this is a little short where i tried to imitate Hemingway's writing style. it is essentially a parody of Hills Like White Elephants. If you Haven't read Hemingway's short, I strongly recomend doing so.

As you might have noticed, i took down Bermuda Treaty. it really was rather terible and i'm kind of ashamed that I posted it at all... I am far from a talented enough wrighter to pull off somthing like that. maybe someday though.

It's been well over a year since my last real story, so i'll start on some smaller stuff and hopefully be a bit more active. from now on, And for those of you who are atill reading, thanks for your patience!

and now, without further stalling:

A Change of Heart

"Do you really think it's a good idea?"

The girl asked as she sat staring out through the windshield.

"It's up to you really,"

The fox replied while steering the rented Ford Escort into one of the three parking lots outside of Albertis Regional airport.

"I don't know. It's such a big move for me; I don't want to do this prematurely,"

"This is a terrible design for a parking lot," The male Fox muttered. "There aren't any close parking spaces,"

"You are ridiculous, ya' know that. You are willing to spend five minutes driving around a parking lot two save a two minute walk,"

She cooed.

With a sigh and a small grin the slim, lithe fox whipped the silver two door into the closest spot he could find. The girl reached behind her boyfriend's seat to retrieve her purse. Then, together, they got their bags out of the trunk and walked inside.

"I think you would like it," The fox ventured. "After all, it's the only way we could truly be together,"

the girl slid out of her light sweatshirt before answering.

"We are together,"

she reminded him.

"Why don't you go get the tickets. I'll find a table,"

the girl proposed, then she took his rolling bag and carried it off toward the small lounge aria. The fox went and bought two tickets then found his girlfriend at one of the tall round tables that sat near the windows.

"It leaves in half an hour,"

he informed the auburn haired girl.

"Are you sure we won't have time to see the ocean? I've never seen it before; it'd be so cool to at least go stick my feet in the water,"

"We're staying at my parents, remember? It's a good three hour drive from their house to the ocean. Besides, you will need a good while to recover after the operation. Then we are going to have to go back to school,"

the vulpine reminded his girlfriend.

"Hmmm," The girl slouched back into the tall faux leather chair.

"You don't want want to get it done?"

the fox asked.

"If it will make you happy, then yes, I want to,"

she replied.

"I'm happy now. I love you, and I want to be with you forever,"

"If it's that important to you then I'll do it,"

he took one of her soft, silky, tan hands in his thick, furred ones.

"I don't want to push you into anything you're uncomfortable with,"

He murmured a look of sincere concern spread across his vulpine features.

the girl shut her eyes and sighed, "I didn't sleep well last night,"

"Would you like some coffee?"

the fox inquired.

"Mm Hmm"

The male got up and strolled over to the coffee shop only a few feet from the tables where the couple were sitting.

"Can I have two Cappuccinos," he asked, "and make one a double,"

"You must be tired!" remarked the sandy haired Bariesta.

"yeah, it's been a long Winter,"

The Cashier handed him the drinks and he returned to the table, giving the one marked "double" to his companion.

She had turned her chair and was now facing the floor to ceiling windows that overlooked the tarmac.

"It's amazing how invention works. One day two men in a bike shop come up with the first flying machine, and now we are flying thousands of people a day to anywhere in the world in a matter of hours. And nobody even stops to think about it,"

The fox leaned forward on the back of her chair and idly ran his fingers through her hair,

"Society is always evolving. Everyone is too busy looking forward to appreciate the things we have right now,"

he mused.

"I'm worried that it won't be the same... afterwords,"

she tore her eyes away from the jet just starting down a runway in the distance to gaze into his eyes.

"You know I'll always love you. No matter what you do,"

he comforted.

"I know, but will I be the same person?" it's a huge change, What if something goes wrong?"

"It won't. Its not like it used to be. They do this kind of operation every day,"

the rust colored Vulpine refuted, and moved his hands to her shoulders.

"How are we going to pay for it?" the girl questioned, "insurance isn't going to cover it,"

"It will cover some,"

"It won't cover all of it. and I don't want to have hundreds of dollars of debt just from this,"

A Voice Suddenly Split the quiet air inside the small, empty terminal, "Flight 794 to Los Angles Now Boarding on gate fifteen."

"That's us," the fox announced as the couple stood and reached for their bags. "I've got it," he said as picked up her bag as well.

"I'm so nervous..." the girl confessed, setting the pace at a brisk walk as they traversed the seemingly endless white hall to gate fifteen.

"don't wory. You'll be fine." I grew up with these people." the fox chuckled.

"It's not just meeting your parents. It's that... I've heard things about cities with high fur populations..."

"Oh Jen, Don't be like that." the fox groaned. "No one will bother you, unless you're a complete idiot. Plus, you'll be with me the whole time,"

For a few seconds, they walked in silence.

"They have the best hospital in the world for this kind of thing," The fox ventured.

"That's what I've heard," the girl replied.

"If you dont' want to get it done, I understand," said the male. "there's no reason to decide right now,"

"I Don't care..." sighed the girl.

"But I do," answered the fox, "I want you to be happy,"

"I am happy,"

"you don't look happy. I miss your smile,"

the vulpine stared at the billboards on the wall as they walked by. One in particular caught his eye, it was a picture of a beach filled with tan girls lying on towels, and in the distance, guys surfing along the foam speckled waves of the Pacific. Underneath were the words: "Visit Sunny California!"

"Did you pack a swimming suit?"

The girl stopped and looked at her boyfriend, confused by the sudden question. "No, you don't like swimming,"

as they gave their tickets to the attendant, a small smile slowly lit up his face,

"Maybe it's time I reconsidered things,"
