Preview from another world
Come my child, I have a story to tell. A story told of many great hearts, those of pure and ill intent. Like many stories it tells the tale of the bond between friends and family, sex and love. But it also holds the events of violence, greed and lust. Like many stories, this has a beginning, a beginning that takes place long before our time. Earliest records state that in the year 2055 the galaxy was at the brink of war. The human race had become too abundant, and had begun to colonize other distant worlds. In the process this destructive race had slaughtered and enslaved many other races. Many of their own species did not agree or take kindly to the enslavement, but the planets refused to give up what they had struggled to obtain. As a result, the human race attacked each other. Nuclear weapons rained upon each world, clouding the sky and killing all in its wake.
Several years of bloodshed and disarray finally brought the survivors together, and formed a union. However the damage was done, the events of the war could not be erased and had scared the planet to its core. The great spirit of each world, cried in pain as they burned. They had become damaged and weakened. To ultimately survive and start over, each of the great spirits joined together. They combined into one, to survive as a whole. They formed the Great Spirit known as Yuma. Yuma then reached out and banished the humans, far away from the worlds in which they destroyed. With the destructive race gone, and nothing but their ruins left, Yumi started again.
She began thinking, looking over all of the species of creatures that was once looked over, and taken care of. Went through all of the knowledge that had been collected from the spirits that returned, sifting through the information, thinking. When the body dies, the life essence, the spirit returns to the planet to be reborn. In exchange the spirit gives the planet all of their knowledge and experience. Yumi used this knowledge to create that in which she took pride. A hybrid of the human race as well as many of the species in which used to live on the planet Earth. Anthropomorphic is what the humans had called it.
However she had given them a great gift, that which was a blessing, as it was a curse. She had given each one a hidden ability, that which would grant power only thought of in dreams. Some which were only used by the will of the individual, and some that were passively active at all times. Some could call the power of fire while others had higher reflexes. The ability told others of what kind of individual that person was, their abilities depended on who they were as a being. As powerful as each gift was, each had its curse. Yumi had done this so that each person had a weakness that could be exploited, so that maybe they could better protect themselves, yet be removed if deemed necessary.
Aside from the weakness from one to the other, each ability was tracked and monitored by a select few. They had many names, which varied greatly, though the name Utaga was used most. Utaga roughly translated to 'regulators' in some human language. It was their job to watch over the populations, and remove those that commit great crimes against the Great Spirit or otherwise. The Utaga's where the most powerful of them all, but the only had pure intent. The Utaga's were assisted by the Kubai, they were the second most skilled with their spiritual abilities. Kubai roughly translates to 'Spirit Watcher'. The Kubai like the Utaga oversee and protect the population to a more general degree.
However the day-to-day work fell to the Guardians, mortals compared to the Utaga and Kubai. But they were very skilled and acted as the 'police' of sorts. The Guardians were feared by those of ill intent and respected by those who did not. However events had taken place in which one of the Utagas had went astray, and had defected for his own reasons. He was consumed by rage and fear, yet no one knows why. He went about freely and killed many, both good and evil. His hate drove him to attack his own people, the people that had raised him. His mother, father, brother and many others who called him their own fell. He was then given the name Nero, which means 'Death'.
Only a handful had escaped, among them was Nero's sister-in-law and nephew. Nero's nephew would become the downfall of Nero someday. However that is not the story for this time. Several centuries after that fated incident the population began to use the technology of the old, as a baseline. They began creating new versions of which was once used between the years 2000 and 2055. The look of each creation was either identical or similar, though was different in its own way. This new technology would help them against another dark threat. After thousands of years the humans returned, unchanged by their long disappearance.
The humans sought to reclaim which was once theirs, planet by planet. The humans were baffled by the new creation, which Yumi had given birth to and gave them the name of Furries, due to their appearance. They began to take each planet by force, slaughtering millions in their wake. The few planets, which remained, sent out the best they could muster. Each planet had their own military force, though never once considered using them. Many of their soldiers were only volunteers, throwing their lives into unknown danger to protect those they loved.
The fighting took place everywhere, space, land, sea and air. It didn't matter the results were the same. The human's technology far surpassed anything that the furries had. What was left of the great-unified army centered their power to protect one planet, the planet that was key to the access to the rest. The battles raged day in and day out, blood spilled through the streets. The individuals who fought became unified as one, and became known as the Skulls. Despite their best efforts, the war was decided by the last three days. The unified army retreated, broken and beaten. Only one spacecraft and 500 Skulls were left. But the damage was done both ways.
The humans no longer had the number of soldiers needed to wipe each planet clean. So they occupied the remaining planets and continued on to their goal. They had the intention of taking the planet called Pantherna, a planet that once held a different name. Earth. It is here that our story begins, 20 years after the Great War. Our story follows a band of heroes and thieves. A unlikely bunch that would soon bring peace and freedom to their people. As well as unify two different worlds.
