The Woodland Visitor Pt 9

Help From The Past

Sienna looked down at me. "I think you need to go visit her."

I grabbed her and pulled her to me, "I'm sorry I didn't tell you."

She rested her chin on the top of my head and gently stroked my hair. "I forgive... now you forgive."

I pulled back and looked into her eyes. "Who do I need to forgive?"

She placed her fingers over my heart. "Yourself... Visit friend."

"I don't know if I can."

"You strong... need to visit... need forgiveness... she love you like me... she forgive... help you heal."

"But..."

"No... you strong... not afraid anything... she wait for you... you visit her."

"I wish I was that strong."

"You help me... I now help you... you love her... need to talk... she listen... I wait... I love you too."

I pressed up against her again. "I will soon."

She pulled me away and held my head between her hands so I was looking right into her eyes. "Tonight... visit her tonight."

I lifted a hand that was shaking so much I almost couldn't control it. Placing it against her cheek I watched as she tilted her head into it. I stood up and wrapped my arms around her and held her tight. "I love you so much." I whispered just before I kissed her on the top of her head.

"I love you too." She whispered back as her arms tightened around me.

I slowly relaxed my grip on her but never released her. She leaned up and gently kissed me. Leaning into her I kissed her back showing her how much I did love her. Slowly separating we just looked into each others eyes for a minute before Sienna turned to Steve and Doc Travis. "Others are waiting... hold tour for you."

"You mean their waiting for us so they can take the tour?"

"Yes."

"Then shall we go. We don't need to keep them waiting any longer." Doc Travis held his arm out to Sienna. She smiled and took his arm as he led us out the door and back to Sienna's house.

The rest of the day we toured the town showing my friends the sights and pointing out places of interest. When we got back the sun was an hour away from setting. My heart was beating fast when Sienna came up to me with my backpack.

"You go now... not keep waiting."

"I can't do it."

"Yes you can... she need you... you need her... talk... feel better for it."

Everyone sat there watching us including Brenah.

"I'm scared."

"Why?"

"I'm scared of what I might find out."

"She no hurt before... she no hurt now... talk... feel better after."

I looked down and slowly took the pack from her then looked into her eyes.

"Three candles... light all... one in front... one each side... she come to you."

"I will. I love you."

"I love you too." She grabbed my arm and steered me towards the door. Opening it she turned me and gave me a kiss. When I drew back she smiled. "Now go, not be late. I wait for you to return."

I turned and walked out the door. As the door closed I heard Brenah ask, "What was that all about?"

"It's a long story." Doc Travis replied as the door closed.

I turned and thought to my self as I walked down the road and into the woods. "And it's a story that I need to end."

An hour and a half later I was standing at the edge of a clearing. There was a stream running through it and next to the stream was a green patch of grass. I slowly made my way over to the grass and stopped before I entered. In the middle was a small hill about three feet wide and eight feet long. At the far end sat a flat piece of rock standing straight up in the ground. 'I love you' was the only thing that marred the flat surface of the stone.

The pack slid off of my back and I pulled out the three candles Sienna had put inside. Turning back I took a step onto the patch of grass as I remembered the day I wrote those words.

Setting down at the other end of the hill I set the candles down like Sienna told me. I did this only because she asked me to. I guess she figured it would calm me down some. I lit them and set there trying to relax and figure out what I was going to say.

I didn't know how long I was setting there when this feeling of love and relief swept over me and I felt a hand on my shoulder. I slowly turned and my mind went numb. Standing before me was a human female. I looked into her eyes, eyes that had haunted me, eyes that were the major subject of my nightmares. Only this time there was relief and love in them.

"I knew you would come." I heard in my head.

"I almost didn't. I didn't know if I could."

"All that matters is you're here now."

"I'm so sorry."

"For what? It wasn't your fault."

"I didn't help you." I said as tears slowly rolled down my cheeks.

"You couldn't help me, I know that. Now you need to see that and find peace."

My head dropped down. "I can't find peace."

Her hand lifted my chin up until I was looking right into her eyes. "Yes you can. You just have to let it go. There's someone who now needs you as much as I did. Don't let your love for her suffer."

"How did you know?"

I felt her laugh. "You forget, you gave me your heart. I know. Besides I've been with you since I left."

"I never wanted anyone to take your place."

"I know, but if you think about it, you'll see she didn't take my place. She took her own place. I will always be there."

"I just don't want to loose you."

She sat down in front of me and gently placed her hand over my heart. "You will never loose me as long as you think of me. I will always be here. Just don't place me above her. She needs you now more than I do."

"I just hate that I couldn't help you."

"I know you couldn't and I feel bad. I never wanted you to blame yourself all these years. I waited for you so I could tell you that but you never came."

"I was afraid to."

"As Sienna said, I never hurt you before, why would I hurt you now."

"I know, and it wasn't you I was afraid of. It was me."

"Now you know and you can come back to me whenever you want. I do miss you but I want you to move on. Sienna can give you the life I wanted for you. Let her do that."

"I will and I will come back to you. I promise you that."

"As long as it's only like this and not buried beside me."

"I Promise."

"I know you want to avenge me. And I also know that no matter what I say, it won't change your mind. I want revenge too. If I can't go with you, I will help you."

An hour later I watched as the figure slowly faded. "Remember your promise. Come back to me."

"I will, as soon as I'm done I will be back."

I stood up and blew out the candles. Picking up my pack I left the clearing. There was one thing I had to do before I went back to Sienna. So with a confidence and fury I never knew could exist I turned around and began my final mission.

It was close to four am when I got back to Sienna's house. As I walked up to the front door I saw that there was a light on in the kitchen. Quietly I made my way in the front door and saw several people sleeping around the living room. As quiet as I could I made my way into the kitchen to see four people setting around the table.

Setting my cases down I wrapped my arms around the doe that came running up to me.

"I love you Sienna."

"I love you to Tom, I love you so much."

I pulled her back and just stared at her, that was the second time she spoke in a complete sentence. Not in bits and pieces like she usually did.

"Tom... Ok?"

I pulled her back to me and held her tight. "Yes, I am now."

When I released her I turned to find Steve, Doc Travis and Brenah watching me. Steve was the first one to speak. "What's up?"

"I have one final mission to attend to. I need your help."

"Sure, what are we doing?"

"We are not doing anything, I need you to get me a chopper to transport me somewhere in six days."

"What are you going to do?"

"The less you know, the better you are."

"Steve stood up. "Bull shit, you don't tell me, then I don't help."

I reached over and placed my hand on his shoulder. "Please, I need to do this alone. I just need your help getting there."

"At least tell me what you are going to do."

"Revenge."

I heard Sienna gasp and turned to her. "I have to do this. If I'm gonna find any peace within myself, I have to do this."

She wrapped her arms around me and I heard her say, "I know, I'm just scared for you."

"Don't be, as long as I have you here, I have something to come back to. And I promise I will come back."

She stepped back and watched as I put the first of two cases on the table and opened it. Inside, nestled in a foam lining sat a sniper rifle. I picked it up and looked at it. It looked the same as the day I packed it swearing I would never touch it again.

The M-107, .50 Cal. Sniper rifle, guaranteed to stop anything it hits, and this one never missed. My hands caressed it and held it for a minute before I returned it to the case.

Closing that one I picked up the next case. Inside this one was Tanya's assault rifle. A tear ran down my cheek as I picked it up. It was her pride and joy. Now it just sat there. But this time it would extract revenge for me. "This one's for you, love." I whispered as I put it back into the case.

The last thing I did was opened the pack that Sienna gave me. Reaching in I pulled out a plain brown envelope with Sienna's name on it and set that aside. Then I reached in and pulled out a large pistol. It was a .50 cal automatic. Reaching in again, I pulled out the silencer that went with it and attached it. Slipping the magazine into it, I set it down and pulled out the three knives that I always would carry.

Picking up the envelope I turned to Sienna. "I plan on being gone for five days. If six pass and you still haven't heard from me then open this envelope. It tells what I plan to do and where I can be found.

Over the next five days I continued to make plans for my assault. I covered every possible scenario except one.

While I was planning how I was going to complete my mission there was another team of highly skilled personnel planning how they were going to stop me.

"I don't know how he did it but he found Dark Wolf. The informant told me that he is planning one final mission."

"We have to stop him." A second person said.

"But we don't even know where he's going."

"Yes we do. The informant was able to find this out and forwarded this to me. I know where he's going to be and what he plans on doing."

"Then we can stop him before he makes a fatal mistake."

"I don't know where The Black Wolf got his information but I checked it out and it's accurate."

"How are we going to get there?"

"My informant arranged for transportation for us along with whatever we needed. It will be waiting for us when we get there."

"It's settled then, we stop him before it's too late."

"Yes, we need to stop him."

It was still dark out when I closed the front door of the house and melted into the woods. It was showtime and I was ready.

One hour later I parked the car and walked over to a chopper that was setting beside a large hangar. I spoke to the pilots briefly giving them coordinates to drop me off at and then telling them that their work would be done after that. Stepping into the chopper I waited for the rotors to turn and take me to my destiny.

Near another hangar, fourteen shadows climbed aboard two choppers that were waiting to take off. With everyone loaded they anxiously awaited the signal telling them to go.

In front of them on the other side of the airfield a single chopper rose up fifty feet and hovered facing the group. It flashed its lights twice then turned 180 degrees and flew off.

On cue the two choppers rose and followed at a distance that would ensure they remained hidden from view.

In the back a computer screen came to life and displayed a map with a red dot clearly displayed. One person could be seen hunched over it as he searched the surrounding area.

"I've got it." He said into the mic and fed the coordinates of a nearby landing spot to the pilots. They immediately adjusted their course and picking up speed flew ahead to the landing zone.

I watched the pilots skillfully drop down and jumped out when the wheels had hit the ground. Before I reached the edge of the clearing it had already lifted off and was disappearing over the trees. Turning I ran in the opposite direction as fast as my legs would carry me. I needed to be in position before the sun came up.

Topping the mountain I scanned the surrounding area and found a spot a quarter of the way down that would work perfectly for what I needed. Looking again I didn't see anyone around and breathed a sigh of relief.

Slowly I made my way down the hill and began to set up my position.

Shadows moved up to the top of the hill and stopped looking down at the setup below. Quickly analyzing the situation they turned to their mission.

"I've got him." Someone whispered.

"Where?"

"Three hundred meters at eleven o'clock"

All scopes turned that direction and a figure could be seen setting a large rifle into place. They watched a little bit until he climbed behind the rifle and began scanning the grounds of the compound below.

At that time they pulled back and planned their next move.

I settled in behind the sniper rifle and took in the layout of the compound. "Damn, I wish I had a spotter. It would be a big help." I thought. For the next six hours I drew out every detail of the compound. Where every building was, every guard post, every crate and drum was included in the drawings. I wanted as much detail as I could get. When that was done, I took a little cat nap as I awaited darkness again.

I woke up and resumed scanning the compound. An hour before sunset I watched them change guards. It was a bad mistake on their part, good one for me. When I strike the last shift will have just gone to bed and this shift wouldn't have their vision completely adjusted.

Smiling, I continued to scan the compound.

Midnight had just come and gone and I had finished my plans on how I would assault the compound when a hand came around and clamped itself across my mouth. Another hand wrapped around my chest and drug me away from my rifle.

As I was getting ready to swing a fist at my attacker, another one grabbed my arm and held it tight while a third grabbed my other arm. As I was pulled back I saw a figure slide in behind my rifle and take up where I left off.

I was hauled back a good ways when I was suddenly thrown on my back. Before I could move there was a large pistol placed right between my eyes. I just stopped struggling and awaited the inevitable.

"I am surprised at you Dark Wolf." Came this female's voice. "We're not going to let you do this."

The pistol was drawn back slowly until I could see the face of the person who held it.
