When I was 15, I was picked to be a warrior. I had to pack some of my things with me and head off to training camp. But when I got there I wasn't allowed straight in for two hours. I had to sit outside and wait for the General to come and confirm my draft. He finally showed up, looking all the way angry and upset, later on I found that all Generals would be like this. It must be something they all ate.

"Stand up!" Was the first thing he roared at me. I looked at him and then stood up. "What is your name!?"

I looked at the elite. "My name? Well my name is Shadey." The General stood there looking dumbfounded.

"That's a odd name for a sanghili. But I don't care, now get your bunk and get your things unpacked. Your training begins in one hour." I nodded and walked to my bunk. I saw on my bunk a paper.

'Get out. You dont belong here. What makes you think you can be warrior?'

I stared at the paper then made it to a ball and threw it aside. "They dont know anything. I may not have the body for this but with some training I'll be able to join the Covenant. I'll be known and respected soon enough..." Shadey finished unpacking his stuff and walked over to the training grounds. The gate keeper saw me coming and set out my armor. I finally came up to the gate to see the old worn suit. "Here is your stuff....Shadey. Now suit up and get in there. The Arbiter doesn't like it when we are late."

"The Arbiter?! He's here?" I asked stunned, wondering why The Arbiter would be spending his time at a minor soldier training facility, surely he had more important missions to attend to?

The gate keeper nodded. "Yes. Now get in your armor and start training." He added, annoyed he had to repeat himself. I nodded and walked back to my bunk and took off my civilian armor. There where some marks from beatings from my father along my back and chest. I stared at my naked self for a second then shook my head and sighed. Putting my armor on and strapped together the mistreated equipment with my gear took awhile, this armor was not well kept. "Well I guess I'm a minor right now. I want to be in the Asthetic. Those look cool." I kept talking to myself as I entered the gate.

I stopped and looked up a few Elites came walking over. "Hey look fresh meat. You're mine tonight. You're not going to last here for more than an hour."

I just looked at them and grunted. "Get out of my way."

As I pushed on down they noticed the marks on my arms and legs. They didn't say anything as I walked up to the Arbiter. "Sir... reporting for duty." The Arbiter moved his head and looked at me. He saw the fire in my eyes seeing I wanted to join the Covenant and be trained by the best. He smiled. " What is your name?"

I looked at The Arbiter, surprised he would ask me that. "My name is Shadey. I know its odd but it's more a nickname. I was chosen for stealth missions." The Abiter smiled.

"Well first of all before you can even get in you have to go through training with these guys first."

I stare at the Arbiter. "Yes sir. I understand." I walked off and went to hand to hand combat first. The Arbiter watched me leave to start my training. A Prophet came up next to the Arbiter suddenly, he had been using active camouflage. " You think he will suit to be beside you in the Covenant?" The Prophet sat there thinking for a moment.

" Let us see how he dose. But he has the warrior's heart. Now go.... Train him I want him."

The Arbiter nodded. "It will be done."

The Arbiter walked away and headed to me. I was losing big time in the hand to hand. Arbiter kept seeing me get knocked down. I got up and stared at the big elite I was fighting. He was ready to swing again but The Arbiter ran in and raged the Elite and hit him in the gut. The Elite fell to the ground trying to get his breath back, but limbed away as The Arbiter dismissed him. The Arbiter turned around and stared at me. "From now on I'll be training you. I don't want to hear anything. You will be trained by me."

I looked at the Arbiter and nodded. "So what is it you want me to do first?"

The Arbiter smiled. " You and me are going to fight each other right now. I want to see what you can do to me." I nodded and The Arbiter sat his energy sword and plasma rifle down to the side.

"Ok attack me." The Arbiter went to a defensive position. I looked at the Arbiter and roared. I ran and went to hit the Arbiter, throwing a fist forward, but his hand got caught it easily. I froze up and didn't move. The Arbiter hit me on the side of the face and then my stomach. "Your weak. Useless if you want to call it that way. If you ever want to win you can't rush. Think, listen, observe your enemy. Understand how they think and predict their movement." I got up and looked at The Arbiter. Blood ran down my face. The Arbiter could see the anger that flashed in my eyes, and he grinned and took his stance once more.

"Again attack me!"

I grunted and ran for a attack and managed to hit The Arbiter in the face but then I was hit in the face and spun around and hit in the back. I hit the ground hard.

"Your doing it wrong minor." The Arbiter said above me as I groaned, "If you ever want to get to a higher rank you're going to need to learn how to fight with weapons and without weapons. Hand to hand is a warriors most powerful tool. Now get up and try again!"

I got up now with rage. I charged and hit the Arbiter in the face then in the stomach. The Arbiter was showing no signs of pain but was shown what this simple Elite could do. I kept hitting and was stopped by the Arbiter, a single hand was all it took for him.

"Good. But still weak. If you ever want to take an enemy down you're going to have to do better then that. I want you to work out more, strengthen those muscles. Go do some heavy lifting work until curfew. You're getting up early to train more tomorrow."

I nodded, still stung and upset but I controlled my anger. " It will be done." I said calmly and walked off and as I walked the Arbiter noticed the marks of being beaten. He even notice the Mark of Shame was on his arm. The Arbiter remembered the day he got a mark on his chest. Yes, this warrior would be good indeed...

I left the gate, intending to go lift some weights to see large piles of wood just outside it. A Elite walked up to me. "I see you need work to do. Well if so, you can help lift these piles of wood and set it on that wagon."

I nodded and went to work lifting the wood, each one weighed about seventy pounds. I grunted and he lifted the first one then the next on to the next one. The sun was about half way down now. The bell rang for dinner but I kept working, the Elite that had been helping turned and left, apparently not caring for the work. Another Elite came up to me, a very nice one too it seemed. "You don't have to work anymore. Once the bell rings for dinner you eat then go to bed."

I looked at the Elite and set the wood down on the wagon. "Well I guess I am kind of hungry." I smiled. They both walked to get dinner. " So what your name?" the Elite asked.

"My name? My name is Shadey. I know its not really a Elite's name but it's a nickname I gave myself. My actually name would be on that disgraces my family now. That's why I have the Mark of Shame of my arm. But what's your name?"

The Elite knew what I meant. "Well I'm sorry that happened to you but here you'll be trained to be a warrior. So lets hope you get the honor you want here. But my name is Kholo. Like from that planet."

I nodded. "Well its nice to meet you."

Kholo smiled. "Likewise."

They both enter the kitchen and took their food and sat down at a table.

"I... don't worry about these other Elites. The one you need to listen to is The Arbiter, Shipmaster, and the Prophet. They are the ones you need to be on guard for."

I looked at Kholo. "For some reason the Arbiter is training me."

Kholo lit up. "Really what is it like so far?"

I sighed. "He said I'm weak...He told me to lift heavy things ad work out more, that was why I was still lifting that wood. If I ever want to do damage to him I have to get stronger.." I kept eating my food and finished. Kholo got up with me as we put our trays away in a bucket to be cleaned.

"Well Kholo. I think its time for bed. What bunk you at?"

Kholo responded fast, almost like he expected the question. "I'm at bunk 82."

"That's what bunk I'm at to."

"Well at least we'll get to know each I guess." Kholo smiled lightly. "Well that's unless the have us change bunks they do that every now and then." I nodded and the two Elites went to the bunks.

"Well better get some rest I guess. The Arbiter is going to make me get up early for more training."

Kholo nodded as I took my armor off. Kholo smiled lightly and Shadey climbed in his bed and went to sleep.
