Alright, first off my apologies for my neglect on this website. I'm still new to it and have been busy with other things like school. So, to make up for the lack of submissions, I'm going to submit the first chapter of I story I have in the works to this website first. I hope those of you who find and read it enjoy it!

=============================================================================================

His eyes opened slowly. There was no sting of light or grogginess. The strange, viscous, green ooze he found himself in didn't make his eyes burn and he could move his arms through it with some effort, albeit more than he would need if he were in water. The hatch had an internal lock and simple methods of escape. With a loud "pop!" the hatch to the tank gave way and the pressures from the goo made it slide a couple of feet after the release.

Next came something very unpleasant; he had to pull a breathing tube out of his trachea. With a loud gasp and some gagging, he managed to get it out. The room he was in looked very cold. Not from climate but in a medical or scientific way, like experiments had been going on, possibly autopsies and other horrific things. The walls and floors held a dull grey color, clearly metallic. The place was outfitted like a bunker.

Slowly, he made his way out and staggered a bit, shivering now that he wasn't..."protected"from the elements. His brown fur still had the goo in it...He knew it would be a good idea to wash it off. But there was another major concern for now; who else was there and what would they do to him when they found him awake?

A scalpel lay on one of the tables in the room. There was no hesitation as he picked it up and very slowly and carefully peeked out of the room, opening the door slowly. It was quiet...and empty. There were no lights. There were no sounds, either. This unsettled him.

Very carefully, he felt around for a light switch and flipped it on. The lights still worked, flickering before a moment before a steady glow lit up the hallway. It was completely empty.

"To hell with it..."he muttered, before calling out "Anyone there?"

There was no answer.

A door right across was clearly marked "Washroom". He entered it and looked around, finding a shower. His paw reached out and turned the handle, making the water spray out of the nozzle. He tried to adjust it so that it was a little bit warmer but it would not heat up. With a sigh, he jumped in and quickly scrubbed the remains of the thick, green liquid out of his fur.

Immediately after turning the shower off, he got out and found a towel to dry off with, shivering as he did. He knew he would need clothes.

He went to the mirror to check his head and muzzle for any remnants of the goo still left. There were none. His face and features were just as he'd always remembered. Brown all over with white on his chin and two aqua green stripes tattooed on each cheek and another stripe going down his forehead. His muscles were well-toned, almost like a body builder, a body physique that was reminiscent of a rugby or football player. The vain timber wolf couldn't help but smirk, admiring his own body tone.

"Always did look good."

These places always had axes to chop down doors or even walls and such in case of an emergency. The case that had held it was curiously empty though. It wasn't surprising to him that they would all leave him here to die. What had him curious though was what exactly had happened? That could wait until later, though. He kept the scalpel but continued to look for the axe. There were some lockers in the washroom and they probably had clothes or something else of importance or interest.

Suddenly a scent hit him that made his stop for a moment. Blood...A lot of it. He hurried to the source and froze for a moment. Well, at least he found the axe. It was securely held to the floor with duct tape, the sharp edge of the head pointing upward. A female doctor, a vixen, had fallen onto it intentionally.

He carefully pulled her body off of it and read the name tag. He recognized the name and face and frowned slightly.

"Dr. Lina Shelk...That's a shame..."he spoke softly.

She had been the one doctor he recalled before all this that he wouldn't have gladly killed. It helped that she was cute, but more that she wasn't cruel or even rude. But what would have made her kill herself? Or was it murder?

He checked her belt loop and found a keychain hooked on it. One of them must have been the keys to her locker and another to her room. He used the scalpel to cut the tape off of the axe handle.

Now he could get into all the lockers. He found Lina's first and set the axe down before he found the key to the lock, opening it up. He looked through the simple, work-related belongings, finding a backpack that he knew would be useful but also found one personal item; a photo of her with her family. He carefully slid it into the backpack along with the keys before picking the axe back up.

He swung the axe hard and fast at the hinges and got the door off of the first one. There was a flashlight but that was it. Still it was useful, so he took it and set it aside with his other items. Before going to the next locker, he paused a moment and wondered how ridiculous he would look at any other given time, swinging an axe at lockers while bare-assed. He chuckled a bit but knew that it didn't matter at all.

He continued through each and every locker but only found useful items in a couple more. One had a card key and the other had a pair of scrubs. Fortunately for him, the scrubs were big enough for him to fit it...a little too big actually, but it was better than nothing.

After picking up the backpack, he went up the stairs to the staff and crew quarters to find Lina's room. He still kept the axe and the scalpel though, just in case he found someone who was much less pleasant than she was. Again, there was nothing.

There wasn't any time to waste, though. He quickly found the door with her name on it and found the appropriate key, opening it up. Her room was tidy; clothes that were hung in the closet had even distance between each one and were coordinated by color and whether they were long-sleeved, short-sleeved or sleeveless. This made him raise a brow and smirk a little bit.

"You were a neat freak, weren't you?"

He checked the keychain again. There were only a few keys, including the ones he'd just used. Was there something else in her room that was locked up?

His concern for some more useful items was put off when he looked over at her bed and saw, neatly placed on the straightened sheets and blanket was a teddy bear. He picked it up carefully and could smell her scent coming from it, able to tell from it that she held it close to her every night. His curiosity perked and he looked around her room more, this time looking for things that told him more about her.

Really, the only thing she ever did for him, besides look pretty, was ask him small things like "How are you doing?"

Perhaps they were trivial but it just struck him as an unnecessary kindness that she went out of her way to give. Because of that alone, he would be lying if he tried to convince himself there weren't a few lonely nights he'd thought about what he'd be willing to do with her. He always did enjoy her scent when he could smell it.

Among her possessions was a bookshelf, filled with movies, books and even a few video games. He looked closer at the books and movies she had. Typical romance movies and books that you would expect to find but she also had a few comedies and even a couple of comic books. She also seemed to have reference books and other things that she read because of her profession. What also stood out was most of the romance novels were from a single author, Theodore Wilkins.

He was snapped out of his curiosities when he realized that he had spent too long in this room and went for the door. His feet stopped and refused to move any farther though and he froze and sighed, before turning back to grab the teddy bear and a dustcover blanket off a shelf in her closet.

Quickly, he made his way back down to the lab and medical area and back to Lina's body. He carefully laid her straight onto her back and then put the stuffed animal in her arms. After just shaking his head, surprised at his own sentimentality, he draped the blanket over her.

"It is a shame..."he said softly to her, before turning and going back up to the upper level with his axe.

It would be a good idea to search the other rooms too. He decided to only search a few of them and picked them by the names. He chose the head security officer's room, the doctor in charge of the whole thing and a couple of random ones. The security officer, who had been a marine, had a Ka-Bar among his possession. This was useful, but no firearms could be found. That aggravated him a little bit, but the first-aid kit he found in the doctor's room was a good find as well.

In one of the two random rooms, he found a map of the compound. Apparently this person had been the new girl and didn't know her way around just yet. The only other thing he found that interested him, though wasn't of particular use, was a bottle of liquor. He took a quick, but light, swig.

"Mmm, god damn that's nice..." he put the bottle in his bag and went back to the other rooms to check what size the clothing was.

The security guard, fortunately, was about his size. He put on the sturdy uniform and boots, along with the cap.

With that, he turned to leave, speaking softly to the absent tenant on the room "Thank you very much."

Now it was time to get to the elevator. Hopefully it still worked. If not, there was an emergency stairwell. The card key he found in one of the lockers would let him get into some places, though he wasn't sure what the highest clearance was.

He scanned the card and called the elevator down. It was working. He kept the axe ready, just in case, even after he saw the elevator was empty. Since security in the compound was tight, the elevator only went up one level, albeit the level he was currently at was deep underground.

As the elevator took him up, he could see through a clear, windowed section that he was in a much larger place than he realized. Seeing the vast amount of solid rock that was being put underneath him was a sobering realization. Just what had happened? What was waiting at the upper levels? What compelled Lina to take her own life like that?

A "ding"sounded as the elevator arrived. He readied his axe and waited patiently. Finally, the doors opened.
