The Damned Series-Prologue

The Digital forest betrayed nothing, with its quiet skies, filled with various concious bits of Data. All minding their own business, the infrequent bouts of violence did little to disturb the tranquility of this world.

Or so was what a young Veemon thought: the sun was high as his spirits, and the prarie was all his. Tayu ran up the hill, exertions forgotten in his excitement, the little mon didn't even see a short branch in his path. with a soft thump, Tayu was rejected back, landing on his back, breath knocked out of him. He stared up at the sky...cloudless, sunny, and almost same hue as his skin... it was indescribably savory.

So there he lay, a Rookie staring at the heavens; Tayu had forgotten the number of times he'd wished he had wings. the Ability to join the birds, Hydramons, and his dreams so far up the skies... What fun he'd have, scaring his frien....

BANG!

With a loud explosion, an amalgam of noises roused Tayu,to look down the hill at his home, at his village. There was too much going on for the young mon to figure it out exactly, but it was bad: Fireballs being thrown at his home was pretty bad, one would say.

Biting down his panic, he began running: running towards the little hut off to the Western edge of the village: The unknown aggressors, oddly looking like a cross between dragon and a human, were mowing through the Veemon's village. His parents nor neighbors were trained in combat, aside from few friendly tussles, and were quickly being subdued or shot with poisoned arrows.

"no no no no! no! run faster Tayu, Faster!"

Little Tayu ran and ran, and he got to the little opening in front of his hut, yanking it open.

"Mom? Dad? Are you here?"

"T...Tayu?"

His big brown-red eyes could discern two shapes in the corner of his home: his parents (Flamedramons) holding onto the crude stone axes.

Fighting back tears, he was about to run to his parents, when a sharp pain erupted around his left shoulder, making him spin about, falling to the hard ground.

What happened after that, he didn't really know, he only saw his eyes close, and the unforgettable screams of a female Digimon...hopefully it wasn't his mom...

--------------------------------------------Few Years Later------------------------------------------------

It's been six years from that night. Night when Tayu fell to an arrow meant for his parents. Thankfully, the hut falling on top of him had saved him from the Draconian slavery. When he awoke few hours later...he cried for days: there were no bodies, perhaps a good thing that they were digimon, but his burnt town told him enough. Tayu shed all his tears that night, though a few escaped within the week, and cried no more: He traversed about the forest, homeless, goaless and kinless.

Fighting each day to survive had its ups and downs: he had digivolved into a Flamedramon few months ago, with 'stylish' scars running down his back and left forearm. Tayu now led a group of renegade Digimon, stealing and sometimes robbing lost Digimon or villages to make a living. He had killed a few times, when they resisted with force... Tayu tried to tell himself, that they didn't really die, that they'd just be reborn as an egg. But the feeling never left him, hard as he'd tried to block it out...

The Flamedramon shook his muzzle, hidden among the bushes, staring intently at a small village.

'Come on Tayu, focus... they don't really die...and we need food too.'

Giving an inaudible gulp, he twitched his tail: a signal to his band to advance...
