By human reckoning the year is 2112, a full 100 years from what has been called the "Day of Reckoning" for humanity. On that day in December 2012 the Xenophone, an alien race that refers to its as the Craft Masters, invaded the planet Earth. They were welcomed at first.
When the Xenophone first arrived they made the image of Jesus Christ appear over every nation and proclaim that the time of Revelation had come and that the angels of God had come to take the blessed to heaven for their final reward. Flying saucers then flew with impunity through all of Earth's skies abducting people as they pleased. It wasn't until they landed that the truth was revealed.
According to the Xenophone, the Earth is their world and humanity is one their creations. Odin, Zeus, Ra, Yahweh and Allah were all names they used in the past to control humanity for their own purposes. If the stories can be believed life on this planet was broadcasted throughout the galaxy for the entertainment of better beings with billions of humans living and dying at their discretion for their amusement. But around the year 2012 the viewers and producers were starting to get bored with the project and wanted something new.
Parts of the middle east and Asia were attacked and devastated, with China and North Korea becoming smoking craters of radiation that are still uninhabitable today along with the oil producing nations of the Middle East and Israel suffering much the same fate. Africa, Europe and the Americas were spared this tragedy but had to find other means of running their lifestyles without oil which ended up causing riots as solar, nuclear and other means of providing energy had to pick up the slack. But when the next phase was put in place many would think that those millions upon billions that perished in radioactive wastelands were the lucky ones.
Two things happened simultaneously upon the surviving nations with the first being a new sentient species arising that combined the DNA of both humans and animals and the other being a virus that spread like wildfire through all the colors of humanity equally. Humanimals as the new species came to be called are a biologically engineered as the replacement for humanity by the Xenophones. The virus sterilized most of humanity and caused natural sterility in a full 75% of all human births since.
Unfortunately even with these changes the aliens were not satisfied as beamed some sort of ray into graveyards all over the world that caused the dead to rise. Human and humanimal alike where hunted and eaten by the dead with some humans becoming infected with yet another virus that would first kill and then reanimate the victim as a member of the walking dead. Fortunately for us humanimals, this virus is very similar to the virus that causes sterility in humans which we were designed to be immune to.
All this happened in a single month's time 100 years ago and has not gotten any better for humanity. It would seem that fate has finally dealt humanity a losing hand at the card game of life. They are not going quietly into the eternal night of extinction but the writing is on the wall.
With the dire straights that all of humanity is being put into it should come of no surprise that tyranny reigns. Humanimals are second class citizens at best if not actively persecuted but we endure and patiently wait for the swan song of humanity to reach its crescendo. Males still dominate even though fewer of them are being born and females that are still fertile have their lives made easier and more oppressed as they are now seen as little more than baby factories with non-fertile females seen as excessive population to be disposed of in various ways.
Cannibalism has become fashionable as non-fertile females are seen as having few other uses for the good of society. There is an alternative but it is not considered proper since a sterile human female can become fertile by sleeping with a humanimal. She will turn into a humanimal herself but she will become a fertile member of our society.
As one might expect laws were made making this illegal but as the number of humanimals has largely eclipsed humanity by now, their laws mean little to us as a matter of course. To those humanimals who read these words in our modern world I give this advice: Endure and for the most part avoid humans as much as possible. Let them seek us out and there are plenty that will.
Most of these will be sterile humans who fear being cooked and eaten by their own families or being used as sex slaves. Granted we use them as sex slaves ourselves, but we aren't going to eat them or at least we don't hunt them for food, scavenging dead bodies is one thing. Don't hunt humans!!
I repeat: DO NOT HUNT HUMANS!! The consequences are not worth it. Cook dead ones thoroughly if you want to scavenge their corpses but no predation for our own sakes; there are plenty of human communities that will try to hunt us down as a food source as is, we don't need to justify it.
Zombies are no friend to us. They will eat you as surely as they will eat a human. Watch out for Xenophones as well.
If you haven't already met one let me give you a description of how they make themselves known to us outside of their craft. They appear as giant spheres on spidery legs all in metal. No known weapon has been able to pierce their armor; so don't even try it.
