Lady of Luck: The Traitors

Peter rounded the corner and saw the Dryad Queen pinned to the wall by a massive gryphon entirely black expect for a brilliant gold crest, the gryphon turned its head and swore as it saw Peter round the corner and tried to fly off with the Queen.

The Queen had a look of determination on her face as the gryphon tried to fly off but it found it couldn't gather the magic it needed something was draining the power away from him and no matter what he tried he couldn't use the magic he knew was all around him.

The gryphon gave a howl of disgust and threw the Queen away and then took off into the air intent on escaping. Peter ran to the Queen who appeared to be fine though unconscious he reached down and slung her over his shoulder and ran back to the house he and Dawn had stayed at.

Peter laid the Queen down on the bed and turned to leave the room; Peter bolted the door and ran to help Dawn he was sure that he could help if he could get there in time. Peter bolted into the palace just in time to see Dawn crumple to the ground.

As before in the Temple Town Peter felt the massive power gathering inside him

"You better hope to the Gods this can't hit you" Peter roared as he unleashed a tornado of fire into the palace striking Shadow directly and blackening the rest of the palace

Shadow stood behind his shield as the unnatural fire beat against it; he couldn't believe it his shield was cracking as the enormous power behind the spell directed itself against him in one lethal point.

Peter grabbed Dawn and pulled her away from the circling inferno that surrounded Shadow still attempting to find a way past the shield and into the haven of Shadow

"Dawn, are you Ok?" Peter shouted shaking her

"I will be if you put me down" Dawn said irritably

"Sorry" Peter apologised "I guess I went a little crazy back there"

"What happened to Shadow?" Dawn asked

"Well I guess I trapped him or his appearance" Peter said slowly

"No it's him he was in the next hall he attacked me as soon as you left" Daw confirmed "How did you trap him?"

"Well look to where he was and you can see" Peter said

Dawn looked out and saw Shadow trying to reinforce his shield against the power of Peter's fire magic which still burned around his shield trying to force its way to him.

"Where is the Queen?" Dawn asked

"She's at our room I left her there" Peter replied

"Well we should get her the sooner the better" Dawn said firmly

"Fine but first why was a gryphon trying to kidnap her?" Peter asked

"Probably because Shadow wanted her for some reason, what did the gryphon look like?" Dawn replied

"Totally black except for a gold crest and it was one massive gryphon" Peter said

"Black and gold? Shit that one is a free gryphon not a slave to Shadow" Dawn swore

"Free gryphon? What do you mean?" Peter asked

"There are certain groups in the Blacklands that would like too see Shadow off, that gryphon was the leader of them" Dawn said

"Great so are they with us or against us?" Peter questioned

"I'd say they'd be on our side but only up to a point, they want Shadow gone so they can rule" Dawn answered

Peter let out a sigh "Well let's go get the Queen before she tries to break out" he said "wait a second I want to ask you this. When the gryphon tried to fly away with the Queen he couldn't why?"

"Oh gryphons are very heavy so it would be almost impossible for them to fly without the use of magic" Dawn explained "Dryads are normal magic casters they have a very unique form of magic, they control magic instead of using it. What we do is just draw upon the magic around us the Dryads control it so they can use that ability to deprive others of magic which is probably what the Queen did to the gryphon"

"The Dryads would be a great ally in a battle" Peter commented

"Not likely" Dawn said "One they are strict pacifists and two it would be next to impossible to get them to leave the forest"

Peter grimaced "That's an annoyance ah well let's get the Queen before she decides to break down the door of the house"

Dawn laughed and followed Peter to the house and walked in to see the Queen still laid out on the bed unconscious.

"That must have been one hell of an impact" Peter said as he looked at the limp body of the Queen

"Where did the gryphon hit her?" Dawn asked

"No he threw her against a wall" Peter replied

Dawn winced as she thought at the power that could have been behind the blow "That's not good gryphons are fairly strong as it is and the gryphon that tried to kidnap her was one of the strongest"

"Shit well what can we do?" Peter asked

"There isn't much until we can find a healer" Daw replied

Peter shook his head "How likely is that?" he asked in a cynical voice

"Not very" Dawn said in a low voice

"I'll go shout for a healer see if one's nearby" Peter said then he walked outside and roared for a healer about five minutes later two healers arrived

"Hey your idea worked" Dawn said mockingly

"How many healers have you found?" Peter bantered back

Dawn just laughed; they had been ejected from the room once the healers saw the Queen and briskly told not to enter until they were told it was ok for them to enter

"Well as entertaining as this is why don't we check how the River Master is?" Dawn asked

"River Master?" Peter asked

"The one in charged of the River and who can cross it" Dawn answered

"I think I'll have a few words with her" Peter said darkly

"Wasn't her fault, the monster" Dawn answered shortly "It was sent by a traitor, not by the River Master"

"Hey they found the traitor?" Peter said absentmindedly rubbing his black magic hand that the healers had made him to replace his right hand that had been blown off by a Genthre explosive

"Why don't we ask?" Dawn said evilly

"I couldn't agree more" Peter said voice void of emotion

Dawn and Peter walked down to the River Master's station as they walked through the Dryad's city they noticed the places scorched by magic

"Big mages battle happened here recently" Dawn warned as they neared the River Master's station

They both broke into a light run to cover the distance quicker and they were glad they did as the saw the River Master's station they could see gryphons attacking the River Master's forces battling for control of the River.

Peter grasped at his hip and swore as he realised he had left his sword in the room if he didn't get a weapon soon he was in deep shit. Daw drew her sword and with a laugh began to help the River Master who had two gryphons attacking her, Peter looked around for a weapon saw a strangely shaped axe lying on the ground and picked it up.

Peter grimaced as he felt a strange sensation rise up his arm as he wielded the axe but soon forgot it as a gryphon charged him. Peter ducked the vicious blow that the gryphon threw at him and in return swung a curving blow at its neck, slamming heavily into the neck severing the veins that ran close to the skin the gryphon collapsed gurgling on the ground.

Peter ran at the nearest gryphon and threw himself to the ground as it wheeled around to face him throwing a blow that would have removed his head if it had connected, Peter swung the axe up into the gryphon's groin slicing deep the gryphon threw a weak blow at him before collapsing on him pinning him down with dead weight.

Peter saw a gryphon sneaking up behind Dawn and with all his strength threw the axe, the axe flew true slamming into the gryphon's leg severing the femoral artery dropping it almost instantly. Dawn turned as she heard the gryphon scream in pain and saw Peter trapped under the gryphon's body.

"Need some help?" Dawn said in an infinitely superior tone

"Just push it off me" Peter said "I did just save your life"

"I know and for that I am eternally grateful" Dawn said mockingly

"Just help me up" Peter said voice showing clear irritation

Dawn laughed and used her sword to lever the dead gryphon off Peter the fighting had slackened for the moment the Dryads had regained control of the River Master's Station and were using its defences to the utmost.

One gryphon flew to close to one of trees at the edge of the forest and was ensnared by a number of thick branches for minutes afterwards there was blood curdling screams coming from that area.

Peter winced as the screams were suddenly cut off "Not a good way to die" he said

"You could say that again" Dawn replied the gryphons seemed to get the idea after the screams cut off and began to retreat flying to the other side of the River to safety or so they thought. The River Master had evidently entered the station and summoned monsters to harry the escaping gryphons on the other side of the River.

Dawn and Peter entered the River Master's station and were greeted by cheers the Dryads were in high celebration and it clearly wasn't for the young. The River Master excused herself and went over to speak with Dawn and Peter.

"We drove the buggers off" the River Master rejoiced

"Indeed you did" Peter then voice turning cold "Did you find the traitor?"

The River Master's expression turned serious "We did she is tied up in the storeroom at the back of the station"

"Good I would like a few words with her" Peter said voice still cold

The Dryads parted as they saw Peter coming they could all sense the dark intent radiating off him as he strode towards the storeroom. Peter turned the handle of the door and swore as it didn't open "It's jammed is it locked?" he cried out

"No" the River Master said slowly "We tied her to the bed and closed the door. I didn't lock it"

Peter put his hand to the door and gathering his magic used its force to blow the door of its hinges sending it slamming into something pinning it against the wall. Peter walked up to the body of the traitor and recoiled in disgust as light fell upon the body, it had been torn horribly by something probably a gryphon.

Peter turned to the door that was lying embedded in the wall pinning something to the wall, Peter look down and saw that trapped beneath the door was a small gryphon. The gryphon was far smaller than he would have expected and it didn't possess the brilliant colours that the others did, it was pure white and didn't seem to have any wings and it was swearing quite foully at him from where it was trapped.

Peter used his magic again to remove the door from the wall releasing the gryphon as it was about to spring he struck it firmly with the force of his magic raising it four feet in the air thrashing around trying to get itself back to the ground.

"How do you like the view?" he asked "Would you like to see it from four miles higher?"

The gryphon blanched visibly at the threat "Kill me already foul human" it swore at him

"Why would I kill you?" Peter asked "You killed the one who maimed me and all I want in return for you stealing my revenge from me is information"

The gryphon calmed and looked confused "What do you want to know?"

"Well why your leader tried to kidnap the Dryad Queen?" he asked "And why you attacked?"

"The Queen is needed for some reason not told to me I wasn't worthy of the knowledge and the attack was the diversion so it could succeed" the gryphon answered

Dawn walked into the room "Well I thought I would have to dissuade you of killing the traitor but evidently I don't have to" Dawn said "What are you going to do with the gryphon?"

"Let it go" Peter said

"Not here" Dawn said "The Dryads would kill her"

"Fine" Peter said "Well if you want to live you'll have to come with us are you willing to cooperate?"

The gryphon nodded firmly obviously not trusting her voice; Peter drew Dawn to one side

"How did you know it was a girl?" he asked confusedly

"I have met with the gryphons before" Dawn said shortly

"This is going to be something that you aren't going to tell me isn't it?" Peter asked with a certain amount of annoyance on his voice

"Well at least you have learned that" Dawn said sweetly

"How do we leave?" Peter asked

"We'll take the River boats back" Dawn said

"Yes and the Dryads won't kill her on sight why?" Peter said irkedly

Dawn grimaced "You maybe right" she conceded "We'll talk to the Queen"

"Still how do we get... wait a minute what's your name?" Peter asked

"Gryll is my name" Gryll answered

Dawn's eyes widened "We have a very powerful person here Peter" Dawn explained "Gryll is the daughter of the gryphon you are familiar with"

Peter laughed "Well that explains how she got by the guards, did you fly over here?"

"Yes of course" Gryll said indignantly

"Well we now have another powerful mage on our side for a while" Peter said

"Well here come the Dryads might as well tell them now" Dawn sighed

Peter walked out "Listen we are going to be bringing a gryphon out she is very important to us at the moment so no-one and I repeat no-one is going to hurt, clear?"

The Dryads murmured their agreement at first but when Peter drew power into himself they all promptly agreed very loudly. Peter walked back into the room "They agreed" he said shortly still holding the power inside him

Dawn noticed the aura of power around him "I wonder why?" she said mockingly

"It works doesn't it?" Peter bantered back

"Can't argue with that" Dawn conceded, Gryll noticed the play between the two friends and shook her head

Peter walked beside Gryll ready to fend off any magic attack from the Dryads or one of their defences, the walk back to the palace was extraordinarily tense both Dawn and Peter were constantly watching the trees for any sign of an attack.

When they reached the palace both Peter and Dawn sighed heavily "Thanks gods that's over" Peter sighed

"Well let's talk to the Queen and get out of here before something awful happens" Dawn agreed

The mismatched group walked into the palace thankfully the Queen had taken control again and was apparently fine although the fire that had contained Shadow was gone and so evidently was Shadow.

"It's good to see you're back on your feet" Dawn said

"Thank you Dawn but I must truly thank your friend Peter for saving me" the Dryad Queen replied

"Thank you it was nothing" Peter said

"I would like to show you something important soon if possible" the Queen said, Peter shot a look a Dawn who merely shrugged

The Queen rose and beckoned Peter after her Peter gave a helpless look to Dawn before following. The Queen led Peter to a strange room and opened the door and beckoned him to enter.

"You saw those statues didn't you?" the Queen said

"Of course they were hard to miss" Peter said

"Something tells me that you will need the magic one day so I will teach you the way of the mancer and the power of the magic" the Queen instructed

Peter and the Queen sat in the room for many hours the Queen intent on teaching Peter the mancers art which was incredibly dangerous if you drew to much power into yourself it would anthracise you, simply put burn you out for the inside but the power that you could use was beyond imagining.

After who knows how long Peter finally was judged acceptable in the mancers art and she began to instruct him on the magic she had used to petrify the traitors in the glass and how long it could last. If properly cast it could be for eternity but it could also be used to save someone by freezing them in time as the glass was invulnerable to harm and time as was the person inside.

"This is one of the hardest magics of the mancing art but something tells me that one day you will need this skill and something greater than your life may depend on it" the Queen said

Peter took this all in without noticing he had managed to cast some of the glass but so far it all failed within seconds then as he pushed himself to draw as much power as he could something snapped inside of him and the glass was there perfectly formed and it wasn't failing.

"Good that was quicker than I expected" the Queen spoke drawing Peter out of his trance

"Really how long did you think it would take?" Peter asked

"About two days longer" the Queen said nonchalantly

"How long have we been here?" Peter asked

"Around three days you had a lot to learn" the Queen explained

"Three days I went three days without sleep?" Peter asked clearly not convinced

"Ask Dawn when we get to the throne room" the Queen challenged

"Fine I will" Peter retorted

Peter emerged back into the throne room and was immediately hugged by Dawn "What took you so long?" she asked

"How long have I been gone?" Peter asked

"Three days the Queen told you right?" Dawn said

The Queen laughed as she sat on her throne "He didn't believe me" she said

"Can't blame him first time I was in there I didn't believe my trainer either" Dawn said

"You were trained here?" Peter asked incredulously

"Well the Dryads weren't as tight as they are now. I only learnt to use magic to its fullest potential they wouldn't teach me mancing" Dawn said

"I think I know what you want" Peter said slyly

Dawn smiled and laughed the Queen though didn't look pleased "There is a reason why we didn't teach her she is to powerful" the Queen said

"Then you might have a problem I am more powerful than her so what's the issue?" Peter asked

The Queen swore loudly causing several of the court members to mutter ominously "What!? I was told you were weaker than her" the Queen stormed

"Then you were lied to" Peter said bluntly "The healers who I assume are a good judge of power say I am more powerful than you and Dawn so I can't see a problem with me teaching her since you already broke your rule in my case"

"Healers told me that how'd you find out?" Dawn hissed

"They healers are quite chatty you learn a lot about yourself and their other patients. Funnily enough one of them told me something quite interesting about you" Peter said darkly

"I can't wait" Dawn said dryly she had been to those healers before though she thought most of them would be dead by now apparently one of them had a tenacious hold on life

The Queen was surrounded by her mancers in a very lively conversation he could help but feel concerned they still hadn't found the traitor mancers and now that he knew what they could do he was very afraid. One of mancings abilities was to change your form to resemble someone else if cast well it was perfect all you needed was their blood.

Peter grew more concerned as this idea more and more grew inside of his mind he walked over to Dawn "Loosen you sword I think two of those mancers are the traitors when I say now I will deprive everyone in the room of magic and if they are in here their illusion will fail so be ready" Peter instructed her

"Now" Peter shouted as he suddenly ripped the magic away from the room, two of the mancers swore as their forms wavered and changed. Dawn saw the change and leapt forward drawing her sword placing at the chin of one of the changing mancers.

"Well looks like my idea worked" Peter smirked

The Queen looked shocked as the true forms of the traitor were revealed "Well Peter since you caught them maybe you should cast the spell this time" the Queen said

"Of course" Peter said "Hold them and put them outside they will not escape this time"

The traitor mancers were dragged outside to await their fate Peter walked out and began the spell he voice grew as he forced more and more magic into the spell. The results became obvious the glass began spreading up their bodies their screams were cut off as the glass reached their mouths their expressions forever etched in horror and despair.

Peter slumped the magic was incredibly tiring and left him feeling exhausted and empty, he stumbled over to Dawn "Not as great as it seems" he slurred

Dawn looked stunned as Peter slumped in her arms "This supposed to happen?" she asked

"Not really but this was his first time doing the spell so I did expect him to do worse but this is the best way for him to learn caution" the Queen said

"Really now why couldn't you just warn him?" Dawn asked her voice carried an edge that the Queen didn't seem to notice

"It was better this way" the Queen said offhandedly

Dawn walked up close to her "He just saved your sorry ass and you thank him by doing this" she snarled then slammed the Queen in the stomach dropping her to the ground

"Consider that a warning" Dawn spat at her then she heaved Peter onto her shoulder and carried him to their room

Dawn grunted as she dropped Peter heavily on their bed "Gods he weighs a ton" she gasped

"I heard that" Peter said weakly

Dawn almost jumped out of her skin "Gods are you better already I slammed the Queen in the guts for what she did and you're alright already" Dawn said sheepishly

"Well thank you your concern is touching" Peter said mockingly

Dawn gave him a shove "Well what did you expect me to do? And if I remember correctly my brother's Temple Town is still burning is it not?"

Peter laughed "Alright you win, those healers talk a lot don't they"

"What did they tell you?" Dawn asked ominously

"You'll find out" Peter said slyly

Dawn growled and jumped on Peter "Really are you sure that's your final answer?" she asked

"Fairly sure" Peter replied roguishly

Dawn growled again and began to slowly run her fingers across Peter's pants with a flourish she removes them and begins to torturously rub herself against Peter's length.

"I will torture you until you tell me" Dawn said darkly "Oh you'll tell me it is just a matter of time"

"We'll see let's make it interesting I cum first I tell you, you cum first... what should you have to do?" Peter asked

"I'll teach you how to cast more powerful magics" Dawn offered

"Alright let's begin" Peter said evilly then thrust hard up into Dawn's pussy

"It'll take more than that" Dawn huffed as she clenched and unclenched her muscles around Peter's cock

Peter laughed and started thrusting sharply into Dawn as fast as he could manage then leant up and began suckling on Dawn's breasts. Dawn moaned as Peter sucked on her breasts in retaliation she put her hand below her and started fondling Peter's balls.

Peter groaned as he kissed Dawn their muzzles pressed firmly together, their tongues lashing around each other both determined to take the advantage.

Peter broke the kiss breathless "You're good" he said breathlessly

"Of course everyone knows that" Dawn said smugly

"But I am better" Peter replied as he slid one of his hands down to rub Dawn's clit

Dawn moaned and squirmed as Peter rubbed her sensitive clit and as he did he leant up and started kissing her on the neck softly driving her closer to pleasure. Dawn moaned and clenched herself hard down on Peter's length the friction making him close.

Dawn moaned as Peter humped into her quicker she could help but thrust back increasing the pleasure levels to a near unbearable state, Peter felt himself grow closer almost there determined not to fall first he gave Dawn's clit a hard rub and continued to rub her clit faster driving her edge.

Peter gasped as Dawn's cunt clamped down on his length finally pushing over the edge he howled as he came sending his cum spraying into Dawn who was already experiencing her orgasm driving her to more pleasure.

"Tied gods damn it all" Peter cursed

"You tell me what they told you and I'll teach you or we could go again?" Dawn told him

"As much I'd love to I don't know whether we'd survive another competition like that, alright you want to know what the healers told me" Peter asked

"I thought that was obvious" Dawn said

"Well the Lead Healer was recounting the time you had spent in the Dryad Forest last time and how many of her staff you had slept with" Peter said solemnly and then burst out laughing

"You can't be serious she is still alive" Dawn asked

"You sound surprised" came a voice from the door

"How the fuck do you people keep opening that bloody door?" Peter demanded

"Key" the Healer said simply

"Well for the Gods sake stop it" Peter said irritably

The Healer laughed "So Dawn can I open my staff's doors without seeing them in your...embrace"

"Well I think Peter should keep me occupied" Dawn said meaningfully

"Hey Dawn where is Gryll?" Peter asked suddenly he couldn't believe he had forgotten

"She is staying with the healers they will protect her" the Healer said

"Good I don't want to be know for breaking oaths" Peter said

"Well I should get back to the wounded there is a fair few from that battle" the Healer said then left closing the door behind her

"We have to bar that door" Peter said

Dawn burst out laughing and kissed Peter
