#1 of A Pokemon's Reward

Greetings Everyone, friends and whatnot! Alright...how do i start this off again? Been a while. Anyways, this is a story that a friend, Repede, and myself have been writing. This is the reason why Pleasurable Pokemon hasn't been written, for those who don't bother to read my journal. Also, I've done you all a favor, this story, being as long as it is, has been split into 3 parts. So, you won't have to deal with such a long read.

Credit time! Repede (of course, who else) for helping me write this, accepting my invitation to do this, and for just being there. (Cheesy....but someone's got to say it.) Well...that's it really....just Pede...and the Pokemon Series for actually supplying us with the pokemon. Well, that's all for now, enjoy the read. ^^

It was a cool, breezy morning with multiple clouds hanging in the sky, blocking out the sun and its rays of warmth. The overcasting clouds lingered across the sky, slowly drifting towards the mountain ranges of the west as they floated along with the warm mid spring winds. The air carried the scent of fresh blossoms and flowers, the trees and plant life in full bloom.

The heartlands of Hoenn were in the midst of the beauty, with flower fields and thick forests for as far as the eye could see. Towards the center of this was a bustling town known as Mauville, a city of bright lights and entertainment, home of the regions gaming corner as well as many other attractions, making it one of the most lively cities in the entire region.

Many young and aspiring trainers and business people alike roamed the streets of the city, struggling to get to their destinations through the usual early morning bustle of the many people heading to work or to travel.

Amongst these various citizens of Mauville were two trainers searching for the exit of this endless human traffic. Both were struggling through, going against the flow and being bumped and pushed backwards. Accompanying these trainers, also having a hard time fighting through the crowd, were a tall yellow and white electric type pokemon and a much smaller fire type, both dodging the endless wave of people trying to keep up with their trainer.

After struggling countless minutes in the dense crowd, both trainers along with the two trailing pokemon, an Ampharos and Quilava, stopped for a small breath; being that so many people in one area made it hard to even get a small gasp.

"Talk about some morning rush hour, eh Cole?" one trainer asked bent over with his hands on his knees, catching a breather. He had on black jeans and a white shirt with red covering the end of the sleeves and going down the sides. The short black hair on his head was pushed back, removing any trickles of sweat that could have been produced through the stuffy traffic early.

"I knew we should have waited a couple more hours Malcolm, you just had to get over to the gym right after sunrise." The other trainer complained as he rubbed his hand through his medium brown hair, dressed in a loose blue overcoat that was unbuttoned in the front, revealing the white shirt underneath, wearing a pair of knee long shorts that nearly matched his coat, off by a couple shades of blue.

"Hey..." Malcolm started, quickly trying to capitalize on his outburst, thinking of a finisher. "...can't blame me for wanting to leave this town today. Already been here longer than I wanted."

The short hair trainer stood upright, reaching in his pocket and pulled out a small black ball with golden rings on the top and bottom. "I believe we're clear from here on out. Walking time, Ren." He tossed the ball in the air and a small black pokemon with rings on its ears, legs, tail and shoulders appeared. The dark pokemon sat in front of her trainer, staring up at him with a tuft of fur on her head that draped down past her left eye.

"Alright...we got everything, right Cole? Potions...Repels, Full Heals?" Malcolm questioned, transferring his attention to his trainer's bag at his side, sifting through it to see if anything else was needed.

"Wait Full Heals? You spent our money on those? Those things are bloody expensive!" Cole quickly let out. "How much do we have left?"

Malcolm looked up from his bag, letting out a silent gulp as everyone's eyes were pinned on him. "H-How...much? What...the money? Oh, of course the money. Um, we have...a little less than a thousand pokedollars. But don't get your panties in a bunch, I only bought three Full Heals."

Cole sighed and shook his head. "Well good, hopefully we'll get a fair reward at the next gym..." The trainer said, flipping open his Pokedex and clicking several buttons. "...in a couple days...three if we hurry." Cole continued as he looked at the map.

"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go!" Malcolm exclaimed, taking off in a light jog in what he thought was the direction to the next town. Cole reluctantly followed suit and followed him, his two Pokemon following him along the path.

The group ran down the dirt trail and into the northern forest towards the nearby mountains. "The trail should least is through..." Cole said, pausing to catch his breath as he ran, focused on the screen of the Pokedex. "...a small pass, we have a couple ways to go from there to Lavaridge."

Malcolm slows himself to a cruising walk, looking up at the cloudy sky. "I don't suppose you see any shortcuts on that Pokedex, do you? If not, then we're talking about a couple days worth of camping."

Malcolm couldn't help but spread a smile on his face, looking down at his Umbreon, who in turn was smiling back up at him.

"Shortest route I see is up the cable car on the other side of the pass, that should take us directly up the mountain and up to the plateau, just a small downhill trek from there and we should be there." Cole answered as he continued looking at the small screen, not noticing the smile that the trainer and Pokemon in front of him shared.

"That's the shortest route? Yikes...you make it sound like we'll be traveling for months just getting to the next town. You sure that's the shortest route we can take?" Malcolm said, turning around, walking backwards with a frowned face.

Cole looked over his Pokedex and frowned. "Not unless you like climbing cliffs or crossing deserts." The trainer bluntly replied.

"You know...sometimes I think you purposely take us the long way...just to see me suffer from walking." the short hair trainer commented, turning back around to the normal walking procedure.

"Look, neither of us had bikes so the long route last time was not my fault!" Cole shouted, folding his Pokedex up and putting it back in his loosely hanging coat pocket.

"Sure..." Malcolm lowly said in disbelief even though it was true.

"Umbre..." the dark pokemon spoke up. She began throwing out sentences and paragraphs, none of which the trainers could understand, going on about how they complain too much on everything. It was the same argument when it came to food at restaurants, which pokemon would be best in what situation, and now, what route was the shortest.

The Ampharos behind Cole sighed a little with a light chuckle in agreement with the Umbreon ahead of itself. "Amph...ampha amph." It commented jokingly, saying it was because that's how males acted with each other.

"Lava!" The Quilava shouted out, giving an annoyed look up at the Ampharos, telling her to stop insulting Cole.

"I'm so glad I understood every word you said. That makes my life that much easier." the short trainer joked, raising a brow with a smile to his Umbreon. In return, the Umbreon let out a low sigh, wondering why she even spoke in the first place.

"Well they are girls, they tend to do that a lot." Cole carelessly said, earning a glare from each the Pokemon which he quickly noticed. "Sorry, sorry."

"Quil..." The Quilava sighed out, a little disappointed that he said that right after she stood up for him.

"Shame on you, Cole." Malcolm said with chuckle to follow. "But I must point out that you get 'the look' from the ladies around you, Mr. Suave."

Ren couldn't help but give her trainer a small growl after that comment, taking such a serious look and turning it into one of his many jokes. She turned away, taking away any opportunity for anymore jokes that could be used.

"Yeah, yeah, they'll get over it." Cole let out, missing the point of Malcolm's joke entirely while his Quilava just rolled her eyes, the Ampharos meanwhile chuckling to the joke, the only one besides Malcolm to find any humor in it.

"Anyways, walking isn't going to get us to Lavaridge any faster. Let's pick up the pace!" Malcolm yelled, taking off down the dirt path with no one trailing behind him.

"Umbre..." Ren stated, shaking her head at her trainer's naive state. Not once did Malcolm look back to see if anyone was following him. It wasn't until he was out of sight when Ren decided to go after him, showing him that no one was running with him.

Cole watched the Umbreon run off and slowed his pace a little, both his Pokemon looking at him questioningly, wondering why he wasn't running after him with the Umbreon. It wasn't until he reached into his pants pocket did they know why. "Well better call her while the reception's still good..." Cole let out as he flipped open the small Pokegear he brought with him from Johto.

"Quiiilll..." The Quilava groaned out with an annoyed look on her face, glaring up at her trainer as he clicked through the screen on it.

"What? It'll just be a moment, don't get your panties in a bunch Lavie." Cole said as he dialed a phone number on it.

The Ampharos walked up beside the Quilava and tapped the top of her head, catching her attention. "Amph amph-aro ros" She said, suggesting that they should trail on ahead of Cole while he made his call.

The Quilava sighed and nodded, springing ahead of Cole with the Ampharos shortly following her, leaving Cole to himself as he looked at the phone, not noticing that they left him for a few moments until they were a fair distance ahead of him.

"Those two sure are energetic today..." Cole said to himself, thinking nothing of it as he waited on his call.

Meanwhile, far up ahead on the dirt path, Malcolm was sitting against a tree trying to catch his breath after running such a long distance. His attention shifted from the sky to the Umbreon that was walking towards him, shaking her head. It was easy to figure out what she was shaking her head at since he ran such a long distance without anyone following him after insisting that everyone runs with him.

"What took you so long, Slowpoke?" Malcolm asked with a small smirk.

"Umbreon!" Ren snapped, calling him an idiot before sitting before him.

"Hey...not my fault you can't keep up." the trainer joked. He reached over to his dark pokemon, scratching above the tuft of fur on her face.

"Umb..." Ren started, trying to defend her speed. She quickly lost her sentence, engulfed in her trainer's fingers. "...bbbrrreee"

Of all the places on her body, above the tuft of fur was her second favorite spot. She nearly melted under his fingers as the pleasure rode throughout her body. Her legs were getting a bit weak from the treatment.

Malcolm noticed something approaching from the corner of his eye, abruptly ending his treatment to see what it was, much to Rens discontent.

"Oh well, fun's over." Malcolm stated but tilted his head at the absence of Cole. "Or....it's just beginning. Time for some three on one action." Malcolm chuckled at his joke.

"Ampha!" The yellow Ampharos waved as it ran along side the smaller Quilava towards Malcolms direction, both Pokemon quickly rushing over to where he and Ren were resting. They both slowed down once they neared the pair, both turning their heads to see no sign of Cole still.

"No Cole?" Malcolm asked still looking behind the two newly arrived pokemon, searching for a trainer.

Both pokemon turned to Malcolm and just shook their heads. "Qui..." The Quilava breathed out in a disappointed fashion.

The Ampharos meanwhile just turned and smiled down at the Quilava, patting her head as she caught her breath. "Ros ampha amph." She cheerily said, telling her not to worry about it.

"So...just one guy...and three girls. Rather...interesting if you ask me." Malcolm said commenting on the situation. "Quick question though, how far back is Cole?"

The Ampharos and Quilava looked at each other for a moment before turning back to Malcolm, the Ampharos just shrugging to his question and the Quilava having a rather sour look on her face. "Lava qui quilava..." She muttered, saying he was probably a ways back, knowing how he was with his regular phone calls to a certain someone in his life that she hated.

The Ampharos laughed a little in agreement and rubbed her neck, nodding a little to what the Quilava said, knowing that their trainer was probably going to take awhile.

Malcolm shook his head, knowing that tone from Lavana a little too well. Judging from the tone, Cole was on the phone with his girlfriend and he was going to be a while. "Well...what should we do while we wait, hm, ladies?

Lavana and the Ampharos both shrugged, willing to just follow Malcolm should he take the lead, having known him for a few days now from traveling, also knowing that Cole would eventually catch up with them after he was done.

"Umbre!" Ren shouted, receiving an idea. "Breon!" Ren started pulling on Malcolm's pants leg with her teeth, trying to get him to stand up.

"Trying to pull my pants off? You naughty little thing!" the trainer commented. He stood up on his feet, dusting the dirt off his pants. "Well...it's probably close to noonand Cole will be all day on that phone. So...I suggest--"

"Umbreon!" the dark pokemon exclaimed. She could have sworn she had an idea to begin with. "Bre umbre umbreon!" She began pointing up further up the dirt path with her right paw, saying that they should progress on a bit further into an open area for the next step of her idea.

"That's the best idea I've heard so far. Now...in English this time." the trainer said, crouching down to his pokemon's level.

The Ampharos quickly stepped on ahead, going a few steps down the path and pointing down it towards the mountainous pass ahead. "Ros! Ampharos!" She exclaimed, pointing in the same direction down the trail that Ren had been pointing in, trying to carry along the message for her that they should move on.

"Hm...moving on? Sounds good to me but...we're just going to leave Cole?" he asked, looking down the opposite path of the trail.

"Quilava." Lavana let out with a huff of breath, walking over to the Ampharos's side with her head raised up and eyes closed, clearly not minding the idea at the moment. Ampharos looked down the path and back at Malcolm, nodding firmly in agreement that they should move on ahead.

"Well...no objections? Then off we go. Who knows, we might be able to find an open an area and have a little fun." Malcom said, taking the lead down the path.

"Umbreon?" Ren asked in a seductive tone.

"Yes, my naughty little pokemon, we just might play 'Umbreon'." Malcolm joked once again. Ren began to blush, knowing what he was referring to.

"Ampha?" The Ampharos curiously let out, wondering what exactly Malcolm meant by that.

"Umbre umbreon." Ren stated, telling her not to worry about what he meant.

The Ampharos just nodded softly and continued following Malcolm's lead, trying to avoid thinking too much over it. Lavana barely paid any mind to it, her mind currently elsewhere as she walked.

Malcolm chucked and looked down Ren with a small smirk on his face. "Don't spoil it." He again teased, "You know, if we run then we'll have that much more time with each other." Malcolm continued, picking his pace up a little with those words.

Ren picked up her pace, taking off down the road, hoping that would get everyone to follow after her. Surely enough, her plan succeeded as Malcolm began running after her, followed by the Ampharos and Quilava whom quickly tried to match his pace, the whole group running down the path once again to their destination.

Finally, the group arrived at a small clearing in the forest after about half an hour of light running, coming to a stop once Ren paused in her tracks and looked around. Judging from the scent, it was a fairly common place for trainers to stop by, but there wasn't any sign of any recent passers by in quite sometime.

The Umbreon smirked a little and turned her head back towards Malcolm, getting several ideas in her head.

"Well...good spot, Ren. Let's just hope it doesn't rain on us...wouldn't want you three to get...wet." Malcolm placed his bag on the ground, unzipping it and pulling out a long metal tin. "Hm, out of berries. Looks like I know what I'm doing tonight."

Ren's ears perked up a bit at that statement, knowing how long it takes for him to pick berries thanks to certain circumstances. "Umbreon?" She said with a small smile, asking if they could go now. She wagged her black tail in delight, wanting to trek with him to get berries.

"If you're asking to leave now to get the berries, then...how will Cole find us?" Malcolm brought up.

"Bre!" Ren lowly cursed, not thinking that part through. The open field was a good spot for staying for the meantime since it's hard to miss but trekking deeper in the forest would make it that much harder for them to get Cole to find them.

"No need for that. You can wait to collect berries till tonight. No need to rush. Speaking of collecting, would any of you two like to join us?" the trainer turned to the two pokemon standing beside him.

"Ampha!" The Ampharos cheerfully let out with a raise of her left arm, wanting to join them, having been curious about everything the two had been speaking of most of the time during the trip.

Ren was shocked at the joyful response coming from the Ampharos. She felt like she should tell the yellow pokemon what really happens during berry picking but she didn't know how to explain it. Instead, she shot a glare to Malcolm in disbelief that he would ask one of Cole's pokemon to join in the 'berry hunt'.

Lavana meanwhile shook her head and turned around, laying down on the grass as she kept her eyes on the trail, waiting for Cole to return.

"So you're not joining us, Lavana?" Malcolm rhetorically questioned. "Well...you're welcome to change your mind at any time."

"Umbreon!" Ren shouted, growling a bit afterwards towards Malcolm. What was he doing, inviting more pokemon to the hunt? She thought that was their time to be by themselves and do what they pleased. Besides, how are they supposed to do anything with an Ampharos following them.

"Oh don't get upset. I can't just have you going all the time. Berrypicking is a rotating job between Cole and I...even if I do it most of the time." the trainer informed.

The dark pokemon turned her head away, refusing to believe anything her master was talking about. If it were up to her, she would only go with Malcolm but it seemed she didn't have a say in who assists who in campfire jobs.

The electric type looked between the trainer and his pokemon, her expression drooping a little as she let out a nervous laugh, getting a certain vibe that her company wasn't at all welcomed by a certain party. "Amph...ros ampha..." The Ampharos said, crossing her two paws over one and other on her white belly as she repeatedly bowed her head towards the trainer and Umbreon in apology for asking to go with them

Going off of her expression, Malcolm could easily figure what she said. "No no, Chelsa. You're fine but are you sure you don't want to join us?" Malcolm asked, hoping to get the yellow pokemon to change her mind.

Chelsa looked between the trainer and the Umbreon once more then shook her head, noticing the expression on the pokemon's face. "Ros." She replied before she bowed one last time and turned away, joining the Quilava in waiting for their trainer.

Malcolm folded his arms in disappointment, letting out a low sigh. "Alright then." was all he said before turning to his dark pokemon. "Way to go." He sarcastically whispered.

The Umbreon shot a glare at her trainer for a small moment before turning away once more. She saw nothing wrong with what she did. She just clearly didn't want company while with her trainer in search for berries.

The short haired trainer returned to his bag, sifting through it. Nothingness filled the air as it was awkwardly quiet aside from the various items being pushed around in the bag. To occupy himself, Malcolm pulled out his Good Rod, resting it on his shoulder.

"I'm going to find some water, catch a few fish, at least until Cole catches up. Feel free to join me." Malcolm announced, walking off.

The Umbreon strolled along side her trainer, having nothing else better to do, while the Ampharos and Quilava remained behind near the trail. Malcolm peeked over his shoulder, seeing the two pokemon behind and continued walking.

"If Cole catches up, you know where we are." Malcolm called out. An audible response came from the pokemon behind him, confirming his message.

Malcolm nodded to himself and continued into the forest, also wanting to get a feel for the local area as well. Both trainer and pokemon trekked into the forest silently, neither exchanging any words between one another as casually walked.

They both only needed to travel a short distance before the forest began clearing up once again with a bright shimmering light coming from across the edge of the forest. As Malcolm and Ren drew closer, they saw what they had been looking for, a medium, almost crescent shaped lake.

Malcolm sat down on a small patch of dirt after removing his socks and shoes, resting his feet in the coolness of the water. He held the rod above his head, flicking his wrist to cast the hook far out in the lake. He let out a sigh as he stared at the still bobbin in the water.

Ren, on the other hand, couldn't relax as easily still a little upset at her trainer's hidden offer towards Chelsa the Ampharos. She was sitting next to him, staring at the clear, yet reflective liquid, questioning a lot of things.

"What's your deal, young lady?" Malcolm asked, still focused on his bobbin. "With Chelsa, why won't you let her come with us to collect berries?"

"Umbreon umbre!" Ren answered, turning her head towards her trainer. She threw extended sentences from her mouth, all bouncing off Malcolm. She explained her reasoning behind her actions, saying how that time was practically the only time they get together and he knew what they did during that time.

"If you're thinking that I asked her to join us because of what we do during our hunts, then you're wrong. I just simply asked to see if she wanted to join us. Besides, I need more hands to help out than you. We can only bring back a few at a time and that lasts barely for two days. With Chelsa, we can carry a bunch more." the trainer informed.

Ren was completely wrong on her end. She thought that he wanted something more from Chelsa but it turned out that he was just simply asking for extra help. She felt so stupid now for assuming that of Malcolm. Her ears dropped as she drew herself closer to Malcolm, licking his arm as a sign that she was sorry.

"So, don't worry about anything, alright?" Malcolm said, finally turning his focus to his Umbreon's ruby red eyes. "Besides, if I wanted to do it with her, I'd be trying a long time ago. That's Cole's pokemon, I'm sure he can satisfy their needs."

Ren rested her head on her trainer's lap, letting out a comforted sigh. She rolled her eyes over to the slightly bouncing bobbin in the water, waiting for it to sink under, signal that something had been snagged on the hook. When the fish came out that water and on land, it would be hers to feast on even though she had a big breakfast earlier.

A half an hour had passed and nothing was happening; no pokemon had showed up nor did the bobbin move from its position. The short hair trainer let out a small sigh, upset that nothing was happening but enjoying the peace floating in the air. He shifted himself a bit, trying to get comfortable but a sharp tingling sensation ran up his right leg.

"Alright, missy, you're going to have to get up. My leg is starting to fall asleep." Malcolm informed.

Ren turned to look up at her trainer then down at his leg, her temporary pillow. She smiled at the idea entering her head, starting to sit up now. She placed a paw on his thigh and pressed against it, laughing to herself as her trainer gasped at the tingling feeling rushing up his leg.

"Hey!" Malcolm shouted. "What do you think you're doing, young lady?"

"Umbreon?" Ren innocently cried with a smile still on her face. She pressed both paws against his leg and slowly began walking them up his leg from the base of his thigh, causing more gasp from her trainer.

"R-Ren s-stop it!" Malcolm laughed, gripping his fishing rod hard. He had no defense against this action since he need both hands to hold the fishing rod. He tried everything he thought of from flexing his leg to taking his hand off the rod for a small second to swat Ren away but nothing had work, especially the swatting since Ren just returned to continue the process.

Finally, Malcolm got the idea to stand up, the quickest way for feeling to rush back in his leg. He let out a sigh of relief, as he could feel the sensation leaving his leg. He reeled in his line, seeing that he obviously didn't catch anything. He waited a bit until he could feel his leg to lean the rod on his shoulder and turned away from the lake.

"Let's head back now. I'm sure Cole's caught up by now." Malcolm suggested, strolling back in the direction he came from. "If not, I'm breaking that PokeGear." Ren gave a small chuckle followed by a shake of her head, cruising beside her trainer as they exited the area.
