DEATH IN THE TIME BAY: PART FIVE

"Where are you taking us, officer?" Scott asked, wondering what the officer meant by 'witnesses.' The officer merely shook his head and continued walking. They exited the Time Bay, the bright sunlight making Scott squint, an electric carriage passed by on the street nearby, making a low humming noise. Everything looked so normal, most of the passing anthros probably didn't even know that anything was wrong. Then everything changed in a heartbeat. There was a low crackle, and Scott felt his fur stand up even more, the air was suddenly full of electricity.

The officer froze and quickly turned, staring back into the Time Bay in horror and fascination. Scott turned as well and immediately wished that he hadn't.

Something was crawling from the Machine, and Scott felt a light fluttering feeling in his chest, he had felt it earlier when the Machine had first docked, it was the feeling he got when he was seeing something that shouldn't have been possible, yet there it was, in clear defiance to his own personal laws of existence.

One of the time travelers was standing, blood dripping from his many wounds and pooling on the floor. Scott blinked, then another one of the time travelers sat up and began to climb out of the Machine. The officer moved forwards, drawing his gun.

"Get back!" He cried, but the time traveler merely took a step forwards, a gash in his neck causing his head to flop back and forth. The officer raised his gun and fired a shot into the time traveler's leg, the bullet smashing the kneecap and causing the time traveler to crash to the floor, splattering more blood in a grotesque spray.

It was a wound that no anthro should have been able to get back up from, but the time traveler did just that, limping forwards with his useless leg trailing behind him.

"Kill him!" Shrieked Scott in panicked anxiety. The officer stepped back three short steps and fired four shots into the time travelers' chest. Again the anthro fell, but again it got back up.

Faced with no other choice, the officer raised his gun even higher and fired his last shot into the time travelers' head. Scott looked away, then heard a yell and opened his eyes again. The second time traveler had caught up to the officer while he was reloading. The officer tried to resist, but the time traveler forced him to the floor and began to bite.

Panicked, Scott fled the building as the reanimated time travelers began to spill out of the building, catching and swelling their ranks with reanimated pedestrians as they went. And that is how, ultimately, the zombie plague engulfed London.
