A Life Worth Living - Chapter 3 - Slip of the Mind

A new character is introduced here. Hopefully all of you aren't uber confused because as it goes on it makes more sense.

"Hey, remember when we went to the water park last weekend? It might be good for you if we head up there again, you know? Just hang out and have a good time."

"What? Water Park?" I said after swallowing a mouthful of French toast. "I don't remember going to a water park."

"Come on stop playin around. You remember, it's when we got kicked out for the day for high diving off of the waterslide. Do you really not remember three days ago?"

"No, I honestly can't remember. What was the name of the place?"

"Wait, you seriously don't know?"

"I, I don't know. It's like it's somewhere, in my head, but something is blocking me from remembering."

"Well, maybe you'll think of it in a little bit."

"Yea, probably. I think I'm gonna go get some fresh air." I said, rising from the chair and heading for the door.

I walked, because flying only reminded me of who taught me how to, and the pain was still too great.

I wound up heading into town. Still being early in the morning, it was too soon to head to a bar, so I wandered to a food court near a small park.

"Can I get a cola, light on the ice?"

The cashier silently took my money, got my drink, and gave me change while staring at me the whole time. Feeling uncomfortable, I quickly found a seat and took a sip. I looked back at the cashier, but find the silent panther was now replaced with a light brown dingo. She looked my way and before I realized it she had caught me staring. Rather than looking away awkwardly I smile at her and waved in a slightly over exaggerative way. She giggled and returned to the customer at the counter. I turned my attention to the park and lost track of time and dozed off. I was awoken when someone laid a pair of paws on my shoulders

"Helloooo there!!!"

I was so startled that I jumped up and fell out of my seat and even knocked over the table. I looked up from the ground and saw a pair of big, brown eyes looking back at me.

"Whatcha doin down there silly?" The dingo asked cheerfully.

"Ummm, I dropped my pocket and went to pick it up." I replied sarcastically.

She did that cute giggle again as she reached out her hand. I took it and stood up, chuckling and fidgeting slightly with my hair.

"Here, let me help you with that." I said, putting the table back upright.

"I just finished my shift and don't have any plans today, so wanna hang out with me?" she asked, tilting her head and making her eyes big.

Damn it why did she have to be so friggen adorable.

"Well, you already know I can't say no to that."

"Ohh yay thank you!"

She bounded off towards the mall as I followed after her.
