Waking up
#1 of Amnesia
This is my first story and the first in a series about Jake.
Jake slowly opens his eyes and the shuts them in pain, he winces, he then slowly opens his eyes again and winces but doesn't close his eyes, he looks around he's in a white bed surrounded by a machines, he then faints realising he's in a hospital.
Meet Jake a slim, five foot seven, eighteen year old male wolf. He has jet black eyes, fur except for the tip of his tail, ears and the centre of his chest which is the very dark blue, which even his parents can't explain. The reason why is because he is adopted.
His parents are a gay couple, a red fox and a grey wolf.
Some time later Jake awakes with a jolt he screams, he had a bad dream he had just woken up in a hospital. He look a round realising the he was in a hospital. A nurse came in wounding where the scream had come from she look a Jake and then ran out of the room. Jake was wondering why when she came back with a doctor, the doctor then came and stood next to Jake and started to speak "Jake you are properly wondering what you are doing in a hospital, well Jake you have been in a coma for a year". Jake just looked at the doctor in shock, for two reasons, one he was wondering why he was in a coma and the second, who was Jake?
The doctor continued "we have contacted your parents and they are on their way, now the nurse." He pointed to the nurse "will stay with you until your parents get here" he went to leave but Jake stopped him. The doctor turned around and Jake started to speak slowly a first but the got faster "wh who i is J Jake and wh why was I in a coma." He finished
The doctor had a worried look on his face and then started to speak "this is not good, you have amnesia, well I'm not surprised. Jake you were hit by a car and got slammed into a wooden wall. You had to have brain sugary; a kidney replaced and had two broken legs." The doctor stopped. Jake just lay there unable to talk mouth open. The doctor started again "Jake their is a possibility that u cant move your legs but that will wait until your parents get here and... he didn't get any further Jake had passed out.
Jake started to stir which alerted the red fox sitting in a chair next to him the fox got up and went out the door; Jake opened his eyes jut in time to see the tail as it left the room, Jake sat up and groaned in pain a put an arm around his stomach. He look up as the door was opened again and a gray wolf and a red fox came into the room, Jake look at them with a questioned look, they both came over to the bed the fox on the left and the wolf on the right and hugged him, Jake didn't know what to do, he was sitting there with two men hugging him. Jake started to speak "who are you." He said The fox and the wolf let go of him and looked at each other, the wolf turned to Jake and said "the doctor said you might not know who we are because of the amnesia, Jake we are your parents."
As he said "your parents" Jake put his paws on his head and screamed in pain, pictures were flashing thru his mind. Pictures that had the fox and the wolf in them, one of the wolf sitting beside a bed with a six year old Jake in it reading from a book, another of a twelve year old Jake caching a ball thrown by the fox on a sunny day and many more.
When they started the fox and the wolf looked alarmed. The fox left and got a doctor and the wolf sat in a chair by the bed, as the doctor and the fox came in hardly the doctor looked at Jake and said "Jake is remembering some thing big, don't worry it should pass in a minute." And he was right; Jake slowly dropped his hands onto the bed and lay back. After a few minutes of panting he pointed at the fox and said "Tyler" and then pointed to the wolf and said "Slyfer." The fox and the wolf were relived and then the chuckled, "other way around," they said in unison. Then the laughed and hugged Jake again, both whispering in his ears "we love you."
At that moment Jake's stomach rumbled and Tyler and Slyfer laughed and stopped hugging him. Tyler sat down and Slyfer stood next to him. Tyler said "Jake how much do you remember about us,"
"just little bits when I was smaller the youngest I was twelve or thirteen," replied Jake.
"Well what do you want to know?"
Jake didn't know where to start he had million things to ask. The first one "was how old am i?"
"before of after the accident" Slyfer replied
"After"
"well you turned eighteen yesterday, which is also the day you were in the accident last year"
"O, ok how old are you two"
"I'm thirty nine and Ty is forty"
"how...did...why are you two my parents"
"you are adopted"
"and my real parents"
"your father was my brother" replied Tyler before Slyfer could answered
"they were taken hostage in a bank robbery, your mother and father were shot your mother died instantly and your father was taken to hospital he was operated on and the doctors said they did all they could but he died anyway only one time did he wake up and that's when he told me to take care of his son you, he knew that we were looking for a child and that we would love you in there place" At this point a nurse came in and said "visiting time is over, we will see tomorrow if Jake can walk in the meantime you two should go home." The nurse left "well see you tomorrow Jake" said Slyfer they both got up and hugged Jake again and said "we love you" and kissed his cheeks in unison, then they left and Jake when to sleep thinking over what happened that day.
It was the middle of the day Jake was walking down the foot path when he herd sirens be hind him he turned around and saw little blinking spots far down the street, well he tout to him self I do have the best ears in school. He kept on walking and turned a corner into his street and walked a bit, then a car going very fast came around the corner and almost hit an oncoming car it then hit Jake as it swerved out of the way of the car and slammed in to a wooden fence just as he was turning around to look, he then woke with a jolt and a scream.
He was sitting up in a bed, then he remembered where he was and looked around it was early morning and the room was empty. He then saw a button that said nurse and pressed it thirty seconds later a nurse enters and asks what the problem is and Jake says "what's the time"
"8:30"
"can I pleas have some thing to eat and drink I feel like I haven't eaten in years" he then chuckled. The nurse then went of to find him something to eat and to get his doctor. Some time later his doctor came in holding a tray of food he then put the tray on the cheer and said "now Jake I'm going to see if you can walk"
"ok" replied Jake
"now if you can just move this covers" he pulled the covers down "now Jake if you can lift your left leg" Jake did what the doctor asked him to "hmm this is good" the doctor said. Over the next hour the doctor had Jake move his legs back and forth, side to side, walk across the room ect ect. At the end of this he handed Jake the tray of food and said "Jake your legs will be absolutely fine but try not to strain them anytime soon." Jake started to devour the tray of food as the doctor left. Once he had finished he moved the tray onto the chair and then got up to go to the bathroom as he got up he look and what he was wearing it was a standard hospital gown.
As he walked out the room he realised he had no idea where the bathroom was so he asked the nurse that was walking bye "go down the hall and turn left and one should be there." Jake thanked the nurse and stated to walk down the hall passing doctor and nurses as he went as he turned the corner he bumped into a small rabbit that was going the opposite direction "owe" they both said, Jake said "sorry about that I didn't see you"
"its ok I'm part to blame, I'm Jason nice to meet you" he held out his hand to Jake,
Jake took his hand and said "I'm Jake nice to meet you" as they were shaking hands Jake looked at the rabbit, he was covered in yellow fur and had green eyes, he was also wearing the same gown that Jake was wearing, "so what are you in for" asked Jason
"I've been in a coma for one year after I was in an accident" Jason looked at Jake with his mouth open "wow I just had a very bad asthma attack at school"
"well I have to go to the bathroom what room are you in I will come and talk after if you don't mind" asked Jake
"not at all I have been very bored, its seventh room down this hall" he pointed to the one Jake had just come down "ok bye" said Jake as he went of to relive his bladder.
