#3 of Secrets Within

I sat of the chair next to the couch watching Emiley sleep. Tears started to fall down my cheeks. I growled at myself for showing emotions but I didn't care. I hadn't seen her in ten years and I've hid my emotions for far too long. I let my hand flow through her hair lightly. She mumbled something but without my canine ear I couldn't tell. I heard a scratching sound however. I jumped up straining my ears. I walked towards the back door and looked out the window. After a few moments of silence I dismissed the sounds as a leaf, but just as I was about to go back to Emiley a furry human jumped up at the window. I fell backwards scared. I squinted my eyes and saw it was Jason. "Jason... what are you doing here?!" Jason is a timber wolf and he was not my best friend. I opened the door and was blown back by the forceful wind.

Jason growled at me and then tackled me. I quietly screamed hoping I wouldn't wake Emiley up. Jason's hot breath hit my face as a grimace spread across my features. "I know... I know... But I don't care if you all are starving! I will not let you kill her!" Jason closed his muzzle and stared at me with accusing eyes. Amber, Jason's mate, jumped through the door and over us. I heard her yelp in pain and a thump on the floor. "You know Amber, darling, you shouldn't change that violently." Amber stared at Jason with loving eyes and a bright smile. "I don't care. I want a piece of this jerk and I don't feel like making a mess." Thunk. Amber's eyes crossed as she fell forwards. Jason whimpered and jumped in front of Amber before she hit the floor. He shook and shivered as I looked up to see Emiley staring at me with a baseball bat in her hands.

I leaped up and grabbed her. I shoved her behind me, protectively and didn't let go of her. "If you ever come here again, I'll make sure both of you are falling on the ground. Jason, now holding his wife picked her up and ran out as a human.

Emiley was crying frightened behind me. I spun around and held her close to me. Like I had in the woods, I said, "It's ok Emiley. I'm here and I will never let them get to you." She looked up at me and asked, "What were they?! How did you know them...?" I winced at the question I knew was coming. I led her into the living room I had snuck into so many times before. "Like I said... I'd explain everything to you. I guess it's now the time to do so."
