#7 of The Chronicles of James Travant

Tanya smiled and finished watering her plants, her humming coming to words; she sang a cheerful song in soft tones.

Smiling and twirling around before setting the watering jug down and opening up her patio door to let some fresh air in, she laughed as the Finch came fluttering in to twitter and chirp at her.

She pet its head, "Boy it's nice to have some other company. Not that you aren't great..." She whistled softly to it. "But I haven't had so much fun... in such a long time, he..."

She lowered her voice, blushing and hoping he wasn't listening in. "He makes me so happy, you know? I worry about him every day while he's doing his job, praying that he'll be safe and sound. I normally wait on the couch or the bed waiting for his call to hear the proof that he made it through another day."

She giggled, "I'm acting silly ain't I..." She held out two of her fingers and the finch jumped onto them.

"We'll let you say hello and goodbye to Travis before you leave." The finch flew into the bedroom and landed Travis' knee.

She smiled, following to look in on him, "Need anything hun?"

Travis smiled, leaning against his upper legs as he sat on the edge of her bed and watched the Finch hop around on his knee.

"I'm alright." He replied quietly, shaking his head, his bangs fell into his eyes as he looked up. "No need to worry about me."

Tanya stared at him for a moment and shook her head with a light clearing of her throat and smiled. "All right, have fun with our little friend." She turned on her heels and walked into the kitchen, the sound of water eventually coming on and dishes beginning to be washed and soaked filtered through to him in the bedroom.

Travis spent a few more moments regarding the small bird on his knee before it opened its wings and fluttered away. He smiled as he looked up to watch it go, pushing his bangs back up out of his eyes.

Guess I should put some effort into moving if I'm ever going to... He slowly pushed himself off of the bed and came to his own feet, he paused a moment to test his balance, then stepped forward and out of her room.

Walking quietly, he took a moment to look himself over, T-shirt torn and ripped, jeans faring about the same, plus the dried blood on the bandages and his skin; he admitted to himself that he looked a pathetic example of humanity at that point.

He found the door to the kitchen and stepped through, crossing the room and reaching out to place a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"Maybe I could help?" he asked as she turned.

She looked up to him with a bright smile and nodded. "If you are feeling well enough, sure... if you'll let me I'll change your bandages after... they can't sit... the blood can cause blood poisoning and infections. Deal?"

She smirked as he agreed, and handed him a dry towel. "You can dry, the less movement you have to do the more comfortable it will be."

She shook the water off her hands into the sink and moved around. "If you are feeling up for a little stretching, the plates and saucers got up in the cupboard in front of you, and the one to its left is for the cups and such. You are standing in front of the silverware drawer which is next to the cooking utensil drawer. Last but not least, the pots and pans go in that corner cubby down below. That is only if you can manage it, if not just put them in the strainer and I'll do it later on."

She lightly patted his back, looking at him with a smile on her face for a short while before taking the dish cloth and beginning to scrub a plate. She liked spending time with him; even this day to day task seemed to be brightened into something sort of enjoyable with him around.

"So, how's your life going? Got a girlfriend yet?" She laughed and gently nudged her elbow to his.

"Still as single as ever, but you knew that already." He glanced her way and gave her a smile as he reached up to put another dish in its place, then reached across her for a rinsed one.

Tanya laughed, "I'd figured. What kind of girl would let her guy spend this much time with another... 'specially one as..." she paused for the effect and grinned as she looked at him with a wink. "...as sexy as I?" With a laugh, she went back to the dish in her hands.

Travis smiled. "I'd never dispute that."

She giggled a bit. "Find any good places to hang out around 'ere, you've become a regular to the Aegis district, so you must have found Molly's, it's a good place, but a little rowdy. I don't get to go much anymore, and I love the arcade, call me childish, but hey... I love games." She smirked and passed him a dish, "At least I get some action with a gun for once... my job is so boring."

Travis put the dish away and went to the next one, "Yeah, I found a few places to hang out, Molly's is actually pretty good, but you're right, it's a bit rowdy, and I've always been a child of the arcades."

She looked at him, "Wow... another adult who loves the arcade. Wonder why we hadn't met earlier on."

She handed him another dish and began on the silverware, the only thing left to wash. "With your help, washing dishes didn't take that long at all." She saw a small tinge of pain hit his face as he was reaching up to put the dish away.

"You know... I never knew anyone that would risk their own wellbeing for mine. What the fuck were you thinking?" She brought her fingers out of the water and flicked water at him with a chuckle.

Travis smiled and shrugged his uninjured shoulder.

She set the silverware into a place holder on the tray to dry and turned around to lean back on the sink, drying her hands with another towel. "I'm glad I have a friend like you, next time you make me worry, I'll be sure to smack you. And don't forget it."

She winked and her smile grew sensual, and it went well with her natural sparkle in her eyes, almost as if she were glowing with happiness.

"What now, you are up and about... you want to take a shower, lounge around on the couch? I don't mind anything you want to do; my house is your house."

Travis finished drying his hands and leaned one hand against the sink, smiling warmly despite his injuries.

"I didn't really have anything in mind..." He replied, realizing he was standing rather close, but not backing away. "How about you?"

Tanya turned to rest her hip against the sink, and setting the towel on the rack behind her. She realized how close they were; she relished the chance to be close to him... instead of pulling herself away from the pleasant company.

She looked to him with a soft but subtly shy smile. "I don't know, sick of movies yet? I'll let you pick, or we could watch TV. I've even got a few books in my collection, I'm game for anything, oh yeah... I've got a few video games, some two player some not."

Travis reached up and brushed his bangs out of his eyes again. "I don't have a real preference." He smiled. "Truth be told being in your company is good enough for me."

Tanya brushed Travis' arm with the tips of her fingers her gaze following their trail, "You are so sweet to me. I can't say that I don't love to be around you either, why not join in for some healthy competition? Racing, fighting, puzzles? I am in the mood for a fighting game to be honest."

Travis chuckled and brushed the back of his hand against her cheek.

"Well, I suppose I could button mash for you for a little bit, unless it's the original Tekken and such I'm pretty well garbage."

Her eyes had closed as her cheek was brushed with the soft warmth of his hand and a soft pleased smile appeared on her face. She couldn't hide how good it felt to be treated with such sensuality. "Tekken, I haven't played that in forever. And for good measure and fairness I'll let you pick the game. After all I play all my games, so I'm used to them all, fairly at least."

She lifted her hand and brought it up to grasp his and looked into his eyes, "Come on, Hun." Her voice was smooth and alluring. Walking backwards keeping her eyes on him as she led out into the living room, she led him to the couch without incident, and before she sat down she pulled him into a hug. "You sure you are okay, right? You aren't just putting on a show for me?"

"I'm fine." Travis replied, squeezing her gently. "Really."

He paused for a minute as she released the hug, and just as she started to pull away he leaned in and kissed her, a soft, quick kiss that brushed her lips before he pulled away and settled back.

She stumbled back, a look of pleased shock written plainly across her face, that was until a hum of satisfaction and a more lustful lick of her lips replaced it.

"Wasn't expecting that, I guess we both know how the other feels, at least. Suppose I wasn't that good in hiding the fact as you were." She rubbed the back of her neck nervously and smiled as one of her bangs fell from behind her ear in front of her eyes in a few strands.

"You still game... or... what?" she let her last words linger, the next play was for him to make, she was game for anything about now.
