Gym Buddies: Part Nine

I got up from the couch tentatively, clutching on to the cushion I'd been hugging last night. "Luke?" I called out across the hall, only to get no response. I ran to the suitcase and checked it. It was heavy - definitely packed beyond what it should be able to carry. I heard a rustling in the bedroom and opened the door. Luke was folding up one of his t-shirts and packing a second case. "Luke?" I whimpered, leaning in the doorway. He looked at me for a moment, then went back to packing his clothes.

"Hey," he said coldly. My eyes were welling up with tears again, so I dabbed them away.

"Erm... what are you doing?" I asked, referring to the suitcases. He paused and put the t-shirt down to look at me.

"I'm leaving, Dan," he explained. My insides squirmed and a cry escaped my lips as my tail tightened. I clapped my paw over my mouth to stop myself from shouting out, dropping the cushion as I did. I took a few quick breaths before questioning him again.

"Is it," I started, wiping yet more tears away, "is it because of me?" He nodded and picked up a pair of jeans.

"Partly," he said, folding the denim. "I was thinking about going anyway. There's a job opening up at a gym not too far from here. I'm going on trial as a trainer. I've been considering it for a while and after what you said last night-"

"Please?" I asked in a sad voice, "please don't go?" I let out a muffled whimper and bit onto my lip to stop from screaming. He sighed and put the folded jeans into the nearly full second bag. He looked at me sympathetically before returning to the case. "Wh-where's this gym, then?"

"I don't want to tell you," he said. I stormed up to him and spun him around to face me.

"Why not? Are you worried that I'm going to follow you? That I'm going to track you down and stalk you or something?"

"No, I don't-"

"Then what?!" I interrupted, my voice now at full volume. "What other reason could you possibly have for not wanting to tell me?!"

"Because I want to show you!"

Everything stopped as I let his words sink in. Luke rushed to the door, checked that no-one was outside and closed it. He walked over to my bed and sat on it, patting the space next to him.

"You... want to show me?" I asked, sitting down next to him. He placed a paw on the bed behind me and leaned in so that our muzzles were nearly touching. His hot breath tickled my whiskers, and his eyes looked deep into me.

"Listen, pup," he said warily, as if he wasn't sure how to say this, "I'm... I..." He paused and took a gulp of air. I placed a paw on his shoulder comfortingly, and he smiled at me.

"Go on," I urged him.

"I didn't tell you because I was in two minds about going. If I went, I'd never see you again and I'd probably get these feelings out of my system. But at the same time-"

"Feelings?"

"At the same time," he continued pointedly, "I'd never see you again. I'm glad that you told me, because... well, I love you. Maybe more than a brother should." I couldn't help but give a slight chuckle and smile. A tear of happiness rolled down my cheek, which he wiped away with his soft paw.

"You're not joking, are you?" I asked, unsure that this could really be happening. Luke placed his forehead to mine and nuzzled me. I shuddered with excitement and relaxed. My tail stopped curling from our argument and my paw fell onto his knee.

"I wouldn't joke about this," he assured me. The paw I left on his shoulder was now playing with the husky's fur, which made him murr quietly. I lifted my muzzle slowly, bringing his up with mine. Our noses were now touching, and I opened my eyes to see him. Luke opened his lips and kissed me, and I gasped excitedly.

His tongue softly wrapped around mine as he put a paw on the back of my head. My entire body quivered as the fur on our muzzles tickled each other. With his paw wrapped around me, he gently fell into the bed and pulled me on top of him. My arousal was obvious as it pushed into him, but that wasn't what caught my interest. He was excited by this, too. I giggled when I felt him push slightly into me. The strong husky pulled away from me and smiled. His eyes were now two deep pools that I could have gotten lost in.

"I love you, Luke," I whispered.

"And I love you, Dan." I groaned a little and fell into his body, hugging him tightly. "What's wrong?" I gave a shy smile and looked into him.

"Can you call me 'pup'?" My eyes were at their cutest, which Luke obviously picked up on. He chuckled and ruffled the fur on my head.

"Okay. I love you, pup."

I sighed happily. "I should pack," I said getting up. Luke pulled me back onto the bed and hugged me tight. "If you want me to come with you-"

"You are coming with me," he corrected me. "That's why I already packed your bag." I glanced at my wardrobe and saw that the door was open a sliver. Further inspection showed that it was empty save for a coat hanger and a few items I hadn't worn in years.

"Thank you," I said, hugging him as tightly as I could.

"What? For packing?" he asked, sounding thoroughly confused.

"No! You see," I explained with a sniffle, "I was really worried about what you'd say. I thought that you'd hate me." He stroked his fingers through my fur again.

"If you thought that, you're a moron," he said with a smile before bringing me into his body again.

"So when do we leave?" I asked.

"As soon as we tell mum and dad." I looked at him with shock, my eyes wide and panic-stricken.

"We're telling them about us?"

"You really are a moron if you think that," he snickered. "We're going to tell them that I've got a new job and it requires I have an assistant. You expressed an interest, so I thought you'd like the experience. I came up with it last night when you were asleep."

"Okay," I said, loving the story that Luke had conjured. "When do we tell them?" Luke smiled and pulled me back into him, his fingers playing with my ear.

"Let's just stay here a while," he insisted, his voice sounding as if he was drifting off to sleep. I didn't want to argue with this, so kissed his chest and rested into his soft, brilliant fur.

Mum and dad didn't mind our leaving, though they were clearly worried that we wouldn't be living with them anymore. Luke had told them that the position would only last the summer, but things might blossom into a career. I smiled when he said this, as we had no intention of coming back. They made certain that Luke knew to take good care of 'his little brother', and my smile widened when he told them he'd always be there for me.

The sun was setting on the warm Tuesday, making mine and Luke's shadows overlap as we walked to the car. He placed the suitcases in the back, we waved the family goodbye and got inside.

"You know," I said, "this makes you gay." He considered it for a moment.

"Well, I suppose... yeah, I suppose it does." I chuckled lightly, a hint of playful malice behind it. "What?"

"What about your policy? 'No gays allowed in the car without paying the toll'?" I quoted him word for word.

"What's the price?" A smile stretched across his face and he inched slowly towards me. I moved to him so that our noses were nearly touching then stopped.

"Information." He pulled back in a mock pout and relaxed into the seat. He looked expectantly at me. "You said that you left the other gym because it didn't give you enough exercise. So why are you going for another trainer's position?" He sighed and leant across the steering wheel.

"I was getting enough exercise," he explained. "Actually, you could say I was getting too much exercise." I gave him a confused look. "I was giving... 'overnight training sessions' to some of the clients." My jaw hung low in amazement and I started laughing. "Shut up, it's not funny!"

"Yes, it is," I argued. "So, what... you were caught screwing in the gym and they asked you to leave?" Luke shook his head.

"You're nearly right," he explained. "I was caught, but I was given a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again. They started keeping an eye on the pool room, so I had to find a new hiding spot - which was how I got locked in the changing rooms." After a pause, my face crumpled in disgust.

"You didn't! Not in the showers?!"

"I was alone in there and I was horny! What did you expect me to do?" I struck his arm lightly, making him laugh. He copied me, and soon we were wrestling in the car amidst a fit of giggles. Soon we stopped, our muzzles catching against each other. Luke let out a small chuckle under his breath. "It was kinda funny, I guess."

"So they caught you in the gym and gave you a warning?" I asked.

"Yeah," he nodded.

"Well then," I said as silkily as I could, "we're going to have to be careful in our new gym, aren't we?" Our breathing became heavy with excitement and I pulled him into another kiss. "I love you, Luke."

"I love you, pup," he said softly.

"So let me ask something. If we're going to be in a new place where no-one knows us, what are we?"

"What do you mean?"

I giggled nervously. "Well, are we brothers? Are you my boyfriend? What do we say if anyone asks?" He thought about it for a moment, turned the key in the ignition and smiled at me as we pulled out of the driveway.

"'We're gym buddies'."
