#1 of Flare

Flare is a seven foot tall dragoness. Her scales are red, other than down her stomach, with is black and continues to the end of her tail. She has only one wing, the other one retracts when she doesn't have a master. This was the way she was raised. She was trained to have a human master who she would fight with and defend during wartime. The humans that there clan worked with were at war again, and now it was time to be chosen. Flare had never been chosen before, she was different. Most of the dragons were much larger. She also had more than just fire breath unlike all the other dragons, she could shoot a purple mist out of her mouth that would heal any wound that it touched. She could also shoot a bolt of pure energy that would explode on anything that it hit. Not many of the dragons are like this, which makes her different, and the humans do not like different.

"Line up!" There clan leader yelled

Flare filed in behind all the other dragons, there were twenty eight in all. Her best friend, Roc, was right in front of her. Roc is a ten foot tall dragon, his scales are dark brown with a shade of emerald. He was like all the other dragons, big strong and only had fire to breath. They had been friends since they were hatchlings. Almost four hundred years ago. Her race of dragons, which makes up the whole of the clan, lives to be up to five thousand years old.

"Ok humans, take your pick." Flare's leader said.

There leader was a huge dragon, twenty foot tall, stronger than any of the other dragons, and he was pure black. Most of the dragons that were lined up were male, no many dragonesses were able to be a fighter, most were to stay home and tend to the hatchlings. Flare was a fighter, ever since she was told that she wouldn't be able to fight she had been a fighter. She had fought with the other dragons enough that the elders allowed her to become a fighter.

The humans came up to them, each human could take a dragon. There were large and small humans, all male. They walked right past Flare, one of them chose Roc. After about five minutes all of the dragons had a master other than Flare. She lowered her head some, thinking that she was going to go through another war without being able to fight. She was about to leave when one last human walked in. He was small and he seemed young, a bit too young to be a worrier. The youngest the humans were able to become a worrier was eighteen, and not many of them were able to have a dragon.

The human walked up to Flare and looked her over. She stood straighter as he looked her over, trying to look as big as she could. The humans seemed to like the dragons bigger, as they think bigger is stronger and more powerful. The human looked her over closely, he looked around the room and made sure there were no other dragons left. He turned toward the exit, Flare lowered her head again, as it seemed he was about to leave. Then he turned and looked up at her.

The human reached his hand up near her head. Flare leaned her head down and sniffed his hand. She then nuzzled into it, accepting him as her master. The man smiled and pulled out a collar, this was the only thing Flare didn't like. She hated collars, but she allowed the human to attach it to her neck. The human looked up at her smiled again, and then pulled on her collar gently as he started to walk out. She followed him out, all the other dragons were with their new masters, walking down the road toward their town. Flare followed her new master, he seemed happy with himself.

"Well then, I guess I should introduce myself." He said looking back at Flare. "I am Ivan, what might I call you?"

"My name is Flare, nice to meet you I...I....I'm sorry I can't say your name, can I call you I?" Flare said lowering her head.

"Its fine, I don't mind being called I, as long as it works for you Flare." Ivan said smiling at Flare. "Flare, I like that name."

"Thank you master." Flare said

Flare had never been told that her name was good, she had never really been complemented before. Most of the other dragons didn't like her, they always made fun of her for being so small. So it felt good to be complemented for once. Flare looked up at the town ahead of her. It was a small town, there was a small castle, were the king of the town would be. Flare thought that it was dumb how the humans had so many different kingdoms. This kingdom, witch consisted of only three towns, was at war with one of the largest kingdoms around. The other kingdom had over fifty towns, and a huge army.

Flare looked around were she was, behind her were the mountains, her home, to her left were the great forests, to her right were the evil plains, large desert plains for miles then there is the evil kingdom, it is ran by a dark elf, one of the last dark elves left alive. For now Flare concentrated on the town ahead of her. It was small, a few hundred buildings can be seen. Not many of them bigger than three stories, though a couple reach high into the sky, maybe ten or more stories. The castle is quite large, the tallest point could be more than twenty stories tall. It was surrounded by a large wall, it would seem more intimidating if it had a bigger army, there army only had around three thousand people in it.

Flare looks over at Ivan, she looked him up and down. She tried her best to remember what he looks like, she had trouble telling humans apart. She looked over his body studying it, she found herself looking at his big arms and strong build. She felt herself slightly attracted to the human. She shook her head clearing the thought from her head, it was prohibited in her clan for a dragon to be with a human in any other way then the human being their master.

_**********_

Ivan walked along the road back to his home town, he had a large grin on his face. He was just now becoming a worrier and he already had a dragon, most had to wait at least ten years. He had gotten the dragon and even though she was smaller than most of the others, he chose her. He was wanting a large dragon, and would have really liked to have a male dragon, but this Flare would have to do. She seemed strong enough, and she had nice colored scales. She seemed like a large ruby, shinning in the light of the sun. He glanced back at her and it looked as if she was checking him out. As soon as she saw him looking she looked away from him, he couldn't tell but it looked as if her cheeks got darker, as if she were blushing.

"So, Flare, I thought that only the males were allowed to be fighters in your clan, at least that's what I was told." Ivan said looking back at her again.

"For the most part, that is correct, most of the females are not allowed to be a fighter, but I fought to become a fighter, so they let me." Flare said as she looked at him then toward the town ahead. "Is this your home?"

"Yes, I was born and raised here in Lone." Ivan said looking at the town.

"Why is the town called Lone?" Flare asked him

"Well, it was named after the ship "The Lone " witch is what brought the first king of lone to this area, they came in by the river that flows through the town." Ivan told her

"Interesting, so this ship, were is it now?"

"It was used in the making of the town, most of it is in the houses and the cannons are still used in defense."

"Ah, I see, and tell me, why are you at war with the "Holy Kingdom of the Medallion" as they call themselves?"

"Well, they say that this town is built over the ruins of some of their so called gods...It's really just a bunch of caves that have some gold and jewels in them."

"Oh, so there in it for the wealth?"

"Ya pretty much."

"And that's why I don't like humans, no offence."

"Hey, it's all good." Ivan said smiling back at Flare.

Ivan and Flare walked for a few minutes in silence, the town was still about two hours walk away. Ivan looks up at the sky and notes that it is getting dark, then he looks back at Flare, who's right wing had still not came out. He knew that it took a while for a dragon to accept its master, and Flare and her clan couldn't use there right wing unless they have a master and they accept their master fully. Ivan sighed, not wanting to walk in the dark.

"Hey, let's stop here for the night, we still have about two hours of walking left and its getting dark." Ivan said stopping and turning to face Flare.

"As you wish master" Flare said

Ivan walked over to a tree and sat down, leaning his back against the tree. He looked around and his eyes stopped on Flare, she was curled up on the ground about thirty feet away from him. She wasn't looking at him so he continued to look her over. He looked at the mussels visible along her legs and what could be her arms, or just a forward set of legs, Ivan didn't know what to call them so he just went with arms. He looked at how her scales looked as the sun went down, they turned into a beautiful shade of red as the sun was just about to go over the horizon and was making the sky red.

"Hey Flare, why are you staying way over there? come lay here next to me....it will make me feel safer." Ivan called over to Flare

"Huh....Yes master" She said as she got up and walked over to him.

"Don't be shy now" Ivan said smiling as he patted the ground next to him. "Come on and lay down."

Flare did as she was told and curled back up laying right next to Ivan, she was just inches away from him, he could see all the scars running up and down her body. He slowly reached out and petted Flare, she shivered some at his touch and looked back at him.

"What are you doing master?" Flare asked him

"I'm just petting you, or should I stop?"

"It is ok, and I cannot tell you to stop, you are my master" Flare told him laying her head back down.

"Right" Ivan said

Ivan didn't really like being called "Master" and he didn't really like the idea of Flare being his slave or whatever they called it. But he had always wanted a dragon, so this would have to do. He reached out his hand and petted her some more, again she shivered some but she didn't move. She must not be used to affection Ivan thought to himself. He continued to pet her as he looked up into the sky, the stars were now out and the moon was shining brightly. Ivan shivered some as the temperature dropped fast . He scooted over to were his body was touching Flare's, her body was surprisingly warm. He shivered a little more and Flare looked back at him.

"Are you cold master?" Flare asked him

"A little, but I'll be fine" Ivan said smiling some

Flare looked at him for a moment then stood up and turned around. She laid down and curled up around Ivan setting her head down on his stomach, his head leaning against her stomach. Ivan smiled down at Flare and leaned his head back on her stomach and looked up at the stars, his head rocked some as she breathed and the rocking soon helped Ivan fall into a somewhat deep sleep.

He dreamt of riding Flare as she soared threw the skies, the wind hitting him in the face and in the dream he felt happy. Then something happened, the dream went to the scene of a huge battle. There were dead bodies every were, and in the back ground he could see the town Lone burning. He saw himself standing over Flare, she wasn't moving, not even her stomach moved like it did when she breathed laying on her side. Flare was dead. Ivan woke up, and sat up as he woke from a bad dream, Flare was still curled around him, her head still on his legs, and it was still dark out. Ivan laid his head back onto Flare's stomach and fell back asleep.

_**********_

Flare was woken in the middle of the night as Ivan woke up and sat up, he seemed to be startled. Flare didn't move, she sniffed the air and didn't smell anything and she didn't hear anything other than Ivan's fast breathing and the wind in the trees. He must of had a bad dream she thought to herself. She waited until he was snoring again then looked up, she looked of any sign of trouble. There was none. She laid her head back down on Ivan's legs, it felt nice to be close to something without that thing trying to kill her or do some kind of harm to her. She liked how close he was getting but it also felt wrong to her, it felt as if he was trying to push the border that he shouldn't push on.

Oh well, Flare really couldn't do much to stop him, he was her master and she had to do everything he said, and she had to protect him with her life. And she would so just that. She slowly fell into a sleep, it was very light and just about any somewhat loud noise could wake her up. Witch allowed her to wake up about an hour later when she heard a group of horses coming down the road. With her good vision she could tell that they were from the rival kingdom. Show slowly stood, setting Ivan's head down onto the ground with her tail as to not wake him, and she crept into the shadows.

_**********_

Ivan woke, he was surrounded by horsemen from the Holy Kingdom of the Medallion, there were about ten of them, all standing around him, Flare was no were to be seen, they either killed her or she had left him there. One of the men jumped down from his horse, Ivan started to get up but the man kicked him in his chest and he fell back on to the ground. The man drew his sword and looked down at Ivan. He said something to one of the other men, they spoke a strange langue that Ivan couldn't under stand, then the man turned back to Ivan and pulled his sword up about to strike him.

There was a near blinding white light that flew and hit the man with the sword dawn in the body, he exploded and when the light faded there was nothing left of him, only smoke. The other men turned toward the source of the light, something roared from the shadows and a ball of fire flew out and struck on of the men, the flames from the one fire ball engulfed the man and the man standing next to him. That's when Ivan saw her, she was fast jumping out of the shadows and onto the closest horsemen to her.

Ivan could see Flare ripping into the man's flesh, his armor was thorn up and his sword lay just out of his reach, the man stopped struggling, his body was limp and lifeless. Flare jumped off of the dead man and turned to face the other five men that were left, one of them were already charging at her. Flare shot a fire ball at the man, hitting him mount and turning them both into a big ball of flames. The rest of the men jumped off their mounts and charged her.

Flare grabbed the first man and threw him into the man running right behind him. The next man was hit by Flare's open hand, he screamed as her claws ripped into his flesh, tearing off large chunks of his arms. The next man was greeted by a fire ball that threw him back onto the ground burning. One of the men jumped up onto Flare, she roared in anger and threw him off. The men left standing jumped on her, one was able to drive his sword into her. She grabbed the man with the sword in her by the leg, she griped him with her jaws and clamped down on his leg, Ivan could hear bones snapping.

The man who had stabbed Flare fell off her back, she lifted he leg and stomped down on him. He screamed as the foot came down, but when it hit he stopped. Flare turned to the other man on her back, he was holding on for his life. She grabbed his arm in her jaws and pulled him off of her, she threw him about twenty feet away. When he landed him and the one other surviving man ran off. Flare looked over at Ivan and walked over to him.

"Are you ok master?" Flare asked him

"I'm fine, what about you?" Ivan asked as he saw the sword still sticking out of her.

"Me, I am fine, it's nothing bad."

"Let me look at it"

Flare laid down on the ground so that Ivan could get a better view of the sword. It was about a foot in her, he could see dark red blood spilling from around the blade of the sword. Ivan stood up and grabbed the sword handle, he looked over at Flare who was watching him, she nodded to him. He pulled up on the sword, he heard Flare grunt some then the sword came free and pulled out. The blood spilled from the wound. He pulled an old rag from his pocket and placed it over the cut. He pressed down trying to stop the bleeding, it only took a few seconds and his hands were coved in Flare's blood.

"I don't think it will stop bleeding any time soon, we need t- " Ivan was saying

"It will, just give it a few seconds, I have been through worse, and sorry for cutting you off master." Flare said cutting Ivan off

"Ok, if you think so...also it's ok as long as it is important." Ivan said

Ivan could feel the bleeding slow down then finally stop. He moved the rag, which was now dripping blood off of it, away from the cut. He could already see where it was healing, Ivan knew dragons healed fast, but her didn't know it was so fast. In less than five minutes the wound was fully healed, only a small scar was left. He looked back up at her and she was, what looked like smiling. He smiled at her and then looked up at the sky. It couldn't be more than two in the morning, still too early to start to walk again. He looked back to Flare.

"Think you can get back to sleep after this? It's too early to start walking, at least for me it is." Ivan said smiling at Flare

"I can if you can master." Flare said back to him.

"Alright, I guess I will never get a straight answer from you" Ivan said grinning.

Ivan watched as Flare curled back up to where he could lay back down the way he was before the fight. He slowly moved in between Flare's two sides and laid down. He rested his head lightly on Flare's stomach and watched as she laid her head down on his legs. He smiled down at her then laid his head back on her stomach looking back up at the stars. He slowly feel asleep.

_**********_

Flare laid there, listing to Ivan snore. She smiled at the thought that she had already saved his life once, and she hoped she would get many more chances. She looked at him, she felt a strange feeling that she had never felt before now, as she looked over him a feeling was building up in her heart. Am I in love with a human, and my master, she thought to herself. She looked away from him and closed her eyes. She fell into a deep sleep.

When Flare woke it was daylight outside, she went to look at Ivan but he wasn't there. Startled she jumped up and looked around. She saw Ivan standing next to a small fire cooking something that looked like a small deer over the flames. She sighed in relief that he was ok, she had thought that he had left her, or worse been hurt.

"Moring Flare, want something to eat?" Ivan called to her.

"Morning to you to master, and yes I would love something to eat right now." Flare said realizing how hungry she was.

"Well come on over." Ivan said smiling at her.

Flare walked over next to Ivan and sat down next to him. He reached over and started to pet her, she liked being petted but still wasn't used the gesture so she jumped a little. She looked over at him and he smiled and continued to pet her, she slightly leaned into the petting. She was still getting used to how much affection Ivan gave her, and she was liking it. She looked at him for a moment the turned her head and looked into the fire. She watched the flames dace around, and then she looked at the deer, it looked as if it was ready.

Ivan reached over and took the deer off of the fire, he pulled out his dagger and cut a few strips of meat off of the body. He put most of the strips of meat into his pack, then started to eat the rest setting what was left of the deer in front of Flare. She looked down at the deer and started to slowly eat it.

"Is it good?" Ivan asked her

"Yes master" Flare replied and continued to eat.

"Good, good." Ivan said

Flare continued to ear until there were only a few pieces of meat left on the bones of the deer. When she was done she looked up at Ivan who was looking off toward the mountains to the north. He looked down at her and smiled, she leaned her head up and nuzzled into his arm. He started to pet from her head and down the back of her neck. She let out a deep rumble, the equivalent of a dragon purring. He smiled and laughed some, then he stood up and looked around.

"Well, I think it is time to start walking again, what do you think?" Ivan said to Flare

"If you wish it master" Flare replied

"You know, a simple 'Yes' would work." Ivan said smiling at Flare

Flare smiled up at Ivan, then looked back at her body. She could see that her right wing was out and she noticed that she could move it. She stretched out both of her wings, her right one popped some as she stretched it. Ivan looked at her as she stretched her wings out. He stared at her wings, her wing span is twenty feet, then he started to grin.

"How about we go for a fly, instead of walking to Lone we could fly the rest of the way" Ivan said grinning at Flare.

"That is fine with me master." Flare replied.

"Good, I always wanted to ride a dragon."

Flare leaned over so Ivan would be able to get on her back easily. He climbed up onto her back and looked around, he leaned forward and wrapped his arms around her neck holding on tightly. She smiled back at him then started to run, after a couple of seconds of running she jumped into the air and started to flap her wings, they slowly rose into the air. She heard Ivan yell into the wind, he must have never flown before she thought. She starred to pick up speed, they were just above the tops of the trees but they were going very fast.

"Woohoo, at this pace we will be at Lone in no time!" Ivan yelled above the wind.

"Ya, just hold on, I don't want to drop you master." Flare said

It took about five minutes and they arrived at the entrance to Lone. Flare landed right outside of the town's entrance, she leaned back down so that Ivan could get off of her. As he stepped off of her, a couple of guards came running up to them, when they got there they were out of breath.

"Ivan, thank god you are back, the king needs you right now, your dragon will have to wait outside the castle walls." One of the guards said to Ivan

"Um, ok I think, Flare follow us." Ivan said looking at Flare.

Flare walked behind Ivan and the two guards, all of the people in the town seemed to give Flare strange looks. She ignored them as they walked up to the entrance to the castle. Ivan turned and motioned for her to stay, she nodded to him. They walked inside and she sat down next to a building. Flare looked around at the people, they gave her strange looks, as if they had never saw a dragon before. She tried her best to ignore them but they just stood there and stared at her, she hid her face from them behind her tail.

Ivan followed the two guards to the king's throne room. He looked at the king. He was, as always, surrounded by the royal guard. He had on his normal royal robes and crown. Everything you would think a king would have on. One thing that Ivan noticed was the look on his face. Grim and concerned, as if something bad had or was happening.

"Ivan, what took you so long to get back? Never mind that, the armies of our enemy march toward our city son." The King said to Ivan.

"What will you have me do father?" Ivan said kneeling at the king's, his father, feet.

"I want you to stay out of the fight, but I know you will not so, I want you to lead my best men into battle on your new slave dragon."

"Flare is not my slave, she is more my partner."

"What ever you want to call it son. Just know this, if you go out to fight, you will not come back."

"I know father, I shall do my best and take your five-hundred men into battle. Who will be leading the other one-thousand-five-hundred men into battle?"

"Your brother Fang." The king said as he looked down for a second then looked back at Ivan. "I want you to do your best, this is not a fight we can win. Nor is it a fight that I shall live through. Son, if things start to fall apart and I know they will, I want you and your dragon Flare to run."

"Y-yes sir." Ivan said staring at the ground.

"Go now my son, your men are waiting to fight by your side, to die by your side. You are their prince and soon to be their last air to the throne." The king said

"Yes my king, I will make you proud." Ivan said as he stood, turned around, and walked to the armory to get his things.

_

_

Flare looked up when she heard someone coming out. No not Ivan just a prince, she could tell by the armor and by the sy-. Her thoughts were stopped when she saw that it was Ivan. She never realized that the Ivan she was with was Prince Ivan. She wondered why he was in battle armor, and why he had a sword.

"Flare, we must get moving. The armies of The Kingdom of the Medallion are marching here, less than two hours and they will be on us." Ivan said as he walked up.

"Yes master, where do we head?" Flare asked him as she stood up.

"Just beyond the walls, there is a small army, five-hundred men waiting for my command." Ivan said as he got onto her back.

She got a running start and jumped into the air. Ivan was heaver now with the armor and it was harder for her to stay in the air. She flew over the city walls, just over head she could see out over the great plain, over the army of Leon that was one-thousand-five-hundred strong right now, seeing how five-hundred was just over the next rise, and one-thousand were set up in the castle to defend it until the last minute.

She flew over the hill, the congregation of five-hundred of the best knights of Leon were standing, waiting on their leader, waiting on Ivan. She looked at Ivan the best she could while flying. He looked straight ahead, not moving other than with the sway of her body when she flapped her wings. She looked back forward.

"Where shall I land master?" Flare asked him

"Up in front of the knights will do Flare." Ivan said.

Flare gave a slight nod and then dove gently toward the front of the large group of knights. She landed and laid down on her stomach so that Ivan could easily step off. He looked around, at his knights. She could tell that he was thinking on something to say. She wouldn't blame him for wanting to give a good speech before the battle, encourage the men to do their best even though they were going to their deaths. And they all knew it, it showed on their faces, their voices as they spoke to each other, even in the way they were standing around.

"Men, we will go into battle today, most of us will die today, but the ones that do not will know the fear that they strike into the enemy, for they may have more men, so many we cannot count, but we, we have the skill, the honor, the fight to take them on, and to take this day as our own and make sure that they never forget the kingdom of Lone, and make sure they never forget how much a small kingdom can take on even the largest threats. " Ivan shouted out to his men.

The gave out a shout of acceptance to their new leader. They knew he was going to lead them into death itself but they would follow him to the end, just like Flare would. But Flare also thought that the speech was a bit cheesy, but it worked. She looked out over the men, they looked more as if they were ready to go into battle not morning before their own death.

Ivan turned and looked at Flare. He walked up to her and patted her head softly.

"Flare, it is almost time, we are going to go into battle, and we may not come back out. I want you to know that it has been a great pleaser to know you." Ivan said to her while he looked into her eyes.

"I- I- Thank you master, I feel the same way." Flare said.

She was at a loss for words. Her own master was showing so much affection for her. She knew this was not right but it did not matter seeing how soon they would be fighting and would most likely die fighting.

"One last thing, my father, the king, has told me to run if the battle gets too out of control." Ivan said looking back at the knights then back at her. "if that happens we will be leaving all these men behind. Can you do this?"

"Anything for my master." Flare said.

"Good, lets fly." Ivan said.

Flare laid back down on her stomach so Ivan could climb onto of her once again. She ran jumped and then took flight. Just over the hill side was the enemy. Their army over ten-thousand strong, marching toward the city.

_

_

Ivan was in shock when he saw the army. Never had he saw so many people in one place. All marching with one purpose, the destruction and capture of Leon. He signaled his men to march forward, alongside them, the one-thousand-five-hundred men that his brother controlled. They would meet the enemy on the battle field, and spill their blood, blood from both sides will fill this valley.

"Take us down in front of the formation of my knights Flare." Ivan yelled over the noise of the marchers.

"Yes master." Flare yelled back.

Flare took him down and landed in front of the stopped line of five-hundred knights. The enemy's army not one-hundred yards away. Ivan jumped off Flare and turned to face the opposing army. There were so many of them he had no idea where to start looking for the commander. Then he spotted him, atop a horse.

Ivan motioned for Flare to stay and walked up to meet the enemy commander along with his brother. They met, in the middle of the field between the two armies.

"I will give you one chance to surrender, or I will kill you, your armies, and all of the towns people." The enemy commander said.

"We will do no such thing, you turn back now before we are forced to kill you and all of your armies." Ivan's brother said. This made the enemy commander burst out laughing.

"Have it your way." The commander said as he turned and left.

Ivan and his brother turned in unison and walked back to their men. Ivan drew his sword as did all of his men. He turned to face the enemy army. They all had their swords out, ready. They charged, all ten-thousand of them. All at once.

"Now!" Ivan yelled as his men ran by him charging into the enemy lines.

Ivan ran forward, Flare at his side. The front line of men were already covered in the enemies'' blood. Ivan jumped up and brought his sword down into the throat of a man, blood gushed out at the slash. He saw Flare breath out a line of fire deep into the enemies' ranks. He could hear their screams of pain from being burned alive.

Ivan swung at another man and their swords clashed. He swung again this time meeting its mark and cutting through skin and hitting bone of a man's shoulder. He pulled the sword back and swung at another man.

Ivan looked up into the sky, he wondered where the other dragon riders where. He dident care, he had to keep fighting, had to win, had to. He swung at a man cutting into his arm. He then stabed the man in the gut. He pushed the man off of his sword then went for another, and another, and another. There were so many of them. Too many.

It took over three hours of constant battle but they had won. The enemy was in retreat. At a loss of over three fourths of their men. They had no army left only a few soldiers. That was when the main army of the enemy came over the hill. There was at least a million of them. Catapults, battering rams, even the huge towers used to move over a castle's walls. To many.

The sun set, just as thousands of arrows set on fire were launched into the air. The men got under their shields, Flare spread a wing out over Ivan, her scales would bounce the arrows off of her. The arrows rained down, made it look as if it were raining fire. As if they were in hell. The arrows bounced off Flare's tough scales, her head was hidden under her wing to protect her eyes.

"This is it huh?" Ivan said to her. "This is the end."

"Not yet it is not, you said that your father told you to retreat." Flare said looking at him. "So we shall."

"We can, but that is not the honorable thing to do." Ivan said looking into Flare's eyes.

"No, but we will live to fight another day, fight back stronger. Get another army together. Get our revenge." Flare said.

"I guess you are right, but how can we do that? How can we leave them here? Leave them to die?"

"They fight for you, they will die for you, just as I will. This is their job, now you must do yours."

"You are right. As soon as the arrows stop falling we must go." Ivan said.

Flare nodded to him. Ivan lifted his hand and put it on Flare's jaw. She looked at him looking at her. He gave a smile that would make any women want him. He leaned in and kissed her. She could not move, she did not know what to do. Her master had just kissed her, and she had liked it. She kissed him back the best she could without lips.

The arrows stopped coming down. Flare broke away from the kiss and looked back at the army, they were charging toward them. What was left of Leon's army was charging back. Flare moved her wing and laid down on her stomach.

"Hop on, Ivan." She said.

"Ok- wait did you just say my name?" Ivan asked her as he jumped onto her back.

"Oh, I am sorry master." Flare said, she could feel herself blushing.

"No, I like it."

Flare took off running and jumped into the night sky. She flew high, above the clouds. The stars were bright that night. Flare felt Ivan rub her back some then lay down on her. He had his arms around her neck to hold on, he leaned so that his head was almost next to hers.

"Flare, I- I think I love you." With that Ivan moved back and laid on her back his head aganst her neck. She felt him give her neck a small kiss.
