Many people tend to see death in their life. Either from a family member or watching someone die. It could leave an emotional effect on them or leaved their brain scared. However, when one watches their her family die, they become devastated and left into darkness. That is what happened to Daniel Kenson. He watched his family die.
A accident which took the lives of twelve people had left him an orphan. He survived the accident but with a only a few scratches. His house had caught on fire when the gas had a leak and the whole family was their for a reunion. He survived by being saved by his only pokemon.
She saved his life by shielding him with her body. She being a fire type had no ill affect but the rest of his family perished.
She was always there with him since he was two years old. She was always there with him when he got a scratch or when he got in trouble in school. She would never leave him and never leave him in the darkness alone.
She was his Ninetales and now she suffered along with him. His family treated her like she was there own and she loved that family as much as he did. Originally left by another trainer, Daniel's mother took her in when she was a Vulpix. When Daniel was two, she was his first playmate and first friend ever. Twelve years later, the two were an unbreakable friendship and to never let the other get into harm's way.
When the accident happened, his Ninetales shielded him from the explosion from using her whole body to cover him. When paramedics arrived, they found nothing but ash and a boy with parts of his body scratched up and a Ninetales protecting him.
Daniel had become locked away from everyone after the funeral. He had no home, no family. He only had his Ninetales but she was just as broken as he is. With his family's money that he inherited, he left his town in Kento and never looked back. His misery had left a dark whole in his heart and ever since then, he kept his Ninetales inside of his pokeball because she would change fur color to black. His soul was in complete darkness and she being so bonded, her state was also in darkness.
The two traveled into the unknown world of Pokemon and neither had the heart on what to do next.
