#17 of Two Worlds (Finished)

            Blood.

            It's what made the in...

Blood.

It's what made the initial key role in engagement for the Anthro world. Once crossed, the two people who crossed blood would be engaged till further marriage assessments were made. It was that easy to some people but it was also risky for others. Blood was essential for life to continue, that was obvious, but if someone accidentally cut themselves, then they would have to keep it away from anyone who would cross blood. The chances were slim but the Warrior has seen it happen before.

However, the Warrior could only look at the wall in front of him as he was deciding to make up his mind. He couldn't let the boy die, he knew that much, but it was hard when he needed blood to stay alive and possibly wake up from the coma he was in. At first, the Warrior went through a whole bunch of scenarios in his mind, trying to see if anyone would offer to share blood with the boy. But who would want to? He was a human!

A human!

When the Warrior first met the boy he was disgusted, but now he got used to the boy that he was fine with his presence, and it appeared the Doctor never minded either. But the bottom line was: the boy needed blood. Fast.

Otherwise he would be dead, "Okay," Said the Warrior finally, turning his head a bit to look the Doctor in the eyes, his gaze was tired but that wasn't important right now. The boy was their main focus and main priority, nothing could get in the way right now, "so you're saying if we go through with this, he'll survive?"

The Doctor swallowed and nodded, "I know that their efforts in separating were in their best interest, but I can't think of anything else that would be better. We have to do this."

The Doctor was right, there was no other way.

Grabbing the two knives beside him, the Doctor grabbed the Warrior's comrade's wrist, then the boys and entwined them together to form a cross. "Kevin and Demetrius," He said, holding the knives to their wrist and holding his breath, "I now pronounce you, Fiancée's."

He gradually let the two knives slide over their skin...

"Kevin?" Demetrius' soft voice brought him back out of unconsciousness, letting his eyes blink open and finding himself in whole a new setting. By the way it smelled Kevin knew that it wasn't his room and by the way it looked he pretty much confirmed it. The room was white and full of paintings that were displayed out on the wall in various colors that made Kevin feel nauseous.

"W-" Kevin tried to speak, but it only made his head spin in a twisting tornado that made the room spin in circles, so instead he closed his eyes and sighed heavily, trying to ground his spinning and balance it all out so he won't throw up on Demetrius, who stood over the bed Kevin was laying in.

"Shhh, you're in a building called a 'Hospital'." He replied, placing his paw on Kevin's head and sliding his fingers through his hair. He was sweating from the body temperature that was rising rapidly; Doctors had to put cold sheets over him and kept ice packs on certain spots of his body to balance his temperature. "Your brother, Derik, came into your room and found you passed out-don't worry though I had you in some pyjamas before he came in." He smiled a little but immediately lost it after Kevin winced from the spinning again.

Kevin tried to speak but was stopped by Demetrius, "Kevin..." He paused, deciding whether or not he should speak what was on his mind. "You... You said you were stabbed...Right? Squeeze my hand if I'm correct."

The Husky put his hand into Kevin's and immediately felt how hot Kevin was getting, which made him worry more.

He squeezed.

"Was it bad?" He was referring to the wound.

Again, he squeezed.

"Then I know why you're sick..." He said quietly, his face was of something Kevin has never seen before and it honestly made him scared for what he was about to say. Did he want to hear it? Was it something he should hear? If he did then how would he react to it? Considering he's a sitting duck that can hardly move Kevin would have to absorb it calmly. Or else Kevin might do something he would regret, "You're dying..."

Kevin's body went into a spasm after that, the machines that were hooked up to him were beeping rapidly loud and Demetrius stepped back with his paws to his ears. What was happening? Looking around, the Husky's hearing picked foot fall's heading towards the room. As Much as he really wanted to stay with Kevin and have his hand still in his, he had to leave before he was spotted. It hurt to actually do so but he had no choice, if he was spotted then Demetrius would have a lot more on his paws to handle.

Heading to the window and sliding it open, Demetrius looked back before stepping out and disappearing from the room. But he stopped as he was making his way along the side of the building.

His wrist was burning with a white searing pain that brought his legs to collapse to the edge he was standing on.

What's going on? Why was he getting weak?

Finally giving in, Demetrius' eyes blurred shut before he fell off the edge and plummeted to the ground, blacking out in mid-air and-

--Gasping in a breath of air as his body was bolted upward, coughing as his throat met dry air.

"Demetrius...!" Damien, his comrade, stood beside him as the Husky was catching his breath, the Tiger placing his hands on Demetrius and wrapping him into a tight hug. "I thought we were going to lose you!"

Dr. Marshal cleared his throat, "It seems we finally brought both of you back."

Both...? Looking to his left, Demetrius' eyes met Kevin's, who was sitting on the table next to him. He couldn't believe it, Kevin was there and looking better! "Y... you're alive...!" He choked out, his eyes burning but he thought they were just dry, not tears. Demetrius couldn't have the energy to cry.

Kevin only smiled weakly before Dr. Marshal spoke for Kevin, "Not exactly... Kevin and you may be out of the coma but his body temperature is still spiking."

Demetrius couldn't help his ears falling after what he'd just heard from Dr. Marshal, Kevin looked fine! If his body temperature was rising, he would be sweating and wet but he didn't, he looked fine, "He doesn't seem to be heating up..." the Husky kept his voice hard and low, trying to focus on staying calm and relaxed.

Dr. Marshal cleared his throat and stood between the two tables, turning to face both of them with his hands held in front of him. Demetrius had to admit he looked sophisticated but sometimes he knew that would be a bad thing, "Kevin I understand, from the rumours around Arella, that you and Demetrius can somehow transport to other worlds through your sleep. Am I correct?"

Demetrius looked over to Kevin and saw him nod in response, he looked tired and exhausted but the Husky understood why, he just got stabbed and he wasn't really surprised at this side effect.

"And, were you somehow feeling... sick in your world?"

Again, Kevin nodded. "Doctor, what are you getting at?" Asked Demetrius.

"What I'm getting at, Demetrius, is that you of all people should know the side effects of world crossing." His voice was raw frustration and anger now, which sent a tiny shiver of worry through the Husky, "Think," He said, "the main reason Kevin is burning up is because...?"

"He's lost blood..."

"And how did he lose the blood?"

Demetrius got frustrated and clenched his hands into fists, looking at the Doctor with angry eyes, "Marshal! What are you getting at! Stop leaving me with cliff hangers! I hate that!"

Dr. Marshal only sighed in response, but Demetrius knew he made Damien and Kevin jump by how his voice was raised, "Kevin is dying because he has spilled blood in our world, which means if he's spilled blood here, he will either die or survive. But there is a catch," Dr. Marshal raised a finger and looked at Kevin now, "If Kevin died right here on my table, then he would be brought back to his world and he would be alive there."

"But," Kevin said "I didn't die here..."

"Exactly," Dr. Marshal smirked and looked Kevin in the eyes, "you survived. Which means your body in your own world will die, leaving you stuck in our world forever... All ties you have in your world is to your body there, but if it dies, you won't be able to return." Dr. Marshal looked over to Demetrius before leaning towards Kevin, "Which leaves you with a terrible decision to make in such little time."

Demetrius spoke this time, finally getting where the Doctor was getting at, "Kevin will have to decide between my world... or his."

"That is correct," Marshal said; his eyes now sad and hurt looking, "In the end, Kevin will have one world to worry about... instead of two." Marshal left Kevin with a question he never thought he had to ask.

"So, what'll it be? Would you like to live in your world with your family and your human life? Or stay here, being with the love of your life and the world you started to like."
