#1 of Twilight Princess Epilogue

I finally did it, six years, six long years, six years after the long battle against Ganondorf; I restored Zelda and Midna to their thrones. Midna shattered the Mirror of Twilight, the only connection between the worlds. At first I was angry, I understood why she did it, but that didn't mean I had to accept it.

I searched the world for the proverbial back door to the land of Twilight. I studied the lore, legend, myth, superstition and fairy tales, whatever was connected. I traveled the world many times over; climbed summits, descended into dark abysses; scoured cities, explored ruins... I finally found it, another way into the Twilight.

I stood in an old ruin, before a solid arch, believed destroyed long ago, but by mercy of the Goddess only buried. I checked my supplies; a backpack with some food, water and a couple of potions, the Master Sword and shield, barely scuffed years of use, and a special bottle that holds the dark shard, which allows me to take my wolf form.

I turn and step toward the arch, beginning the ritual. The runes on the arch begin to glow, starting at the bottom and on either side of the arch, after each magical pass the runes higher and higher on the arch light until they meet at the top of the arch, lighting the last rune. A bright flash filling the room before the stone inside the arch fades into a film, the Realm of Twilight visible through its shimmer. I grab my bag, sword and shield, slipping the necklace around my neck as I move through the arch, stepping once again into the land of twilight.

I blink as my eyes adjust to the change in lighting, looking around at the temple plaza I find myself in. I look back at the arch, the runes glowing in that green glow, reversing the lighting in the runes until the runes are no longer lit the portal closing. Leaving an empty arch standing in the middle of the plaza. I regard the plaza, a pair of large stone doors to my left and a dark stone building to my right. The plaza looks run down with years of disuse, not a ruin but definitely not in use anymore. With a deep grunt and heave I push the doors open and survey the landscape around the temple. A small dirt path that connected the temple to a nearby road, a little ways down the road is what appeared to be a town. I smile and adjust my belongings as I start to jog toward town.

I slow as I approach the town, trying to appear calm and peaceful. Many of the Twili stop and regard me, an atmosphere of nervous apprehension permeating the town. I pull a picture I had commissioned of Midna, with help from Zelda in the detail. Began the process of obtaining basic instructions of the way to the palace, hoping that the difficulty of communication wouldn't cause too much of a problem.

After some general confusion, pantomime, and drawing in the dirt I finally got some rudimentary instructions of the way to the palace. Least I hope that is what they are, or some people may be in some trouble. I thanked him, nodding and giving a grateful smile before turning to make my way.

Once I reached the edge of town, I concentrated and touched the special bottle, closing my eyes and groaning in slight pain as I felt the magics war inside of me, the familiar pain coursing through me as my form was forced into that of a wolf.

I sniff the air, and quickly adjust to the shape, and with a quick shake of my fur take off at that easy ground consuming lope of the wolf. Time moves slowly in the Twilight, but my pulse quickens as I feel I am nearing the end of my search.
