really think I was Lizard Girl as most people referred to me, I'm just Elizabeth Daniels, an employee of Genemods, one of the companies that produces the chemicals for the genetic modifications used by the military and splicing clinics. The very same chemicals that the members of the Kingdom use to splice and mod their bodies into the freaks they are.

Pulling up in front of a small building and shutting off the bike I hop off before it even finishes settling on its skids. Walking up the door slides open for me as I enter, quickly sidestepping an orange streak flies out the door. "Its been a long night Rina, not in the mood." I say as I walk up the stairs to my room, closing the doors the nanosuit quickly pulls itself back into the belt around my waist. Pulling it off I enter the bathroom and open the door to the shower, the water starts and warms to the perfect temperature immediately, standing where the streams from the three nozzles meet I can feel my muscles relax, a nights worth of pounding on modders and splicers working out of them. The orange blur from before enters the bathroom.

"Another long night?" The tabby neko asks from the other side of the shower door.

"Yep, three modders, full crews under them too, biggest ones yet." I say as I soak, Rina knows these showers help me calm down after a rough night. "I hope one of these days we get the bastard supplying them these mods."

"I know you will Liz, after all you'll be the one who nabs them." She said smiling. Katrina works at the same company as me, we've known each other since grade school, she was top of the class each year, despite seemingly having a bad case of ADHD when she has nothing she needs to do.

I just sigh, "Yeah, but when will that happen, tomorrow, next year, when the guy finally dies? And what about when he's gone, they'll find someone else to get it for them." This is the truth, we both know it but it deosn't stop her from trying to perk me up. Waving my hand under a shower head the water turns off, Rina opens the door and hands me a towel, wrapping myself in it I get out and fall into her arms. The neko carries me into our room and lays me down on the bed. Laying down next to me she kisses me on the cheek.

"You'll get them, I know you will." She said as she pulled the blanket over us. Soon enough we both fell asleep.

Well, lets take a look back, see where this all started, how me and Rina became the people we are today. It was the year 3060, or 235 AR, The human race had spread across the galaxy thanks to the warp gates thousands of worlds had been found, only a handful capable of supporting the human race, it was these handful of worlds that had sprouted the need for the human race to be able to adapt to the new worlds gave birth to companies that specialized in creating the things that made us humans into more. One in particular my dad worked at, they had set up on the world of Djinn. Named so because it was the most earthlike to be found. Genemod opened its first lab on this planet, the lab where my dad worked, with Rina's parents. We both grew up on this planet, attended its schools and watched as its cities grew from nothing into major centers of commerce, Djinn was in the perfect position, a central planet that made for a perfect trade center, but as with any port it also attracted the scum of the universe.

But back to where what we were talking about. Splicing and how I ended up half lizard. I was in high school, third in my class, Rina was first. I was about as average looking as you could imagine, mousy brown hair, brown eyes, height at 5'7", weight only 140, an average bust, and average build, I was anything but exceptional. Katrina on the other hand was less the average, 5'2" 180 pounds rather dumpy at the time. We were best friends, usually if we weren't home we were at the other's studying. We made it a competition, see who could get better test scores. We both knew it was Katrina, her IQ was through the roof compared to me. Your asking what this has to do with the two of us getting spliced up and her turning into a real babe. Well it was a bet between me and my dad. If I could end up second in class with Katrina in first he'd pull some strings and create some custom splices for the two of us. Well as luck would have it, on the finals Roger Reynolds flunked his ancient history exam, apparently having a good nights sleep is important if you don't want to fall asleep in the middle of a test, which I passed with flying colors thanks to all the studying I did with Katrina. Upon getting the results my dad honored his end. He pulled some strings to get his higher ups to allow him use of the lab to mix up our splices. He took a day off his Accelerated Evolution project to work on this. A project that Patrick Reynolds got passed over for, who was still angry that he didn't get as much credit for the breakthrough that allowed splicing. You see Patrick Reynolds worked with my dad and Rina's parents to create the key that made splicing safe and predictable, Patrick's contribution was minor to the point that without him they would of taken another day to create the catalysts, he found a protein chain in a plant, a plant that was being looked at by another group of scientists in an adjacent lab that shared results with my parents. Well either way, my pushing his son down the list one more rung was the final straw. While my dad worked on the coding for my dream body he was hacking the mixer. The result being instead of the standard catalyst being mixed in, it mixed in the prototype AE catalyst and his Predator Mod.

Now you're wondering just what I mean by Accelerated Evolution, well the human race evolved on earth. Only similar planets can support us without the need for major biome's being made, splicing helped this immensely, some people have gone as far as to make their bodies good for a single planet. The AE project aimed to make it so that people could alter themselves as needed for a specific planet, without needing major splicing done, while being able to return to more habitable planet without needing suits or anything that is currently needed. Now while Reynolds hadn't been selected for the AE project, he had been chosen for predator mod project. Unlike the AE mod that was meant for general population use, the Predator mod was for the military, increased strength, reflexes, and cellular regeneration. The Predator mod was near completion, though Reynolds was riding his staff's success.

As you can probably guess, strange things happen when you mix the two together, and even more strange things happen when you add in reptile DNA to the mix. Originally I was supposed to get a thin tail and golden slit eyes with some gold scales here and there. I wasn't expecting the extras that got tacked on. That night Dad came home with the two vials for me and Rina was supposed to be one of the happiest in our lives, we were going to join the ranks of the spliced, but we'd have our own custom made splices, none of that off the shelf junk that you have to hope gives you what you wanted. Going to my room with the stuff I loaded the injector with Rina's dose, her dose didn't have anywhere near as much of the catalyzing agent in it since it was easier to splice other mammalian DNA into a human. Placing it on her arm I pulled the trigger, the formula injected into plump girls arm. I changed out the cylinders and installed the one for me. Injecting myself we waited for the sedatives to take hold so that we'd sleep through the changes. The video camera rolled as we fell asleep, I wanted to see how it went, figuring that we'd get to watch the results time and time again this way.

The next thing I remembered was my dad looking over me with a worried look on his face. He had his scanner out and was looking at the results. I felt strange, like my body was a mass of fluid moving this way and that, I passed out again. Then I woke up, bright lights surrounding me. I was on some kind of gurney, there was yelling, someone was saying this was someone's fault. I heard my father voice, it was quiet, "It doesn't matter right now, we need to stabilize her, then we can point the finger where it belongs." I tried to turn my head to look in his direction but my muscles felt like lead, my eyes moved enough, I saw a tabby next to me, Rina. Rina just wanted to have the ears and tail, but here she was covered with fur, even had a muzzle on her. I tried looking at myself, but couldn't move enough to do it. "Look, she has both the AE and Predator in her, we need to figure out how to..." I am not sure if I passed out again myself or if they sedated me.

I woke up, Rina was looking at me, her fur was gone, so was her muzzle, her body was different, but her face, and those green eyes, they were there. "Hey there sleepy head, they finally fixed you."

I tried sitting up only to have her put her hand on my shoulder. "Not yet, you've been out for a few months, the stuff that Mr Reynold's put into our splices kinda messed us up, you more then me." She said smiling. "Though they got you all fixed up now, so its just up to getting you used to your new body." She grabbed a mirror and held it in front of my face. My eyes, they were just as I wanted, a gold iris with the black slit. I saw my ears, pointed like the elfs in the old stories. My hair had grown out and was an unruly mess, but my face is what I wanted, moving an arm I saw the gold scales trailing down them to my hands, ever so fine and delicate looking, my fingers ended in small claws, not something I planned on. Seeing my expression change when I looked at my hand Rina spook up again. "Yeah, thing didn't go as planned for you. But I think you turned out great." She said as I looked at my hand. "Your legs were altered past what was intended and so where your feet. Your tail is a little bigger then intended but what is most changed is your bust. It appears you've grown a few cup sizes at least." She said as the bed moved me into a more upright position.

"What happened? A bad splice?" I asked, my voice hoarse.

"Mr. Reynolds hacked the mixer, the catalysts were changed out with some experimental stuff. We got lucky that your dad checked on us after we passed out, his scanners showed something was off, when he checked the actual contents of the left over serum he discovered the wrong stuff was mixed in. If he didn't get us here in time we might of turned out a lot different." Rina said smiling, I looked around, saw a room with a vase of flowers on a table, a tv on the wall by the ceiling and a scanner station and an IV stand next to my bed.

"So where are we? The hospital?" I asked seeing the other medical equipment.

"Genemod's labs. They put us up in here to make sure nothing else goes wrong." Rina said sitting down next to the bed. "The guy who did this has been fired though, he was apparently pissed off that we did better then his kid, our parents got put on better projects and were promoted faster then him. You know the kind of stuff that makes you wonder how he managed to get a job in the first place."

The door opened and my father walked in, his hair seemed more gray then before, "I heard you woke up. I take it your a little confused still, right?"

I nodded my head. "Yeah, a little, what happened?"

"Well as you've guessed, something went wrong, pretty badly too. Well you see Pat decided to put my Accelerated Evolution splice and his predator mod into the serum I made for you two, its my fault for not double checking them after they were made."

"Predator Accelerated Evolution, what were these supposed to do?" I asked as Rina handed me a glass of water, drinking it as my father answered.

"Well the Accelerated Evolution project was to help make it easier for humans to colonize, it would allow the body to continually evolve for as long as needed to allow it to adapt to whatever environment if found itself in, even environments that would outright kill someone. The Predator mod though was for the military, your standard strength and what not pushed a few levels past current stuff. They can act as catalyzers by themselves but for when mixed together you get some odd results, first they have an exponential result, a little bit goes a very long ways, what would have been needed for your splice is a small fraction of what was used. Then you have the fact that they weren't even meant to be used for splicing originally, though now the higher ups want us to look into it, and had their own unique effects. We still aren't sure of the full effects it has had on the two of you. Rina here has gone through a little testing, she is stronger then she used to be, but we don't know what all has happened to her, I don't want to put her or you through some of the tests they want me to."

"Who wants to do what?" I asked as I put the glass down.

"The board, the guys in charge of this company, they want to see the full extent of the changes you two went through, it involves putting you in places a normal person couldn't survive, I won't do that to you. I won't do that to anyone who isn't willing to, who didn't want the stuff in them already."

I closed my eyes. "I'll do it. Just let me get used to this first..." I said as I looked at Rina, the girl smiled as she looked at me.

My father sighed with relief. "Thank you, just remember, when you are going through these tests, I can abort them the second you are even uncomfortable."

I nodded before going to get out of bed, both my father and Rina went to object but I wanted to get up, seeing my legs I stopped, they had changed a lot more then I planned. My feet only had three toes, and even had a dew claw coming out of my heel, the scales were rougher then I planned, not like the fine scales on my arms. "What, what happened?"

Rina and my dad both sighed. "The stuff changed you more then expected, we were able to reverse it mostly, though your legs we only got brought back to this point." My father said quietly. "I don't want to try resplicing you, I don't know what the outcome would be..."

I flexed my legs, my toes, they felt strong. Standing on them confirmed that. "Don't worry, I can deal with it." I said as I took a tentative step, only to trip, Rina caught me and smiled.

"Hey, careful, you still need to get your strength up, get used to your new legs." She said, her tail winding around my waist as she helped me take a few more steps. Soon she let go, her tail unwinding , she blushed as I sat down in a chair.

"Thanks, I just can't stand being in bed. Dad can we go back home?"

"Sure honey, first thing tomorrow, we just want to make sure of a few things then we'll have you home." He said as he left. "I'll be back with your dinner."

I closed my eyes, started thinking about how I wanted to look, what I wanted not how I turned out. I felt something, like water flowing through my legs, Rina who had been keeping an eye on me cried out when my dew claws pulled in my heels. "Liz! Your feet!" She said. Opening my eyes I looked down, the feeling was my feet shifting, my scales had decreased in size, becoming much finer, my had returned to normal sans the small claws instead of toe nails.

I smiled and flexed my toes, "That is amazing..."

"You're right. How'd you do that?" Rina asked as she got down and looked at my feet.

"I just thought about it." I said quietly. "I thought about how I wanted them to look, and they changed."

My dad returned with a tray of food, only to stop as he looked at my legs. "Kiddo, what did you do?"

I shook my head. "I don't know, I thought about it and my legs turned into this." My dad shook his head. "Don't do it in front of anyone else if you can avoid it. I don't want them to know about it."

"Why dad?" I asked as I grabbed the tray and started to eat.

He closed the door and sat down across from me. "Because, they'd want to do more experiments on you then I think you could survive, I don't now what your talking about."

"They can't do that, that is what the blanks are for." I said between bites. "Laws forbid such practices."

"Yeah, doesn't mean they won't if the government wants it done. You two were introduced to projects the government funded, if the government wants us to do something, we have to do it. As long as they don't know, they won't ask us to do it. That and you don't want Rina here to be put in danger, would you?" He asked as he looked at the Tabby who was smiling.

"No, I won't let anyone hurt her." I said putting down the fork.

To this day I have honored that, I've done everything I can do to protect my friend, no, my mate. It wasn't till a year or so after that day that we kissed, even longer till we found ourselves in a single bed sharing a night of love, but we are mates, and she is there for me when I am finished with my extra 'work'.
