The night was calm, and also silent. It was the time when nearly all Pokemon slept, enjoying their dreams as they moaned in peace.

And there he stood, in front of a tree, thinking about everything that had happened. The Umbreon who was known as Kyurex.

"Damn IT!! HOW??" He hit, with all his force, the tree in front of him, leaving a mark. He walked from one point back to another, pondering about what had done wrong.

Long story short:

He had visited the Battle Corner that day and agreed to participate with Blaze, wanting to test his skills against some new opponents. Being who he was, he was quite confident about the whole thing and was convinced he would win no matter what. His turn came, and he was chosen to fight a Slowbro.

The battle started quite well, Kyurexs speed was something that his enemy did not have but, in the end, he lost. The only thing he remembered was one powerful water gun, followed by a direct Body Slam. Kyurex, who had never lost a battle in his life, was defeated by a simple strategy. He couldn't live with it.

"How could I lose?!!!!! HOW!!??" He shouted, knowing that nobody could hear him. For the first time in his life he felt weak...and it was something he detested far more than anything else. He couldn't be weak, he needed to be the strongest, it was his biggest dream to become the Champion of the Gold Tournament, pretty much the title of the strongest Pokemon alive.

"Was all my training for nothing? Did I....just waste my time? I did what I could, I wasn't sloppy and still....ARGGHH!!!" He hit the tree again and again, as he had done so for the past hour. This feeling just wouldn't go away.

And on top of everything he had lost in front of a crowd. Everybody was watching him back then plus it was during normal daytime. Blaze even told him that he had seen his former friends, Flak, Sruliana and Revy visit the Battle Corner. There was no doubt that even Bulltreio, even Cage, and even Jessica had seen him lose. Not to mention his girlfriend had also seen it...

His situation with May stayed as it was. No, not true. It got even worse. During their warm up that morning he went through a unpleasant argument with her, which had actually messed up his mood before the Battle Corner, but that was no excuse.

Fact remained, he was the loser. A plain, weak, loser.

"Screw this...I need to get stronger...I want to, I will no matter what. Never again will I lose I SWEAR!!" He hit the tree one last time, scrapping of the last pieces of bark on that place. He lay himself down.

"I've got to do something....but what?"

He let his mind find peace, knowing that he couldn't let something as small as this destroy his reason.

He then remembered the old man, and what he had been told that day at the pond.

Use it. Use the power to your advantage. That's what I would do.

He closed his eyes.

I have to...use the power...somehow, make something good out of it...

Time passed quicker then he thought.

Use the power...

"Huh? Here? Again...." Kyurex stood up, shaking his head. The whole horizon was pitch black, just like last time, and anything in existence, especially the forest around him seemed to be made out of a glowing, blue light. It looked beautiful actually, but Kyurex knew who dwelled here.

"Hehehe...What's the problem this time?"

The Umbreon turned around, recognizing the evil looking beast behind him. Revan.

Kyurex gave it a thought.

"Remember that day when we saved Jess? Where I, or you, used those exotic kind of moves? I was kind of hoping-"

"Forget it kid. That stuff is hard to master." Revan said, jumping onto a nearby tree. He carefully watched Kyurex, who wasn't going to give up that easily.

"Look, I want to be strong, I want to be the strongest...and I know you didn't learn those moves just like that. You attained them somehow...I might not have any clues on how you did so but come on, I need your help...."

Silence took over after which Revan eventually smirked.

"You know...." He licked his paw. "I'm beginning to like you more and more kid."

"Does that mean you'll help me out?"

"Who told you that?"

"Well..." Kyurex fell silent. He knew he had no influence on his evil companion what so ever.

After giving it some time, Revan jumped down, standing in front of Kyurex. The Umbreon wasn't afraid, he knew that if Revan wanted to do something to him, he would've done so already with minimum effort.

"Look..."

Revan place his paw on the ground before Kyurex, and after some seconds, a creature appeared right in front of his eyes. It was rather small, and seemed to be confused, not moving or anything. A Weedle.

"A Weedle?"

"Idiot, I said look."

Revan watched Kyurex observe the new creature, but the Umbreon couldn't figure out what he was supposed to see.

"What? I don't see anything..." The Weedle just merely turned his head now and then, not trying to escape or anything.

"Uhh.." Revan shook his head. "If you can't sense it, then you won't see it."

"What am I supposed to sense?" The Umbreon asked, still looking at the bug type.

"Feel his aura, his so called energy...can't you see its what makes you a Pokemon?" Revan said, sounding strict. "Look closer and try to feel the energy he sets free...this takes some time to master, so I'll make it easier for you now."

Revan held his paw above the Weedle, letting some strange, blue, energy fall upon the small bug. The Weedle stayed the same, but was now glowing with the blue color. It seemed like his body had been on fire, and now blue smoke descended from him.

This was probably the energy Revan had wanted Kyurex to see.

"What did you exactly do?" The Umbreon asked, acting curios.

"Just increased his Vi level...I'd say he has now more Vi then an Arceus."

Kyurex eyes widened.

"Wait...that's a joke right? I mean, Arceus...the creator? I think he has double as much power as all Pokemon put together-"

"Stop listening to fairy tales Kyurex, use your own mind...now lets get back to our previous topic. I assume you see the Vi surrounding the Weedle now?"

Kyurex observed the Weedle once more, noticing that he was now nibbling the dark grass next to him.

"Yeah...that smoky stuff-"

"Good. Do you know why it looks like that?"

"No. Whats Vi anyway?"

Revan smiled. He pointed his paw at Kyurex.

"Unnggh!! What the hell!!?" Kyurex felt like something was being ripped out of his body, making him feel weak. The pain caused his front legs to give in. It eventually stopped, and Revan stood beside him.

"You experience it every day kid, you get tired when you run out of Vi, and give into your sleep. You use Vi to give substance birth which you then use, what you prefer to call "moves". Just being awake requires Vi...its the energy, the POWER of your soul. That, is what makes you a Pokemon."

Revan proceeded to lick his paw. Kyurex got up.

"Okay...I think I got that one." He really didn't want to experience something like that again. It was really unpleasant. "But...how am I going to get stronger by knowing this?"

"You won't. Well not directly, anyhow..." Revan said. "But this is something basically nobody notices, except psychic Pokemon, their moves mainly revolve around disrupting and using Vi. Their own, and Vi inside of others."

Kyurex was now really curious.

"How do you....know about all of this stuff? It's the first time I've ever heard about it..."

Revan smirked.

"I was once as eager as you were to become stronger...and strength comes with knowledge. I figured it was important to understand the background of our power that we are gifted with. It took me quite some time back then, but once I could apply this knowledge in battle, it was funny to me how weak everyone else around me seemed." the evil beast explained. "Remember the fun we had back then, when you wanted to save your friend?"

"Yeah..." Kyurex briefly remembered the vast amount of power he, or Revan, had used back then. It didn't seem real.

"Do you think I could've released that much Vi in such short time just by using my own?" he asked. Kyurex thought about it.

"You mean didn't use your own energy?"

"Of course not, why would I waste my power on some puny weaklings?" Revan sounded kind of offended. Kyurex was amazed. So much power, and it wasn't even his own.

"Look kid, why do you want to get stronger?" Revan asked. For once, he sounded interested.

"You saw it too I guess...I just...can't lose, I hate it...There's nothing worse than losing after you devote all your effort to become strong. It's...really..."

"Hahaha...you're sounding like me when I was, lets say, your age."

Kyurex hated it when Revan compared him to with himself. It sounded like that the evil beast was implying that Kyurex would also become like him, and that was obviously something he didn't desire.

"You didn't lose because of your skill, you were faster, more intelligent and even more powerful than your opponent."

"Then why did I lose? This just makes it even worse..."

"Because you didn't fight to KILL."

Silence. Kyurex didn't quite comprehend Revans saying. He had to fight to kill?

Revan came closer, sitting down.

"You heard me. You just fight, thinking all the time what you have to do, analyzing the opponent. It's not wrong, but you'll only win with luck that way."

"You want to tell me all those battles from before I only won because of luck?"

"No....but I think I'm probably not lying if I say that the Slowbro was your first, true opponent."

"What?"

"Kid...violence is a sin already, is it not? So why only go half the way? Why allow yourself only to HARM the enemy? Why? It'll make it a lot easier if you learn to kill. Theres nothing wrong with that..."

Kyurex shook his head. This was totally against his morals.

"I don't know why you have so much hatred towards pretty much all living things, but killing is just wrong!!"

Revan laughed, and Kyurex couldn't do the same.

"I'm not telling you to actually DO IT. I mean I would, but I understand from where you're coming from. You only have to fight with that motive, once you defeat the opponent, it won't be a fight anymore...and you won't have to really kill him. But victory will be yours kid..."

"No...that's...that's not what I was taught - I can't possibly-"

"YOU IMBECILE - ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME??!! SHOWING MERCY IN BATTLE IS THE SAME AS LOSING!! KNOW THAT!!" Kyurex endured the pain he felt from the incredible amount of pressure. Revan pushed his head against the ground. Rendering Kyurex helpless. The rage coming from Revans voice made the atmosphere around them thick. It was like he was using energy to speak, with the most evil and fear driving tone Kyurex had ever heard.

Revan pushed even more.

"DO YOU THINK I'M A JOKE YOU WORTHLESS PIECE OF FLESH? YOU COME HERE, WHINE ABOUT BEING WEAK, AND DARE ACT LIKE A WHIMP IN FRONT OF ME????!! KNOW YOUR CURSED PLACE MORTAL!!" Revan growled. Kyurex watched the Weedle that was peacefully eating grass now burn with a red flame, vaporizing into the air. The grass around them also seemed to burn up, and eventually everything in existence turned into a glowing red.

Revan calmed down, letting go of his prey, and everything gradually returned to normal.

"Woah...now that's a good method to teach something." Kyurex stood up, shaking his head.

"Fighting is used to achieve victory, it is based on violence, violence is a method of inflicting pain, and pain means certain damage and total damage equals death. If you want to be strong kid, you will have to fight to kill, that alone makes you tenfold stronger. If you don't want to follow this basic rule, to follow your instincts, then don't come here ever again asking me why you can't win. Ignite the Fire of Death in their hearts...and no one shall ever defeat you."

Kyurex thought about it.

Somehow...this dude is right...

"Give me your honest answer. Do you want to win?" Revan asked, sounding as serious as ever. Kyurex knew there was no point in lying. He cherished victory. It was his goal.

"Yes."

* F L A S H *

The Umbreon experienced a blackout and in an instant he was seemingly teleported to a familiar place.

"What the-?" He jumped, evading a powerful water gun.

What the HELL??

He was at the Battle Corner again. This was something he already lived through earlier that day, he didn't understand how it was possible. The Slowbro he had fought against was right in front of him, the audience was cheering, the sun was shining the Narrator was shouting. This had all happened...he remembered it. That water gun was the one that helped the Slowbro win.

"Our Umbreon seems to be puzzled!! Has Collus's attack amazed him that much?" The Machamp shouted.

Kyurex smiled. He stood about 5 meters away from his opponent, who opened his mouth.

Kill...

There was another blast of water that erupted from the Slowbros mouth. Kyurex didn't give it much thought, simply jumping out of the way while running towards his enemy. This was much easier then before...using the method Revan had told him to. He really wanted to beat the living hell out of his opponent.

Another water gun didn't help the chubby Slowbro at all. Kyurex instantly pressed himself against the ground, smiling, and as soon as the attack had passed and the Slowbro wondered where his enemy was, Kyurex leaped at him.

"Gargh!!" The Slowbro waved with his arms, but missed the Umbreon because Kyurex, after delivering the blow, didn't hesitate to jump off, landing behind the Slowbro. Blood ran down the water Pokemons neck. That was fast.

"Eat this..." Kyurex charged up energy in his mouth, and before his enemy knew it the water type received a powerful blow right in his face.

The Slowbro fell on his back, immediately trying to get up. Before he knew it, Kyurex was on top of him. Out of fear the water type released a bubble beam, but the Umbreons reflexes helped the dark type out.

"Huh!" He moved his head to the side, charging another Shadow Ball. He loved this move...simple, and effective.

"Arrgh!!!"

Kyurex released, facing his enemy. There was no denial now, he had won. Only this final blow.

* FLASH *

Before he could enjoy his victory, he experienced another black out.

"Uh??" Kyurex opened his eyes. Trees, normal grass....silence....

"Hmm...I'm back..." He looked around, standing up. He looked at the tree in front of him, noticing the mark that helped him remember why he was here in the first place. He looked at his paws.

No mercy in battle....fight to win....

His adrenalin meter calmed down...and he felt, good. Much better than before. He grinned, feeling somehow, evil, as he did so.

"Hehe...Thanks..."

(oh, and let me be honest, I'm kind of getting that overwhelming feeling to gain more exposure....meaning that I love writing this series but, it's not really showing me as a writer because...well it's just one thing....and I'll also be honest that - my motivation is fading again, but thanks for all the support you've been giving me. I really appreciate it.)
