Wrath

#1 of Seven deadly sins

I open my eyes only to be greeted by complete darkness. I look over to see the faint light of the far off clock that read 5:30. Another half hour till mothers comes to wake me up and about another fifty minutes till I actually decide to wake. I roll over on the couch, also known as my bed, and close my eyes, trying to fall asleep. Sadly sleep doesn't come to me that easily and I'm left with only my thoughts of yesterday to pass my time. I begin to think about Jack and that race I kind of forced him into. I remember after the race we had walked to his house, but sadly nothing "exciting" happened. It was more like two friends having fun than anything else, although some kissing was involved, but I had a great time. Jack is a great guy and we have a few things in common, even if we differ in countless ways.

The beeping of Mothers alarm clock snaps me from my thoughts as it signals the most dreaded part of the entire day: waking up. Mothers door opens and I can hear her steps as she makes her way toward me. "Buggy wake up." Mothers voice is half asleep like always at this time. I give my usually groan as a response then listens as she leaves to her room. After hearing Mothers close her door I grab my cell phone from my nightstand and start to write a text to Jack. Get up! Don't be late again. I'll be waiting for u at the entrance so don't keep me waiting.

After fifteen minutes of waiting for my hot wolf to reply, I give up on him and start the morning routine: grab clothes, shower, brush teeth, then wait for Mothers to finish getting ready. I checked my phone after completing each activity and still no reply from Jack, he better be awake, least he can do is say good morning or give me someway to confirm he's awake.

Mothers emerged from her room and without a word she ushered me to the car. After the doors shut she turned to me and I knew what was coming, I really don't want to deal with this right now. "So Vincent, who is this new guy that is texting you constantly and whose house you went to yesterday?"

"His name is Jack and he's a great guy." I really don't like talking to her about this kind of stuff, it makes me feel so awkward. I kind of feel that being gay has crushed every dream she had of me in the future. To make it worse I know she's about to give me the "I'll always love you" speech, which really is just an attempt to make it seem alright although nothing is actually wrong.

"Well just be careful and sure he's 'the one' before getting serious. You don't want a repeat of what happened with Kyle."

"This is totally different than it was with Kyle. Plus that was a long time ago anyways. We're good friends and we get along even if he's still a complete jerk." Why does she have to bring up Kyle? I hate talking about my ex, especially with my mom.

"I think I should meet this Jack. Your brothers work today and they both go to school afterwards. I think this is the perfect chance for us to meet. I'll pick both of you up after school, I'll talk with him, make something special for dinner, we can even watch a movie. What do you think?"

"Hmmm. I guess. I'll ask him when I see him." The car ride concludes and I'm so glad I can get away from her. I grab my backpack and exit the car, heading toward the front gate of the school. To my surprise I see a super hot gray wolf waiting in front of the school gates, wearing tight jeans and a tight blue shirt, contrast to my baggy jeans and loose red shirt that's under my gray sweater.

About ten feet from him and he barely notices me, greeting me with a large smile. "Hey Taco, you're late."

"I'm not late, you're just early."

"Whatever. It's all the same. Point is that I'm here before you."

"Ah...but...never mind. Let's just go." We join the small, inconsistent stream of students walking through the front gate. I grab his paw and interlace our fingers while giving him a smile. He smiles back then leans in, planting a quick kiss on my cheek. Sure a kiss on the cheek isn't much but it is more than I got from Kyle, who wouldn't even let me hold his paw at school.

I lead Jack to the spot that my friends and I usually meet up at in the mornings and, as always, they were already there in the middle of conversation, probably making plans for the traditional Wednesday soccer game today at lunch. Star noticed us then quieted Capt and Tom before turning their attention toward us. "Hey Taco. Hey Speedy. Good morning." Hearing the three of them speak at the same time creeps me out for some reason, adding in the strange actions and I think they're up to something.

"Morning." Me and jack respond at the same time. "Am I Speedy?" Jack asks.

"Course you are." Tom answered his question. "You did beat Star in a race. That's your new nickname and you better like it because that's what everyone is calling you now."

"Who the hell came up with a lame nickname like Speedy anyway?" Jack's tone was one of disapproval. I guess he doesn't like the new nickname I gave him. Oh well.

"At least it's better than being known as Taco's boyfriend." Star added in a good point, one that caused us all to laugh a little. The rest of the mornings conversation somehow turned into gossip about other classmates and then we were making fun of some of the teachers. The bell rang and the group split in two with me, Jack, and Capt going one way, Star and Tom the other. Homeroom and the first three periods passed by uneventfully, except that everyone started calling Jack Speedy including the teachers.

As soon as third period ended I rushed to Jack's history class to greet him. Star, who I just had class with went with me this time instead of heading to the library, or in today's case the soccer field. Just like yesterday Jack and Capt walked out of the class as if they were mad at each other. "Hey Jack. We got a treat for you today. We're gonna go play soccer." I try to seem enthusiastic, hopeful that this bad atmosphere goes away. Sadly it doesn't. An angry glare gets shot at me from Jack.

"Who the hell is Kyle?" I shoot an angry glare at Capt. I'm completely upset that he mentioned Kyle to Jack.

"Kyle is my ex-boyfriend that, apparently, someone is mad at me for dumping."

"Why haven't you told me about him?"

"We've only been going out for a day; I didn't think it was important. To tell the truth I kinda forgot all about him till this morning." At this point we were only a few inches from each other. Some bystanders started staring while others didn't seem to care. Star was scolding Capt, but the tiger didn't seem to care what the rabbit was saying. The wrath from Jack was cooling off, but as for Capt this was far from over. He was going to keep pushing Jack until he got the results he wanted.

"Whatever. I'm going to walk around the school alone. Have fun at your little soccer game. See ya." Jack walked away as I stood watching him, not making any attempt to stop him although every bone in my body told me to follow him.

Jack was long gone and now was the time to give Capt a taste of my wrath, no matter how mild it may be. "Are still mad at me for dumping Kyle? Why are still obsessed with the idea that me and Kyle are going to live together in love forever? It's not going to happen so let it go already and let me be happy with Jack."

"Jack? That lousy wolf isn't even good enough for. You and Kyle are a perfect match in every way. Why can't you see that? He wants you back and would do anything for you. He fucking loves you!"

"What the hell do you know? Kyle is the lousy one. He is an obsessed jerk that couldn't love me with all his heart because his heart belongs to a greater love of soccer. A sport! Who just cancels a date because they forgot their favorite team was playing?" Every time I think about that day I want to grab a soccer ball and stab it a few times before setting it on fire." Honestly, Kyle is a great guy that I've known as long as Capt. I fell in love with him and thought I'd be with him forever. Then that day came along and it was never the same afterwards.

"You just don't understand!" He's yelling now. I really hate it when Capt gets angry, his wrath has made him feared since elementary school. There is only one person I can think of that's scarier than Capt. "You'll never understand. You're the same as that bastard that dated Kyle before you." He did not just compare me to HIM. Kyle was bad but HE was a horrible jerk that is now serving time in prison.

The tension was dense and Capt was ready to pounce and rip something to shreds. A white rabbit, that totally could be easily mistaken for a boy unless you knew her, walked up to the angry tiger and hit him in the stomach with a punch that I could feel from here; yelling, "Baka!" as she hit him. Capt doubled over then fell on his knees in excruciating pain. "On my way over here I saw Speedy. He seemed mad and when I talked to him he started questioning me about Kyle. Taco you better go talk to him before lunch ends. I need to set Capt straight."

I thanked Tom then started my quest to find Jack. I had an idea of where he would be so I ran there, finding him at the spot that we spent lunch together at on Monday. I sat next to him and sat in silence, since there were no other students around we were alone which only added to the silence. He scooted closer to me and wrapped his arms around my body, placing a kiss on my cheek then on my lips. "I'm sorry." His words were soft, a hint of remorse in his tone.

"There's no need to be sorry. If anything it is Capt who should be sorry. What exactly did he tell you anyways?" Jack did kinda overreact to just hearing that I had an ex-boyfriend.

"He said that Kyle still loves you and deep down you still love him. Is that true?"

"I...still love Kyle, he's like a brother to me, but I love you more Jack. I want you to be my boyfriend, not Kyle." The bell decided that moment to ring, always ruining the moment. "If you still want me as your boyfriend then would you like to come over to my house after school?"

The gray wolf got up then extended a paw to help me up. With both us standing he gives me a hug and whispers in my ear, "Of course I still want you as my boyfriend. I'd be more than glad to go over." We went paw in paw off to class then to the classes afterwards.

Before sixth period started we decided that we would meet behind the gym, since Jack's last class is P.E., and that he would blow off Star's invite to join the track team. My last class, world history AP the most boring class ever, is on the other side of the school from the gym. I have Tom and Kyle in this class with me, both behind me, so this should be interesting. Kyle was already in the class by the time I got there. I sat in front of the white tiger that looks like he could be Capt's little brother, makes sense since they are cousins. "Hey Taco." he says quietly making him sound sad.

"Hey Kyle." I responded trying to mimic his tone. "Why you so sad?"

"Well, my ex-boyfriend has moved on and I have to admit that I'm a little jealous, but it's that jealousy that makes me realize that if I had tried a little harder that maybe we'd still be together." I always wonder what it would be like if he had tried harder, if had not missed that date leaving me alone that one summer day. "At least I get to spend time with him Friday." both of our expressions changed with that comment, his to happy and mine to confused.

"Friday?"

"Did you already forget the bet that we made seven weeks ago? That's just like you, you're so forgetful."

"What was the bet and what did we bet?"

"The bet was on who would win that soccer tournament we've been having. Today was the deciding game which you lost by default since you didn't show up. Since I won the bet you have to go on a date with me." This sounds familiar. I wonder how I forgot something so important.

"I don't think I should be going out on a date with you, I kinda do have a boyfriend."

"Don't think of it as a date then. Think of it as getting free dinner from your best friend then hanging out with him around the mall.." Tom walked in as the bell rang. Kyle whispered, "I'll text you later." hurriedly as Tom took her seat next to him. She would probably get angry if she caught us talking about going on a date. Her wrath really knows no bounds, that's what makes her feared throughout the school. The class passed by quick since the three of us fell asleep.

After the bell rang, waking me up, I got out and headed for the gym. I walked through the mobs of students, which is a pain with so many students that they practically form a wall.

It took at least two minutes to get close enough to the gym for there to be almost no students around. I turned the corner and, just my luck, I see Jack surrounded by a group of three lions. One of them I recognize from yesterday when he was gambling at the race, but the other two I don't recognize but all three look to be seniors.

The one from yesterday shoots me a death glare, probably trying to scare me away and doing a good job of it. "Hey Jack! Who are your new friends." I joke around trying to ease the situation.

"Taco go away." Jack said sounding frightened.

"No he's staying right where he's at." The lion from yesterday said, apparently the leader of the trio. "We wouldn't want to separate the fags." Of course some idiot has a problem with us and thinks violence is the best idea.

"Don't you fucking go near him." Oh Jack I love your protectiveness but it really isn't gonna help here. The head lion walks toward me and, of course, I'm frozen with fear. One hard hit to the stomach and I'm on the floor in pain. "Taco!" Jack rushes to my side, the two lions that were surrounding him are in position similar to myself. The leader forces them up and they're looming over us, their wrath practically visible.

"Your gonna pay for hurting my friends you little fag." The leader speaks while cracking his knuckles which only makes him scarier.

"I think it's going to be you three that pay for hurting our friends." A new, scarier voice says. The three lions move make and I look behind me to see the queen of wrath herself, Sara, a.k.a. Tom, and her sidekick Star. I'm so glad to see the two rabbits, enough not to care why they randomly appeared out of nowhere. "Now you three get out of here before I take my anger out on you." They did as she said and ran off, frightened by the scariest rabbit anyone could ever meet. I really don't know what Star sees in that white ball of wrath.
