Chapter 2: The examinations

To fully understand what happened in the first chapter we shall go back a little in time.

It was now three months since Spyro, Sparx and Cynder had gone missing, the four guardians was deeply concerned about it and Malefor´s forces was growing while the dragon and their allied forces was diminishing for every passing day.

"Hi there, are you Cyril?" An unfamiliar voice interupted the brain storming the guardian was doing. "Yes I am, and who are you?" Cyril, the red guardian, replied.

"My name is Hypter, I was told you should be here, I have come to offer you my services." The red dragon explained. "And what can you do to help here, little Hypter?" Cyril asked which offended Hypter. "Well, Im good with making medecine and use it to heal others" Hypter replied.

"Well then Hypter, maybe you can help after all, we need all help with healing wounded as we can get. I can write a recomendation letter to Terrador, he will decide where you should be positioned." Cyril said.

Hypter thanked Cyril and took the letter and went of to find Terrador. After an hour he found the green guardian sitting and planing strategies.

"Hi there Terrador" Hypter said, making the green guardian turn around.

"Greetings young dragon, and what errand do you have here?" Terrador asked.

"Im here to hand you this note from Cyril and to get positioned somewhere by you." Hypter answered.

Terrador read the note quickly and actually smiled, which was wery rare. "Finally someone that can take care of the wounde, you will be positioned near the front to take care of the wounded." Terrador said.

"Finally I have something to do...I´ll leave at once, see ya when the war is over Terrador." Hypter said as he took off. "Wait" Terrador yelled as he threw Hypter a brown backpack "maybe you can use this for something, probably you make better use of it than we." Terrador said.

As the war raged on, Hypter helped many wounded dragons and other allies, always carrying the brown backpack with herbs and medecines. But as every war this one craved many deaths, Hypter lost many patients and often lay sleepless at night.

(Now we jump a little forward in time so that you wont get bored)

Hypter was as often now days out on the battlefield searching for surviviers, when he got an order to retreat to the camp nearby. When Hypter arrived at the camp there was a huge gathering of everyone assigned to that camp.

"What´s going on?" Hypter asked one of the soldiers.

"There is a rumor that Spyro has returned" the soldier replied.

"Spy-who?" Hypter asked, the question made the soldier stare at him like he was completely brain dead. "You don´t know who Spyro is?" The soldier was shocked becouse Hypter didn´t know who Spyro was. "Seems like it is good news but I can´t be hanging around here I have to get back and look for more survivers." Hypter said and took off.

After Hypter heard the rumer everything happened so quickly, more forces joined the the battle against Malefor and the atmosphere was almost cheerful among the soldiers. And after about a 3 months Malefor was defeated by Spyro and Cynder, and after another three months the dragon temple was restored and most of the dragons had moved in. Then Spyro and Cynder moved in aswell, off course they got the best rooms in the top of the buidling, where also Ember and Flame had their rooms.

(Thats where the first chapter begins, if you haven´t read it do it know, I´ll pretend that you are getting some water or something and didn´t skip the first chapter. If you actually read the first chapter thats awsome)

(Now that you have read the first chapter we can continue with this one.)

"Cynder I think we must go back to the temple, it´s getting late now and the sun has almost set." Spyro said to Cynder who nodded slightly. "Oh and before I forget it, Hypter wanted to talk with us."

"We take that tomorrow Spyro." Cynder replied. As they hedded towards the dragon temple.

Hypter and Cyril was talking in the late afternoon about the other dragons that would soon reach puberty. "It´s going to be a mess when all the younger dragons reach puberty, and Im afraid that there will be many fights over Spyro." Cyril sighed.

"Indeed, thats why I need to examinate all the other dragons, except the guardians, I have made a list that you must anounce and put up in the dinner hall. Hypter said.

"Hmm, if you say so" Cyril replied.

At the supper that day Cyril did as Hypter told him and anounced the examination and put up the list. And after the dragons finished their supper they started to crowd around the note. Off course there was a loud buzz since Spyro and Cynder was on top of the list.

The next day Cynder woke up early and decided to head for Hypter´s room and see what he wanted.

When she arrived at Hypter´s room she knocked quietly at the door since it was early in the morning.

"Come in Cynder" Hypter answered.

"How did you know it was me at the door?" Cynder asked when she entered Hypter´s room.

"Becouse I can see the futer! No Im just kiding i heard that it was you becouse you are the only one that knocks here." Hypter said.

"And what exactly is this examination about?" Cynder asked.

"Actually i expected Spyro to come here before you but it doesn´t matter, I was just gonna ask you if you had taken a mate yet."

The question made Cynder blush but it didnt show becouse of her black scales.

"I´ll take that as a no then." Hypter said. "If you jump up on the bed there in the corner and relax so that I can examine how long it is before you get into the puberty." Cynder did as she was told and jumped up on the bed.

After five minute Hypter was done with examine Cynder. "Hmm...well according to my results you will soon go into puberty." Hypter said.

"And what exactly does that mean?" Cynder asked.

"Ehm...you will be ready to mate, and you might feel an urge to find a male to mate for no particular reason." Hypter replied, "That will be all, you can go and see if you can find Spyro becouse I would like to talk with him to as soon as possible since I have more patients in the afternoon." Cynder nodded and went to look for Spyro.

After about a half hour Spyro walked into Hypter´s room, not saying anything becouse he was trying to scare Hypter. "Mornin´ Spyro, close the door after you please." Hypter said not even looking back.

"How did you know I was here?" Spyro asked confused.

"Becouse I can see the future! No Im just kiding I saw you in the mirror." Hypter said. "Anyway, did you talk to Cynder about how you feel for her?"

"Yes I did, and it was like you said, she loves me too." Spyro replied.

"Goodie, well if you could lay on the bed in the corner so that I can examine you so that I can see how much longer it is untill you reach puberty."

"What is puberty?" Spyro asked.

"It´s when you are ready to mate." Hypter explained

After five minutes Hypter was done with the examination.

"Well you are going to reach puberty soon, which means that you are gonna feel an urge to find a female to mate with. Since you have told Cynder what you feel, I would like to talk with both of you in the afternoon." Hypter said.

"We come by after dinner then" Spyro said.

Hypter didn´t have much of a pause becouse he should examine all other dragons aswell, except the guardians. He had to examine five other dragons that day. Ember and flame was the next two to show up. Flame turned up first.

"Hi there Hypter, what is it for examination you are gonna do?" Flame asked when he entered the room.

"Oh it´s a rutine thing really, just lay down on the bed in the corner, it wont take long." Hypter said.

And after five minutes the examination was done. "Well you are gonna reach puberty soon Flame, do you feel strongly about any specific female?" Hypter asked making Flame look around making sure no one else would hear. "This stays between you and me right?" Flame asked recieving a nodd from Hypter. "I have always liked Ember but the only one she cares about is Spyro, I dont know how to make her like me." Flame said.

"Have you told her what you feel?" Hypter asked.

"Well...no but that wouldn´t change anything anyway" Flame said.

"Are you sure? Even if it doesn´t change anything it´s still a begining, when she knows how you feel maybe she starts to notice you." Hypter replied. "Anyway, that would be all Flame, you are free to go."

Shortly after Flame left Ember turned up, as anoyed as ever becouse she ran into Spyro and Cynder right before entering Hypters room.

Oh by the way, the room Im so often talking about isn´t Hypter´s private room but a room on the first floor that is his temporary infirmary. But the room where he have his herbs is however his room, and it's aslo there he hid his crystal. Anyway back to the story.

"Why do I have to be examined, I have a lot of things to do." Ember said enoyed.

"Such as?" Hypter asked making Ember trying to find something but she couldn´t. After the war had ended the only one with things to do was Hypter and the guardians.

"Chasing after Spyro?" Hypter asked, off course it was a retorical question, and it made Ember blush a little. "Anyway if you just jump up on the bed this wouldn´t take so long." Hypter explained.

"Well?" Ember asked, wanting to know why she was being examined.

"Oh right, the reason you are here is becouse the guardians asked me to check when the younger dragons was going to enter thair puberty. And so far my resoults are showing it´s going to happen soon." Hypter explained.

"Puber-what?" Ember asked confused.

"Oh by the Elders! Haven´t the guardians tought you dragons enything about puberty! Ehm anyway...Puberty basicly means when you are ready to mate." Hypter explained.

"Oh, and when am I going into puberty?" Ember asked since she wanted to know when she could mate with Spyro. "That I cant tell you, if you want to know you should talk with Volteer or Cyril. I advise you to talk to Cyril since Volteer is...well, Volteer." Hypter answered with a sigh.

"Hmph, well then that is what Im going to do now then." Ember replied and made a quick turn around and left the room. Hypter sighed at the female dragon, since he knew Spyro wouldn´t mate with her.

When Ember was gone Hypter left aswell to find anyone of the guardians, Cyril was the one he found. Cyril was about to teach some of the dragons to use the fire breath but Hypter didn´t care at that moment. "Cyril I have to talk to you!." Hypter said quick without waiting for an answer he pulled the guardian into one of the empty rooms. Leaving the young dragons laughing since Cyril was being pushed around by a much younger dragon then himself.

"What is it Hypter, what can be so urgent that you must interrupt in a class?" Cyril said.

"What it is?!" Hypter yelled. "You old fags haven´t teached the younger dragons anything about puberty OR sex! And you call yourself a guardian!" Cyril was chocked at seeing Hypter so angry since he normaly was wery quiet. "Well it´s becouse" Cyril started but was interrupted by Hypter.

"No excuises Cyril! They shall have education in this area if I so have to teach them myself! Give me a clasroom and allow me to take some books from the library and then I´ll do the rest" Hypter commanded. "Hmm..." The guardian thought for a while. "It wasnt a question!" Hypter said.

"Well I guess I can´t stop you...take the old classroom on the top floor, we don´t use it anyway. And take whatever books you find neccesary." Cyril said, going out from the room to continue his lesson.

In the afternoon when Hypter had examined all the dragons that was listed that day, Spyro and Cynder showed up.

"Ah, Spyro and Cynder good to see you both together, please have a seat." Hypter said when the dragon couple arrived. "Spyro did you tell him about us?" Cynder asked surprised.

"Actually it was him that encouraged me to tell you how I feel about you." Spyro answered.

"Well then, I guess I owe you a thank since I had waited for him to spit out what he was hiding." Cynder said to Hypter. "Heh, no problem Cynder, it was kinda enoying to see you to walk around not telling eachother how you felt." Hypter replied.

"Well anyway, the reason I have asked you to come her again is that according to my resoults many of the dragons here is going into puberty soon."

"And what does it have to do with us?" Spyro asked.

"Everything infact, as for you Spyro, you are going to be attracted to the other females here." Hypter was cut off by Spyro. "But I only love Cynder!, no one else!" He said.

"Oh if it was that simple Spyro, but you see, it has to do with you hormones, and no one can do something about that." Hypter explained, trying to calm down Spyro.

"What do you mean with attracted?" Cynder asked.

"Well, when a female dragon reaches her puberty the way she smells changes. It attracts young males that haven´t mated yet." Hypter explained. "And since Spyro is...well lets say atractive for the other female dragons that lives here, since he is the only purple dragon and a hero, they will probably try to seduce him."

"Seduce me?" Spyro said as he was getting a little worried and looked on Cynder.

"Yes, when a female is in heat the smell she produces is increased about a thousand times, making all the unmated males in a small area almost incapable of doing anything but to smell the scent."

"Do you think they would go that far?" Cynder asked as she allso was getting worried.

"You could ask Ember or any other female here if they should do it." Hypter said with a laugh. Making Spyro and Cynder realise that they had to do something about it.

"So, what can we do?" Spyro asked Hypter.

"The only thing you can do is to mate Cynder, as soon as you both reach puberty. There isn´t something else that I can recomend." Hypter said seeing that both blushed heavily but did not let that interrupt him. "The only thing we can hope for is that Cynder reaches the puberty first. But Cynder you must also watch out since you will attract other male dragons with your smell when you reach puberty."

"So I will have mindless dragon males hanging after me that wants to mate with me?!" Cynder outbursted. "In short termes, yes." Hypter answered.

"But how come you isn´t worried Hypter?" Spyro asked.

"Like I told you before, I decided to not bind myself to anyone." Hypter replied.

"But wont you be affected by the females as I will?" Spyro asked.

"I took a potion that makes me immune." Hypter was cut off by Spyro once again.

"Can´t you give me some of that potion then?" Spyro asked.

"As I was trying to say, the potion makes you immune but also makes you unable to make hatchlings with a female." Hypter explained, making Spyro and Cynder chocked.

"Oh, Im sorry Hypter." Spyro said as he wished he hadn´t asked.

"It´s ok Spyro, it´s my choice and I don´t regrett it." Hypter said. "But the best you could do is to contact me again when you start to feel anything unusuall, and I really mean anything." Hypter said.

"We will" Spyro and Cynder said at the same time.

"Now don´t worry more about it, I have informed the guardians that it is mating season and they will keep an eye on everyone so that nothing that shouldn´t happen, happens. And I will keep and extra eye out for Ember." Hypter said, calming the dragon couple a little bit, well that is untill they realised Hypter had told the guardians about them. "Do you mean you told the guardians about us?" Spyro said, feeling embaresed. "Yes I did, but I also told them that it is a part of a reaserch, so dont worry. They dont know you are really in love with each other." Hypter explained making the two dragons sigh in relief.
