"Mama! Papa! Noo!" The young wolf cried out as he struggled against the iron grip of the guard holding him. He was only 14 winters old, and strong for his age, but no match for the guard. He kept struggling to get free, even as his father shook his head.

"Calm down son! Don't do anything that might get you killed too. Stay safe! Always remember, we love you!"

The boy stopped struggling, and fell to his knees, tears streaming down his face. He still couldn't understand why the Empire wanted them. They were only simple farmers, and had supported the Empire for nearly 3 generations.

Last night the guards had come, the commander, a large, short haired canine with mostly black fur, brown spots on his paws, muzzle, and chest, with at least a hundred scars covering his exposed body, leading them in, smirking as the guards grabbed them from their dinner table. The commander pulled out a parchment from a pouch on his belt, his smirk broadening into a grin as he read from it. "It is here by declared that you have been found to be traitors to the Empire, committing treason by giving supplies to, and harboring, the Resistance and its fighters. Punishment is death." The guards had then dragged all three of them to the barn where they had been bound and left lay in a stall.

The boy's attention was snapped back from his memory, as the commander spoke. "Now, for crimes against the Empire, your blood shall be spilled. However, for such treachery, you will be forced to watch your son and wife die first." He said the last part with an evil grin as he drew his short sword and turned to the boy. The boy gasped and stood up, trying to back away as the commander walked toward him, his progress halted by the guard that held him.

The father's eyes opened wide, horrified. Then he narrowed them, as he looked behing him he lunged forward, bringing his foot up behind him, catching the guard holding him in the face. The guard let go of his bonds to cradle his face as his father darted forward at the guard holding his son. He managed to knock over the commander as he rushed past, and continued running toward the guard with impossible speed. The guard let go of the boy to confront him.

"Run Draxuz! RUN!!" his father cried out as he slammed into the guard.

Draxuz jumped back to his feet to bolt, but was unable to move as another guard quickly grabbed his arm. The guard that Draxuz's father attacked kicked his father off of him, drew his sword, and cleaved him into two pieces in a downward angle, starting at his right shoulder and ending at his hip. Draxuz's father fell to the ground in two pieces, innards spilling all over the ground. Draxuz stood stone still, his eyes wide, as tears welled up under his eyes. He just stared at what remained of his father, twitching on the ground before laying still forever. Something in his mind let go, he could feel his rage start to build.

Things seemed to slow down for him. He heard his mother cry out again. He turned his head to find that the commander had walked up to her, spun her around to have her back against him. With a grin, he reached up and around her muzzle with his arm, and jerked her head back and around hard, spinning it to face him. He let go of her chest, and her lifeless body fell to the ground.

Draxuz looked for a moment at his mother's crumpled form, then again to the two pieces that was his father. He was barely aware that the guard behind him had let go of him to join with the rest of the group in applauding their commander's show of power.

He looked up to the commander, who now wore a proud smile and was staring right back at him. Draxuz narrowed his green eyes, small amounts of lightning arced around them as he allowed himself to jump head first into his rage. "You BASTARD!! I WILL kill you for this!!" Draxuz screamed. Draxuz's short fur began to rise on its own accord as his energy built.

This brought the clapping to a halt, and caused the smiles to vanish. The guard that was standing behind Draxuz raised his hand to strike the boy for his show of disrespect. That was as far as he got, as a ball of lightning formed in mid air behind Draxuz, then lashed out. It first struck the guard's armor at his left shoulder, and tore down the front of his chest, ripping open the armor and searing through the skin and organs beneath it, blasting out his back. His body flew back from the force of the lightning, and landed several feet away, his chest smoking, his armor torn to pieces and scorched.

Draxuz's eyes never left the commander's.

The commander's eyes flicked over to the fallen guard, then back to the child in front of him. "He's a magic user! Archers! Kill the boy!"

The black feline archers had already gotten out arrows that had silver tips and had drawn their bows taught. They quickly took aim at Draxuz and released.

Time again seemed to slow for Draxuz as he felt a pull at the back of his mind. He listened to it, and smiled slightly. His eyes narrowed to slits as he focused, calling upon the magic around him. The wind suddenly gusted in, and swirled about his feet. In his vision, he saw the arrows continue to slowly sail towards him, as the wind kicked up dust, spinning around him as if a tornado was forming. It continued climbing up and around him, then coming together at the top to form a globe. He counted off one more second before time seemed to resume its normal speed, then pushed his arms out and away from him, still bound together. The globe of air rapidly expanded outward, kicking up shards of rocks and other debris with it. The air made contact with the arrows, sending them back in different directions.

Three of the arrows returned back to the archers, killing them instantly. Two guards that had came up behind Draxuz before he had started the globe of air were thrown back, impaled on old fence posts. They gurgled blood out of their mouths before going limp, their blades falling to the ground. That only left four more archers and the commander remaining.

For a moment, no one moved. Then the archers reached into their quivers to draw another arrow. Draxuz smiled slightly again, and began to focus on their wooden bows. He first concentrated on just one, finding the water inside that kept them slightly moistened to bend without breaking, then expanded his concentration to all four bows. As the archers began to pull the bows back a second time, Draxuz forced the water from small sections of the bows, all at the same time. Each bow snapped in half at the dry points he created. The archers dropped their useless bows, at first looking to each other, then looking to their commander.

The commander looked back over his shoulder at the archers, before turning back to the boy. "You know, boy, you sure have a lot of talent. Talent that could greatly benefit the Empire. You could devote yourself now, and I will spare your life."

Draxuz looked slightly shocked, before laughing. "I get it. You know you have no way to win, so you are trying to sway me over. You pathetic excuse for a soldier, why would I EVER consider joining YOU?!" He yelled as he became angry again. Then he noticed the palm sized red gem that the commander suddenly held in his hand. The commander looked at it, then back to the boy and grinned, as he drew his sword back out.

"Did looking into a pretty stone give you comfort for your death?" Draxuz asked, cocking his head and smiling slightly in amusement.

The commander just grinned as he drew closer to Draxuz. "It sure did, boy. According to my stone, you have no more magic left. Now you will suffer a slow and painful death that one like you should get. I am going to skin you alive, before..

Draxuz's eyes narrowed again, and he suddenly disappeared. The red gem suddenly glowed fiercely in his palm, startling the commander as he turned to look at it. He heard a collective gasp behind him from the archers, a split second before feeling as if he had been hit in the back of the head with a bag of bricks. He flew forward, landing in the dirt on his face. Draxuz dropped to the ground, landing on his feet, standing over the commander in an almost casual manner, his face showing no emotion. The commander rolled away to his right, before jumping to his feet, his eyes expressing how angry he was.

The commander stood there for a second, before feeling something warm run down the back of his neck. He reached up and wiped at it, bringing it around to inspect it and was suprised to find blood. He glared at the boy, before seeing the small amount of blood on his knee cap. 'He did that with just his KNEE!?' he thought to himself.

"Boy.." He growled low, "THAT is going to cost you." He raised his sword high as he charged after the child. He was angry from the pain, angry from the loss of his men, but most of all.. He was angry by being beaten by a mere child!!

Draxuz just stood there as he charged, watched as the man got closer. As he came within striking distance, the commander brought the sword down with all the force he could muster. All he caught was air. The force of his swing caught him off balance and he tripped, taking another nose dive into the dirt. Draxuz casually walked over to the gem that the commander had dropped from the first hit and picked it up.

"Looks like you dropped this. Maybe I should hold on to it, since you seem to be so careless." Draxuz smiled as he pocketed the gem. He looked back up at the archers who stood stone still, terrified at what had been done to their commander.

"If you don't want what happened to him to happen to you, throw down your weapons and surrender. Now." Draxuz said. They immediately pulled off their quivers and knives, and threw them at the ground as if they were on fire, as far away as they could to the side.

"Good." Draxuz turned his attention back to the commander, who had slowly gotten back up. Blood dripped from his face from the bits of rock that had dug into him. His arm also hung limp at his side, the sword having cut the tendons during the fall. Blood ran freely down that arm. He still gripped his sword tightly in his other hand.

"You don't look so good, commander. I doubt you will survive much more of this. If you value your pathetic excuse for.." Draxuz was cut off as he roared, raising his sword again and charged. Draxuz sighed as he looked off to the side to the dead guard he had blasted, and mentally called for the man's small sword. It slid out of its scabbard, and flew to his open hand. He turned and blocked the commanders wild swing, deflecting it off to the side. Draxuz spun, barely grazing the tip of the blade against the commander's thigh, drawing blood. The commander dropped to the dirt on a knee, howling in pain. Draxuz jumped back a couple steps, getting back out of the commander's sword range.

"Tell me who lied about my parents. Tell me the real reason you were sent here to kill them!!" Draxuz yelled angrily.

The commander spat in Draxuz's direction. Draxuz took a step forward, then stopped when he started talking. "Merawth did! He wanted this land to expand his own farm, but your father refused to sell it to him. So he started befriending people of power.." The commander stopped, looking at the ground and swaying slightly.

'Must be from the blood loss' Draxuz thought to himself. The commander struggled to his feet, and turned to look at Draxuz. "Not that that information will do you any good.. I will still take your life before I die."

The commander grinned again, his teeth showing through the blood as he made his way to Draxuz, considerably more cautious this time. Draxuz raised his sword again, keeping it at the ready. He felt drained, having never used magic before in his life. He continued to listen to the voice in the back of his mind that had been instructing him on how to do everything he had done. He knew, somehow, that it was also helping him physically control his movements. This terrified him, yet comforted him with the fact that he had a better chance of avenging his parents' death.

Draxuz remained still, watching the commander as he got himself back into range with his sword. The commander made a couple jabs with the sword, that Draxuz deflected easily, then swung his sword from the side, before stopping and quickly changing to a downward angle at his leg. With impossible speed, Draxuz brought the sword down, deflecting the sword out wide. Draxuz pulled the sword back in, and slashed open the commander's stomach, his guts spilling out slightly. The commander dropped the sword, quickly placing his hand over his abdomen, trying to keep his guts inside him as he fell to his knees again.

Draxuz stepped back, giving the commander room to fall, but he didn't. There was a flash of light behind his pupils, and a grin split his face. "I check into see if my soldiers have done their duty, and find that a child is behind them being defeated? You must be a magic user. You have now been identified, and will be hunted. You will not live for long." He said.

Draxuz was taken back. "Who are you..?"

He looked back at Draxuz, chuckling. "Just the one that rules all. By day's end, I will have every hunter aware of you, and a bounty on you so large that someone will eventually bring your head to me. You cannot run, you cannot hide."

Draxuz smiled. "Don't bother, emperor. I will save you the trouble. I will be making my way to you. You will have the pleasure of fighting me yourself. Eventually." With that, he slammed the sword through the commander's jaw, upward in through his brain. The light in his eyes faded, and he sunk to the ground, dead.

Draxuz heard separate thuds off to his side. He looked up sharply, only to find each of the archers were dead. He walked over to them, head tilted to the side in confusion. As he neared, he saw blood coming out of their noses, eyes, and ears. He closed his eyes and turned away. He knew that the emperor had had something to do with it.

He slowly walked over to the bodies of his mother and father. The voice inside his mind was quiet, and he knew that at that moment, he was being given a chance to grieve his loss. He dropped down to his mother's side, placing his head on her stomach, sobbing loudly. It was so unfair for what had happened to his family. He wept for a while, finally shedding all the tears he had. He looked to his father, his face still frozen in shock and pain at what had happened to him. He sniffed a couple times, and wiped the back of his hands across his face to dry the tears.

He got up and drug his mother over to his father, finding help with the magic to increase his strength. As soon as he got them close, he stepped back and called upon his magic. Listening to the whispers, he found what he was looking for, and slowly, the ground beneath the bodies seemed to pull itself away from them, building up on the ledges and lowering their bodies down. Once he felt they were down far enough, he concentrated on pulling the soil over them, covering them and giving them back to the dirt. He continued using his power, and called forth two large stones from the ground, directly above where their heads were.

"I.. I am so sorry." he whimpered to them. He turned back toward the farm house, intent on packing things that he would need to survive out in the wild. He would not be able to stay, knowing that the emperor would be hunting for him now. As he slowly walked back, tears still keeping his eyes moist, and soaking the fur below his eyes, he plotted the first place he would go, the next person that would feel his wrath. Merawth was going to pay..
