Author's note: Well here it is, the third installment to my little tale about two brothers... Sorry it took so long to get here. As always musical inspirations, smoking, and utmost boredom were the driving forces behind this little fun-fest. That and I based it off of a few mixed experiences I've witnesses with my friends. Anyway, I'm had TONS of fun writing this and am rather pleased with how far I've taken the story. I might do one last chapter but I'll have to hold off on that for now. Enjoy

Brother's Haven

________________________________________________________________________

"Leon... Leon! Wake up dammit, we're gonna' be late!" A familiar voice came braking into his dreams. - WHAM- Along with the voice came the all too familiar weight of a body landing on his with chest. Aggravated, the wolf rubbed the tiredness from his face and look up. "Like hell we are Rues, my alarm clock hasn't even gone off." he growled pushing his brother by the shoulder. The little dragon did an overly-dramatic roll to the floor and giggled. "It's not even a good use of my time being up on a saturday."

"Well too bad you're up now, so come on!" Rues whined his voice breaking. Leon simply rolled his eyes and sat up. "Rues," he said pushing the migraine in his head with two finger. "Yeah?" The colourless dragon asked hopefully, curling his tail up off the carpet and high into the air. "Get out of my room." Leon demanded dryly and the collapsed his head back onto his pillow. - Thump- Rues's tail hit the floor again like a building crumbling. Leon jumped a little and then closed his eyes once more, intent on drifting back to sleep. - Thump-... -THUMP THUMP THUMP- Rues's long tail flailed the ground with all the force he could muster, trying to prevent his older brother from slipping back into dreamland.

"Dammit Rues! Out of my room! Well leave when my alarm clock..." His shouts were cut short but the piercing ringing of radio-alarm sounding like a fire-truck siren. Leon threw his weight up to a sitting, pounded the little machine with his fist, and glared at the innocent pair of blue eyes. "I've told you like a thousand times, Rues," Leon began a low growl in the words he spoke, " I want you to stay out of my room when I'm sleeping."

Fat chance, Rues thought and smiled a childish grin at his older brother. "What, what are you smiling about. I swear, if you did anything to me in my sleep..." Rues burst out laughing at the idea. "Oh like you would care if I did." Rues retorted merrily, his paws drumming on the floor. "I just thought that was your 'bad arm' but it looks like you are all better now... So can we leave yet?"

Trying not to show just how humorous the dragon's silly little personality was, Leon squinted. "No stupid, I'm not even dressed yet." In reply, Rues squinted back and stuck out his tongue. "Oh kommen Brudlein, you promised." German again. "Stop calling me that!" came a growl and a flying pillow towards Rues's head. It missed by a little and landed on the floor behind him. "I'm not in the mood." Disappointment set in. It had been three long weeks since the fight at the school and Leon's fractured bone had finally healed up. Well, most of the way; a bit of soreness still remained.

The deal was once it had gotten to this point he would take his adopted brother out to the mall in Leon's personal ride; a sweet cherry red muscle car with all the works. Not only would it be a ride in to the mall, it would be a date between the two boys. A chance to show their love to the world

"Just... just give me a few," Leon said as he stood up and rubbed his wrist. Rues wasn't so childish as to disobey his older brother. Respectively he dialed back his enthusiasm and rose to his hind paws. "Should I wear anything particular today?" he asked with genuine concern for what Leon would prefer. The wolf shook his head and parted the bangs from infront of his eyes. Hmm, maybe time for a trim. "I know let's get aour fur stylized today. What do you say Rues? I'm thinking you'd look pretty awesome with black tips." Giving it a moments consideration Rues shrugged his shoulders "I guess so, I always like blue though."

Leon chuckled and jokingly threw the other pillow at his little brother, this time hitting him squarely in the maw. "Whatever man, now get. Like I said, I have to finish up a few things first." With a nod, Rues walked up to Leon, hugged his big brother and then made his way out to play dress up. He was really excited for today, and his outfit was sure to reflect that.

Pulling a white long-sleeved shirt over his head was harder than it should have been as Leon stumbled around, half asleep. Coming to a rest near the closet Leon pulled it down his chest and let out a long yawn. "Damn this eight o'clock crap... it's frickin' saturday..." Mumbles of discontent as Leon opened his closet to find a pair of jeans. Not a single pair that he wanted were clean. Instead he rubbed the soreness from his arm again and decided to check the washing machine for a pair. Sure he'd have to throw them into a dryer but it would be worth the wait. So walking down the hall in boxers, Leon stopped momentary to look into his brothers room.

Inside sat a confused little dragon, clothes strewn about, and at a loss for what to wear. Continuing on Leon passed into the kitchen and then down the cellar stairs. It was a poorly lighted room, cold cement floor and the noises of how the dryer spun and groaned were almost unbearably to the wolf's ears.

"Ugh, what a racket," He complained to the rumbling hunk of metal infront of him. Pressing the stop button, he opened the door and reached inside. Strong smells of fabric softener assaulted his nose and the clothes inside were still a little damp to the touch. Oh well, he thought pulling out a pair of denim shorts and slid them on. Not like they wouldn't dry in the sweltering heat outside.

Returning up the wooden stairs he saw Rues sitting at the far end of the table, balancing a plastic bowl on his head. "You 'tard, what in heaven's name are you doing? Better yet, lemme' see what you're wearing." Leon instructed and Rues happily obliged. Placing the yellow dish onto the table, Rues rushed to his brother's side with a smile as wide as the horizon. "What do ya' think Leon? I thought maybe I should go all out at first but then you'd just say 'go change' and I choose something a little bland." True Leon had expect to see a terrible combination of poor fashion choices but instead Rues had actually did pretty well. A slightly v-necked tee-shirt in a pleasing shade of light blue coupled with black cargo shorts. He had a silver chain around his neck and a small pendent shaped like a star hung from its center.

"Not too bad Rues. So where you wanna' stop to eat before we hit the mall, dude?" The expected answer, Pizza. It seemed to be the only thing the little dragon ever wanted to eat. "I'd like to roll down to Papa G's place eventually, but I was hoping we could go to the mall first, maybe for pretzels." Nothing better than doughy mounds of salt-covered bread that the mall cranked out to crowds of addicts. The lines would be unbearably long but so worth the wait. "Sure thing. Head out to car and I'll be right out just gotta' find my keys."

Rues Walked back over to the table, picked up the bowl and then put it on the counter. Strumming his fingers across the marble surface the little dragon giggled. His excitement was boiling over and he practically skipped out of the room. It was enough to make Leon laugh as well. "Whatever" he chuckled and looked at peg-board where a clump of keys hung. Taking his own he noticed that the family vehicle's set was missing. Best leave a note he thought taking out a yellow sticky-pad and jotting down a scribbled memo. -Took Rues to get new shoes for tennis, back after supper- "There we go," he said slapping it on the fridge. He tossed the pad back inside the droor and made his way form the porch.

Stepping outside, Leon clicked the car alarm. The chirping from the doors unlocking made Rues jump and then nearly fall over backward. As he regained his composure, Leon strolled over to him smugly. "Told you, don't lean against it." Angrily the colourless dragon scowled. "Don't be a jerk, Leon" he said feeling his anger raise. Leon sure was giving him a lot of crap for how special today was suppose to be. "Whoa, chill dude," Leon said opening the car door on his side. "Fine, fine, whatever you say. Can we go yet?" Rues's mood had turned a little sour and it showed in how he held his tail rigidly low to the ground. Sensing his brother's discontent, Leon softened his facial expression and lowered his tone to a pleasing whisper. "Of course my little b.f. today's for you." Clearly even Rues could fall prey to charming boyish flirtations. His bouncy attitude restored they climbed inside the car.

"Damn," Leon said under his breath but it was still loud enough to be heard by a now concerned dragon. "What's wrong Brother?" Rues asked fearing the worst. Fortunately it was nothing close to drastic. "Just really low on gas, so we need to make a quick stop down to the station first." He explained easing away Rues's concerns as quickly as they had arose.

"Oh, okay." chimed a sing-song voice from a happy little sibling, smiling at the fact that a dream was quickly becoming a reality. "I don't mind, maybe we can hold each other's paws there?" Suggest a hopeful dragon. Leon gulped and shrugged his shoulders. The main reason he agreed to this little 'date' at the mall was that no one knew they were adopted brothers there. Completly inconspicuous, but the gas station? No it wouldn't be a wise choice to show their 'brotherly affections' there, too many familiar faces.

-> Anticipation for affirmation was vividly clear in the crystal blue eyes as Leon drummed up an excuse why they couldn't be frisky with each other so close to home. No real excuse could be offered that would subside the little dragon's wishes so Leon decided to change the subject. Or at least try to.

"You wanna' run the money in for me?" He asked Rues while slowly back out of his perfectly parked spot in the driveway. "Only if you're gonna' come in with me." sung a happy voice in reply. Quick thinking saved him for once he found a usable excuse. "Can't, I have to stay and pump gas." Actually that wasn't too far from the truth. Pulling into the closest Gas supplier, Leon shut off the engine and got out. The pump jockey's no longer worked at the station so Leon had a clear way out. It wasn't that he disliked the idea, being openly intimate with Rues, but he still didn't want to risk it.

Taking out his wallet he passed a few twenty dollar bills to his brother. "Here, I'm getting twenty five on..." He paused to look up at the sign above them, "... on pump number three. If you want grab a soda for yourself and get me a diet tea too." Rues nodded and then made his way across the busy parking-lot.

The air thick with the stench of gasoline began to irk Leon as he finished fueling and shut the gas cap. "Man, where is that kid? Ten minutes ago he was complaining to me about taking too long and now he's the one taking forever." Scanning the cash register area through the giant glass window Leon failed to see where his little brother was hidden. Deciding the best move was just to pull the car up to the curb, he got back in the drivers side and started it back up. No sooner than the engine start to purr did Rues appear near the door.

"What took you so long dude?" Leon called out at his brother approached the car. "I couldn't find the diet tea you asked so I had to get lemon soda instead. Is that cool?" He slowly closed the closed and his seat beat clicked. Passing the bag of drinks over to his brother Rues took one out. Clearing his throat Leon tapped his fingers on the steering wheel. "Damn idiots," Leon grumbled as he waited for the other drivers to let him move. Clearly he was anxious to start their date now too. Rues smiled at the thought and Leon pulled out of the station in a hurry, speeding towards the mall.

Blaring radio, they raced down the highway in the red muscle car, singing along at the top of their lungs. When the song ended the large mall finally acme into sight. "Yay!" exclaimed a happy little dragon upon seeing their destination approaching. "What store did you want to stop at first?" Good question, where could a couple of mix-spices lovers go to hang out? More importantly a couple of GAY brothers.

"Let's hit the food court first, then we'll tour every store they got. How's that sound?" Leon proposed turning into the parking lot. "Okay, so the can I put out a suggestion then?" Rues asked thinking about the day. "Can we make the first stop at the urban clothing place? They have these awesome hats."

What a damn pup Leon thought grinning. "Sure thing mister whitey. After that, I pick the next store." He announced as they crossed a sea of parked cars towards a concrete giant. The mall was absolutely huge, being composed of two stories and a few Independent shops attached to the building. Once past the double doors they stood in amazement at the busy on-goings before them. A field of perfume displays and clothing stands were before them and Rues frowned. "I think we have to go through here to get to the actual mall part." Leon said, sensing his little brother's disappointment. "Let's just follow this walkway and I'm sure it'll lead us... HEY!" In the middle of the sentence Leon felt a paw grab his rump and give a firm squeeze. "Did you just cope a feel?" Leon asked in amused bewilderment.

"Um, yeah. I thought that was the idea of the day here." Rues replied thrilled with the fact he had just grabbed Leon's butt in public. The all-too familiar look appeared on the wolf's face and he opened his mouth to tell Rues off. "Rues don't be such a damn instigator." Matching his brother word for word as his Leon spoke, Rues taunted him by repeating the well known compliant.

-THWAP- Leon smacked the little white dragon's rump in a playful manor as a response to Rues's smart-alcek actions."Keep it in your pants, Rues" He warned with a chuckle. "Now come on let's go get those mall pretzels."

The line wasn't as long as the predicted and Rues spent the wait counting the blue tiles dotted amongst the white ones on the floor. "Twenty-eight." He announced as the panda next in line received his order. "What are you talking about, there's no way you can eat that many pretzels. I'll go broke just buying them." Leon complained not realizing what Rues was referring to. Rather than explaining his childish actions Rues just shook his head and held up two fingers as a request. "Would you like those plain or salted?" asked the cashier. Leon looked over at his brother, awaiting an answer. "get me one with salt please." he asked fumbling to hold Leon's paw. Allowing him to finally display his affections Leon slowly locked fingers with him.

"I guess two with salt, umm, medium size and..." He glanced to his side to see Rues pleading with a smile, begging for the largest one he could get. "... and one extra large I suppose." Beeping came from the register as the cashier rang in the order and a doberman behind him pulled the order from a heated rack. "That'll be $4.23, please." The cashier said friendly and Leon pulled a five from his wallet. "Here, just put the change in the jar." Leon instructed the cashier exchanging the bill for the pretzels.

Taking the meal with them as the walked the long stretching hallway of the first floor, Rues glanced in every shop they passed. Snacking away on his treat, he felt so happy, his paw still snuggly inside Leon's. "There it is, dude. What was it you wanted from here?" The older brother asked as the pair walked inside a store with pumping music and an upbeat atmosphere.

"Checkered hat with blue rim." Rues answered not missing a beat. "Oh and maybe some new pants too." Leon added up the possible prices and then thought about his wallet. He wasn't carrying too much cash but he did have a pre-paid debit card he could charge to. "Okay, but just make sure to buy a pair of sneakers too. I left a note saying that's why I took you to the mall." He explained being lead along by an eager dragon pup.

After the pair had gathered three pair of jeans, four boxes of shoes and the favored hat, they walked up to the clerk. "Hey, can we try some of this on before we get it?" Rues asked the tigress behind the counter. She pointed to the far corner where a set of purple doors were. "I'll have to ask that you leave the hat and shoes here at the front though" she said admiring how close the two boys were standing next to on another. "May I ask something?"

"Sure, what?" Rues asked smiling his boyish grin, eye's a little closed and tail curved up off of the ground. "So are you two like bf's or something?" Leon gulped and Rues burst into an ecstatic laughter. "Yep, he's my boy... er I mean, I'm his boyfriend." Rues said proudly. "How sweet," remarked the tigress and then passed them a key. "Here, you two can share a dressing room then. The other one's got a hole in the floor and is out of operation."

Merrily Rues accepted the little metal item and Leon placed the shoes on the counter with an almost embarrassed look. It still felt a little weird to act like this in public for him. Maybe he just needed more time for the idea to grow on him. Stepping behind the violet door, he tossed the jeans onto the shelf like seat that protruded form the wall. "Screw it, they fit. Now come here!" Leon nearly shouted and pinned his adopted brother against the wall.

Holding the dragon in place with his paws on Rues's wrists he licked the side of the little dragon's muzzle. As his tongue slid across the snow white fur, Leon let go and wrapped his arms tightly around Rues's back. "Behave yourself or this big bad wolfie will have to teach you a lesson. I f you want to show us off, make sure to do it right."

Traveling his finger down Leon's back, Rues let his paw rest just above the wolf's swaying tail. "Got it, Leon." Murred an excited dragon looking sweetly into his brother's eyes. Ending the embrace, Leon sat down on the ledge. "Now, then. You want to make out?" Rues asked hopefully. "A little, not much though. That kitty at the front will catch on if we start banging up against the walls in here." Leaning his back against the pale red wall behind him Leon spread his legs, indicating he wanted his brother to come over and 'sit.'

Climbing into Leon's awaiting lap, Rues felt a strong arm surround him and hold him place. Slowly the faces met. Brown fur meshed up against white, their lips surrounding one another in collisions of intent. Leon dug his free paw into Rues's head fur from behind and then took hold of a spiraled horn. Time and time they meet in a sweet taste of one another, tongues caressing teeth and traveling into the deepest reaches they could. Soon the tide turned and Leon took the lead, standing up, supporting his brother in his arms and holding his body against the wall. Intensely he fought for control over his dear little brother's mouth and finally drew the kissing to an end, a thin trail saliva stringing between their now parted faces.

"Love you, bro." Leon murmured contently and lowered Rues's legs back to floor. "Now come on let's make an appearance or else they'll come looking of us." They emerged from the tiny room and walked back up to the register area holding the pants. "Can I pay debit here? Leon asked depositing the clothing onto the counter and licked his muzzle; he could still taste Rues there. The tigress nodded and Leon finished the transaction.

"What was the final bill?" Rues asked following his brother out of the store. "Trust me you don't wanna' know. Let's just say I don't think we have the funds to go shopping anywhere else." Leon replied. "So you ready to head home or did you want to stop down for pizzas on the way back? Rues thought about it for a moment. He wasn't really that hungry, though maybe he should still eat. "Nah, let's chill here for a while, even if we can't shop we can still do things."

"Like make-out in dressing rooms?" Leon remarked with a smirk. "I think not, People are gonna' get suspicious if we go around to every clothing store and just 'visit' the dressing rooms for ten minutes at a time." Rues thumped his tail and put his paws on his hips. "So will you just kiss me by the wishing fountain then?"

Shifting the bags all into the same paw, Leon took hold of Rues's with the other. "Yeah, you know I will. Come on, I hope it's crowded too." He said feeding into the dragon's wish for publicity. Taking him to the center of the mall he dropped the bags infront of a large circular fountain. With arms firmly hugging the shadeless dragon, Leon's muzzles nudged against his brother's and wrapped his lips around Rues's in a defiant display. Things were finally starting to feel right as their lips broke apart. "How was that?" He asked watching his loving brother gasp for air.

"I think my heart just stopped for a moment." swooned the pale dragon still in the hold of his hero. Everything else ceased to matter to them and the meet once again in the same passionate display as before. The world behind them faded as their eyes closed and lip meet. This place in the view of strangers was now the haven for the love they shared.
